[q] spc breakthrough - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Phone Spc code options....???
OKAY.....so Ive spent days, and hours trying to unlock my sprint samsung galaxy s4 L720PUBNC6 BUILD/ android 4.4.2 to use for straight talk. I had an S3 and pretty much have all US S3 variants mastered. I was able to get in to service mode by dialing *#0011#. I pressed back, key input"Q", and key input "000000" waited about 15 seconds. I used the instructions from this post to change the settings, but nothing happened. I used several others post from various forums to try, and get the MSL/SPC code. MSL reader, and get my MSL apps did not work. regionlock away did not work, and neither did SAMIOTA hidden menu app. If you download MSL utility.apk it will give you your SPC code. The question now is what options to change? I still get the invalid sim message, and so far no service. I did get a breakthrough of sorts....my phone tried to set up on ZACT Mobile. which is apparently sprints version of a prepaid network. If someone can help figure out the options needed then we can master this device, and move on to the S5.

Cricket on Qwest XV6800 Issue (Mogul, Titan)

hi all. i have followed numerous guides online, but cannot get my phone on Cricket's network. my ESN is activated, and i can get *611 and *228 to work. all other calls forward to "American Roaming". the current setup is:
Radio 3.42.50
dcd 3.3.4 flash
nue2.47 SPL
1039/1050 PRL
i can access my EPST with a non 000000 code (stupid Qwest) but *228 doesn't work. it will only spit an error after "15 failed attempts" and reboot. i do not have access to a Windows machine running QPST as the drivers are fudged and i would have to reinstall to get the 6700 drivers to work (not my favourite O/S)
i think my issue is in the PRL. Cricket gave me a 5 number MSID last time i called so i think i will be calling them again :/
thanks for any help!
Found this on another forum...hope it helps..

First and most important is the SID number Cricket uses for your area. In Phoenix it is 4923. Every market has a different SID, I had a link to a website that listed all the SID's used by all the carriers in all the US markets but I had to format and reinstall Win XP and lost a great deal of my info. I found the link on Howard Forums, a person whose name was 3 letters starting with X__. Anyway go into that programming menu and in the NAM 1 setup you need to enter the SID, and enter your 10 digit phone number where it asks for MIN and MDN. They may be called other things, (mobile id number, phone number, directory number, MSID) but usually it's just your number you need to enter. The rest of the stuff in the programming menu just leave as it is or set to default value. Now if you are lucky when you dial 611 you will get Cricket's automated system and you only need to give the rep your ESN for them to activate your phone on the network. If you still get VM's CS when dialing 611 then you will need a data cable, free software called BITPIM and a copy of Cricket's current PRL file. That file is automaticly downloaded to your phone when dialing *228 but like I said if your not getting Cricket with 611 then the data cable is needed to manually load the file. Post back here if you have any problems and I will try to help. I have sucessfully done this for two phones (only voice and text msging, don't have parameters to make MMS and BREW work yet)so it is possible. Good luck.

never mind guys. they changed my phone number! $#%#[email protected]!
oh well. anyway, this forum has been great, and i thank you for all the help!
thanks crobs808
i am up and running. it seem that the MSID number is a phone number different from mine, however, if i enter my original phone number as the Mobile Directory number, all is well!
so they can be different on Cricket, though the MDN is the one that calls, texts respond to

Weirdest thing on earth...

Ok I exagerated a bit in the title, but...
I bought this HTC 6800 Bell, from a nice guy, unlocked, upgraded, GPS activated, WM6.1. Bell entered my ESN in their system, gave me my MSL unlock code and when I dial ##(MSL)# and hit the talk button, the phone does not get into programming mode at all. I even tried a few HTC ##codes# and none of them succeed to get into programming mode.
Instead, the phone calls the ##code# and somehow gets redirected to a Bell Mobility recorded message telling me to call the activation hotline. Which I finally did. The person could not do anything, so he sent me to a Bell Mobility store, where another very skilled person was unable to do the programming.
What is supposed to happen when you enter your MSL unlock code? Anyone can help me?
I flashed successfuly a few DCD ROMS (3.3.4, 4.1.2), they all worked fine but I still can't activate the phone with my MSL
Thanks
If you're using DCD's ROMs, make sure you have installed the Bell carrier cab from DCD.
http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=carriers%2F&download=dcd+Bell+Carrier+20081031.cab
then try ##778# or ##778[dial]
after that it'll ask your for your MSL... should be just 000000
Thanks. That was the problem. The phone works well now. Thanks again.

[Q] Obtained MSL unlock code from Sprint- still unable to unlock.

Hi guys,
I'm starting a new topic because the only information I could find was from 1 or 2 years ago, before Sprint started giving unlock codes after Feb. 2015.
I recently ported my number to T-Mobile and was unable to unlock my device before my service was severed. Now I am stuck in a rut and cannot get service on EITHER network.
After running around all day, trying to get Sprint stores to help, calling customer service, etc... I was finally able to chat with a Customer Service rep, pay my ETF balance (it had not been posted yet, I asked to pay early). After that, the rep gave me the 6 digit unlock code. I tried punching in *#0011# but I cannot access a menu, it just flashes
MENU NOT EXIST
PRESS BACK KEY
CURRENT COMMAND IS 1111
After that it just displays "No service".
The phone did not acknowledge the T-Mobile SIM at all. I did a network restore code (I forget the dial code) and now it says Invalid SIM Card- so, it knows the card is there.
I cannot get it to a point where it asks for the MSL number.
Can anyone please help? I'm tearing my hair out here.
Thanks,
-Tory
If anyone is going through this same problem, please see this thread and my experience doing this manually, starting with post 1456.
Don't despair! It's a huge pain to go through this if you're only a recreational Android user (like me), but it can be done if you do your homework and follow the steps slowly.
Thanks be to the board, and the people on it.

Samsung Galaxy On5: Attempting network unlock via code, no screen ever pops up

I've searched this several ways, I have tried the couple fixed I have found to no result.
I have an On5 on Simple Mobile. I am trying to unlock it for use with T-Mobile. The expected prompt to enter a code never pops up, only a notification sent from the Phone app stating Invalid SIM Card: Network locked SIM card inserted.
The fixes I have found involved utilizing dialer codes - *#*#4636#*#* and selecting GSM Auto (PRL) was one, but this code did not trigger a menu, only a message Not registered on network. I guess the device was attempting to call the code. The default service menu code is not working either.
I read only one line that seemed to hint at any solution: unlock has to be done through the app. What app? Simple Mobile doesnt have a device unlock app like T-Mobile does, do they?
Any help or information anyone has is very appreciated.

Verizon gave me the unlock code, now what? Moto G4 Play

Hi,
First off, thanks to everyone that keeps this place running and helpful. I don't post here often because i don't mind doing my own research. So, Secondly...
My buddy bought me a Verizon Moto G4 Play for Christmas. Its a nice little phone. Anyway, I met Verizons criteria for unlocking the phone and they gave me the code. Their directions, told to me by a few csrs ( you know how it is, you rarely get the right answer the first time) was to put a sim from a different carrier in the phone, power it up and the phone will recognize the foreign sim causing thr phone yo open a network unlock code box. Enter the code, press ok, and the phone is unlocked.
Sounds like an easy plan except the box never appears.
If i put an active tmobile sim in and then look ay the phones stats under settings, all the right info is there. Network name, network state, the sims phone number....but the phone wont dial nor surf the web. There is notification saying this is not a Verizon sim.
I have spent hours here searching and reading. I am stuck. I am pretty skillful now, thanks to you guys, and have rootrd, modified, and even gotten viper4you to work on 6 phones and 3 tablets but now I ask for your help. I know .y Samsung s all dave a dialer code to get to the network areas but i sure as hell cant find a thing for this phone.
So, in summary, Moto G4 play, unlocking code from Verizon. No way to use or enter the code. Help??
Never mind. I figured it out. Big deal, data only. Its a Verizon phone till the end.
