Internal wireless charging. - ONE General

Hey guys,
I'm mostly a lurker of XDA. I was interested in soldering an internal inductive receiver in my one and was having a difficult time finding any information on it. I had been using a USB adapter that worked ok, but I found it annoying that I could not use my usb port without taking my case off and unplugging the adapter. I took matters into my own hands a soldered in a receiver. I was mostly successful. The usb port works great and the receiver functions, but it's right behind the NFC in the back case and it has problems staying connected to the charger with the back cover on. Once replacement backs are available I plan on modding it further so that I can rely on it daily for wireless charging.

I think this is what I will do when my OPO arrives in a few days' time. I ordered the bits off of eBay yesterday, so one they arrive I will follow your guide.
I guess at 500ma, it should take about 6 hours to properly charge the phone. I just want it for topping up at work, so heavy charging isn't what I need.

After cutting the end off I was unable to strip the wire because it's a weird flat wire. I ended up just melting back the shielding with the soldering iron.
The inductive receivers I have on the way don't have a wire attached but have little copper pin things that I can take off with a soldering iron and attach my own wires. They are also labeled + and - so it should be easy.

I saw your post on xda and I went curious about it. I was actually thinking of doing the same thing, so I'm glad that someone managed to get it working!
I have some ideas to make it better: you can cut the cable that you soldered in the middle to create some sort of connector pins (like in the galaxy s4), and then removing the black pouch in which the receiver coil is, in order to glue it to the back cover itself. Also, when gluing it, you will have to position it a little bit more towards the USB port so that it doesn't block the NFC.
You could end up with something like this :

Some great ideas there, and well worth considering.
I love the idea the pins, as you mentioned. This would allow you to mount the coil to the case, as you suggested.
I like the idea of moving it lower too, away from the NFC antenna. That is a good thought for those whose banks etc actually use it. Or to use your own NFC tags.

To free the backing, you first have to remove the micro sim slot, after that use your finger nails to remove the back (just go around the phone and pull off gently).

They don't understand the initial post and keep linking to other threads about USB adapters. I updated the thread over there with pictures of the cut I made in the back to run the coil outside the phone so that it works a little better while keeping the USB port open.

OK, I read that post.
They are the kind of people who will try it, and blame either you or OnePlus for them screwing their phones up.
Clueless people like that should only be given Nokia 1610's, and made to sit in a corner.

You can unsolder the wireless charging cable at any time, as the parts which inaudible modded, did not have any warranty tamper-proof stickers. If the phone is bricked, open it up, unsolder your wireless coil, pop the cover back on, and RMA like normal.

I would just be afraid of them taking notice of the solder points. I guess if I did have to remove it I could make all the solder points look uniform by re-flowing each socket.
The lack of Qi is the thing I'm missing the most at this point.

Evo 4g Touchstone wireless induction charging mod.

I recently got a HP Touchpad bundle and while the Touchpad is pretty darned decent and definitely worth a hundred bucks, what really impressed me was the touchstone charging dock. Its brilliant.
I looked into it and found the the palm pre also had this and some chap on the net had figured out how to shoehorn the unit into an evo.
I did the mod to mine and its amazing. No more charging cables. Yay!

Hi, this is a great mod!
Noob question: I noticed the charging light but the charging icon does not change on your screen. Just curious if once that the battery is completely charged, the icon will turn green. If so I wonder if the charging unit from the Pixi will stop charging the battery once it's full.
Also, compared to charging it directly from the AC Adapter, how long does it take to get a full charge? Is it the same aprox?
I'm planning on taking a look at my Inspire and see if the back cover allows me to put the charging unit there.

I did this about a week after launch. Very cool...but over time the novelty wore off.
I got sick of the bulge and ripped it out.
Nice! I wonder if I do the same with the Powermat case...
I have the Powermat, but the only caveat is that it requires a bridge connector between the case and micro-usb port.

Im running MikG v2.5 Rom and the charging icon flashes between the lighting bolt charging icon and % so you can see at what % the battery is at while charging. When i took the picture, it was showing %, but rest assured it flashes between the two just as if it was plugged in the usb cable.
The Induction charging puck is dumb, it only supplies power much like a usb cable. The charging circuit in the Evo decides when the battery is fully charged and stops charging. The Evo for all intensive purposes acts and behaves exactly as if the usb cable was plugged in. It cant tell if power is coming from the puck or the usb cable. I wouldnt plug in the cable while its on the puck though. Although the voltage will remain the same, about 5 volts, the amperage will increase, a doubling in amperage shouldnt break anything but i havent found out the hard way.
The puck takes the same amount of time to charge as the usb cable. I havent seen any significant difference between the two.
There really isnt much of a bulge of the back case with using 30 awg wire. Just seat it flat and make sure nothing from the cover crimps on it, and its pretty much neat and tidy.
Ive seen this mod done with flat ribbon cable which would work just as well, although in not sure how it was routed through the phone.

30 awg wire or flat ribbon cable solves the bulge problem. Ive got pucks everywhere, several at home, several at work... and its great not to have to plug it in.
It serves as my phone holder and charging unit. i've set the phone screen not to go to sleep while charging, so it makes for a nice display as well. With the screen left on, it does take longer to charge though.

Its been done. Apparently its quite easy to replace the powermat induction unit with the pixi unit. and the cover fits perfectly.
I opted not to get the powermat case as i wasnt keen on the bridge with the usb dongle sticking out the bottom.
Ive havent heard many good things about it, pretty much nothing but complaints about the powermat induction charging unit which is why i decided on this mod and i can tell you it works, it simply works, perfectly every time.

Well, this post finally got me moving on modding my Nexus S to charge via induction. I just got my HP Touchpad with the touchstone charging dock and it is very very cool. Can't wait to get my Nexus S that way too. And the Palm Pre/Pixi covers are pretty cheap. The Touchstone dock is only $8 too. I can have multiple units for work, home, relatives and will probably mod it to be in my Car phone holder. The possibilities are endless. Wish me luck.
Ok this power thingy(name doesnt come to mind) uses a cord to power it right so doesnt it defeat the purpose of being wirless if you know were im coming from. But hey I maybe wrong its probably battery powered? So dont sun me.

I have mine fitted with this case. It's a TPU plus hard plastic back. I have great phone protection and touchstone charging.... It's no more bulkier than any case out there.

Actually...
This is easy to do since the screw hole surrounding areas are grounded = ground since its pretty universal in this phone, like most mobile devices.
There are a few test points next to the Micro USB port that you can directly test by simply plugging in a USB cable and "buzzing" for the connection of the 5v line.
I get your concern, but there really need not be one and these are the best spots to attach because they are the easiest and safest to remove later. Also, there is a regulator onboard with a shutoff/on ciruit within the inductive charging circuit. It will not turn on or allow voltage to pass under 4.5V (shuts off) from the outputs. Connecting the inductive charger to the 5V input line of the USB directly means that it treats it like USB charging. The onboard current and voltage regulators and charging circuitry of the Evo make it pretty darn hard to ruin it. At any rate, the inductive charger won't ever get up to 1Amp anyway because of power loss due to physics. It is pretty much 500ma in most circumstances from the Pixi receiving end.
The test points are far enough for skilled hands to hit with s solder braid or suck up after a rework airing anyway.
For those who skipped the technical mumbo jumbo, they basically made it impossible for you to screw up (unless you decided to connect your inductive charger at 5V to your Li-Ion battery at 3.7V - DO NO DO THAT!). The picture shows the wire going at the edges of the battery because that is the best place with room, they both route to the same hole at the back of the battery. Use 28AWG or 30AWG teflon-coated stranded wire for slimmest results. Great quality wire will mean that you don't have power loss (the traces are thinner than the wire is anyway so its not an issue).

I remember last year when this mod first showed up, the addition of the Palm induction coil screwed up the evo's internal compass which then caused problems with navigation. Is this still an issue?

Ha. You are totally right, simply switching one wire for another. Then, if you need to usb mount or sync or whatever, you still need a regular micro usb cable to do so...
1 cable for plug/charge/sync
or
1 Charging stone for power
1 Regular cable for das syncing/usb mount/charge.

the induction coil and the metal discs in the phone are not magnetic. When off the charging puck, everything works like it should. Truth be said ive never used the compass app. (im not sure if i even have one), i exclusively use gps which works just fine.

[Info]Making/Using a Factory Cable

There is a lot of information floating around about the factory cable but there doesn't seem to be a thread dedicated to the topic. I bricked my device today so I need to make a factory cable. I tried making a cable but I f'd up the soldering job so I am awaiting delivery of a breakout board. I just wanted to gather some information here on the topic because there seem to be a lot of bricks popping up around here. So for now I am going to post what I know and ask a few questions here and there so that I can get my cable done and hopefully help someone out along the way.
When I started messing around with soldering a jumper from pin 1 to pin 4 i melted the connector, blah, blah, anyway, I screwed it up. Hopefully I will have more luck with the breakout (see below).
From what I understand, using the cable is a simple a plugging it in so I guess that part is self explanatory for now.
I got most of my information about the cable and how to make it from here. Lots of good info with pics and diagrams.
Someone in these forums recomended using this breakout board. I ordered 2 of them today so I will let you guys know how it goes when they get here.
My one big question is about the the jumper from pin 1 to pin 4; I read that some people are using a resister and I am unclear as to where the resister is being used and the specs of the resister. Please enlighten me
I might add some pics to this thread just for fun. If you have built this cable please jump in a post any information that might help.

I simply used a jumper wire. No resistor used. I hear a 1k can be used as a precaution, but is not necessary. Without the resistor, it works like a champ. I turned off the Kindle, Plugged in the "Factory cable", and it went directly into fastboot.
PIN out is as follows on the SparkFun Breakout board:
VCC: RED
D-: White
D+: Green
ID: Jumper RED
GND: Black

hahaha...Nope I didn't have anything wrong, but before I went modding, I wanted to be sure I could get into FastBoot if I messed something up. I have tested and made sure that I had Fastboot commands, so I know it works.

A resistor is the "safe" route. Mine doesn't have one at all and woks flawlessly. You just need a resistor large enough to simulate a short to the device. I imagine anything above 250k would be more than enough.
But as I said before I have used mine more than most people probably have while testing TWRP, I don't have a resistor and it works fine.

Was just thinking. If you used a female breakout board with a male breakout board you could essentially ground the male boards ground to the male boards vcc. And the female boards ground to the male boards ground as well.
This way you could leave vcc hanging (capped of course) from the female source (computer) side.
Aditionally you could put in a dual pole switch between ground from the the target (kindle side) and vcc on the target side that would toggle between ground on the target side and vcc on the source side. Essentially eliminating the need for two cables and letting you switch from a factory cable to a normal cable with the flip of a button.

I built one with the sparkfun breakout board. Piece of cake if you have some soldering skillz. You might melt something or make a mess if you haven't soldered anything before so I recommend practicing on something else first and/or watching some "how to solder" youtubes.
I configured mine with a female header in the pin 4 location, and a 400 ohm resistor coming off of pin 1. If I want to fastboot, I put the free end of the resistor into the female header. To use the cable like an ordinary USB cable, I just pull the free end back out. It's kinda nice to use the same cable for everything.
RE: resistor value. Since any value up to 1K ohm reportedly works, I thought I might as well use one vs just running a direct short. The higher the value of your resistor, the greater the chances that it won't work though. I used the one I did because it was less than 1K ohm, I had it on hand, and it's a higher wattage resistor with thicker wire that fits nicely in the female header.

This will NOT work, as the female breakout boards from Sparkfun does NOT have a breakout trace for pin 4 present. Only the male breakout boards have all 5 pins/traces needed. I've purchased hundreds of both and sold thousands of download mode JIG's for Samsung phones, and was forced to modify the female breakout boards to include a pin 4 trace for special projects of mine. I do not know if they since added the trace or not and its been over a year now since I asked for this feature.
Is there even a market for these factory cables?
EDIT: I know this post used to be how to get a cable from me, but I ran out of the actual cables and never replaced them. With only about one request per week or month I decided to stop stocking the cables. I have everything else though (new micro ends etc) to build a professional one if you want to send a old cable to me.

Probably not much of a market. I think most of us are attempting to make our own. I'm sure you could sell a few but I wouldn't quit your day job ;-)

I could make 50 of them and list them on ebay for what I mentioned above and only $2 s&h. But, ONLY if I knew that they might sell. I'm willing to break even, but not lose money... And oh, I'm unemployed at the moment so I have plenty of time on my hands and every specialty tool you can think of...
I'm just bored and love helping people save their devices.... My ebay ratings can contest to that... ;-)

Nice. Mine looks positively nasty (but it works). What I did was buy a cheap 8" usb micro male to usb micro female adapter, cut it in half, stripped the wires back, and twisted them back together. Then simply jumpered the two wires together and taped the whole mess up. The hardest part was getting a meter on the usb micro pins. Had to clip my meter leads to a needle to get to them. Had to wear my glasses too. They are really small and close together.

Oh, and I forgot to point out that the reason for using the usb micro male to female cable is that you are insured of a wire on pin 4 with this approach, rather than an unsoldered pin to test your soldering skills. You will of course still need a micro to the normal usb cable to go from this to your pc, but I already had that on hand.
Considering the number of kindle fires that have sold, I bet you could easily sell 50 of those cables on ebay.
I'd probably buy one even though I've already made my own. Your's look really nice!

Thanks, but the pictures I posted are of my Samsung Download Mode JIG's, they are NOT Motorola Factory jig's, lol... I ONLY posted pics of my Samsung jig's to show how dedicated I am to making quality stuff for us device flashing junkies. Factory Adapters would not look anything like what I posted, they would just be a Mini to Micro usb adapter with the proper short from pin 1 to 4 (user would have to supply their own standard cable, which most people already have). I have NOT sourced any adapters yet, but I have sent emails to some of my suppliers asking about them. No replies as of yet... I did find a few cables but I do not like cutting products up, I instead like making something that looks like it was produced on a assembly line, lol. Doing the mod to an adapter just seems smarter, as the end result is a clean functional product without any visible damage.
1. I would need to source adapters that are either already un-assembled.
2. Or, can easily be un-assembled and re-assembled.
3. Fairly affordable, 35-50 cents each or something close to.
4. And, be purchased in really small quantities such as lots of 50 to start out with.
5. And most importantly, they must have all 5 pins/wires. MANY adapters do not have all 5 pins on the female side, as pin #4 is simply not needed for most functions. In many cases people are able to restore a bricked kindle because the Factory cable allows one to boot in to fastboot and repair the system or do a factory reset or whatever needs to be done based on what the brick was caused by.

I feel confused. Typical someone says factory to describe an item that comes with a product when you buy it vs. aftermarket. Are you saying that the cable that comes with the fire is somehow special and different from a regular micro USB cable?

This is a special cable that puts the device into fastboot mode when the device is otherwise locked up. It is not a normal cable you would get or use that would come with the device or be orderable from the company. It has only one purpose and would not be used again.

This seems like an awesome project... thinking of undertaking it myself. Couple of questions though.
Are any of the parts cannibalized from a Pre? Not sure if I'd want to invest in a Pre AND an induction charger just for the sake of this mod but if the touchstone is all you need I might just hunt one down.
How much power does the touchstone actually generate? The stock Nexus S charger is rated at 5V and 750mA if I remember right.
I know didly squat about the technical workings of induction charging. How come it isn't possible to charge through the NFC chip? What if the charging pad was shifted down towards the bottom of the phone a bit? *Ideally* it would be nice to keep the NFC capability. Or what about removing the NFC chip, sticking the charging pad to the inside of the case (as opposed to on the body) instead and reapplying the chip on top so the pins match up with the phone again? (obviously you'd just have to be careful as hell when removing the back plate.

The only parts needed are from a Pre/Pre+ touchstone charging back. Nothing is needed from the Pre/Pre+ device itself.
Touchstone charging is less power than direct USB from a computer or wall outlet. Since you leave the device on the touchstone whenever you're not using it, that doesn't usually matter.
The NFC antenna interferes with the induction. It's quite possible that someone else can find an arrangement of those two coils which works for both.

Not that I have been able to discern. It's electrically the same as using a powered USB Y-cable connected to the device.

Thanks for posting this! I've actually had that Flickr page bookmarked for about a week. I've taken apart my NS4G, checked everything out and took some pictures, and successfully put it back together.
I tried taking out the inductive charger from my old Palm Pixi back cover, but realized its different and wouldn't work, so now I'm waiting on a Palm Prē back cover from Amazon to use.
I'm nervous taking on such a task. The most experience I've had with physically modding phones is switching the board from a Verizon Pixi+ to my Sprint Pixi so I could have WiFi on it. It doesn't look terribly confusing or difficult though.

You must be very confident in your ability to solder *very* small components to get the connection to the USB 5V pin correct.
I stuffed it up the first time, and had to get a colleague to repair it, which took over an hour to do.

Ouch.. The soldering step will be done by my friend, who is much more proficient in soldering than I am. I'm confident in his ability and hopefully everything will go smoothly.
I just ordered a Palm Pre Touchstone kit off of Amazon as well... can't wait for it to get here.

Soldering the USB connection will definitely take a delicate/precise touch but I'm hoping with a set of helping hands and a fine tip it should be okay. Though I think I'm going to do a sort of "soft mod" first.
I ordered a microusb cable as well that I plan on stripping and soldering the leads to that at first, instead of directly onto the board. That way I can a)get some practice and if it looks like I overestimated my soldering abilities, I only lost a cable as opposed to damaging the phone.... and b) test it out before fully committing... I'll see if I can find a way to house both the NFC and the coil within the case. If I strike gold and find a way to make both work than out comes the screwdriver and its time for the permanent mod. With any luck the parts will be here next week ...
Question about GPS interference

Question for you. I simply just put the touchstone discs on the back cover so it would magnetically stay on my touchstone in the car, but ever since I did that, my GPS no longer works properly. Do you have issues with yours? Do the small metal discs interfere with the GPS antenna and especially, do they interfere when you have your nexus s on the energized touchstone where you have the magnets and the 5 volts generated from the coil as a possible GPS inhibitor? All I know is that my Nexus S which I just got a few days ago worked with the GPS. I then got started in the process of modding it to work with my 6 touchstones left over from my Pre, and once I put those discs on the back cover, my GPS has not worked properly at all. I even have a spare back cover that I put on and tried the navigation that way and it still would give me the big circle small circle, searching for GPS issues. Did I ruin the GPS antenna? Thanks.

This is probably because of the magnets in the charger. The s3 is the first with this type of charging and of course they do extensive testing to see the interferences and adjust the design accordingly. This option looks great but do you really know what it does to the rest of the phone? I guess it's not worth the risk to just have an awesome feature above a working phone.

That's why I was hoping that Rod could shed some light on his mod. Rods mod. I was also thinking of running a tiny wire up the inside of the phone that I would attach to the gps antenna that would hopefully get away from the magnets and discs. Its so simple to take this phone apart.

Wireless charging on the Note 4

I've been trying to look for qi wireless charging back cover for the Note 4 but haven't really seen anything for sale yet. Anyone here interested in wireless charging for the Note 4 as well? I mean I love the fact that it charges so FAST with the fast charger but whenever I'm not needing to charge in a rush I want the option to charge it wirelessly.
Yes I'm very interested in wireless charging as well. I don't believe there's anything out for the note 4 at the moment. But I'm positive that there will be some really soon . for now I'm good with just fast charging

I ordered a S View cover from Verizon. There are two different S View covers though. One is normal and one is for wireless charging.

I'm interested in buying one of those since I don't even want to have something like an S-cover (or any other case for that matter) on my Note 4. I'm only held back because I'm thinking of getting an original Samsung qi enabled wireless back (just the back) cover to avoid any damage to my N4. Do you have any experience using such receivers? Problems like overcharging? Does it affect the NFC?

I used one of these on my N3. Having a small bump on the back where the qi receiver was.... Very annoying for me personally. Will wait to get the factory back from Samsung this go around

Verizon has the wireless charging back in white for sale on their website. The black is out of stock at the moment. Question is it any thicker than the normal back? In the past the thicker qi back would prevent cases from fitting properly.

It looks like both are sold out now. Unfortunately you can't even place an order to get in line for when they get back in stock, which seems broken. I'm debating whether or not I should go with wireless charging again. I had it on my G3 and it was handy but with the fast charge on the Note 4, I may deal with the minor inconvenience of attaching a cable to get the super quick charge times, top it off and then unplug.
We should be seeing resonant wireless power systems coming within a year or so. Your phone will be charging when within range to the transmitter, similar to getting wifi when your in range of your router.
Ranges won't be as good as wifi of course, one or 2 rooms maybe.
For those interested google Strongly Coupled Magnetic Resonance. Or SCMR.

Hi. Yes I love wireless charging and have been using it for years.
I used it on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 3, and now I am waiting for my Note 4 to arruve and I will be using it on that too. However, the charging back cover is expensive, and it will make your phone thicker so gel cases etc may not fit.
If you do want one though you can find it at a few places, for example..

What I use charging pad which is a thin squarish pad which fits over the battery. It has contact points to connect with the phone. When placed on any Chi charger it will charge the battery. I prefer this method but if you carry a spare battery and you like to swap them then this may not be for you.

I AM LOOKING FOR A CHARGING PAD FOR MY NOTE 4 SM-910F (DO NOT HAVE IT YET) BUT ALL I CAN FIND IS ONE FOR THE SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 N9100. WILL THIS WORK ON MY PHONE? If you get the sticker you can still use any case. I you get the Samsung wireless back it is slightly larger then the original back therefore limiting what cases you can use.
On my S5 both worked fine and I have both ordered for my note 4. I have not received the sticker or back yet.

The particular sticker I got for my S5 sticks to the back not the battery so I can still swap out batteries. You do have to make sure the contacts are lined up right each time which is no big deal you just need to be conscious of it when putting the back on.
I love wireless charging. I have 4 Itain charging docks. 2 for me and 2 for my wife. I have the s view wireless flip cover for myself. However i bought the wireless receiver for my wife for her to use until the s view wireless flip cover is available in white. I didn't notice any over heating while charging it on the Itain dock. I did notice that the adapter got hot the first use, but its been ok since then. I also noticed that the wireless receiver got warm from battery heat on my wifes phone., and started to slightly separate. I will continue to monitor this . Overall its a been a great experience. I keep the dock by the bedside and in the office. I have a flat charging mat in the living. I'm looking into getting the Itain car dock and mounting it in the armrest. The battery life has been so good I rarely needed to quick charge it. i have it off charge for as long as 1.4 days with moderate use.
FYI. I have not tried NFC on my wife's phone with the receiver I got on Ebay similar to the pictures in this thread.

Although active in the rom part of the 1+1 forum, I rarely spend any time in the general section and I thought why not post something? so a little backstory on the cable.
I want the fastest way to charge my phone and what can I do to improve that?
- Get a better charger
- Get a better MicroUSB cable
Our stock charger is capable of 5v 2.1A well the actual amperage it can give is less than 2A, I can't draw more than 1.8-1.9A on my phone even with my custom cable
So I got a quickcharge 2.0 charger just to try it and have a spare one, finally it became my main charger as it's rated at 5v 2A but actually can output 2.1A!!! phone is drawing that much, ranging from 2 to 2.1A - with stock cable it's a bit less than 2A but pretty close(around 1.97A to be precise)
So how's this custom cable I've build? it's like this:

So it's a 18AWG and it's rated for "Maximum amps for chassis wiring: 16A" and "Maximum amps for power transmission: 2.3A" ..so it's capable of sustaining 2.3A without any problem(heat or power loss), if you use a very cheap microusb cable it can take up to 6 hours to charge your phone(as you can imagine the cable can play significant part) - Cable wire is of course copper so you know

I'm too lazy to do that hhahaa(as a computer tech guy I do many stuff and I have record many of my actions but I'm too lazy to edit my videos and post them online), but honestly trying to fit an 18AWG cable in a usb and microusb jack is pain in the a** because the wire is quite thick but it's an one time hassle, I permanently fix the wire(can't be removed even if I wanted to, the only way to fit new microusb and usb jacks is to cut the wire) - Trimming plastic inside the jacks without doing any damage just to fit the cable can be time consuming :crying:
Something that I didn't mention is the size of the cable, its the same size as stock
P.S. At best you'll find 20AWG cables in the market and some cost quite much

Thanks. Really I was simply wondering to which contacts the wires went, but I'm sure the layout is on the web, and I'm probably not gonna do it anyway.

If you were close to me(same town or next one) I could do it for you for a small fee but don't do it if you're not very capable with ur hands and soldering iron
P.S. soldering them wrong can actually damage the phone permanently or even make the batter explode and/or charger(it's basically a short circuit) - you've been warned
My jacks are filled so after I solder the connections they can't be removed ..there are airtight also this cable is suitable if you use public chargers as no data would be "stolen" if one of the public chargers is modified - this uses only two wires and it's for charging

On the bad side, if you need to transfer data you can't with this cable ..but I rarely use cable for data(I mostly use wifi connections to transfer data, or bluetooth) - Why? unessesary small-chargings will harm your battery, so if you connect the phone to your computer to transfer data better let it charge up rather than do your job and remove it, less than 1% charge frequent uses it will shorten ur battery life significantly
Even if I wanted to make it a full fledge cable with 18 AWG wire this is impossible, also it will become heavy for a usb cable. I barely fit 18 AWG cable(but it's capable of up to 2.3A(constant use)!! our phones can't draw 2.3A(no phone can ..at least not one I know) so it's great)
I wanted a wire with 2.1A constant use so it would have nearly no power loss(or voltage drop), putting a thicker wire won't make any different but 18AWG compared to stock, there's different. Especially if you compare a cheap 1 euro Chinese microusb cable with this one

Although I'm really happy with my cable and it's my first pick when in hurry and need the faster charge available, two days ago the Chinese were celebrating something so I've bought cheaply(compared to original price) a Wsken magnetic micro usb cable(original), if you don't know whats that it's a microusb cable with magnetic tip. How does it work? check the picture:
I'll measure charging rates when received but I don't expect to be as good as my cable ..but in the night when in the dark a magnetic connection seems wonderful(also great if someones trip in the cable ..it won't make ur phone fall, it will be disconnected). If you put it backwards, it still works(but only for charging) so you can safely use it on public, just connect the cable in reverse. What's bad about this? well this comes with 2 microusb adaptors and one cable, you need that specific cable so if you have lots of devices you need to carry a cable with you(and it's not cheap) - Hope it has similar thickness as our stock cable so charging won't take long, can't wait 5 hours charging(as with some very cheap microusb Chinese cables)

Did you recieve this cable? I'd like to know your experiences. I know for a fact that the Znap cables are experiencing a lot of delay but there are a lot of Ebay clones on the market now.
Was going to buy this one but I have no clue if it works though.........

Yes I receive the cable(if ur talking about the magnetic one) and charges up to 2.1A ..max amps for our phone

Too many apps in the internet but I prefer the "Charger Timer", measures from 20% until 80% ..where the phone gets the "fastest" charging because when battery is low or way to high it draws less power(so battery will last longer)

I've been after a new charger since my original one plus charger broke, been using a nexus 5 one instead.
Been using it for a while now, I got this one
I like it a lot! It even transfers data from and to my PC! I just have to make sure the led faces the bottom to transfer.
I do not know if it works on ALL oneplus ones as there seems to be a lot of difference in these devices, so don't take my word on it!
It also charges fast, just as fast as the original cable. I just ordered another one to use in my car.
