[MOD] Without ROOT get rid of LAG on G3!!! - G3 General

If you are experiencing some of annoying LAG on your G3,here is how to get LAG away (works with my G3) :
1. Enter the following based on your device model:
3845#*855# (for International model)
3845#*851# (for T-Mobile)
3845#*850# (fot AT&T)
5689#*990# - LG Hidden Service Menu Thanks to @ericdabbs SPRINT G3
Dial: ##228378 + send, LG Hidden Service Menu (Reduced) ... Thanks to @asialove2013 VERIZON G3
!!! Verizon- don't know, because when you enter model number of these two carriers nothing happens. Someone could check this out and tell me !!!
2. Scroll down to High Temperature Property OFF,and select
3. Turn it ON...
4. Turn G3 fully off...
5. Wait at least 10sec...
6. Turn it back on and wait about 30sec. when Screen Lock shows...
!!! NEW ADDON !!! For more speed... Tested by me for 14 days... Everything went excellent! Follow these steps after you have done those above...
1. Again enter hidden menu according to your device model number
2. Select Thermal Daemon Mitigation OFF
3. Turn it ON
4. Turn OFF your G3.
5. Wait for around 30sec
6. Turn it on and after lock screen appears unlock it
7. Wait for at least 60sec more for G3 to finish sync and stuff
8. BOOM much more fluid and much faster G3
... BUT... Now that you have activated Thermal DAE you display will not lower screen brightness anymore. So if you put it to 90% it will stay 90%,if you put it to 100% it will stay there (be caution at 100%,test it)... I put mine to 80-90%,and never had G3 hot or misbehave strangely while playing games, recording 4k video, shooting pictures... Just one thing I noticed... IT IS BLAZING FAST Also you can test it after Clean Master clean up like by Antutu and see test results.
LAG-FREE G3
And of course you can buy me a BEER,Heineken

Nice. Thanks for the info.

at g2 thread there are many people complaining about decreased battery life and reboots while charging, however they've noticed increase in performance. please keep an eye on your g3 and share your experience of a full day and while charging

I'm confused as to what this setting does. Does this turn CPU temperature throttling ON or OFF? According to TricksterMOD Temperature Throttle is OFF by default.

There is an awful lot of stuff in here anyone know what the other stuff does? Thx btw OP

dynamic lcd refresh on/off - enable/disable ; fixed fps test - options are enable 38fps 40 45 50 55 60fps
backlight value change - off (value 2027) ; on (value 1892)

Can tell a difference but I'm not sure if thats just placebo :/

Have you tried the sport scene? The thing with the G2:s camera seems to be that you really have to choose the right scene to take good pics in every situation.
I find this acceptable, because every scene is optimized and gives the best performance for the occasion instead of one for all that is mediocre.

Replace battery or reset the phone even if your apps aren't running they still search for connections. Also radio 4g LTE can be running whih can kill battery really fast depending on you area.

I bought it from the company dealer in UAE.It is great phone, the only defect I could say is that It has no voice mate pre installed as claimed in the reviews. Moreover , when you use car bluetooth for dialing, it does not respond to the call button at all. Before for Galaxy s3 I have no problems. I was using Cyberon Voice speed dialer after disabling google search. Now for LG, even Google is not appearing on the screen. If anybody knows how to solve this problem, kindly help me

Hi, I got the same problem, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632125 you can read all the test I've already made.
I think someone could help us in the developer thread of LG G2 with for example an Xposed module.
I cannot ask in that section cause I haven't enough priviledge and nobody seems to take into consideration this annoying problem...

[Guide] How to get the most out of your brand spanking new G3!

Just thought I’d put a short guide together on what I think are some things to do to get the most out of your spanking new LG G3 when you get it or you already have it. Most of you guys might already know most of this or might not. Just thought it might help some people. This ain’t rocket science but every little bit helps!
Battery:
This is the hardest thing to do because like a fingerprint everyone has a different set up with apps and how they use their phone (wifi vs 3g vs 4g etc) that screen on time will always vary. Also you don’t want to turn everything off and cripple your brand new smartphone just for your battery. There’s a balance.
However here are some general things to do that do help:
1. Install Greenify from the Playstore. I have found this is the number one way to stop drainage. This app will hibernate apps when not in use. It doesn’t stop their functionality at all but hibernates them.
2. Don’t use Google Now. I think it’s a gimmick and does bugger all for me however if you use it it will drain your battery big time. Of course if you love it then use it!
3. Don’t use location services. Another big drainer. Just use it when you need it. However if you have apps that need it then of course leave it on!
4. Use ‘auto’ on screen brightness. Mine is on ‘auto’ but at 100% and the brightness is perfectly ok for me.
5. If you continue to get big drainage then download Betterbatterystats from the Playstore and look at the ‘wakelocks’ – this way you will be able to see what’s draining your battery. As a general rule your phone should go into deep sleep for at least 80% of the time.
With this phone I am getting around 5 to 5.5 hours Screen on Time. You should be getting around that too.
Performance:
Here are a few things only that really do help with speed and performance:
1. The whole thermal throttling thing is a pain i.e. LG’s decision to turn down brightness when it gets hot. However there is something you can do and which I have now done for two weeks with no adverse problems. Turn it off! Put this in the phone app: 3845#*400# and then scroll down to 'high temperature property' and switch to enable and do the same for 'thermal daemon mitigation'. Please note my model is ‘400’ so this will work in the number sequence above. For models with other numbers I am pretty sure you just substitute and put that number in e.g. 855.
2. Go to Dev Options and change the transition animation scale, the animator duration scale and the window animation scale to 0.5. This little thing speeds up your phone like nothing else.
3. Root your phone with towelroot. One click root! And then start debloating. Get rid of whatever you want by downloading Titanium Backup and going into each app and freezing whatever you want. Freezing is safer than uninstalling but does the same thing. Debloating is a must!
4. So once rooted then start using xPosed modules by downloading and installing the xPosed framework and then rebooting.
These are my personal Top 3:
a. Download the brilliant xPosed module ‘TweaksBox’ by P_Toti located at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792242
And donate something to him! This allows you to change so much with this phone. I dunno where to start. It is superb.
b. I dislike the LG skin so immediately download the Google launcher – to me it is the fastest launcher out there beating Nova and Apex. This launcher cannot be customised however there is a fantastic xPosed module that allows you to customise everything - Xposed Gel settings located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xposed-gel-settings-t2647275
And donate to him too!
c. How good would it be to extend your nav bar seamlessly if you slide your finger! Well you can – download Xtended nav bar here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xtended-navbar-t2787228
And donate to him too!
I can’t think of anything else but these things definitely help.
And get ready for your G3 – it is super duper great!
lol donate this donate that, you sounded like their marketing... nice tips though, I'd like to ask between betterbattery stats and gsam battery monitor, which one better?
will towelroot work on the d855 version?
also what is the difference between greenify's hibernating with titanium backup's freezing?

Ha yes someone's got to donate! They do so much and get so little.
Yes the only reason I said bbs is because I'm used to it. Gsam does the same thing essentially.
Yes from what I read towelroot should work.
Greenify hibernates an app in the background if you are not using it whilst freezing apps effectively uninstalls them without the pain of then being actually uninstalled. And you can unfreeze them any time.
okay, again thanks for creating this thread, btw how do we take screenshots from g3?

If you turn off the "Ok Google" listener you will save most off the battery drainage, I find Google Now pretty handy.

Yes I've debloated some but just the safe ones. There's heaps there though.
How are you finding yours? I'm loving mine but just hoping more developers get on board. Tell your developer mates please!
Is there any danger turning off the thermal thingy. Could the phone completely overheat?
I'll just confirm for anyone wondering that indeed the turning off the thermal throttling does work by changing the device model number to "855" on the UK version
No adverse effects in last half hour or so and have been trying to run demanding tasks to see how it go's
You can uninstall all of the bloat without any issues. It also helps with your battery life. I usual get 4 hours of screen time post charge. That's more than most people can get on a stock kernel, and it's great for a 2k display.

and also I'm such a noob, can someone link me a guide to use tapatalk efficiently?
thanks for the help
No torch/flashlight app preinstalled, you will have to install one. Also no task manager that I can see.
What is the best torch app you recommend?
Also task manager? Doesn't the android multitasking app work finely for that?
I am using"flashlight hd led" which seems fine.
Yes android does, I just liked the task manager on the G2, not sure why they didn't keep it.

[Q] fake note 3?

Hello. I bought Samsung galaxy note 3 from ebay. ( I live in the uk)
The device had to be USA Today mobile version. Also listing said that it is unlocked and rooted.
This was the listing..
m.ebay.co.uk/itm/271656781405?_mwBanner=1
I received phone and tried to check the phone if it's fake or not. All specs seem fine but I don't get this part.. looks dodgy..
It seems real, according to the UI and kernel and build number. The security software is embedded in TouchWiz itself, nothing dodgy that I can see there.

Hmm. The word "enforcing" makes me nervous..
Couldn't the seller like use fake device with like 1300mhz processor and other bad specs like 1gb ram then take it and root it as note 3 look-a-like tricking device hardware checkers of the real specs?
edit: also what's that weird kernel version?!

'Enforcing' is normal, it means that the security software in your phone is running properly and protecting your phone.
If the phone is fake, you would definitely see a few blemishes in the software such as conflicting software version (4.4.2 is correct), status bar icons and size (correct too) and the back of the phone could've been a normal battery cover without Sammy's faux leather but through your screenshot I can see that it's a genuine version.
If you still can't help but worry, there is an app in the play store called Phone info Samsung that tells you if your phone is real or not.
Its normal to have the kernel version look weird, only developers understand it Attached is my kernel version (different because I use different kernel).
PS. My UI is different because I use CM11.
this is what I see on that app you suggested.. are there any other parts in the list I should look at to see all is correct?
btw thank you guys for helping
Looks perfectly real to me.

- Ugly new Bootscreen (@ some devices)
-You can't show off anymore with Whopping benchmark Results because cheating stoppped.

MANY_OTHER_DISADVANTAGES
Here are some disadvantages of Android 4.4.2 /in the order they cae to my mind!)
- App-Ops Removed
- I liked the Green/Blue battery icon!
-Many problems with Battry! (Because of process ANDROID OS) (And even more if you use Skýpe!)
- SD-Card Problems (Please, Google! If it's to insecure, then please just unlock full access for ES3 and RAR!ForAndorid!
-WiFi-WLAN-Problems
- Much more Unprofessional
- More and More unneeded restrictions
- Data Loss Bug (only 4.4.2 not 4.4.1)
- MTP-Instability
- Less chance for IsoBuster to win through in data recovery (IsoBuster made by Peter van Hoove.)
- Built-In TouchWiƶ-Data Explorer does WIPE instead just of delete! (Ressource Waste, Battery Waste and No Data-Recovery Possible! 3 Disadvantages!)
- New YouTube version with Tons of Bugs: PRE-INSTALLED!
- Ugly new Bootscreen (@ some devices)
-You can't show off anymore with Whopping benchmark Results because cheating stoppped.
- Less than 109 Other Reasons (maýbe around 90 or so.....)
There' also many advantages but only 4,7% as much as the Disadvantages!
- Slightly More Performance and shorter booting time
- More Costumizeablity (only in a few areas, but even more loss of costumibealitzy!:crying
- I like, how the Build Number KOT49H sounds. BUT.... Try to Translate the German word „Kot“ in your preferred language! (In case of Animals etc.)
- Only a few other reasons :crying:
I love Android Jelly Bean.
I hate KitKat (the WAFER „KitKat" is tasty but the Android-Versoin is bitter! Sémi-Ruined my life!)

Sorry I didn't see any attachment.
Regarding "NO MANUFACTURING DATE", you can check using *#12580*369# and look for the "RF cal" field.

„Data loss Bûg“ explained:
Here is what the (this terrible) Data Loss Bug is.
App-Ops were still there in 4.4.1.
4.4.2: DATA LOSS BUG; APP OPS REMOVED!

It's ONLY there on 4.4.2!
HOW TO AVOID:
If you want to Move Files from your device, then COPY first, then delete the files on the primary device. It's just like moving with one step more...
What happens(Happened to My Android 4.4.2-Device! Horrible!):
1. You Move (not Copy) some Files from your device to your Computer (Maybe the DCIM-Folder for example) (Whatever you move, number of files doesn't matter at all. And also size, and number of folders, dates are égal. (Matterless - Do not matter) .)
2. Then the Connectoin hangs up.
3. The Device Rebôôts.
4. You recogniƶe - Why soo much free space?
5. Oh, CARP! NO FILE AT ALL! Where are all the Files????? (Only User Storage is Erased, Root-Storage is still there. But...)
But you know, there's only ONE way to get your files back (if your device has a Locked Bootloader, and also is unrooted)
Open the Device, search for the Data-Storage Hardware and try to connect it to your computer.
No other way. Thanks KitKat at all for deleting 10 GB of data - Data Recovery isn't possible with MTP and to unlock the bootloader there's something cellad DATA FACTORY RESET - Wipes (Safe-Deletes the whole Storage.)
i want to Enjoy my life! I love my Life. But i believe that Android 4.4.2 hates me. Too bad. :crying:
... - But i truly like Android Jelly Bean !
I hope, that the Android-Developers and Android-Enginiers will remove the 4.4.2-Disadvantages as soon as Possible! Also the Number 4.4.2. sucks a little bit...
I wish, that there would be an EXACT German Translation for „sucks“, too bad, there's not.
(Example - Two-Digit year-numbers (do) suck.)
...but i'm not here to talk about language!

To check if it is fake, do a benchmark with antutu. If it scores from 40k to 45k it's a note 3 original

36k is fine. Your device is not a fake but may be not a original one.

Stop spreading disinformation, you are either deeply ignorant or highly delusional, the Note 3 Snapdragon always was around 36k:

Antutu 5.x gives significantly higher scores than older Antutu 4.x (http://www.antutu.com/en/view.shtml?id=7900). In Antutu 4.x my Note 3 N9005 scored around 36k-37k but in Antutu 5 it scores now between 41k-42k.

How to port Night Clock&Always on display to G920F(In theory).

DON'T TRY IT UNLESS YOU CAN CAREFULLY READ INSTRUCTIONS AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
Even though it's quite safe I still recommend it for people that can strictly follow instructions. I've tried it. It's safe. But only if You FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
UPDATE I found this little app that kind of replaces Always on. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hisl.glance.free
I was playing with my phone quite a lot recently. And I found a couple of intereting things.
1. Flash system.img +boot.img through odin of G925F.
Result: Edge features work. Yup. It means that Night Clock works too!
But. The touchscreen is inverted.
Quick fix: flash g920f kernel(and lose edge functionality immediately) then go to dialer, dial *#2663# and download touchscreen driver to get rid of mirrored touch.
Full detailed instructions:

I haven't tested lightning edge yet. But all You have to do is:
1. Download stock rom for G925F from sammobile.
2. Open the tar file and remove all files except system.img and boot.img.
3. Flash it.
4. You'll get inverted x axis of touchscreen. So when You touch left side of the screen. The touchscreen will recognize it as if You were touching the right side.
5. You can now somehow go to settings (using the inverted touchscreen) or a keyboard or a mouse. And turn on night clock and other edge features.
6. To go back to normal touchscreen. You'll have to follow strictly those steps:
1.Flash stock boot.img for G920F using odin.
2. Dial *#2663#(on inverted touchscreen You'd have to tap #*2441*) and tap on tsp touch update.
3. Reflash stock rom for G920F with odin.
4. Enjoy.

So my guess is that to port always on feature we will need to somehow port the kernel functionality. Cause it seems that it works the same way.( yes I did manage to get always on display for couple of seconds to work. But IT NEARLY KILLED MY PHONE so don't try that on Your devices. And I won't post a guide.how to do that. It's a serious danger.)
For now I'll play with those things a little more now and see what I can do. (Obviously not much).
Oh and a question for developers!
What does ro.expect.recovery_id= mean in build prop? Isn't it something connected with inability to get twrp to work on MM?
Anyway guys. I just wanted to share my experience with You. And btw I'm working on a Galaxy S7 port for G920F(even though it seems kinda hard to do..)
DO NOT EVEN TRY to flash or boot another device's boot.img/recovery.img to different device! It can cause permantly damage on your device!
ro.expect.recovery_id doesn't prevent anything on TWRP.

They have identical CPU's(motherboards most likely too). And I only said boot.img from G925F on G920F. Also I wouldn't tell anyone to do something that can destroy their device.
I tried it on my device first. It's like rom developers would give to other users untested roms lol.
Quick Edit: It's a good advice. Don't ever do that, but if someone with some "knowledge" has done it, and tried it, and also it's identical devices then You can try it too.
But only when it's SAFE and confirmed to not cause any harm.
Why would you want this? It's going to be a battery vampire.
It takes less battery on the S7 because the SoCs are more efficient being 2nd Gen FinFet.

Some people want it. But like I said chances of getting it to work are 0.000001% if not less . Personally I'll wait till S7 price goes down. and then I'll buy it. Maybe I'll get S7 edge but I would need a 5 minute test drive first. And I think that it wouldn't be a battery "vampire" that much. But we probably will never be able to check that.
Update guys! Look what I found https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hisl.glance.free it works nearly identical like Always on display! .
What about making an xposed module?
Always-on is just asking for burn-in on your nice amoled

I'm working on CM13 so sorry if I don't check this thread.
Anyway. Amoled displays usually have burn in problems. But so far I guess Samsung fixed it on S6.
