Android 4.4.2 is designed to fix major bugs on 4.4 version, but reports flooded Google with new issues or persistent old ones that could imply why Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 is needed.

Full Details about latest 4.3 XXUGMK6 (BTU) Official
So basically I decided to publish this thread about latest official( Un-rooted STOCK) 4.3 XXUGMK6 (BTU) Official firmware.
I tested this firmware as already many of you already did. But I find some bugs or 'Mistakes' in the firmware.
]DETAILD ISSUES
1.) Music Player (STOCK)
-Adapt sound option enhancement is not added in galaxy s3 4.3 firmware. But in GS4 it is present.
-Music playback is not well. You might find playback is fluctuating at some point. I performed hard reset and then tried again but still it is present. and Even tried on my other gs3 4.3 and problem still occurs although it is occasionally happening but its still present. My other friend using S3 have same problem So i think its a Music player problem.
-Share via option has been removed from music player. ( see the attachment).
2.) Very high RAM usage.
- In previous version 4.1.2 XXEMG4 ram usage was actually normal. But I find that 4.3 JB has more usage than previous one.
3) Poor battery performance
-I hardly get 18 hours battery in normal usage. and with gaming and wifi its about 12 hours.. All other custom roms out there (even CM) has far better battery performance.
4.) Setting FCs
-In setting -> Security-> Sim alert change. is not working. My setting menu keeps force closing. and my both S3 has got same problem . I performed HARD reset but still Its a BIG BUG.
I attached screenshots.
and Yes there are no GS4 Goodies like "SMART FUNCTIONS","LENS EFFECT","CAMERA",etc.
at least they should give us 4.3 360 degree feature. But no. its not.
Well there are some good things about this firmware too.
1.) Graphics are really improved You can easily feel the change while playing games and watching videos.
2.) Some how transitions effects are smooth than previous 4.1.2 .(till now)
3.) New Touchwiz theme looks pretty decent.
4.) and other few.
Basically I wanted to know that what do you think about Samsung whether you are gonna update your device with same company or swicth? because I felt they just ignore previous FLAGSHIP phones just to improve there new ones.
Please add your review about this firmware too in posts.
Try lastest ML2 firmware or neat rom, and greenify apps like facebook and facebook messenger, turn off S-voice, turn off google play service, and basically turn off everything else your not using, then restart the phone and see the ram difference, if still high open application manager and check whats running and close it.

[Q] Android KitKat 4.4.3

Hello everyone.
A friend of mine sent me this.
" Google addresses Android 4.4.2 camera bug, says fix arriving in a future update
There’s a nasty little bug some users have been experiencing since updating their Nexus 5′s (and other devices) to Android 4.4.2. The big involves the camera application in Android 4.4.2 that when either opened by the user or triggered in the background from another app (Skype for instance), causes the device’s CPU to max out, resulting in abnormally high battery drain.
It’s not a good time for anyone, but try not to worry too much because Google is hot on the case. They’ve officially acknowledged the issue in their bug tracking forum and have promised to address this issues (and others) in a future maintenance update (likely Android 4.4.3).
Keep in mind that Google was only able to verify this issue on the Nexus 5 and recommends that Android users with other devices report the bug to their respective manufacturers. This has to due to with custom Android software (Sense, TouchWiz) that could also be triggering the camera bug, and will need to be addressed separately.
To find out if you have the bug, you’ll need to jump into your Settings > Battery and check to see if “mm-qcamera-daemon” is consuming a good chuck of your battery percentage. If it is, a reboot is said to help but it’s only a temporary fix. Also, uninstalling apps like Skype, Tango, etc. that use the camera may also help. It’s not the best solution, but it might be your only option until Android 4.4.3 is pushed out sometime in the future.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=60058#c475 "
Anyone has the updates on this?
Regards,
This is specific to the Nexus 5, not the Nexus 4..

[Q] Update or not?

My tegra note is currently running jellybean 4.3 & I think its fairly unstable as I have many issues like:
1) occassional missing of notification bar & navigation pannel
2)whenever a USB drive is unplugged, the SD card will not be read until its dismounted & mounted again.
3)system hangs more often.
4)sometimes OS doesn't appear to be smooth.
5)faint frame drops in most of the games, though ignorable, yet noticeable.
6)In AOHDR mode, pictures are worse.
I came to know that kitkat as well is not without issues.Problems would be:
1)disability to access SD card.
2)unauthorized use of camera by apps & abnormal battery drain as a result.
My question is:Are there fixes or updates for the above mentioned jellybean 4.3 & kitkat 4.4 issues?

While KitKat still has a few bugs, most have been fixed. The SD card issues have all been fixed, and because as of OTA 2.5 you will get ES file explorer as a system app, which means you can move files on and off the SDcard with no trouble. The battery issue is a bit of a problem, but it just depends if you want bugs or battery I guess. Another thing that came with this update was an improved stylus system which has foxed almost all stylus problems.
Thanks Jake

Thanks for the response......
I know kitkat has a better GUI & also some added optimizations.I'm not much worried about the battery issue either, but I certainly fear its cause.Google's official explanation for this battery issue is that, some of the apps use the device's cam without the user's knowledge & for the very reason Google advises its Kitkat users to stay off video chatting apps like Skype,Viber etc.I am a frequent user of these apps & can't afford to loose them. That's why I'm delaying my update for a desired fix to roll out.
In b/w......, You mentioned about the SD card fix & all, right?Could you please tell me exactly how many fixes & updates have been released after the 4.3 version(in their chronological order) & the purpose they serve & also your personal experience with each of these releases?Sorry if I trouble you with the demanding question..
just update it and have done with it. none of my three are showing any bad signs after the 6 or so that have come through. and the updates often fix the flaws you are complaining about.
if you are worried about camera hacking then put some insulation tape over it when not it use. unless someone has an anti camera hacking app

Yes,I think the newer devices should come out with camera shutters as well.My Asus laptop has a physical camera shutter to prevent hacks.Even my Asus netbook has an led indicator to show the camera status.

Should I uninstall xposed framework and unroot before applying this ota?

Reply to myself on this one - turned off the xposed modules I was using then uninstalled xposed framework. Didn't bother unrooting as had used method three. OTA worked just fine.

It says implement, I am not sure myself.
Same here, Stagefright Detector still shows vulnerable.
Under battery I don't see screen and other stuff, it only shows android OS, I need to charge it full I guess?
I can't update (noone of 3 methods works for me, and i don't know why).. is there a way to make update ota with root?
For everyone who's having troubles updating, or worries about updating with root:
Remove root & exposed, restore the stock recovery, and make sure your system image is kept in a stock-like state. Anyone having issues updating with any modifications is taking a risk; a risk that is acknowledged whenever you modify your system beyond the factory configuration. There are too many permutations to consider as to why things are failing or broken after attempting to update if your device with root, exposed, bootloader unlock, and so on.
So before asking how to update, do us and yourselves a favor and remove everything you've done that breaks warranty. Restore the factory image if you must, but if you're worried about updating and refuse to undo your tinkering, just wait and see what people say in here.
It's hard enough to nail the actual bugs and issues in an update without false positives from people who break stuff by improperly applying an update. We want to make sure that ASUS knows what to focus on for legitimate issues
/rantover
---------
My experience with 59 has been positive so far. Battery life seems the same or slightly, slightly improved. The ability to disable built-in ASUS apps seems to still be intact for me as well (I came from 58 to 59). No excess heat, boot locks, lags, etc. Will have more experience within 24 hours.

Same as x..40.58 ??? Witch difference ?
Well, it makes sense to be very similar to .58 since this is only one digit off with .59 most likely a quick patch for install problems I would guess.

Upgraded to STABLE Android 12 One UI 4? How's it going?

I'm curious to know from those who updated/flashed to the STABLE (NOT BETA, please!), how is your phone working so far? Do you have any issues? Were the issues from the BETA resolved?
Format: (So that it's easier for people to associate with their device)
- Model: Snapdragon/Exynos
- Openline or Branded
- Updated via OTA or Flashed
- Dirty flash or FULL reset?
- Issues:
- What do you like/dislike:
Your post will greatly help the community.
Hopefully carriers will start pushing the Android 12/One UI 4 update for the Note 20/Ultra OTA this upcoming week. The S21 on VZW pushed it OTA the same day as the European roll out, so maybe its not too far behind for US carrier branded Note models.
-Exynos
-Unbranded
-Flashed with Odin (Switzerland firmware)
-No issues detected
I generally like the new animations, the new popup PiP design (rounded corner and possibility of resizing the window), battery life seems to be as good as before. The possiiblity of making AoD turn on when receiving a notification is nice and resembles the old Motorola active display feature. New Pro Mode layour for camera is better. I also enjoy the integration of the same animation for loading screen system wide, it's a nice touch even though I think the animation itself could be better. The gesture system from Google (Swipe from sides and bottom) now is usable with a 3rd party launcher, though it's still a bit clunky.
The only thing I dislike is the brightness bar in the notification tray which is now "tall" all the time and takes more space.
I must say that I didn't notice any particular difference coming from the second Beta (for Exynos there were only 2 beta releases), the first one was a bit clunky but the second was already well cooked. As far as I've seen there are no new issues introduced with this release, the 2 I knew of that were introducd with Android 11 still stand: Samsung gestures (swipe from bottom, the 3 way one) don't work as smoothly as in Android 10 because the recents gesture is not interactive and triggers only on finger release, the "currently playing" notification in the tray sometimes resets (when you reboot for instance it appears showing the last thing you were listening to).
Overall I'm happy about the update, it's a minor one for sure but they succeeded in not screwing up.

Thank you for this, @Sprov!
How about on connectivity, WiFi, Cellular, 5G, WiFi Calling/VoLTE, don't you have any issues? Connecting to BT devices like Buds Pro or any audio devices, Google AUTO etc.?

Everything as smooth as always, now that I think about it I had to pair again the Buds Pro during the first Beta (it was working at the beginning though) because the media would play but there was no sound output. In my area there's no 5G to test. 4G and calls fine as before, WiFi, GPS all alright. I don't use Android Auto
I have two very annoying issues with One UI 4:
- Overheat
- bad animations (lag, fps drop and etc)

As far as I've seen there are no new issues introduced with this release, the 2 I knew of that were introducd with Android 11 still stand: Samsung gestures (swipe from bottom, the 3 way one) don't work as smoothly as in Android 10 because the recents gesture is not interactive and triggers only on finger release, the "currently playing" notification in the tray sometimes resets (when you reboot for instance it appears showing the last thing you were listening to). Overall I'm happy about the update, it's a minor one for sure but they succeeded in not screwing up.
I guess the Swiss version won't work with BTU?

-Exynos -Unbranded -Flashed with Odin (Switzerland firmware) -No issues detected I generally like the new animations, the new popup PiP design (rounded corner and possibility of resizing the window), battery life seems to be as good as before. It works with BTU, in Odin use home_csc for retaining your data.
Clean install here and everything is smooth and I feel it have a better battery life then before..
Anyone got a ZIP file of the software ending in LF on android 12? The sammobile site is slow at downloading files from.
Model: N986U xfinity or comcast doesn't matter.

Awesome thank you. Next task to work on is how to root it. And get this bootloader unlocked officially.

Hello ,
Exynos
Phone buy Samsung Shop web
Flash with Odin PC , Switzerland firmware
Just update , i became from beta 2 , i use home csc . I conserve all data
My phone is more smooth , more reactive . For battery , it's difficult to say it's more better . Good works .
Codec LDAC is functional since a few update , i like that with my Soundcore Life Q35 .
I like this update but it's not a big update .

Not sure about the high temperature, but I read in other forums that factory reset can't fix the laggy animations. I think for this we need to spam on Samsung Support. Also, I did heavy debloat with some PC app, and seems the battery life is drastically improved. I may share the result in a few days.

Does LDAC stick once it's enabled or do you have to keep enabling it? Do you also need to go into developer settings to activate it?
Sucks. On my Verizon it killed the top of the display; first row of icons. Posted a thread in Q&A.
My advice is: Don't!
Immediately used adb app control to kill updates.
Now what?
I'm still on beta three, I haven't had any issues with any of the releases myself 986U1 ATT
- Model: Exynos
- Branded
- Flashed
- Dirty flash for starters, then did a FULL reset?
- Issues: Lots of little ones, Bluetooth Buds continually disconnecting as well as Galaxy Watch 4, Alarm keeps turning off when hit snooze button instead of snoozing,Google Assistant does not always work with voice wake up, this is a problem when driving. Plus a couple of other small things I can't remember at the moment.
- What do you like, most things I like, Dislike that Android Auto for Phone screens no longer supported, have to use Assistant Driving Mode that does not work in landscape mode and is absolute rubbish.
I have now gone back to Android 11, till I see that these problems are fixed.
I did try the Beta version before the stable one, and that have most of these issues as well, so thought should have been fixed for stable release.

I'm curious to know from those who updated/flashed to the STABLE (NOT BETA, please!), how is your phone working so far? Do you have any issues? Were the issues from the BETA resolved?

I have no (AS IN NONE) issues with the Stable A12. Everything is working as it should and the device is gr8!
- Exynos from Malaysia (XME)
- Unbranded
- Updated via OTA
- Dirty flash
- Issues: Whenever I use the notification panel it gets laggy, like it were set at 60hz
- What you like: I love it, it handles overheat better.
