So far so good. Great rom. Thanks

Rom is not booting fcing at setup wizard even if without gapps or with gapps
Finally i have dirty flashed it over liquid smooth 4.4.4 as it had same Android version and same kernel it booted and working like charm
Rom review :
SMOOTH
Fast
Everything is working
But
Like i previously faced that all featured roms feel somewhat laggy and slow after contentious use
If someone facing setupwizard crashing even after installing gapps or without gapps then go this way
-u have any 4.4.4 rom in u r phone then
flash it( withall wipes)
- boot it and complete setup wizard
-Now go to recovery
-Dirty flash(without any wipe) sokp rom and gapps
-Rom will boot directly without setupwizard

As it been mentioned in the OP ,the procedure is :
1-Do all wipes (data/factory reset +cash+dalvik cash+format system)
2-Flash the ROM ONLY
3-After ROM flashing has been completed , reboot system
4-Then reboot again into recovery & flash your Gapps
&you're done !

- Wipe cache and dalvik
- Flash ROM And Gapps
- Reboot
USER NOTES/BUGS
Everything works including camera, gyroscope, sound, accelerometer, battery stats, etc.!
You should expect conflicts between the various ROM controls, especially the UI controls between AOKP and PA.
For first time users after bootup:
Settings > System > Navigation Bar >Tablet UI soft buttons, check
Settings > Rom Control > General UI > Show Menu UI Overflow (otherwise there is no way to enable MTP, open browser settings, wifi settings, etc)
Settings > Storage> Menu (three-buttons at top right)-> USB Computer Connection > Media device (check MTP)to make sure your TP usb charges properly. I had to go into portrait to see the three buttons. It should already be checked
To get softkey buttons in navbar, go to Settings->System->Navigation bar->Tablet UI soft buttons (check)
AOKP tablet UI setting overrides PA's.
To set phablet or phone mode, first uncheck AOKP's setting:
Settings->ROM Control->General UI->Force Tablet UI
then
Launch option at Settings->Paranoid Settings, pick your UI
Use the Pie Launcher in phone mode
PA UI reboots may shutdown or hang. Just reboot, i.e. hold power key to restart if shutdown, power and menu keys if hung.
tbob's WebOS Switcher app works.Updated WebCM10 for Schizoid 01/12/13 but you will have to reconfigure the systemui.apk each time you change modes.
LMT Pie Control in settings allows PA 2.99-like pie launcher (with permission noname81)
Using the Touchstone charger is funky. If you have problems with the tablet not charging, go to Settings > Storage > Menu (three-buttons at top right)-> USB Computer Connection > Media device (MTP), disable MTP, enable camera mode, then re-enable MTP. This also works with usb charging problems.

Btw guys how to I enable the on screen keys(IE the back, home and menu button on the lower left hand corner)?
Wow, awesome! Works great so far.
Edit: The way the app switcher works in tablet mode is more like 4.1, not like in PA/4.2.. I don't think I'll be able to port WebCM10 for now.

Go into Paranoid settings and convert System UI from Phablet to Tablet UI.
Then, go into AOKP settings and enable "Force Tablet UI" to enable the on-screen buttons.
(At least that's what I did.)

Cool, well maybe the next version.. It'd be possible to port, but probably more trouble than it's worth and portrait would be broken again. I'd guess it has to do with some of the AOKP bits in there.
Updated ROM and OP
The OP link has updated info. and a link that fixes the clock FC's. If you don't want to reflash, you can copy the DeskClock.apk from a working ROM (I used PA 2.99, but jcsullins CM10 should work) and replace the one in system/app. Reboot and the FC's are gone.

thanks. 2 more questions...
1) anyone got dolphin browser beta working on this rom? mine closes itself immediately after I open it.
2) the status bar seems to cover whatever app is open at the moment. For example, if you open settings, you can see that part of the top is covered by the status bar. is anyone else experiencing the same?

If you want more sot use accordingly. You can check the screen shots. Thanks for keeping cancro flag high......

Is anybody facing google contact sync issue? I used the same Gapps package (pico) and my contacts aren't synced. Settings>Account>Google doesn't have Contacts inside. Not sure if i messed up anything. I'll clean flash once again if you guys haven't met this issue.
Edit: Clean flashed once again and Contacts can't be synced through Google. I used the exact same package on exodus and contacts synced fine. Screenshot attached.

Open Gapps 0723 pico. Working with RR, DU & Exodus. But not this. I switched from BaNkS to Open Gapps since I get random reboots while updating apps in Play Store sometimes.
Is BaNkS Gapps fine? I would switch to it if it's working for you (Contact Sync) since this ROM has all the feature I want while not being too bloated.
reboot once and check Settings>Account>Google.. i always had the same problem in beanstalk.. after reboot contacts used to sync

Yes with BaNkS Gapps everything is fine.
Can anyone tell me why doesn't Substratum detect the theme installed? I even restarted and installed busybox then rebooted again. Still, it's not getting detected. Storage permission is granted to Substratum. Root is granted to Substratum and the other app which seems like a package with it.

Wait for themes to update to latest version of substratum.
To start things off:
SuperSU is included in the ROM. Contacts aren't synced with OpenGapps (the exact same Gapps package worked well with Exodus), so make sure to use BaNkS on this ROM. I also use Xposed (which works well on this ROM) but no module like Gravity Box that might affect the stability. My modules: Youtube AdAway & Screenshot Delay Remover.
Boot Screen:
Screenshots attached at the very bottom. I'm not a fan of it the lightning animation.
Misc.:
Sensors, audio, camera, etc. all work fine.
Customisation:
This ROM is quite customizable, including my favourite single-tap hardware buttons to be switched to Screenshot. But it isn't well implemented like DU. I use an Xposed mod called Screenshot Delay Remover which changes the screenshot delay from default (around 1 second) to 0s. On DU, both single-tap hardware button and Power+Volume Down take 0s to initiate a screenshot. However on ZephyrOS, I notice a lot of delay initiating a screenshot using single-tap hardware button (around 1sec) but Power+Volume Down takes only 0s. That is my only complain which probably most people don't care about.
Battery:
The best. CM kernel always has the best battery here in cancro. So if you're using other ROMs with CM kernel, you may expect the same battery life here. Screenshots attached with CPU frequencies.
Bugs:
1) If you go into the "Performance" tab in Settings, Settings app force closes.
2) The Quick Setting tiles are quite fked up when you try to move the tiles around. It is a "hidden feature" in this ROM, which means it's not in the Settings app. You'll have to press and hold the Settings button after pulling down the quick settings. A screenshot is also attached.
3) Of course, with CM kernel, you can expect the super awesome Bluetooth audio bug which has existed for around 6 months I believe. In short, Bluetooth audio doesn't work. @audahadi has already fixed it in AICP according to users.
4) While playing a YouTube video in Landscape mode, I'm not able to pull down the status bar to check for time nor am I able to see the Volume Bar when I'm adjusting volume. After around 1 minute of video-playing, the video lags just like when you're using a potato computer to run Battlefield. And after a few more seconds, SystemUI crashes. There is no force close message but with my experience using CM Theme Engine, I know very well how restarting SystemUI looks like. After SystemUI restarts and unlocking your device, YouTube closes. Not sure if it's caused by early Substratum development bug or what. I'm using the latest Spectrum theme. The substratum app is also up to date. And I'm too lazy to test without any theme applied.
Theme Engine:
This ROM includes Substratum which is something that took over Layers. It is still in its early stage (launched around a month ago I believe) so it might be buggy. Too troublesome to use for me. I still prefer CMTE.
Conclusion:
TL;DR: Quite buggy, overall experience was good. Remember to use BaNkS Gapps. Thanks Shahan for the ROM!

About Project:
Cardinal-AOSP is a Custom ROM which was initially based on AOSPB, then we changed our mind and rebased it to AOSP-RRO, to get better compatibility with most of the devices. And now we are based on AOSP on oreo.
The main aim of this ROM is to bring stock AOSP experience as much as possible while maintaining performance, smoothness and good battery backup.
I hope that you'll all love this project, and help us, shape it even more better.
Meanwhile, all of our sources are publicly available on our Github. We also do own a Google+ Community, where you can.... uhm... you know, do what all others do at forums and communities! Hope you enjoy your stay and like our work on Cardinal-AOSP.

It allows easier installation of MicroG. MicroG is an alternative to Gapps where you don't rely on Google Play Services, it provides the end user with more privacy from Google however some developers have claimed the signature spoofing opens up a security loophole but I have seen others mention they are using that as an excuse to avoid falling out with Google, I won't name anyone involved as it's controversial.

I'm wondering what's the process to install MicroG here?:
Do I have to flash the ROM, then Gapps, load Android, remove Gapps and then install MicroG?
or can I just install the ROM and then MicroG? I feel like doing that the phone may fail to boot?

Yes, it's working for me on my P2C72 with an F2FS format Data partition. I can't speak for the P2A42.
Can this rom be used as a daily driver ? The reason I am asking is because the developers have marked it beta. Now I don't use volte or NFC so I don't have any issue using. Just need to know if the rom is stable enough and don't restart frequently or loose mobile signal. Please let me know

It seems stable to me so far. I am having trouble getting Magisk installed but I just found out I can use ext4 and still have fingerprint working so that could be it.

This one is a lot more up to date and as a result has less bugs.
I couldn't get Magisk to work the install.zip created an error most times, and it soft bricked my phone when I had it set to F2FS.
I went back to EXT4, flashed SuperSU and I have root access now. I think I have MicroG working mostly but I haven't been able to add the F-Droid repository yet.
If anyone is interested in getting root access and SuperSU working I will post up a tutorial, it took me a lot more trial and error than you might expect.

Fingerprint works but FP gestures will not work.
Any hope for FP gestures in this ROM?
I have found a few bugs and issues:
- Video recording doesn't work, the camera is very dark and playback produces a still image with sound (will try Footej camera again) Footej camera works for video recording but the exposure or ISO is still very low.
- After the phone enters deep sleep (from not using overnight), I couldn't unlock the screen, the display stays black until reboot or mashing the buttons a lot.
- Signature spoofing for MicroG shows as unsupported (see screenshot at the end) I have tried using Snapchat and it says Google play services aren't supported on my device, I installed MicroG following the tutorial on Github exactly.
- The screenshot from power menu isn't timed correctly it creates a dull and dark screenshot because of the transition, on a similar ROM it was often taking a screenshot of the power menu itself and not what is displayed on screen.
- Always on display should not be used because the clock is a still image, on an AMOLED screen this will eventually cause burn in.
- Expanded desktop doesn't work as it should. After the navigation bar buttons disappear they are sometimes still pressable, ie: I have Nova Launcher behind the home button, I wait until the home button disappears but when I press the Nova app drawer button it press the homescreen instead, I had this bug on other ROMs too so I assume it's ported from the LOS base.
- Kernel Adiutor crashes on boot
https://imgur.com/a/QmagX
Everything else is working fine so far.
You can ignore this my phone was being buggy and didn't fully flash the new ROM.

Everything else is working fine so far.

Magisk only works with ext4 file system! And video recording issue has been there since many days not an issue now! Screen unlock is normal see if you have disabled some app bymistakenly.

Yes, I meant I installed it with ext4 data partition and during the install it gave me some error. SuperSU works anyway so I prefer that.
The screen unlocking doesn't work properly; when you have expanded desktop turned on. That's the issue and I had the problem from a clean install with only that setting changed. If I turn off the navigation bar, or turn off expanded desktop then it's fine. Turn it on and blackscreen instead of screen unlock. I think it's relating to the encryption on my phone because when I was using F2FS it fixed the problem.
I will try to flash again if you're sure video recording isn't an issue it seems like some settings are hanging around for no reason, considering I did a full wipe pre-install it's odd unless these bugs are exclusive to the P2C72 (I read somewhere it uses different camera hardware).
Btw, I was thinking with Magisk since the problem comes down to the Moto/Lenovo kernel if I flash your Magma kernel before install would that be a workaround for the bug or is the fix not included yet?
Thanks
everytime i boot after installing rom, it says To resume using your phone, you must perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you’ll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account”.

Finally released, congratulations buddy.?
Bad download link?
Edit: can download on PC but not in the mobile app. Copying the text of the op and copying the gdrive link also works but not directly clicking on the link in the op.
Could just be me also.
nice rom with nice features, but for me notification sound is chittery, disturbed,...
Looks great:good:
"Wipe System/Data/Dalvik Cache/Cache
Select both the ROM and Gapps zip files
Flash
Reboot!"
no twrp is included in the installation process, so you will loose twrp recovery after reboot. In addition, opengapps can't be installed in one hand with the rom as it doesn't recognize the rom.
Previous rom was V10.3.14.0.PFQEUXM (directly flashed via fastboot method and one time initial setup)
Wow, sounds good! waiting a stable (without bugs) to test! Thanks for developing!!!
So Finally Firehound Has Hit the dack. Nice ROM loved it on the first test.
Audio is shattering in Media playing rest is fine till now.
I will check it by installing another kernel for this.

I'm using it too. How is your fingerprint (FOD)? Mine is not very accurate...
I didn't notice audio setting (maybe due to Viper?).

Yes January stock rom. Could be Bluetooth version issue. The device I connected to was Bluetooth 4.0.
Anyway you could check with a Bluetooth 4.0 device/speaker?
I could be completely wrong, just eliminating some possible issues
After nearly 2 days i finally have a working fingerprint with a custom rom. Thanks to the developer.
But, why is the install instruction that "simple" - there are more steps to do bring this rom to live.
I am on stock EEA rom and want to change to this rom. So I installed TWRP (fastboot flash boot RECOVERYNAME.img).
After reboot into recovery i am in boot slot a.
I cleaned the partitions as indicated (wipe system / data / dalvic+cache).
i installed the rom.
Next step is not possible, gapps (opengapps open_gapps-arm64-10.0-pico-20200127.zip) tells me it's not the correct version and i need version 16.1 SDK 28 (?) to proceed (doesn't matter if i was putting gapps in a queue together with the rom as indicated or as a single install afterwards). In addition, i have to flash now the twrp installer otherwise i'm loosing the recovery).
I rebooted the phone: FASTBOOT mode or i see the bootlogo for nearly 1 hour and nothing happens.
Nothing is written about the no_fde patch or what kind of stock rom is needed, what to install in which partition etc...
Install instruction 2.0: after installation of the rom, you must reboot the phone into recovery again (that changes the slot from a to b or vice versa) and there install the opengapps and the no_fde patch. Otherwise, your reboot will end in a bootloop or simple in fastboot mode.
Is the instruction just a copy / paste from the original thread of the rom developers?

You need to reboot to recovery after flashing the ROM, otherwise you'll be in the wrong slot.
Is there any way to encrypt the phone after installing this ROM? (and have flashed the No_patch_fde.zip)
Sapper Morton said:
The patch_no_fde much for contrary belief, won't remove FBE encryption from Mi A3, it rather relies on modifying metadata encryption and disabling AVB, the latter being the most important for us, that disables boot verification, thus allowing custom software booting.[/URL].

But I'm facing two issues:
1. While TWRP loads it says FBE data can't be decripted. Is it an issue from this TWRP version?
2. I can't encrypt the phone. The process starts but the phone reboots and enter the system again, unencrypted.
The camera app is working great with automatic and Pro mode. Changing to other presets like hdr, beach etc. results in a very blurry or grainy image. I am fine with the pro mode, but want to mention it. Any of you with the same problem?

For those who want to remove force encryption, use something like Zackptg5's solution, Dm-Verity, Forced Encryption, and Disc Quota Disabler.

As suggested elsewhere, I tried not flashing patch_no_fde. Then I cannot boot into FireHound system. I tried just wiping data twice and it does not boot. It bootloops to TWRP.
So (for me), if I do not flash patch_no_fde, no boot at all.
And, if I flash patch_no_fde and boot FireHound, I cannot encrypt the phone anymore..., as the encryption process reboots the phone and do nothing.
Are you sure you're booting the ROM and the phone is encrypted after flashing patch_no_fde?
If so, would you be so kind to post the step-by-step? Thanks.
reverse back to stock boot system vendor dtbo whatever, until your device is working (both slots). when device encrypted, boot into twrp from fastboot (if you can) otherwise flash dtbo, twrp and boot into recovery. if twrp is not able to decrypt, claim it to twrp maintainer
- mount /vendor
- backup your /vendor/etc/fstab.qcom (adb pull)
- format userdata (only if twrp is not able to decrypt)
- reboot twrp and create folder /data/unencrypted (magisk cheat to keep encryption)
- install rom (both slots)
- install twrp
- install magisk
- install disable dm-verity (delete forceencrypt from zip name)
- install gapps (see below)
- adb pull /tmp/recovery.log (upload here)
- reboot and wait for initial encryption a long time
- reboot twrp and compare changes in fstab (if encryption not working)
a proper fstab have fileencryption=ice flag on /data
installing gapps
before installing gapps run this mounts (depending on twrp built it may required)
Code:
mkdir /system_root
mount -w /system
mount -o bind /system /system_root
mount -o bind /system_root/system /system
