About Project:
Cardinal-AOSP is a Custom ROM which was initially based on AOSPB, then we changed our mind and rebased it to AOSP-RRO, to get better compatibility with most of the devices. And now we are based on AOSP on oreo.
The main aim of this ROM is to bring stock AOSP experience as much as possible while maintaining performance, smoothness and good battery backup.
I hope that you'll all love this project, and help us, shape it even more better.
Meanwhile, all of our sources are publicly available on our Github. We also do own a Google+ Community, where you can.... uhm... you know, do what all others do at forums and communities! Hope you enjoy your stay and like our work on Cardinal-AOSP.
Changes on top of AOSP
NOTE: we won't be accepting any feature requests, and only essential features will be added to enhance stock AOSP experience.

It allows easier installation of MicroG. MicroG is an alternative to Gapps where you don't rely on Google Play Services, it provides the end user with more privacy from Google however some developers have claimed the signature spoofing opens up a security loophole but I have seen others mention they are using that as an excuse to avoid falling out with Google, I won't name anyone involved as it's controversial.

I'm wondering what's the process to install MicroG here?:
Do I have to flash the ROM, then Gapps, load Android, remove Gapps and then install MicroG?
or can I just install the ROM and then MicroG? I feel like doing that the phone may fail to boot?

Yes, it's working for me on my P2C72 with an F2FS format Data partition. I can't speak for the P2A42.

Can this rom be used as a daily driver ? The reason I am asking is because the developers have marked it beta. Now I don't use volte or NFC so I don't have any issue using. Just need to know if the rom is stable enough and don't restart frequently or loose mobile signal. Please let me know

It seems stable to me so far. I am having trouble getting Magisk installed but I just found out I can use ext4 and still have fingerprint working so that could be it.

This one is a lot more up to date and as a result has less bugs.

I couldn't get Magisk to work the install.zip created an error most times, and it soft bricked my phone when I had it set to F2FS.
I went back to EXT4, flashed SuperSU and I have root access now. I think I have MicroG working mostly but I haven't been able to add the F-Droid repository yet.
If anyone is interested in getting root access and SuperSU working I will post up a tutorial, it took me a lot more trial and error than you might expect.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I will also try this ROM but I have to wait 7 days till Bootloader is unlocked. I will also root my P2 so I will be glad if you make a tutorial for this.

Fingerprint works but FP gestures will not work.

Any hope for FP gestures in this ROM?

I have found a few bugs and issues:
- Video recording doesn't work, the camera is very dark and playback produces a still image with sound (will try Footej camera again) Footej camera works for video recording but the exposure or ISO is still very low.
- After the phone enters deep sleep (from not using overnight), I couldn't unlock the screen, the display stays black until reboot or mashing the buttons a lot.
- Signature spoofing for MicroG shows as unsupported (see screenshot at the end) I have tried using Snapchat and it says Google play services aren't supported on my device, I installed MicroG following the tutorial on Github exactly.
- The screenshot from power menu isn't timed correctly it creates a dull and dark screenshot because of the transition, on a similar ROM it was often taking a screenshot of the power menu itself and not what is displayed on screen.
- Always on display should not be used because the clock is a still image, on an AMOLED screen this will eventually cause burn in.
- Expanded desktop doesn't work as it should. After the navigation bar buttons disappear they are sometimes still pressable, ie: I have Nova Launcher behind the home button, I wait until the home button disappears but when I press the Nova app drawer button it press the homescreen instead, I had this bug on other ROMs too so I assume it's ported from the LOS base.
- Kernel Adiutor crashes on boot
https://imgur.com/a/QmagX
Everything else is working fine so far.
You can ignore this my phone was being buggy and didn't fully flash the new ROM.

Magisk only works with ext4 file system! And video recording issue has been there since many days not an issue now! Screen unlock is normal see if you have disabled some app bymistakenly.

Yes, I meant I installed it with ext4 data partition and during the install it gave me some error. SuperSU works anyway so I prefer that.
The screen unlocking doesn't work properly; when you have expanded desktop turned on. That's the issue and I had the problem from a clean install with only that setting changed. If I turn off the navigation bar, or turn off expanded desktop then it's fine. Turn it on and blackscreen instead of screen unlock. I think it's relating to the encryption on my phone because when I was using F2FS it fixed the problem.
I will try to flash again if you're sure video recording isn't an issue it seems like some settings are hanging around for no reason, considering I did a full wipe pre-install it's odd unless these bugs are exclusive to the P2C72 (I read somewhere it uses different camera hardware).
Btw, I was thinking with Magisk since the problem comes down to the Moto/Lenovo kernel if I flash your Magma kernel before install would that be a workaround for the bug or is the fix not included yet?
Thanks

Smoothness of Stock ROM with greatness of RRO Themes

What is AOSP?
AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.
Anyway to get a working system I added some changes from CodeAurora Forum and CyanogenMod. I added also 3 non-AOSP features for a better user experience (Advanced Reboot, "Clear All" button in Recents and an option to delete screenshots from the notification area) and I'm NOT going to add something other.
What is RRO?
RRO (Runtime Resource Overlay) which was designed by google and its modded by our developers to include it into AOSP ROMs.In short,RRO is a Theme Engine replacement and it can do wonders!
Features
AOSP
Layers 4.2 (U don't find this in all the ROMs)

Can i just install the ModGoogleCamera_5.1.018_R4X_v.4.5.apk to be able to use google camera so i don't have to reflash?
Just a bit concerned to install it because virus total says it has a virus? Result below..

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

Changelog 08/19:
IMPORTANT NOTE - READ BEFORE FLASHING:
This build has VIMB 4.9 as inline kernel. VIMB is primarily designed for performance and gaming, and has CPU overclocked to 2.2 GHz. OC is completely safe, lots of Vince users including me have tested it and it works flawlessly.
If you only use your phone for light usage, I recommend you flash the latest Dark Ages or Fate kernel; both are extremely good.
Device Changelog:
» Switched default kernel to VIMB 4.9 (CPU OC to 2.2GHz)
» Enabled electronic image stabilisation (EIS)
ROM Changelog:
» Fix gesture for camera launch, it is now treated as a double press on power button
» Make autofill dialog background white on inbuilt black and dark theme
» Some SEPolicy fixes
» Add per app VPN data restrictions
» Add some SurfaceFlinger changes from CAF, fixes Android Auto for some devices
» Set Google autofill service as default, incase no GApps are present, none will be set
» Merge latest pie-gsi changes from AOSP
» Some Bluetooth fixes
» Optimize scrolling distance
» Long pressing on gaming mode tile will show extra info about what the toggle does
» Battery Saver tile improvements
- battery % is shown as the label for the tile
- "Charging" is shown when the device is charging with the same look as lockscreen
- "Fully-charged" is shown when the device is plugged in and charged to 100%
» Show the minutes in Text lockscreen clock on one line
» Remove animation from pocket mode since it causes flickering
» Fix high battery drain after using flashlight
» Don't vibrate on touchscreen camera gesture
» Added RGB accent picker in place of current implementation
» Fixes for the new accent color picker
» Improve performance of unclipped layers
» Allow modifying GPU render mode in Developer Options
This rom is sooooo gooooood!! im in love with this!!
my review about this rom
so far so gooood. no bugs. been using it for hours. no battery draining and heating issues. i tried first using the default kernel which is the VIMB4.9 to know if the battery is good and for me it is. maybe i will no longer flash dark ages kernel because i havent experience battery draining issue yet and im getting 6-8 hrs of SOT or more. I can live with that
oh I almost forgot. the latest update has no font setting where I can change font style. just wanted to know why. but other than that i have no problems here maybe there will be font style setting in the future update. i will recommend this rom to others
THANKYOU FOR THE ONES WHO CREATED THIS ROM SUCH A MASTERPIECE :good:

Spark OS (Unofficial) - Android 13
ReadMe: DISCLAIMER :
This is my personal build that I am using it as daily driver and I am sharing it in this thread. I am not planning to make the development official due to time concerns, but I'll make monthly builds in free time and release it. You may also join the telegram channel or post queries in this thread and it will be addressed. Do not ask for OTA in any formats. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermal problems, or any problems you face in your personal or business life because of your dead device. Do some research if you have any concerns about the features included in the rom before flashing it. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and If you point fingers on me for messing up your device, GOOD LUCK !
AOSP based rom with customization focused on stability, Pixel like experience and most of all smoothness.
What is working ? :
Almost everything is working including:
Stock like FOD (implemented Framework Dimming)
Volte
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
Turbo Charging
Screencast
Banking apps work fine
Prebuilt recovery included
And all most widely used stuffs for daily use.
Known issues:
Call volume adjustment in Instant messaging apps (Whatsapp, telegram, Duo,etc) for wired headsets don't work. Will be fixed later. Fixed
There is a little bit offset in UDFPS animation position, but fingerprint scanning works fine (cosmetic bug). Fixed
Installation:
If you are coming from Stock Rom or other custom rom, Clean flashing is Mandatory and follow the steps below
You MUST have unlocked bootloader and android 11 firmware on your phone - Remove your lockscreen password!!
Flash LineageOS recovery or A13 boot image via fastboot fastboot flash boot <name of the recovery img file>.img Click here to download LOS Recovery img and zip | Boot Image
Reboot to recovery
Perform a factory reset
Navigate Apply update -> apply from ADB
Sideload the rom zip file adb sideload <rom zip name> or if you have sd card or otg just copy the rom in that and flash through sd card or otg.
Follow the same process to flash los recovery zip (OPTIONAL) (the same way how u flashed rom zip) - Prebuilt recovery is shipped with rom since May 2022 security patch.
Reboot System and Enjoy
To Upgrade to future spark builds you can dirty flash. Follow the steps below
Reboot to los recovery (in case you've installed that) or prebuilt recovery.
Navigate Apply update -> apply from ADB
Sideload the rom zip file adb sideload <rom zip name> or if you have sd card or otg just copy the rom in that and flash through sd card or otg.
Follow the same process to flash los recovery zip (the same way how u flashed rom zip). (Skip this step if you need prebuilt recovery).
Reboot system.
For Users who prefer rooted experience (Magisk 25.2)
Reboot to your recovery after flashing rom or whenever you wish
Navigate Apply update -> apply from ADB
Sideload Magisk zip file adb sideload <magisk zip>
Reboot to system.
In magisk app, enable Zygisk and enforce denylist. Select Play Services, Playstore, Banking apps and other apps that are crashing due to root.
Clear data on these apps for the device to get certified and retain functionality.
Reboot again.
Note: For updating to Magisk 26.1,
You must have Magisk 25.2 on your device and update to Magisk 26.1 within the app with no modules disabled.
You will get a prompt to flash Magisk inside the app.
Select "Direct Install (recommended)"
Reboot and Hide Magisk from the app settings.
Hide your banking apps properly along with google playservices and playstore.
Then clear data on those apps, reboot again and setup your apps to retain full functionality.
Follow this method properly to get all modules working. Otherwise some modules like jamesdsp (if you have installed) may break.
[If you're about to patch the boot image, here is the updated new boot image (06-Apr-2023)]
Though Custom Kernels are supported (like 912, Noname), It is preferred to use the kernel that is shipped with the rom.
Download and install Franco Kernel Manager or Horizontal Kernel flasher to your device (search google)
Flash kernel zip only in FKM or Horizontal Kernel flasher.
Reboot.
If any app closes or crashes while you're opening it, it might be Safetynet issue, to solve this,
Flash safetynet fix in magisk. Click Here
Sometimes, custom kernel may solve the situation.
Clear data of the crashing apps.
Reboot and relaunch the apps.

Two questions: The los recovery isn't built in rom, so we must flash the zip. installer. Isn't? The magisk zip must be sideloaded and no installed from cd card. Correct?
Did anyone test the rom?

Yes. LOS recovery is not inbuilt. You have to sideload the zip after sideloading the rom. After rebooting to recovery flash magisk by the same procedure.
I haven't tested "installing from SD Card functionality". From telegram groups of other popular custom roms, some people install through this SD card procedure. People who use the method may share their experience.
bro there is bug in Udfps animations they all are little off position...
and i request can u add Quick tap feature in the next build...
And i have suggestions for users to Better FOD
:- Use batt 912
:- Better if u use only stock icon and stock FOD animation
:- change FOD Press colour to white(one which has red colour inside)
:- This one makes the FOD very accurate but at one cost which is u gotta change ur SElinux to permissive...

Didn't notice the animation offset earlier as I have not used it. Yes, the Quicktap has been added already in device tree, it will be available once the source is updated. Good suggestions!
Bro my device security level Is still L3...how to change it to L1?
The mainer bug I am facing is I can't change wallpaper in lockscreen. The monet engine I think needs optimization... I would prefer in lockscreen clock more fonts. The left shortcut in lockscreen doesn' t work.
My first thoughts. Thanks.

Try going back to stock preferably December 2021 update, Flash persist partition ( check google or here) and lock bootloader. Then Update to latest available patch. Check if it changes to L1.
If you are still stuck on L3, you cannot come back to L1. It depends on your luck.
Note: Remember you are messing with persist. If you do anything wrong, You may end up messing your Sensors, IMEI, etc.

Some users of Spark-rom of other devices reported the same monet issues. It is due to lawnchair shipped with the source. But, on my device monet works fine even on lockscreen.
Try clearing data on lawnchair, btw, if you have rooted and if lawnchair asks root permission, don't give! All others ( Fonts and shortcuts) too depends on ROM's source.

I've tested it in 25-02-2022 build. Lawnchair is the one creating the problem, when I tried to port pixel launcher it creates stability issues. They have to fix in source.
