[q] unable to sideload - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since root and freezing apps I just realized I couldn't sideload. It says install but it's unclickable but it does let me click back. Any ideas?

its most likely user error.. i nvr heard this happen just from rooting a device.. are you trying by copying apk to fioe system and rebooting or by installing as a regular apk? what apk is it? what did you freeze?

It's from xposed or a auto brightness app try installing any app that you recently installed,
Sent to you from my slimmed down S5

Update:
I defrosted every single app AND fully removed xposed. And still, install is unclickable. So weird! Any one ever seen this? Also to be clear it's with any apk. I noticed when installing better battery stats but adaway, xposed installer both are on my Sd card so I tried them and they won't install.

Can't install anything

Anyone else having trouble installing anything. I have trying cyanogenmod and skyraider. Both wont let me install apps. Yet I can on my stock rom. I am rooted. This all started when I got the ota update popup.

Do mean anything, or is it only specific apps? There is a way to disable the update pop up, so if you don't want that to pop up (assuming it still is...) do a search to disable that.
Can't install anything. What I ended up doing was installing stock letting the ota update then rerooting. But it still wont let me install anything when on another rom. Just my rooted stock.

Before installing another ROM, did you do a full wipe of user data and dalvik cache? So if you go into the Market, does it download then say that it couldn't install? Did you try clearing the Market cache?
also...sometimes you have to unmount the SD card, install app, mount SD card. I have no idea why, but thats what i need to do for a lot of apps....quite a pain
Tried remounting sd card. Still same weird bug. All I can use is stock rom. Thanks for trying to help guess I'm stuck for now.

[Q] CM9 but no root?

Can anyone offer a suggestion why applications that need root are denied even though I have cm9 installed? Superuser just keeps denying them when I try to give them root, like Apex Launcher (It needs root for certain widgets)
maybe go the play store and see if there is an update for the superuser app or open the app and update the SU binaries. if that doesn't work, maybe try reflashing CM9 [just wiping delvik cache] and see if that reminds it it is indeed rooted.
Try app called rootcheck to verify you are properly rooted:
I'm not

Oke so the app tells me I'm not rooted, is there an easy fix for that? Seems kinda weird seeing as its a custom rom.

Wipe and reinstall. Don't update binarys. I know they have been causing problems on the latest update

[Q] NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a-lost superuser

NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a installed and fully working on my HD2.
However, I tried to use the Barclays Bank app without success. I read in the thread titled "Can't get barclays mobile banking app working!" to "Try rooting again, then install SuperSU from gplay. Then in SuperSU under Settings select Full Unroot."
I did this and the app now works but I've lost the superuser app that was installed along with the jellybean as well as the uninstalling of Super Su.
Is there any way I can get the superuser app back without a complete reinstall of jellybean? If I do a reinstall is there anyway of keeping all my current downloaded apps/settings?
Thanks.
as far as i know..if you reinstall the same rom you don't need to wipe anything...wipe only the dalvik cache..everything you installed will stay and every app that the rom initially have and "got lost" will be back...but i don't know what happens with 2 superusers...maybe uninstall the one you put on the phone

strange as google play says "Barclays Mobile Banking app
* Please note that this app does not work on rooted handsets *"
i would be surprised if it only worked on rooted phones anyway as almost all phones are generally not rooted

[Q] Nexus 4 with android 4.3 not correctly rooted?

I downloaded and flashed a fresh version of stock 4.3, and installed the supersu zip file through CWM. now i have a working device that is supposedly rooted.
my problem is that something is causing root privileges to do some weird things. I enabled root file manager on the rhythm software file manager, and it suddenly cant access my data on the internal SD card, but when i disable root for it, i can see the stuff fine.
As well, when i try to start Hola using Root, it starts, then flashes several times and stops.
Apps ask for root permissions fine, and it grants them fine, but they just aren't working right.
I have tried re-downloading and flashing a couple different versions of supersu through CWM, including the newest, v1.43.
Is this something that can be fixed, or will i need to start from scratch again?
Hey,
Got the same thing for getting to my sdcard content. Get to it thru /mnt/sdcard instead of /sdcard. This works for me with rooted 4.3.
Cheers

have you tried updating to the newest superSU to version 1.44 in the playstore ? should've been the first thing you did after flashing 1.43 as it fixes alot of the root problems

Nope...doesn't work as it redirects to the same place. There is a single file there that is unreadable named 0 and its 0kb, same as what I currently see

That was the first thing i tried as well. i also did a cleanup and reinstalled from the play store several times hoping it would work, but nothing. SuperSU seems to think i am rooted, because it doesn't complain about the binaries or anything, it simply grants permissions, but the permissions don't work right.

What did you use to root? Also are you using a custom recovery? Try flashing latest super user binaries with custom recovery. It should solve the problem.
I have rooted my phone with some Chinese application.

I have rooted it with some Chinese application, it had some blue color jellybean sort of icon. Sorry i don't remember the name of that app.
But i remember the procedure what i used. It is as below.
I connected my phone to PC and run that application in my PC.
So after a while that application detected my phone, and it started root process.
First the same application got installed in my phone and then it rooted. It hardly took 2-3 minutes to root.
Then I installed superuser latest version manually, and updated the binary in normal mode. That's it.
But now i am facing some problems like when i open some particular app, my phone get stuck and i have to restart it. And it is working quite a bit slower as compare to earlier (before root).

Although there is nothing that you seem to have done wrong, but a lot of chinese rooting apps install some bloatware in your phone, the performance of the phone should not be affected. Also do check once again if you have the root access using root checker app from the playstore. You also may have 2 different superuser apps installed, which might be causing the problem.

The application what i used was "iRoot", and i am using superuser with the updated binaries. But still it causes the problem of getting stuck. There are few apps like Solid Explorer, Gallery, and more get stuck while opening them and i have to restart the phone.

You should consider using custom ROMs.
