What did you use to root? Also are you using a custom recovery? Try flashing latest super user binaries with custom recovery. It should solve the problem.

I have rooted my phone with some Chinese application.

I have rooted it with some Chinese application, it had some blue color jellybean sort of icon. Sorry i don't remember the name of that app.
But i remember the procedure what i used. It is as below.
I connected my phone to PC and run that application in my PC.
So after a while that application detected my phone, and it started root process.
First the same application got installed in my phone and then it rooted. It hardly took 2-3 minutes to root.
Then I installed superuser latest version manually, and updated the binary in normal mode. That's it.
But now i am facing some problems like when i open some particular app, my phone get stuck and i have to restart it. And it is working quite a bit slower as compare to earlier (before root).

Although there is nothing that you seem to have done wrong, but a lot of chinese rooting apps install some bloatware in your phone, the performance of the phone should not be affected. Also do check once again if you have the root access using root checker app from the playstore. You also may have 2 different superuser apps installed, which might be causing the problem.

The application what i used was "iRoot", and i am using superuser with the updated binaries. But still it causes the problem of getting stuck. There are few apps like Solid Explorer, Gallery, and more get stuck while opening them and i have to restart the phone.

You should consider using custom ROMs.

How can I check if my Aria is rooted?

Hey guys long time htc phone guy, fist time andriod user. I just rooted my phone and I would to know if there is a way to check that its rooted.
Restart/reboot and if the "whoosh" att boot logo junk is gone...youre good!
not true, unless you have installed some custom ROM which removes the AT&T flash screen.
An easy way to check if you have root is to try to install an application which requires root previlege.
Or, since most root method will install SuperUser, check if you have a SuperUser application installed.

[Q] D2 no longer rooted?

Ok so I had rooted my D2 a few days ago and had been looking into backup/recovery apps. Now however it seems as if my phone is no longer rooted. Is this possible? I thought I had read another thread where someone else was having this problem but was unable to find it. I tried to open up my superuser app and titanium backup app, but both ended in a failure and asked if my phone was rooted. Thanks in advance for anyone's help with this!
Also, just noticed that my superuser app isn't working correctly. The widget changed from being labeled "superuser" to "superuser permissions". I had assumed that this was after my phone had updated some other applications, however the superuser app won't turn on, it just gives me a black screen. When I tried to update through the market it said "Package file was not signed correctly". I'm unable to find the app on my phone so I can delete and try to download it again fresh. Thanks again for any advice anyone has!
~noob
Yeah. Phones can unroot themselves. This usually happens when the phone updates itself. Don't stress though... just root your phone again.
So, then with the superuser permissions app that I found on my phone...if I were to re-root my D2 with a different method of rooting vs the first way, would I be able to uninstall that superuser permissions app if I wanted? Thanks for such a quick response!

What was your first method. I would just use z4root. Also, did you install a custom rom? If so maybe reflash the rom after you are rooted again.

I had used the 1-2-3 step for rooting as my husband had suggested that. I have z4root installed now but haven't done anything yet. My husband had suggested I get some back-up apps for my phones system and also one for my apps in case I kill my phone. Will the droid 2 bootstrap back-up/restore my original phone system in case I do mess it up?

I saw a post by Android wizard extraordinaire, CellZealot, over at MyDroidForums, who claims :
"... it supports root and is an excellent build. It also supports using the band unlock and GSM performance is far superior to the previous radio firmware. Overall this build is incredibly stable and without question the best build yet for this phone."
That's good enough for me.
Has anyone received this OTA yet? Nothing yet for my two in NY (one rooted, one not).

Does this update require that I unroot my phone prior to it?
Could any person who has received the update upload it somewhere, please? I cannot wait to update my phone and root it again. I have tried to update it but it keeps telling me I have the latest software version.
Scanned the net and no one has posted the update...hopefully someone here will soon
nottin in new jersey checked on moto droid pro system update whats up with this enyone got this update runnin thankssss

Was rooted. Installed OTA update without problems. Then applications like Titanium Backup can not longer get root privileges. Ran Z4Root to Permanent Root again, it crashes and leaves phone unstable, most of the time freezing a few seconds later and I have to remove battery :-(

I second that!! Bloody takes them ages this time ... wonder why the holdup with some devices?? Its not like theres a million of Droid Pros out there ...
OK, so I can also root with SuperOneClick 1.7 after the update, but the apps like Titanium still can't get root from the SuperUser app. adb shell su also gets Permission denied (after reboot). Any hints?
Edit: problems solved by using aRoot. My conclusion: run aRoot post-update, not z4root nor SuperOneClick.
I lost root after the update and tried Z4Root with no results. SuperOneClick worked after I tried both root methods and rebooted the phone.
I am using AntTek App Manager to remove bloat without any issue. The phone seems more responsive and I have not had any random reboot until now.
Yep - aroot after the update worked. Re-froze the junk via Titanium and my Pro is running well.
For those like me who didn't know how to use aRoot:

[Q] S4 I9505 wont reboot into recovery after CF Auto root

Hi all hope ye can help. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to root my I9505 using the CF auto root method as described on this forum. It appeared to be successful on Odin but when the device rebooted i noticed thatb the red android didnt appear and that no apps could get root access. I followed Chainfires advice that states that manually rebooting the device into recovery would initiate the process. When i attempt to reboot into recovery (using the three button method) the phone device vibrates to acknowledge turning on however the screen stays black. It remains like this for quite some time until i let go of the buttons where it will vibrate again before switching off. Has anybody any ideas in how to rectify this?? (Rebooting into recovery from ROM manager causes the app to freeze)
EDIT: While attemptimg manual reboot into recovery, the splash screen appears with tiny blue writing and the screen then goes blan

Thanks for your quick reply. I have downloaded both apps and attempted what you have suggested. The superuser app can update but is unable to get root access while TB looks for root rights. In the process of restoring the firmware through kies and will try afresh
I've managed to boot into recovery only using the three-button combo.

how is the thing going so far if it doesn't work you can always flash a pre rooted Rom via odin and thanks for being nice with the thanks button u made my day
Try this Pre-Rooted Stock ROM for ODIN

I'm not rooted and I keep getting Custom Status...why?

I really don't understand this phone. I've been on a quest of 2 weeks to be rooted and on official status, finally i gave up everything because i was not able to have both. Finally i flashed factory rom through odin, formated a couple of time the phone, and i got back official status. I much rather gave up a few rooting benefits then OTAs, at least until they fix the phone's problems.
Well, this morning, i wake up, and that DAMN custom status is back....WHY????????? I'm not rooted, i'm 100% stock, i checked with rootchecker and my phone doesnt have root....then why does that damn status keep coming back??? There is obviously something else that triggers it......man i'm so deperate! Please help!

It's really not as big of a deal as you are making it. The way I see it you have 2 choices.
1. Exchange the phone for another (that might do the same thing)
2. Ignore it.
Just like every other Galaxy phone out there (you remember the skyrockets, right?) not all of them react the same way. Some get custom, some do not. Others switch back and forth.
I've noticed you have made many posts about this same thing. If someone hasn't provided a concrete answer that has worked for you by now it just doesn't exist yet. No matter how frustrated you are over it, making new posts about it are not going to change anything.
Its up to you if you keep wanting to post about it (I'm not complaining about it), I just don't think it's going to get you any more information at this point than what already has been said. Maybe I am wrong and someone will tell you exactly what to do to make it "official", but I haven't seen anything yet.
Good luck and try not to let it get to you so much.
euhhh no, they are not about the same thing, one was about retaining officiel while rooted, and now that i've given up on that, i still have a custom status, the reson why i dont report there is becuase poeple have seen the thread and will not go back, so in order to attract new poster i create a new thread. And no, i dont want to ignore anything because i want OTAs. If you have a problem with that, dont answer
You need to re-root (motochopper method) and then using a file browser such as "root explorer" go to:
/System/Xbin
Once you have navigated to the above path, delete these two files:
"su" and " busybox"
Once you've deleted the two files, uninstall SuperSU and reboot your phone twice.
You'll notice that after the second reboot the "custom" will revert back to "official"

correct me if i'm wrong but these 2 files, should not even exist if you install a firmware thru odin and format the phone a few times...
I went through what you have, I completed a full stock restore via Odin and these two files I mentioned were still there. Use a file explorer and go to the path I suggested and you'll see them there

I don't believe the current Odin contains a pit...or whatever it is that formats the phone...
So all Odin is going to do is reinstall everything...so replace missing or corrupted files - it will not delete your new files
Formating from the phone itself won't delete everything...its just going to delete your apps, app data, and cache
Therefore doing multiple factory resets and odins likely will not remove all traces of root...someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I believe is the case...

AT&T software update push or download will not work for your phone if it is showing custom. People like to be getting these stock updates as soon as they are published by the provider, not when some good heart packages a new ROM using them.

Good info here, I did this procedure as you described, and yes, official is showing, but you can NOT delete su, it will unroot. I just renamed the 2 files, and root was gone. renamed su back, re-installed su superuser, and reboot, root is back with official status.
Thanks.

I tried this procedure and still have custom after 2 reboots. I renamed su and busybox then verified root was gone. Then renamed su back. I guess the part I was confused at was reinstall super user. Do I uninstall then re-install from play store?
Thank you.
EDIT: Followed my thought of uninstalling and re-installing through play store and still get custom.

Good answer, why does it matter if it says custom? whats the big deal here. If you are wanting the update, why not just wait until a dev does what they need to do to it, and flash it later. I updated 1 time in a year on my GS3, and never did it again. When a new rom is developed, it usually is a base from the update...so....

Well, you do not have to install the ZIP, but instead, do the following:
- Install SuperSU from the market

- When asked to update su-binary, please do
- Remove SuperUser from your device
- Reboot (I read two reboots are needed to make the icon disappear again.)

My process completely.
Remove Busybox from system/xbin (or your busybox backup)
Install SuperSU by Chainfire from playstore.
Open SuperSU and Grant SU root
Update the binary
Say yes to try to remove other root apps. This will remove superuser.
reboot
reboot
On second reboot you will notice the Galaxy S4 logo returns and Official Status has returned.
If it has not returned then some other issue is causing the custom status.

I was able to get official and root, the problem is it comes back after 2-3 days, please report back on sturday and tell me if its still official, also this logo you are talking about, i never see it because im in canada and my bootloader is unlocked already
EDIT: Ok, so once i was rooted and installed SuperSU and got superuser out, i deleted busybox, i then rebooted ONCE and got official just like that. I also took out SD card because i know this screwed me up last time. I'm happy because i'm rooted and official, but i'm not convinced this will last very long because it has never lasted more than 2 days. I will report back in a few days. Thanks Cagman, you've been very helpful and what you told me to do did the best results for me, i just hope they last
