[Q] SM-G900R7 C Spire ROMs? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tried any ROMs (AOKP, Cyanogenmod, etc.) on the C Sprire Galaxy S5? Previous Galaxy phones used Sprint or Verizion ROMs with a few edits, but I've been able to find no information about this for the C Spire S5.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried the one for US Cellular? I works for me. Just rooted my S5 with no problems.
SM-G900R4 (US Cellular): CF-Auto-Root-klteusc-klteusc-smg900r4.zip

Good luck, I'm still waiting on a 900R6 rom.
I hate having a small town carrier, but we get better service than Att where I'm at.
On my old razr maxx xt908, I used to use the verizon xt912 roms and it worked fine, I'm hoping it will be similar with the S5.

I'm looking for a CDMA unlocked s5 right now for this very reason I'm on bluegrass they sell the i545l s4 and we never saw a ROM that wasn't touchwiz based. I'd like like more freedom if Im upgrading to an s5. They sell the r6 model as well btw

we are working on some stuff over at the site. But development is slow since its a one man show. Need testers tho for sure

Does anyone have or know where, I can find a stock kernel/recovery for my C Spire Galaxy S5?

I have an ntelos G900R7, see my thread, under the part where it says "So Far (you may skip this part)".
Right now I'm running a TW Miui, it's kind of nice, but so far the only CM based rom that I've had success with on this phone is Spirit Mod. It feels very crisp and extremely, but I feel like my 3g download speeds are greater on MIUI (I know this is probably just confirmation bias)... also a fair note: on Spirit rom, the square tiles behind my alarm times are discolored on Timely Alarm Clock .
Best of luck to you!
(P.S. Titanium Backup is rather useful for restoring apps, such as apnsbu mentioned in my thread, when you don't have internet access because your apn settings aren't defined yet. I'd recommend getting an apk of it)

Has anyone got lollipop on there c spire s5 yet? I would prefer to stay stock but rooted.

(Q) My S4 needs help!!! lol I'm so Confused

Problem 1: So I just bought a Galaxy S4 for U.S Cellular... Never really liked USC... So I been trying to Sim Unlock it to GSM.. So I can use this for H2O Wireless..... The Bad thing is that the S4 was already updated to 4.4.2.... I been trying to put the phone in diag mode but i couldn't get into diag mode.......
Problem 2: So I got it rooted... Flashed TWRP Recovery... (Had 2.6.0.0, Now I have 2.7.0.1) And I thought that I can put a custom rom on it.. But I like stay close to a stock rom. Like Samy Deluxe Jello Biafra (S5 Rom for S4).. Like i wipe cache, dalvik cache, and data.. But every time i be finished installing the rom... It be stuck on bootloop... Be taking more than 30 mins to boot up at all.... And by then... i decide to just restore the stock rom i had backed up previously...
Problem 3:Solved!
But can someone help me out with all this...... PLEASE!! Thanksss
emm.. are you sure that you have tried to install the ROM appropriate to your MODEL of S4, first?
If bought in US, I doubt if it is I9505 or I9500....
from the USC website, I assume that it is SCH-R970?

OK, here is a biggest resource of top secret custom ROMs, especially ported for your model.
Feel free to check if installing these ROM would not violate the US Customs and Import limitation, as most of these were developed in other countries.

SM-G900R6 VZW LRA Partner Carrier Variant Help Thread

Hi all, just came to the S5. My carrier (in my case, Bluegrass Cellular) is a carrier partnered with Verizon's LRA Rural LTE program.
More info can be found here. http://www.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/05/4g-lte-goes-live-in-rural-america.html
https://opennetwork.verizonwireless...s-modules/devices/SMG900R6_GalaxyS5_2808.html
This thread is intended to help others with this variant of the S5.
I thought I would take the lead in helping the small community with this phone looking to root and run custom roms as we did in the S4 thread in the Verizon S4 Help/QA Thread.
* our other thread for the S4, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453312 *
We get our LTE phones from Verizon, and they are close-nearly clone variants of their original Verizon version. For example, for the Galaxy S4 I just moved from, SCH-545 (VZW) VS SCH-I545L (LRA) which even had an identical partition table. This s5 variant is in many ways equal to the Verizon dev edition. Also further evidence to support a mostly Verizon clone these phones share the same fcc id, a3l-smg900v
Status: What I've tried so far.
Root: Geohot's Towelroot worked successfully.
RECOVERY: UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER! use twrp or cwm whatever you please.
Kernel: I use ktoonsez kernel. Works perfectly. Highly recommended, this guy's work is amazing.
Custom ROM: installed and working! VZW custom roms work. If you guys want to try Verizon roms, just edit build prop to lra info, you can find it thread.. Just remember to restore apn aswell and it works perfectly. You can use kitkat TW roms like Alliance rom, OptimalROM, extreme syndicate etc.. some aosp roms work with (patch not needed) some roms have unexplained issues..i dont know what to do about them. Remember to flash kernel of choice (highly recommend ktoonsez) after rom aswell. Have fun!
I will update as I go along, anyone can feel free to post. Welcome any and all who have this phone for any questions.

Everything else works.

Yes and yes. I've been trying custom vzw roms but there's a few unresolved issues (phone wakeups and other things, plus ne9 based roms don't work properly) etc I can't figure out. I'm back to stock but with tons of build prop tweaks, running like a champ. I can share with you if you like. What have you tested?

Mine says nothing about boot. I'll try to do a backup and find a camera to show you later.
I tried Alliance slimhyde and extreme syndicate. I think They have problems with our firmware tho. Works mostly, apns are restorable , but have issues with Android.com.phone wakeup, can't figure out but it causes high system drain. If you're OK with less than stock battery life, try it. I'm trying to investigate the differences that cause problems I experience.

Thanks for this thread it will come in handy in the future. Plan on staying stock for now but may root for the MoaAB list. I have the R6 through my tiny carrier in Michigan Thumb Cellular.
So does each LRA carrier release software updates at different times? I'm on NF2 as well. Will root cause update errors?

The lra carriers should release all at once, updates are pushed from Samsung. Root can cause errors but you can unroot and restore system changes. It will block ota alerts tho, but I have an Xposed module that bypasses the root check so I'll still get notified of an update. Safestrap backups also help out a ton, so you can make a stock system backup to restore later etc.

Band 12 is hardly in any devices yet. Not even the new iPhones. I'm hoping for 2, 5 and 17 (band 4 and 13 are a given) that way if I ever want to sell it, it will work on T-Mobile and AT&T.

i did, says nothing about boot. everything else is ok. as far as testing the build prop, easiest way is probably to make a backup, and install build.prop editor app. it will create a romtoolbox folder on phone, then in that folder you should see build prop backups. paste it in there, open up app and restore it.
Hey guys
Has anyone tried to use a GSM Sim card? US or international, to test GSM capabilities of this model? Technically this phone should be an unbranded, unbloated Verizon model, which is SIM unlocked for US/Intl. carriers, unless the software restricts it.
Since our carriers use band 13 LTE like Verizon, it has to be unlocked.
I'm just curious what LTE bands it has.

Texts (SMS) Are sending With A +1 international Code

When sending text messages(SMS), to my contacts, They are ending up converting to a different format like if it were international friends. Because each time, the messages are being sent with a +1 international code before them.
Also because of this, my texts aren't getting delivered to my contacts .
And I have to often have to start a new thread with manually putting a zero(0) before sending a text each time.
I'm using the stock Message app.
P.S: This issue started when I updated to latest G900VVRU1ANI2 4.4.4 update.
Anyone else facing the problem or faced in the past and got it solved?
Why are you using a Verizon variant in Karachi? you should have one of the international versions.

BTW, You guys didn't face this problem?
Well if it is a GS4, then you are in the wrong sub-forum. lol
But no, I've never experienced this as I am using a VZW GS5 on a Verizon plan and network. It's probably because you are outside of the US that it's trying to input the +1 for you, and that's not going to work in Karachi.

Which model S4 do you have/what carrier? Not all of them run all custom ROMs. If you have an AT&T i337 then you can only use Touchwiz ROMs and three specific Google Phone Edition ROMs. No CM,PA,AOKP, anything of the sort.

Thanks a lot.
