[Q] Multiple (different) System Update notifications - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've had the 4.4.2 System Update notification since it was pushed to the Nexus 4 (but haven't "upgraded" since it might brick my phone and the new features are not compelling), and, as many people have mentioned, I would like to get rid of it, but can't. However, that isn't my question - yesterday another System Update notification showed up, but the icon is slightly different and I was not aware of any new updates being pushed. I've searched online for new updates and nothing has come up. Has anyone else gotten this? I haven't clicked on it because I don't know what it is and I certainly don't want to update the OS. I realize I haven't done any troubleshooting, but I was just hoping to see if anyone else has this.
Thanks,

Prevent OTA update and checking

Now ive got the phne how I like, much like any other OS. How do I control the updates?
I would like to prevent my G1 from attempting to update.
Old OS levels are suported by the network so would like to stop my phone from looking and or downloading updates giving me the owner control when to update or not.
Like most people, I hate someone else telling me what I should or not have.

OTA or not OTA?, That is the question.

Hi, I just signed up to ask this question, but have been lurking for a fair while whilst contemplating rooting my Hero for 2.1, but it appears the day has come where I will get it officially (I know that many of you will see this as madness, seeing as the official update will quite probably destroy my chances of rooting, but I've survived this long and loved using my phone without, so I'm not too bothered.)
Introduction out of the way, I've read a lot about the update coming OTA, but there appears to be no function on my phone for any "check for software updates" or anything similar that I assume would be there were OTA enabled. I have a Non-Branded UK Hero with build number 2.73.405.5 and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this confusing confusing situation. Sorry if this has been asked before as well, but I couldn't find it in the forum anywhere.
Thanks in advance for your replies
Apparently a message will pop up on your phone screen asking you accept the update and then it will download to your phone over the air so make sure you have a data plan or you will be charged for the data downloading to your phone by your phone company !
I'm at home all day today so can use my Wi-Fi, so getting charged isn't a problem. Is it safe for me to assume that the OTA option will pop up for me when it rolls out to the UK and everything will be hunky dory then or are there drastic actions to be taken ASAP to allow me to update without a hitch?

Notifications unreliable... any ideas?

I'm running 4.4.4 on a Samsung Verizon S5 paired with a Moto 360 2nd Gen running 6.0.1.
My notifications seem to be very unreliable. The biggest pain is that I can't seem to find any pattern to what happening. Here's what might happen after any notification comes in:
Vibration on the watch, followed with NO notification showing on the watch display.
Vibration on the watch, followed by notification displayed as I would normally expect.
Vibration on the watch, followed by a displayed notification, but the display comes 4-6 seconds AFTER the vibration.
Vibration on the watch, followed by a display of the PREVIOUS notification, which then flips to the current notification after about 4-6 seconds.
As I said, it's really annoying because I just can't seem to pin down exactly what's causing the issue or any sort of pattern for when it works, when it sorta works, or when it fails totally. This happens with all notification types to varying degrees. GMail, Outlook, CloudMagic, Hangouts, SmartThings... to name the programs I regularly get notifications from.
The only non-standard thing I'm running on my watch would be WatchMaker Premium. I don't have any app launchers running on my watch.
I've tried uninstalling outlook (as someone in the Android Forums suggested). I've tried a factory reset on the watch. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling Android Wear on the phone. I've tried re-syncing apps... Just not having any luck figure out what's going on.
Anyone else experience anything like this? Anyone have any suggestions/thoughts?
100% the same for me on my sw3. Sad that 1.4/6.0 doesn't fix it.
I've sent feedback via the app. There's also a couple threads about it on the official forum.

I suppose it's comforting to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. What phone/os are you running?
I'm wondering if upgrading to a new version on my phone would help at all. An 'expert' in the official forum said it shouldn't make a difference, but at the same time it shouldn't be acting like it is, so I dunno.
Just really frustrating cause "glancable" notifications is one of the big pluses of a smartwatch and right now it just isn't working.
Another question: Which service are you using? I'm on Verizon. If you aren't that would eliminate service as an issue.
(Yes, I know that service shouldn't be an issue... but maybe whatever programs/radio/whatever Verizon pushes on the phone might somehow screw with things??)
FWIW, I flashed a new 5.0 rom last night. After lots of effort getting things back up and running (mostly), I'm getting proper notifications. Not sure why, but something in the process of flashing got things working again.

Same issues with my Verizon S5 and 360. How did you downgrade the moto 360 from 6.0 to 5.0? I saw the forum about it but it wasn't clear.

mysterious H820 update in 2020?

Got a notification for a new update to my phone today. Don't see any news from either AT&T or LG on either of their websites about it, they all list 30a as the latest but that's what I'm running already
I'd advise anyone looking for more info on this update to hold off on it until someone manages to look inside of it. It likely patches something we'd want to use to get root. I'll try and see if I can dig around and pick through the file it downloaded and upload it.
Anyone else getting this?
WELL ****, my phone decided to update itself even after I told it no so many times >.>
the version appears to be H82030c, which doesn't seem to exist yet according to AT&T or LG
????
apparently verizon released a 30c update to the VS987 three months ago, and it seems like t-mobile have had a 30c update for some time.
it would seem as if this version adds anti-rollback features if the two updates are anything like the t-mobile update
great...
