[Q] Restore SMS Paranoid 4.3 / JS Backup - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there, I'm new at this forum.
I'm using a I9505 S4 and yesterday I changed ROM for first time.
Now I'm working with 4.4.2 Paranoid 4.3 Beta 3.
I made a backup with JS Backup and I restored it today.
Call history where restored perfectly but sms/mms app didn't take the restored data.
I also restored sms with kies. What should I do. I also tried Messaging Pro as a SMS app but same result.
Any help?

[Q] Noob question: Possible to push stock MMS app in all-stock device?

Hi All. My N4 is all stock. To transfer my sms messages from my previous device, I used SMS Backup & Restore app from Playstore to create a backup file which I then transferred to the stock N4. I used the same app on the N4 to restore. Strangely, the restore process froze the N4, and worse, when I rebooted, the stock mms app was suddenly "not installed" (with just the green android robot in its place on the dock). I had to install Go SMS and did the restore all over again. Go SMS worked, fortunately. (I think it may have been the volume of sms restored that choked up the stock mms app, but i'm just speculating, and I still don't why the restore process should delete/uninstall the stock app itself.)
My question now is: is it possible re-install a stock MMS on an all-stock N4? if yes, how? I'm trying to avoid a factory reset if this can be avoided. Many thanks!

[Q] Nandroid backup bugged

Hey guys,
Btw I'm new here and here is my question.
I am having a problem with nandroid backups using twrp. It involves the phone and its apps not working properly. So first I have a fully functional i9505 on its stock touchwiz and it's rooted. I decided to try out a custom rom, specifically a GPe rom by dandroid13. Did a nandroid backup, wiped what's needed then installed. I kinda liked the touchwiz more so I restored the backup. Of course wiping again first. Now apps are malfunctioning like twitter images not appearing, Real Racing 3 crashing at EA logo and unable to save photos from facebook. No data loss only malfunctioning phone. I already fixed this problem before but by wiping and reinstalling the stock os from sammobile. I don't want to lose all my data again so is there another way to fix this? In short twrp's backup isn't a 100% backup, it is a bit bugged.
Thanks in advance!

Problem with restoring SMS into Galaxy S4 LTE

Hello,
I just upgrade my frimeware from 4.4.2 to 5.1.1 , and before doing this I backed-up my SMS with the Helium application but it seems that this application have some problems connecting the PC after that I upgrade, I backed-up my SMS too with Kies 3 but it won't support my phone anymore because the custom ROM, So for now I'v two backup's one from Helium and the other from Kies, and I didn't find anyway to restore my SMS back to my phone.
Any solutions ?
No replay at all
If you had a custom rom why didn't you use an app to do it? Most apps don't even require root to backup sms.

You mean you are now running CM? You can't backup on TW based rom and restore it on CM.
Either flash back a 4.4.2 rom, use a 3th party sms app. Backup that and restore it on CM.

Save all SMS and load into new phone

Hi guys,
I have the Galaxy S4 but will be eventually getting a new Android phone in the not too distant future. I have several text messages on the existing phone. What is the best way to save all the text messages and seamlessly load them into the new phone ? Any recommendations ?
I plan on rooting the new phone. If I used Titanium backup, how would I back up the texts then load them to the new phone ? I currently have CM right now, can everything be restored via Titanium backup on a TW or another newer version of CM later on ?
I tried using titantium backup to restore but had no success in the past.
I have been using SMS Back up and Restore and it works on CM as well. The same developer has one for call logs too. Call logs Back up and Restore if you want those saved too

I have cleared cache partition. When I go into recovery mode the green android man comes up with updating message then it displays recovery mode options. At the bottom of the screen it says
"Supported API: 3
dm-verify verification failed..."
I have tried restoring backup from Titanium Backup Pro with no change in errors. I cannot get to contacts, messages and calander. I can get into settings to clear Apps Cache. I am at my wits end in trying to figure out what
is going on. This all started last Tuesday when I had several MMS with images fail. Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Like everyone else, I don't want to loose anything. I don't want to do a Hard Reset. Many thanks will be given for assistance in bringing my Galaxy Note 4 back to life. Without it I am a lost pupply.
Marie.
I'd recommend reinstalling the stock firmware back onto your device but don't root it this time. I think something went wrong durinh the rooting process and that is the source of your problem.
un root

Nope, you can't unroot using Titanium backup.
If you have linked your contact data to your Google Account then you should be able to restore as soon as you sign in again.
