[FTF] Xperia Z2 Tablet (SGP521) 17.1.A.2.69 [1281-2266] Generic MEA All languages - Xperia Z2 Tablet General

Hi Guys
Here is the new update
Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet (SGP521)
17.1.A.2.69 Customized [1281-2266] All languages
:fingers-crossed:
https://mega.co.nz/#!9EdVGRzY!Qvu6YPb10E642Zu-4XJYC3HgKUFr2k4nHFlsNsFQU1c

Is this a very new update that comes after the .55 update??
And, of course, question no.1: DOES IT FIX THE TOUCHSCREEN PROBLEM?

I will keep saying this but it seems like the Z2 Tab and Z2 Phone have similar firmware and lock outs for Bootloaders. I bet you anything when the Exploit for root is worked out for one itll also work on the other!!!

Have Sony got something against Wi-Fi, how come we are still stuck on .36 for 512 models?

I suspect / hope that Sony recognized the touchscreen problems which are now (are they??) fixed in the. 69 version. So most probably they decided to leave out the .55 FW for the WiFi model and will soon release the .69 one.
But, how ever it may be: I can only repeat over and over that the information politics of Sony (and other companies) is outrageous and absolutely unacceptable. There must be more protest against such practices.

Well it's not going to be Froyo but the future looks bright!!

This has been taken from the latest post on the SE Xperia Blog.
Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X10 to get UXP upgrade in Q4 2010
Xperia™ X10 in Q4 2010 are:
- Upgrade to Android OS version 2.1
- HD video recording as per the same execution as Sony Ericsson Vivaz™
- Wireless home connectivity via DLNA
- Improvements to signature applications Timescape™ and Mediascape to make them even smarter and richer.
Taken from
http://http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/category/xperia-x10/
I must say I'm happy about the HD recording. I was hoping for more codec support though.
I'm also wondering what that means for flash support? I am aware that Froyo is going to support it natively, Do you think there will be an add-on made available for us on 2.1?
IN addition to that SE have confirmed a small performance based update in the coming weeks.
" would also like to emphasise that there will be an additional smaller software update, already in the next couple of weeks aiming to enhance the usability and performance of Xperia™ X10. In the next post, I will share more details and precise timings for when this update will be released."
http://http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/category/xperia-x10/
HD video recording...awesome! Also, the Vivaz has autofocus during video recording, which is really cool
how is the update to 2.1 going to be done? through SEUS?
i have a prototype andi can't update my phone through SEUS, will it be possible for me to upgrade to 2.1?

According to the SE blog the update will be done via SEUS.
"The upgrade will be made available to consumers through the update service at www.sonyericsson.com"

I'm currently on Orange UK and it wasn't possible to update my X10i until I followed the "Debranding process". Have you tried that?
according to some other members, a protorype can't be debranded so i didn't even try

Really? So does that mean that the hardware sepc differs on your device?
I thought if it was just a matter of software you'd be able to flash the device with new files.
THis is good news. I sure hope that they TWEAK THE DAMN CAMERA LIGHT. To maybe automatically turn on when the camera is focusing. Kinda like the red/orange lights on other cameras. That would be awesome!
i never expected this phone to do anyting HD. sounds great!

Funny you should mention that as I was just checking the change log on android 2x. It does mention tweaks to the camera software (including auto flash).
So I think this will sort out our camera issues!

no, my hardware is completely the same...it's just that SEUS application doesn't recognize my phone because of the software (i'm running 007 instead of 14 or 16...) so i can't update, so how would i flash? are they using some other method for completely flashing the ROM?

Im not sure but root could solve your problem. We are still waiting for it.
Ya auto flash...that would be nice too. Man it is pretty bad when the list of needed improvements is soooooo big that you start forgetting about them. At any rate its still my fav phone to date (former iphone 3g user) and the updates are welcome.
I do think that SE could have done a lot better with rolling out the phone with a current OS to begin with though. Especially noting the delays to launch.
Ill take what I can get, even if I have to wait until when??? Like a half a year from now. Im depressed
HTC Desire runs android 2.1, and the camera has autoflash. So, we should get it too.
hello htc evo is all i can say, x10 is a great phone but possibly waiting 8 months for 2.1 is just plain stupid...
if things are like this, i think it will just snowball. 2.1 in Q4 while the 2.2 would have been out for a good 3-4 months already. SE will then just hear louder cries for 2.2 updates (mostly i believe, is the flash support). and then what? another 5 month wait? will a newer version come out then? why play a catch up game that you probably can't win?

X10 New Docomo firmware out

The new firmware just released in Japan is R1EA025.
More details to come later as I play with it
u updated via?
I updated from the phone. So far the UI seems much more responsive. I gained a Mora Touch icon which is specific to this region, but other than that I haven't found anything else new as it's still too early.
Excellent news. Hopefully other regional handset updates shouldn't be too far behind.
Great News Hope we (Nordic firmaware) get an update soon as well
But that firmware must be older than there is now R1FB, that's R1EA therefore is older
Oh yes, i think you are right We have already R1FB001
Did you have any troubles updating? I've got 1.0.09 baseband and R1EA018 on my SO-01B but every time I try to do an update it says that I already have the latest version. I tried using the phone and the SE update service but neither one works. Any ideas why I can't update my phone?
UPDATE: It looks like this update was meant to be released in a few days but came out early by mistake. The update has been taken down as of around 9pm on the 28th. Sources: mineral85.blog16.fc2.com/blog-entry-162.html (5.28 postscript) and k-tai.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20100528_370243.html
Some of the improvements I notice with this new firmware is the battery life is MUCH better under constant use. It also charges much faster too. The touch screen is more accurate as well. I get less typing errors than before. Also a new keyboard was added for Japanese input.
According to Docomo this firmware wasn't supposed to be released until mid-June and they are asking their customers to go to the Docomo store to downgrade.

Edit: nevermind! i should've clicked the links first. It looks like the new keyboard is hanabi style like the iPhone.

Anyone know when my P6800 will get ICS?

OK, still waiting on ICS for my Galaxy Tab 7.7 (P6800).
Neither trying OTA from the menu on the Tab (always 'No Updates Found') nor using Kies ('Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies') results in an upgrade.
These are the reported firmware levels (from Kies and the internal system info menu)
PDA:LA2 / PHONE:LA1 / CSC:LA2 (XSG)
P6800ZSLA2/P6800ZZHLA2/P6800XXLA1/P6800ZSLA2 (XSG)
It was bought in the UK but it's an import and I think that the above levels mean it's a Hong Kong model - for which an ICS upgrade has been available for some time. Yet still no dice.
Anyone know what gives? Is it maybe because I'm currently running a UK data SIM in the device which might be confusing region ID?
It's getting close to the point where I might try ODIN and a ROM sourced off the net but I'd much prefer to get it done the 'official' way and I'm a bit worried that something might be preventing an upgrade.
why wait for the ;Official' that may not come to you via OTA..?
Go for the flash of XXLQ2//.. via PC Odin... it's fast and easy and looks official...because it IS official only if your in Austria... But is golden for the rest of s.. I use it in the USA,, and it;s super sweet..

look here for the files and instructions....
good luck
youre worried about 'preventing an official up-date'...
that's what's happenning now to your area!!!
The next up-date over ICS will be Jelly Bean...
and when that comes....
here comes PC Odin agian to flash Official Jelly Bean...
read this too..

Why wait.. enjoy your Ice cream NOW!
i have a TGY Hong Kong tab, bought it in Algeria and when I plugged it to my computer running kies, an update was available, even here in Algeria with my Algerian sim card,
i don't think its related to the country where you are, but to the original csc inside the tab.
as far as I know, the wifi bug come from a different csc ICS rom than the stock HC that was inside the tab (exemple : stock TGY honeycomb 3.2 to Austria ICS 4.0.4 causes wifi bug, people who updated straight from original hc to ics with Kies didn't have the wifi bug) , better wait for Kies updates (i think)
best regards

Yeah, that's why I've waited for the official update but my patience is being severely tested.
I can see why the iPad is so attractive - a lot less mucking around with tweaking things and updates are pretty straightforward. No wondering if your particular device is going to receive an update from whoever made it or the carrier.

Samsung has almost always been known for their tardiness in updates. Quite frustrating indeed for many. But IMHO that doesn't come close to making me lean towards iOS. Often there are methods to update or modify Samsung devices in spite of the lack of "official" updates.
Yes, Apple makes fine devices for users who could care less about taking an active role in making their devices their own. To them I say "Go for it." We who find it enjoyable to tweak our devices, iOS isn't an option. I owned an iPad for a month until I found it less than useful. My android devices did the same tasks often better.
To each their own I suppose!

I like tweaking technology for fun - but I don't want to have to tweak and manage just to get something usable.
With Honeycomb, the tablet falls way short of expectations. It's not unusable but it the HC-associated lag certainly isn't something I like to live with. The least I would expect is a prompt update to ICS to deliver upon the promises of the hardware and the fact that my device hasn't received an upgrade almost a full year after the OS was released is a joke.

I am in complete agreement with you. The 7.7 was just OK with HC. It worked but that was about it. Which is why I went ahead and flashed the Austrian ICS ROM. Never looked back!
But why does it have to take so long to roll out. Many countries already have it quite a while. I live in The Netherlands and I am anxiously waiting. Hurry, please hurry!

[evervolv 4.3] Just for fun

Hey guys.
Since 4.3 is out, I wanted to test it on the x10, since my Wiko Peax is based on mediatek chipset and there's no way of building roms.
So there it is. First as a screen shot, but soon a released version.
For now I don't have any sim card to test if it works, but wifi is working. Same WLOD as for the 4.2 versions ... since I'm still using the 2.6.29 kernel.
Don't expect anything fantastic, it's slow, but nevermind, x10 never dies. ^^

Got to fix properly ramdisk, and add recovery and chargermon.
Today I've got to run the famous command that fixes the blinking screen since JB by hand by connecting to adb. So just got to make it clean, and I'll be able to provided the first version. Don't expect this before next Monday. Will only get some time this Week-end
I must admit Android v4.3 on a circa 2009 Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i, would be quite something for show and tell,
I may even risk my perfect GB v2.3.4 configuration just so I can have a screen shot of Android v4.3 running.
[Update]
I read Android v4.4 is mooted to be released in a couple of weeks (maybe mid October)
Should we skip Android v4.3 and go straight to Android v4.4.....
Wouldn't it be a real wheeze if we got Android v4.4 on our XPERIA X10i before is was available for the XPERIA Z or XPERIA Z1

Getting Z2 soon, but really afraid from SONY updates ..

Hey guys
I am going to change my phone and i was going to get XPERIA Z3 but i realized that there is no major difference between Z2 and Z3 that worth the 300$ difference
this phone will be my first phone from sony and the first android phone after 2 iOS years
I was really convinced untill i checked the sony update history .. the phone is at 4.4.4 until now and some people told me it will get the Android L after 1 month and it will not have any major difference .. they told me that sony is the worse company in sending updates to their devices
HTC one m8, motorolla x,g and even the samsung S5 got android L and still no idea about sony
what do you think? i am really worried
First off - the Z2 is a great phone. Its much nicer than the S5 and even the M8 imo.
The Moto G/X got their updates to Lollipop fast because they use a practically Stock version of android, and even then, they (are/were) owned by Google - so naturally they'd get swift updates.
Sony's 5.0.x build is due soon enough, and the Z2/Z3 will be the first to get it from what I've read recently.
If L is your biggest concern for a phone, don't buy it until it's been released for said phone. Then you have nothing to worry about.

I understand, but updates are something not really in our control. Sony is definitely not the worst company with updates. It's a great phone, I have no regrets randomly buying it as my first android without knowing too much about androids at all. Pretty proud of my choice, actually The dev community here is great so I wouldn't worry about it. I've had no issues with my phone at all. Don't be worried, be excited

Most devices haven't seen L yet, and you won't be seeing an official CM12 until after that as they need drivers to be available for camera etc before committing to a stable release, Sony have committed to releasing L for all the Z devices back to original two year old Z phone that's more than most manufacturers have.

My brother have S5 and some friends have Note 3 and S4 also, i am only one who updated their devices when new update released.
what i have experience from last 18 months is, Samsung give the update for his devices before one month then sony but their software's have many lags. Sony give update one month late but that software is good for daily use.
When kitkat update released in 2014, i update note 3 to them and users start complaining about the software lags.
same in S4 also.
Now its upto you, that you want a software from samsung before one month then sony with lags, or one month late but good from sony
one thing more sony always change his UI and they look great, while samsung have always same UI which looks not premium.
Sony will get the updates eventually but the said phones will never get 20.7MP camera, clearaudio+, unique design....
Ps: about the software future update concernes; Sony may be late for some updates in their history but the fact that they are the only company who share AOSP code and update their kernels alongside the Nexus devices makes them one of their kind in the Android world. No other company updates kernels, just tune the new software for the old kernel. Considering this, once the phone cut off from the company's update list and ROMs like CM come as the only option for being up-to-date, Sony will shine again with their AOSP sharings and fully open source code (I can understand that they don't wanna share their camera code as they have got many of their softwares stolen in the past). Because the rival phones like HTC One M8, Galaxy S5 and LG G3 comes with many limitations and lack of sources for developers (and even some developer-blocking-software let alone limitations)

Personally I don't think that the self cracking is a widespread problem and that it only affects certain users in certain weather conditions and/or how they look after the phone (care or not, dropping constantly or not etc). I personally haven't experienced the overheating problem (which is said to happen in 4K recording mode (I did 15 mins of recording and when I exited recording the temp was on 60C if I remember correctly)). The only problem I have got with the phone is the off centred back camera (it is about 1-2mm to the top right) but it doesn't affect performance in any way.

For 4.4.4 there is no one click root solution, however it can be rooted while remaining on a locked bootloader. You have to flash the 4.4.2 firmware (this is called downgrading if you didn't already know ) with a program called flashtool. Then you have to root the 4.4.2 firmware and the install [NUT]'s dual recovery. Once you have rooted 4.4.2 and installed the recovery you have to flash a pre-rooted ROM (Niaboc79 has a pure stock pre-rooted ROM and also eXistenZ ROM (the latter is stock based and pre-rooted too)).
Disadvantages:
X-Reality/Super Vivid break
Noise Cancelling headphone algorithm breaks
Some camera algorithms break
Lost warranty
Lost DRM keys (unless the TA backup is made)
Advantages:
Install non-stock based ROM's like AOSP, MC, PacROM, etc.
Install custom kernels
I'm sure there is more advantages and disadvantages. @Envious_Data is a good person to ask about this, have I missed anything?
Correct @gamer649
Advantages and disadvantages of UB
Advantages:
Freedom
Easier to root
Custom kernels
Custom roms (not stock based)
Harder to Brick
Easier to install recovery
Epic mods like Multi-Rom
Disadvantages:
X-Reality Breaks
Lost Warrenty
Lost DRM Keys
Camera Quality (hit and miss, still same for me but worse for a freind)
Evidently less freedom
Noise Canceling works on UB for me but im on a stock firmware (flashed from FTF)
As we know we need to use flashtool to downgrade then we can root and use root to upgrade and keep root

When I unlocked my bootloader NC broke for me (I walk the same path to work each time I go) and I could hear the cars passing me whereas I couldn't before I unlocked it. However, I didn't reflash the stock ROM so that may have been a potential fix.
I'm still to unlock my bootloader again (because we now have the epic multiROM) cause I don't wanna lose my eXistenZ setup I'll probably cave in soon though.
Also, thanks for confirming what I said.
@Envious_Data So if i unblocked my BL and lost these features and then re blocked it .. will these features work again?
and according to @gamer649 the first thing i need to do when i put my hands on the phone is a TA backup?

When I unlocked my bootloader NC broke for me (I walk the same path to work each time I go) and I could hear the cars passing me whereas I couldn't before I unlocked it. However, I didn't reflash the stock ROM so that may have been a potential fix.
I'm still to unlock my bootloader again (because we now have the epic multiROM) cause I don't wanna lose my eXistenZ setup I'll probably cave in soon though.
Also, thanks for confirming what I said.

Yes, certain apps and services are drm dependant
Unlocking your bootloader wipes your TA where your DRM keys are kept
X-Reality/super vivid and some Xperia Apps such as playstation
Downgrade>root>backup TA> enjoy
Optional > upgrade, unlock bootloader, flash recovery

The simplest way to get the features back is to restore the TA partition (which is the partition what houses all the algorithms to these features and the TA partition gets wiped upon a bootloader unlock and so does the internal storage). Restoring also relocks the bootloader at the same time so make sure you are on fully stock firmware and kernel before restoring the TA partition.
To take a TA partition backup you have to have rooted your phone first so it is worth downgrading. Also, you CANNOT use anybody else's TA backup on your phone as you WILL hard brick it. I'm not sure about any thread what explains this Sony jargon.

Thanks @gamer649 for explaining it quiet nicely
if you unlock your Bootloader your TA partition is permanently wiped
it will NOT come back if you relock it
