[Q] Apps to SD in v500 kitkat - G Pad 8.3 General

I just got my v500 and rooted/flashed kitkat (Mahdi Rom) and I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to get apps to SD on the device. I tried the kitkat SD fixer first. When that didn't work, I tried link2sd, which despite trying multiple different file systems, I could not get to work completely (wanted to move app as well as app data). Then I tried foldermount, which works for individual files/folders, but when I try to move android data/off it just tells me to use a sub-directory.
So I was just looking here to see if anyone has managed to do it and how.
Thanks
EDIT: reposted in Q&A as this is the wrong place. Sorry folks

You're trying to actually install apps on your sd card, not just save space on your internal? I don't know that any apps still give that ability? I too use folder mount to save space for my big game files but the app itself is still installed to the internal.

[Q] apps to sd

I have yet to root my KF, its only a day old and I'm still checking things out. I read through allot of the posts for development and I see some are using CM roms. My question that I can't seem to find is, has anyone tried apps to sd. I know allot of the phone roms, cm included had apps to sd. You could just move an app to the external storage, and I was wondering if there was anything like that for the KF. The application limit is my only real motivation at this point to root, however the re-partition thread is like a huge process with plenty of potential to brick your device. Aside from the android market, what is the benefit to rooting this thing? I rather like the stock launcher, but if rooting and putting a rom on it will give me more usability, I will move forward and root. Does anyone know of a solution for using all of the available space for storage, otherwise it seems like more trouble than its worth right now.
UPDATED:
Use Titanium Backup. It can do this even though the normal application tool doesn't.
After root, use the move function in titanium backup. Works for me.

After root, you can just move apps to SD by going to Settings, then to Applications, then to Manage Applications, then click on the app you want and select Move to SD card... it's that easy.
long press the app and window pops up with the move option.
make sure your'r sd card is r/w.
Noob question. If it truly is as easy as "move app to SD" on Titanium Backup (or Gemini App Manager) to move apps from Internal Storage to SD card storage, why do some folks bother with re-partitioning their SD card at all?
It may be that they didn't realize the apps were being placed on the sd. The only way I know to tell what is on the sd is to look at the output of the `mount`.
That's possible sure, but it doesn't really make sense.
check out eldarerathis' thread on the development forums. he's posted a very useful utility to repartioning your SD card. should help a lot of us out.

Yes, I also managed to move apps to SD by using Titanium Backup. (I had no problems with a batch job)

Make App2SD works for Android 4 ICS on Samsung Galaxy 2 7.0

Anyone ever successfully move application data to external SD card for Galaxy 2 7.0 which uses Android 4 ICS? Is there any ROM having successfully handle this?
I tried several solutions posted on internet, but no luck to get it work.
Not yet but how many apps do you have that is filling up your tab that quickly?

I would be interested in this too. My copilot GPS for example has about 1.4GB or because of the built in maps. I used the App2SD app on my previous GB version of this tablet to free up space and would like to move this over at some point.
Maybe the app2sd can not resolve your problems about it, I think app2sd just can move files inside apk to your extsdcard but no other files like the files download when the game run first time.
but you can make it by using scriptManger which can mount internal folders to extsdcard .

use Directory Bind. It's on play store.
Also try GL to SD(Root) if you are rooted... it's in the Play Store.... It was designed to move Gameloft datafiles to the ExtSDCard but other users have discovered that it also moves other game data files as well.
+1 for GL to SD(ROOT)
I am new to Android but not Linux. I wonder if you opened a terminal and create a soft link. Would this not work?
Guys.
When i try to download GL 2 SD from the Play store it says 'Error - Insufficient Storage Space'.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.
Many thanks

[Q] Move Apps to EXT SD Card

Guys, I'm trying to move my games to my External SD card since I've got only 1gb left of my internal, but when I try to do it just from the Application Manager inside Settings, it only moves a few megabytes (X-Com Enemy Unknown has 3.7gb and moved to SD 60mb of it, awesome...)
I'm rooted, using X-Note 13, knox tripped 2 minutes after getting inside the house with the phone, I don't care about warranty or stuff, just... Could someone provide a fix, please? Tried App2SD, Link2SD and other apps like this, but it seems all they do is just move provide me with a shortcut to the same Application Manager from Settings that does the same useless thing. I didn't get a 64gb sd card to move 60mb out of 3.7gb from a game, seriously...
I think it depends on the programing of the game what can be moved and what not. Some programs can't be moved at all, but most of the big games I have, large portions of the data was moved to SD card during the install all by itself. If you just purchased the card, maybe reinstalling the game from start would give you better results, if that was an option? Also it seems to me you're using close to 25 GB of internal storage but you only mention one game, surely you must have many other large programs installed, what about them? There are some programs that can fool the system into "thinking" your external SD card is internal memory and your internal memory becomes external, but I don't have details ATM, also this could create problems if your SD card went bad.
And maybe you should take a hard look and see if you really need all those programs? If I didn't keep the tabs and clean all the junk, delete less frequently used programs etc. on regular basis, 96GB of memory wouldn't be enough either LOL.
I mentioned just one game as an example. I have quite a lot of space-hungry games, such as Bard's Tale, Modern Combat 4, Gangstar 4, Amazing SpiderMan2, etc...a total of around 40 games, mostly large games, and I have basically moved everything I could from Application Manager, yet it moved very very very little out of them. I tried deleting and reinstalling them, formatting my sd card, reflashing the rom from scratch with fresh sd, basically same thing every time. I got this phone to be able to have a mobile console with me that can also receive calls (boring job, games on phone help a lot), and now my sd seems so pointless
Internal Memory 26.3gb - 1.2gb free
Ext SD Card 59.0gb - 42.6gb free
bump, please?
The only app that worked for me is FolderMount [ROOT].
RinaldiMe, thanks a lot man, I just bought that app, testing it now, but from it's description, it should do exactly what I hope . It requires individual move of each app and folder, but it does the trick, thank you so very much
Will come back with replies as soon as I move 5-10 apps and test it out more
L.E.: Nope, bought the app, not just the free version, moved some files, still didn't work, apps just thought they didn't have their files and wanted to redownload...
Back to square one

I'm assuming your on kk bootloader and dunno if Mattiadjs int2extsd mod will work on 4.4, but I've been using his script meant for JB 4.3 that switches where the huge data and obb files are stored to your extsd instead of internal storage.
Try checking the galaxy s4 thread for the kk mod, I'll try looking too and post a link for ya. I know what your going thru as I have over 500+ apps/games and needed the 128gb SanDisk to store all my obb/data files along with pics and mp3 media.
Here's the link to the kk int2extsd mod

Folder mount should work too it's just more complicated and is more meant for cm roms imo.

TRY THIS MATE

@fahdil3536, tried that app, but it doesn't seem to work... I will try more tomorrow after work, maybe I didn't set the folders properly (doubt it,but still). Seems the most promising thing I found out until now, thank you

Any luck with that link I sent you, it's really easy to use as you just flash it in recovery. Your rom and kernel need to support init.d and it only works on TouchWiz roms.

myeah... tried that link, did what I expected... broken basically everything
Restoring a backup now, hoping it'll work. Basically it still saw my internal sd as internal sd, but it didn't see my card properly anymore (and yes i did check the exfat or fat32 version to use)
Are you tried App2sd?

Read op instructions. You have to put the same name folder both internal and external. Example: titanium backup. Both of internal and external must have the same name and caption.
Put all the titanium backup data in external titanium backup folder.
Leave titanium backup folder in internal empty.
Run the app, and select the correct path.

Any luck? this seems to be a generic android problem. can't believe no one figured out a solution yet. tried link2SD but it doesn't seem to see the full game size... detects something like 50 mb offf a 3 gb game...
assume u r note r rooted...install Xposed installer, then download a module obb on sd , enable it at the modules after downloading and installing, reboot and them move any game obb data from the note internal memory to the SD after creating folder Andriod/obb at sd
working at my note 9005 4.4.2 echoerom v19

Out of storagespace.

today I went to update my apps and am getting storage room errors.. how can I be full ? I downloaded one of those app2sd programs to move some space around and still have storage problems.
What can I do to clean this thing up? Would rooting it help manage storage better?

It's tough with a 16gb phone. Those a2sd apps only move the app not the data afaik.
You may have to keep some stuff on a pc till needed.
I think I remember something about an app that moves more than most but forget name.
Maybe Google your issue--
EDIT: This is what I forgot and found after Googling--needs root

Internal memory problem .. No free space available

Hello,
I have a problem with internal memory in my phone
I moved all my stuff to SD card , photos files etc
also i moved all the Movable apps to the sd
But some apps can't be moves i don't know why "see attaches pic"
I tried Clean master , ES files and some apps but didn't help
Please help me
I attached some photos shows the files and the "can't be moved" apps

You don't have a problem with the internal memory. You're simply encountering a normal occurrence, as not every app supports moving its data to the MicroSD card. Since your list of apps doesn't support being moved to the MicroSD the only way to clear storage is to uninstall the apps. You may of course try apps to SD card options, but I'm not sure how well they will work on Android 5.x.

thanks bro
even there's no way to force move this apps ?
i can't even make any update to my apps via store :crying:
To move the app data from internal storage would be to break the app itself. You don't want that.
Humor me here. Are you rooted, and are you using a custom recovery? If you are, which recovery?

at the first place i want to restore my space back
yeah , my phone is rooted and am using omega v28 5.0.1 rom
with custom recovery , TWRP 2.8.7.0 touch recovery
I just wanted to make sure you weren't using Clockworkmod or Philz, as those are notorious for eating internal storage. If you want to restore the lost space, you have to uninstall the apps. It's either that or you learn to live with it until Android 6.0 custom ROMs are made available for your device. Android 6.0 allows you to merge internal and external storage so that Android sees the two as a single volume, and that definitely would eliminate your problem.
Oh dear oh dear
ok thanks bro any way , i will try to live with it
Until it happen
Is there anyway to make Google play download / update to the sd card not the internal ??
