[FTF] [UK Generic] D6503_17.1.A.2.55_1281-5806-R5A.ftf - Xperia Z2 General

this FTF is created from my Phones4u unlocked handset.its UK generic fimware without any bloadware. should work on other unlocked european hanset too. here is the link
https://mega.co.nz/#!txkCQArB!LMVBizNxSHpuqqvgIEPLsQWJPpxvgUXSXr7zYWz8gqw
Here is the quick guide to flash ftf using flash tool.
The first thing that you need to Download last version. Search google for latest version
Step 1 : Download the Flash tool and install it. Open "C:\Flashtool\drivers"
Run the program “Flashtool-drivers” .Check the option “Select components to install” and find the phone for which you want to flash the ftf file In this case Xperia Z2. Select both ”Flashmode drivers” and “Fastboot drivers”. Click the “install” button and wait till drivers are installed on your PC. If you are using window 8.1 64bit, follow this guide to install these drivers
64-Bit editions of Windows require digitally signed drivers. The problem is that many devices ship with unsigned drivers. Today, I'll show you how to install them regardless.
Keep Pressing shift button and select restart.
Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.
Then head into Advanced options.
Then Startup Settings.
Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.
Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.
That’s all there is to it. Your PC will then reboot and you will be able to install unsigned drivers without any error message
Now open ”C:\Flashtool\firmwares”, copy paste the downloaded ftf file specific to your xperia device & latest firmware.
Run FlashTool
Step 2 : Switch off your xperia, wait for 30 seconds, Insert USB Cable in PC first & hold “Volume Down or volume up” button while you insert cable in Xperia phone. Green light in notification LED confirms that phone has been connected successfully.
Step 3 : Notice the “Black Thunder” option in the top most left corner. Click & Choose option “flashmode”.
Click “Select source folder” and select the copied ftf file from “C:\Flashtool\firmwares” and check the option “Wipe Data”. Under option “Misc” , check mark the option “No Final verification” if you are on Android 4.0.4 ICS Stock version.
Click OK, now Flashtool will prepare files for flashing & flash the selected ftf file on your xperia device.
Start the phone once the flashing is done. The first reboot will be very slow. after that.
That's it you are done.

Thanks for posting this its greatly apprecaited

You don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash stock ftf file with flashtool.
This will work fine on any branded set but will replace firmware with generic so no network specific apps (bloatware).

Hi everyone!
Please be kind if this is a stupid question
Got my Z2 from vodafone today as they have carrier exclusivity. I know that debranding the phone will do nothing with regards to the SIM lock status of the phone, however I want to get every step out of the way as soon as possible.
Is it okay to flash the firmware BEFORE having received an unlock code and will an unlock code for the network just remain the same or should I wait until the phone is unlocked and then apply the debranding?
Any advice appreciated!
(Also: Has anyone who has flashed noticed speed increases or anything that doesn't work smoothly? It seems only VODAFONE UPDATE is impossible to get rid of and I wonder if it's worth the drama ).
THANKS GUYS!

Official - Unlocking the bootloader

Hello, Sony Ericsson have now posted the official instructions for unlocking the bootloader here http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
So knock yourself out and see if you can unlock yours.
So only root is missing
Is 4 days long enough to wait before voiding my warranty
Sent from my arc using Tapatalk
Yeah! I am done. But how do I know if I am really unlocked????
well unless we have recovery for our device.. not at all
We need that someone message Paul O Brien or Amon Ra for rooting and recovery.
let's hope root will come out soon
go go xda

Also im new to SE and have no idea how to :S
It will give you unbranded FW, which should let the phone be bootloader unlockable.
For some reason my pc isn't asking to install the drivers when I plug the phone in.. I'm doing everything the guide says.. Anyone else come across this and figured it out? Phone is unbranded and sim unlocked.. And I'm running w7..

I'm having no luck with getting the drivers installed but mine IS seeing the phone and trying. Something to do with being 64bit i should think. If I remember rightly, Win7 64bit had problems when rooting the x10.

Desire 816N middle east (BACK TO STOCK)

Folks! this is tested on Desire 816N with HBOOT 3.18 others do at your own risk. (Single SIM Version)
now that you have tried your hands on everything like unlock bootloaders, rooted, changing boot.img's, flashing rom's from other variants, trying all sort of recoveries...
and you find out that you have screwed a lot of things like SMS, OTG bla bla bla..
now at some point you get tired and want get back to PURE STOCK as how you bought your fav device. but your warranty will charge you since you screwed up from top to the bottom.
FINE! lets say thank's but no thank's we want to get things done for free free free
Ok so here what we have to do.
download and copy the zip file to the root of your sd card after pulling out the sd card out from phone, hook it in the card reader and copy from the computer.
the zip file is the sense 6.0 firmware RUU file provided by MIYACHIKI to be flashed from fastboot menu
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358538793
download and keep it when the link is up. afterwards please do not tell me to re upload it.
rename it to 0P9CIMG.zip before coping to the SD card.
1) reboot to boot loader
2) flash this boot file provided by jithumon https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4m...it?usp=sharing (fastboot flash recovery filename.img)
3) fastboot oem lock
4) if the mobile restarting keep the vol down button pressed so that you are back in bootloader menu.
5) if your mobile is showing fastboot, take the cursur to the fastboot and press power button will change it to hboot and automatically will start flashing the files. the whole thing will take more than half an hour. system unziping and updating will happen 4 times don't panic.
one's everything is done it will ask you to press the power button to reboot the device. DO NOT SWITCH IT OFF BEFORE THAT.
VIOLA! and the party begings.
the first boot will show you that you have new updates available. download and flash.
all the problems you were facing by flashing roms from other variants are solved.
for example.
while booting it will not show developer version
it won't show tampared at the bootloader screen
your SMS will start working
your OTG will work flawlessly
now once again you can charge in power off mode
SPOILER:
We face a minor problems.
1) the bootloader will show as "relocked" instead of "locked"
I guess you can even give the device for claim if any thing goes wrong with the hardware if the guys over there are not very smart i mean the only thing stoping us is the "relocked" status.

ok sekhar, HTC Sold Desire 816N for middle east some said it's a dual sim and others claim its a 4G. when you actually go to see, it's a 4G single sim the other sim slot is simply closed with a rubber and when you open it it's a tai tai fish! i don't know how you get your hands over dual sim in Dubai. if you see Dubai souq.com you will find 816N
I bought it from DJ Sharf store in Dubai mall and they said there are two models available and he asked me to choose whether 4G or dual SIM 3G version. Then I choose this dual SIM version.
Also the middle east version has got a typical fast download feature in the rom where you can download anything faster using both WiFi and network internet at the same time. This feature was not given in any of the roms available. So I was so looking for that when you say it is a middle east version.

Hey @jacktackle, although your system says as relocked, you can unlock the bootloader again in the same manner as you would do to unlock your bootloader freshly. It is just that you will get a new code to unlock your bootloader. So if anyone using the previous bootloader code to re-unlock your device, it shouldnt work other than that it should work though. So it is not a big spoiler.
The only thing is in my fastboot bootloader screen, everything is showing up as invalid except Hboot and OS version. Not sure how to fix that. But this is only due to flashing a different country's rom on your device. This should not stop you getting any OTA's as long as the status of your bootloader is still relocked.

[Q] Reinstall bloatware before update

Hi my i9505 is rooted and I deleted the Vodafone bloat ware from it, my question is this,.......how do I reinstall the bloat ware before I update to 4.4 or don't I need too (I read it's dangerous to update if you have removed bloat ware from your phone, or is this untrue, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kinds Regards
PS Before I forget how come some firmware from some sites say 4.4 Vodafone Australia, and some just say 4.4 Australia, does this means it will work with any i9505 or is it just they forgot to put in the carrier ??, my phone isn't locked but had some of the Vodafone bloat ware on it before I rooted and removed it.
@da20valve
Lol. No one forgot to put the carrier. Some firmwares are unbranded and some are branded.
The branded ones work with the carrier locked phones.
Unbranded ones work with the unlocked ones i.e. those who dont have a carrier locking
And it is safe to flash even if you have removed the bloat as when you flash a new firmware everything will return.
And yes. Backup the EFS folder (use the play store to download a efs backup software with highest rating) before you flash even the Official Firmwares.
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
So does that mean since mine is now unlocked even though it was from Vodafone originally I can use the unbranded ones ? (and if its the wrong one will it hurt the phone), also I just downloaded and Jwarriors EFS Backup Tool and saved it to my SD card, thanks for your help, I hit the thanks button.
Cheers

hi mate
This is the latest for Optus
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/37801/I9505XXUGNH6_I9505OPSGNH2_OPS.zip/
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
I would do a backup first of your efs folder , any thing important and do a factory reset first.

Should I use the Optus one or the one that just says Australia ?, as mine phone was originally Vodafone would it really matter, if it doesn't why do they bother branding them. why don't they just build one for the 4 main carriers, or does the one that says Australia for all carriers.

IMHO you should flash a non branded one.
Why flash the optus one? Just because youre using optus (guessed) does not mean you have to flash that.
And firmwares are branded because they carry specific modem reqirements for the carriers

[Q] Need help with Xperia z2 update

Hello everyone,
I have just returned from Canada and i own an Xperia z2 from Bell Mobility.I have got it network unlocked too.The problem I am facing is with updates of the phone.
here are a few details-
model number- D6503
android version- 4.4.2
build number- 17.1.A.2.55
I want to update the phone to the latest version(4.4.4) but for some reason i can't.whenever i check system update via phone or sony pc companion it says it's already up to date.
Note: the phone is unrooted.
I am a newbie so i dont know a lot about phones.any detailed help is appreciated.
thanks in advance
Hi, although it is network unlocked the device firmware is still Bell Mobility "branded" firmware so it will be up to them to push the update which they clearly haven't yet.
If you want the update now you will need to flash it manually with Flashtool.
This is relatively easy to do and does not require any rooting or hacking.
There is a great guide here on how to use Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
And here you can find a list of stock .ftf files you can flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934
I would probably recommend "Canada/USA - unbranded - 1281-9709".
Although this is easy and pretty much flawless I hold no responsibility for anything bad that happens to your phone!
[EDIT] Just thought I had better add, in the Flashtool guide it will tell you to hold the "back" key when connecting your phone to your PC while the phone is switched off. Since we don't have a back key you will need to hold "volume down" for this step instead.

Z5 Premium E6853 (Bell Mobility Canada)

So I am wondering if I am the only Canadian user that managed to buy a device with a locked bootloader? I contacted Sony Dev world and they stated there is no OFFICIAL way of unlocking this once it has been set to "BOOTLOADER UNLOCKABLE" = "NO". This is a dam piss off as I was a eager to build AOSP for this device and acquired it for this purpose.
So much for that plan!

I have not heard from the general public yet on this and so far I have yet to find a way to unlock this boot loader. How is it I'm the only Bell user that found a locked boot loader? I've currently rolled back to 5.1.1 and am still unable to find a solution.
Odd if I'm the only Bell user in this situation.
I got one and it says same thing. Guess I have to sell the device. Very dissapointed.
Have you tried flashing "Customized XX" file via Flashtool instead and then try unlocking it? Usually carrier locked firmware prevents the device from being unlocked.
Yes I've gone all the way back to firmware it comes with pre release, as it would be for promotion to retailers. I've tried everything listed in xda nothing has changed the boot unlock to yes. Mine is now on the" for sale" list as I bought it specifically because Sony is supposedly selling open and unlocked devices for developer friendly experience. This is not the case with a Bell Mobility device.

Changing firmware will never change your bootloader status...if it's locked to start with it's going to stay locked...
Carriers do special deals with oem's to have exclusivity or to sell their products and ask them to lock down the bootloader...
Don't buy from carriers to remedy to that problem...
Sony on the other hand sells its devices unlocked...!
I have the same infuriating problem - further to that, since a security update pm hide no longer works via adb. I was all ready for 7.1 as well and everything has just been a huge letdown.
Sorry fellas, you got the same un-rootable pile of Bell exclusive BS that I've been stuck with since last year.
Zero way to get root on these devices. Period.
Only suggestion is to toss an international ROM on it via Flashtool/Xperifirm and go from there - you'll at least get faster software patches/updates.

Used the one on the forums here..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/general/firmware-32-3-0-372-certified-android-7-t3537948
I used Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde v 0.9.23.2 (MUST be at least 0.9.23.x or you'll get an error)

Scratch that ... The firmware on that post is Russian even after selecting English on first boot. (there's still some stuff that shows in Russian)
https://depositfiles.com/files/yd5q2j22m <-- AU firmware posted on xperiafirmware.com
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862696598 <-- Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde v0.9.23.1 ... takes a long time to download
Install the flashtool
http://www.flashtool.net/torrents/patches/windows/x10flasher.jar <-- Copy file to flashtool install folder (c:\flashtool) to upgrade to v0.9.23.2 (this step is not needed, but recommended)
Backup your phone and turn it off and don't plug it in to your computer yet
Now move the downloaded firmware to your c:\users\{username}\.flashtool\firmwares folder
Run the flashtool (exe in c:\flashtool)
Click on the Lightning bolt
Keep Flashmode selected and click OK
Click on the arrows in the left pane to expand the list until you get to 32.3.A.0.372 and click on that
In the Wipe section, check everything (best to do a clean install)
Click the Flash button
No just wait until a popup comes up telling you to plug the phone in and press the down volume button at the same time.
WAIT .... now it's flashing and takes a while.
Once done, the first boot take a while longer then normal.
You'd think that if you can flash a stock rom this way that you'd be able to flash a rom with a stock rooted kernel and use the flashtool to install root with out needing to unlock the bootloader .... But I'm sure people have already thought of this and for some reason or another, it didn't work.
Like the others on here... I'm not happy with not being able to root... Never buying a phone from the provider again :|
