Build q is great, sturdy phone. But since you're on a bike I would highly suggest getting a case. Since it's the sprint variant, I don't think you can flash international ROM's. You might have to stick to just Sprint ROM;s.

thanks.
i use a case with all my phones.
even those bricky lumias lol
what i am actually worried about is the phone creaking or getting bent in my pocket. the phone actually seems fragile by its looks. the thin bezel and its 8.9mm thickness.

Ohhh, in that case it's a really sturdy phone. Nothing to worry about there. While the back is plastic, the frame around the phone is very well put together.

No problem, if you take a look at the ROM's in the G2 Developmental Section, you can see a bunch of ROM's that work for numerous versions such as the D801, D802, Verizon version, etc... But so far I don't really see them for Sprint version. I tried out the Lightning ROM and I think I read somewhere in that thread that it works for Sprint. Just make sure you read the thread of the ROM you want before trying it out just to be sure.

Fuze Back Shell Replacement

Has anyone ran into anyplace where you can purchase the HTC Raph back shell cover?
I heard it isn't as glossy/fingerprint magnet as the Euro version.. more rubberized.
www.cnn.cn doesn't have anything listed, not even a TP.
take a piece of sandpaper and remove that shine.

Oops... Seems they reused the same stock image for the P3300's battery cover.

Still, $33 is a lot of money for rubberized plastic, especially if I'm not even 100% certain it'll fit. And I want to see an accurate picture before I plunk money down.
My TP has rubberized back. Bought in Norway.

I forgot to mention that I have the Fuze
All that someone needs to do is see if the European Touch Pro cover fits the US AT&T Fuze.
Doesn't anyone have access to both phones to test this???
(Interesting...This is my first post and I've been a member since April 2006....I'm always in here reading and I just never thought to ask anything before...weird because I post all the time over at HoFo).
if someone has a dremel tool, maybe u can fine sand it, and leave the triangle that says HTC and around the camera/flash untouched, make a rectangle shape around the autofocus text, then take it to the mall to one of those dog tag kiosk that can itch your name or logo on the back like laser itch, i think that will look cool...
while ur at it itch ur e-mail/contact info on the inside of the cover in case it gets lost!!

Found This case on ebay, think i can just use the back part on my fuse?
I saw the one on ebay too, but how come there is a big triangular hole where the camera is? How are you supposed to cover that or is it just left open?
I believe they want you to transfer it from your existing hardware... But, with my luck I would screw it up and not have a battery cover at all.

It's Over.

Yea I hocked my N1 to the lucky bidder.
I don't really know what I didn't like about it. It felt truly like it wasn't the BEST smartphone experience I could have had. Everything just felt, weird? Slow? Uncoordinated? I don't know. Its a fine piece of machinery no doubt but I don't think I was ready for the inherent clusterfuck Android is.
And in all seriousness I probably will come back to this. But for now...
Its back to the Razr. Most reliable thing in existence.
Rofl, back to the Razr? Most reliable phone in existence? You've got to be F'n kidding me, right?
You can't be serious.. a RAZR? Welcome to 1999. Lol -That's like browsing the web with a potato.
It's ok, the Nexus one, two, three, four.. are all waiting for you.
There's no waving emoticon?
Well, enjoy I guess. No disrespect intended here, but if you're fine w/ a Razr... Then it obvious you really don't need, nor WANT, a smartphone. That's not meant to be an insult, but rather a simple observation. Smart phones are about everything OTHER than the phone portion in my mind. For me, that's the last thing my N1 does .
Good luck.
That's sad... I sure hope it enjoying your razr, gotta admit its a very reliable phone, I once threw it at someone and left him unconscious. Helped me get out of a potential danger. LOL
The nexus one isn't for everyone I guess, specially the technology challenged

I'm not sure what you mean by slow and uncoordinated. Please elaborate. I have never seen a phone as quick and responsive as the N1. If you're a hardcore blackberry fan they you probably wouldn't like the N1 anyway.
I'm not going to insult you because of your opinion though but I would expect it from some of the children on XDA.

Android is a clusterfuck?! Have you ever used Windows Mobile?
I bought the razr when it first came out and it was 600.00 on a contract. I had it two days, dropped it, and it landed on the corner hinge. The area that cracked is so thin that the screen came unattached and all i had was a keypad and speakerphone to make calls on. I had to send it back to motorola because at&t wouldn't insure it, and they lost it. I got it back 3 months later locked, and they wouldn't send me a code so I had to pay for one.
Never buy motorola without a swap plan in place, they lunch too hard on getting things done.

Never buy a motorola phone regardless. They're terrible designers.
The nexus definitely feels a little unstable in many respects. But with its hardware and being presumably on the top of Google's mobile priorit list, this phone has more potential than any other phone out there. Its almost as smooth as the iPhone with the potential to put the iPhone to shame. Just gotta be patient and let google iron out the software. This baby's still a baby!

Please explain how it's unstable. Are you rooted and running a custom ROM? I'm totally stock and my phone's been rock solid stable. A huge contrast with my rooted G1 with various custom ROMs.

Their phones really are quite ugly, though, if we're talking about design rather than build quality (which the dust issue qualifies as).

[CLOSED/G2] Problem with non spring loaded hinge

I wanted to make this thread because I've read in a few different threads that people are having problems with the slide up screen.
Apparently, if you hold the phone upside down - the screen will slide down and sort of just do it's own thing.
I also read that some people who have their G2 are not experiencing that same problem. Defect? Or is it supposed to do that and is a result of bad designing?
I plan on getting my G2 Oct. 6 and I just wanted everyone to be aware of that potential problem.
If you are having or not having that issue, feel free to let it be known below.
Thanks!!
I'm pretty sure it's a defect with a few people's phones. So far, only one person out of like 6-7 said it happened to them. Maybe he could tighten a torx screw or something? Not too big of a deal... I guess we'll see!
I thought the issue was when it's closed, people hold it upside down and it starts to kind of open up?

I have this issue. If you hold the bottom of the phone, and them hold the phone upside down, then the screen portion slides along the hinge all on its own.
I believe this is an issue with it being a non spring loaded hinge, but I will confirm tomorrow maybe if I can drop by a T-mobile store and ask to see their demo ( I think they will let me if they see I have one)
Hmm.. I'm pretty picky about these kinds of things. Crossing my fingers the G2 I get will be solid.

See I can't really call it loose. And if it were any firmer it wouldn't slide right. I just guess I wish it would hold tighter? I'm not sure. Its solid as hell , and the hinge is metal , and slides like butter, and when in the up it has a very slight wobble? Maybe its something to get used to.
It doesn't feel cheap by any means. But in that respect I'm not entirely sure how it is supposed to feel..being one of the first owners and all.
i don't like that it "falls" open, not that i hold the phone at that angle very frequently, but it would annoy me later on. but as already stated, it's not really loose, the only person to use this thing was me all day and it was like this right out of the box, i think the hinge itself is a little too slick(greased or internally loose) but it may get better with time. we will see what happens, as with all things we won't know till later
Haha man, I'm not even pre order status. I have to wait until it comes out. But I got a homie who works at T-Mobile. He said he gonna hook me up some how.
But yea, I wonder if they will fix this on 2nd gen models. Not wanting to wait that long tho. Sucks that this is an issue tho.

I wouldn't even say it needs fixing. The G1 wasn't even solid initially. The left side wobbled etc. The EPIC has wobble side to side when screen is closed and when open.. I think this is the most solid slider I have used since the TP2. I guess I'm just gripe-y
hehehe! I'd rather have this issue than the one on the MTS. You practically need a crowbar to open the keyboard. and as you open it, it makes a horrible grinding sound.

Smashed? Like broken screen or completely broken device? If it's just the screen, break them both up and swap the screen out with the back up one.
Bye Bye!!! I think this is about the 6th thread you've started in the dev forum that has absolutely nothing to do with developement.
If you dont know how to care for smart phones, I strongly suggest you stick to other genres of phones.
I dont mean this with any condescension. If you are typically a clumsy person, it doesn't make logical sense to keep buying expensive devices.

Well the good news is that they have CyanogenMod booting on a G3. Bad news is that it's only on the US T-Mobile variant. There's still a ton of work to be done but it's enough to get a little bit excited about.

Dude. so fast. when this is optimized easily the fastest phone I've ever used BY FAR. right now it's miles faster than stock or any rom for g3 currently available. it actually makes you go wow. which this phone has yet to do for me. to say I am very excited is an understatement.
Honestly, my HTC One M8 was much smoother out of the box compared to my G3. Idk but I sure do hope that development for the G3 picks up soon.

I know this is about CyanogenMod on the G3, but for those of you that don't know, we had a guy put up an updated thread detailing his conversations with LG regarding the bootloader. They told him that they have no plans to unlock it, so we will have to wait and see if someone can unlock it themselves, probably voiding their warranty.
Hope LG will unlock the bootloader, we need roms man, the phone is lagging so much that i go back to my nexus 4. I cant wait to put cm on g3.
Bad news that it's for T-Mobile? Sounds like good news to me. Thanks for the info, I hardly ever use G+.
