[Q] Collection to DooMLord for EasyRoot toolkit for FW.201 - Xperia SP General

What if we made a collection, for example, $0.5 times to 100 people for DooMLoRD that he did Easy Root toolkit for firmware 201 I do not know if that's true, but I read that DooMLoRD ended development Xperia SP. So this could be a kind of motivation for the recovery of the partial support of this model.
Maybe $0.5 is small, maybe $1 will be better. Everything is about discussion.

Since this is the last Official firmware update for SP, confirmed by Sony, I don't know why/if DooM has said he won't support the SP anymore. I'm sure he can acquire the necessary files easily enough and get a fix out. How long did it take him to do the last one?

Confirmed?

The development of a rooting toolkit doesn't depend on how much money is put on the table but rather if there is a vulnerability in the .201 kernel that can be exploited to gain root access.

Guys, Sony has NOT confirmed anything about future updates or end of life status..

Well, they have sort of: unfortunately that post on that french forum was made on april 1st so there is no confirmation if this was either a joke or if it was real

Guys,
Doomlord has stated on his twitter that there will be no Rooting methode for 4.3 (201 build).. This is because Sony has patched older exploits and according to Doomlord there is no exploit in the kernel whatsoever that can be used to root the device.
So you can collect all you want but without an exploit it is just not possible..

They're not bringing 4.4 KitKat to SP, that tells me that they don't plan on updating the device further. We might get 4.3 patches, but nothing else.

Actually I think 4.4 will not come from Sony for SP, but still is not confirmed, until that, would be nice not confuse ppl about that

Why would you need to collect for doomlord?.
he already had this device a collection was made and he got it hence why we have root available in the first place

RLY? Xperiablog is not a official site from Sony (as u can read at the bottom of the site), actually, a lot of post from their web redirect here to XDA.....
And nobody knows who is that guy that post that thing (actually, I just remembered, I see that post first here then Xperiablog).... not to mention was posted on 1st april, and is not an official announcement
If I'm serious, I think Sony will no give us 4.4.... but still is not confirmed, so NO

Okay two things:
1: Sony has noting confirmed on their OWN blog! XperiaBlog is one made by fans!
2: For discussion about wheter we get the update or not: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516663

Another pointless thread.
So your all complaining that the latest firmware is laggy and still has issues, why do you expect that there will be another firmware?
You all moaned tirelessly "When is 4.3 coming out?" now you have it and its no good.
And now you want to root the crappy buggy firmware, and you MUST HAVE 4.4 on your sp!!!
I have stayed on 4.1.2 rooted it and put up with crappy wifi signals
I WILL NOT be buying another Sony mobile as they are no good at maintaining their phones firmware wise.
Every Sony firmware has bugs, and I for one am fed up with it

but downgrading and then upgrading is time consuming...you may have good internet connection but not everyone has it!! ONLY IF there was an availble tool to root .201 fw directly then it would be great for all the non rooted and LB xsp usrs

Just leave a computer on for one night.
There isnt any exploit so you cant do this other way. Make this with downgrading... or... Unlock BL - simple.
And I'm pretty sure when someone find any method for root this firmware you will get it.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 new Android 2.1 firmware is ready for download

http://hdtvsg.blogspot.com/2010/07/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-new-android-21.html
Just now i go to one of the SingTel roadshow, and they offer me firmware upgrade to Xperia X10, but since mine i rooted, i declined. I was thinking, i go back home, rebrand the phone again with SingTel firmware, then tomorrow i go back again.
But then i found this blog. Currently downloading the update, with very slow connection, maybe because many people using the internet TV to watch world cup final. hehe.
follow up will come after i done.
Hi.
The blog post is from two days ago, and doesn't seem to be anyone else mentioning it, so I'll wait and see.
Hope it is the 2.1 update but I somehow doubt it as no one else has mentioned this anywhere. This would be big if it was real so I'll wait for your follow up. Post pictures aswell
Edit: After looking at the blog correctly (lol) this is just the latest update for the Update Service. And if this is for the 23 version I still wouldnt download it...extremely minor update to 20 and less stable.
LOL! this isn't android 2.1 what a retarded blog. Its a download for the sony ericsson update service which happens to be version 2.10.7.15 so they thought its was android 2.1. and since when are ROMS 37MB? HA

In case you didnt notice, the download is simply the Sony Ericsson Update Service. This does not mean that it will update your phone to the firmware based on Android 2.1. Most probably you will just get the latest firmware i.e R2BA023. This release is most certainly not based on Android 2.1.

Just logged into Update Service and my phone downloaded something, it wasn't 2.1, and it still has build r2ba020. Sony installed something but don't know what. could be trying to plug the root holes?

Hey Chetan, care tell everyone exactly how to do that using flash tool and omnius? I mean don't you need to get the decrypted files (*.sin etc) in order to be able to flash them with these tools.
The new updated SEUS can be used to obtain them but its clearly a long drawn complicated process.
After trying to rebrand my Xperia X10 back to SingTel for whole 2 x 45 of world cup final, then SEUS updates, finally updated to.... R2BA020 SingTel... with Creatouch preinstalled.
Expectation too high.. beuuuh.. well i was hoping for something because we know that SEUS updates is brand specific, and so far i never see any decrypted rom updates for SingTel brand or anything even related. so just may be. July is Q3 after all. hehe.
no 2.1 available yet...

NEW firmware (10.1.1.A.1.319 and 10.3.A.0.407) certified for the Xperia Z

Sony has certified two new firmware's at PTCRB !!!
The first one based on 4.1.2 (i think), it is the 10.1.1.A.1.319 at Jun 4, 2013.
The second one based on 4.2.2 or maybe 4.3 (i think), it is the 10.3.A.0.407 at Jun 4, 2013, too.

Thats crazy, why became the C6606/6616 (the US T-Mobile Version) the newest firmware first. The funny you can buy this version of Xpereia Z only by T-Mobile US.
For two weeks i became the .253 and wait now of the .307, two weeks update is the new way of Sony update policy .

Unlocking bootloaders has nothing to do with Flashtool. But yes, as long as you don't unlock your bootloader you can pretty much do whatever you want.
We're talking about flashing with flashtool, but how many people that own the phone never heard/went on XDA how many of them never heard of flashtool. All of those people rely on their operators to push updates.

That's right. Before flashing anything to your phone, it's always a good idea to create a backup of the original firmware customization, so that you can easily restore your phone to factory state if required, especially if it's difficult to find an FTF file online with your customization.
Luckily, there is also a way to return to your original customization without FTF file, but it requires a rooted phone with a locked bootloader:
[GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization with SUS and create an FTF with Flashtool

This method was talked about last October/November (And probably before AFAIK, its well known trick to downgrade and try older root methods)
However, since the Z3 shipped on a patched KK ROM there are no JB or unpatched KK kernels to downgrade to.

That's how it works with all custom work. Once you're off stock, you're going to have to wait for someone to post a safe update/install.
Rushing in and taking an OTA is a very common way of breaking your build. Like what we see with running an OTA while rooted. Any number of problems can come up.
They could patch any number of things that would give you a very bad day.
With the support we have here though, we'll probably have flashable, safe OTA zips within a few hours of an OTA being captured/downloaded.

well i am from sony device..they release main update of android..and 1 bug fix, thats all...so we dont care..and no need to worry about relocking issues..
this is the first asus device...man they releasing update for every 10days..i thought we could apply just like that..but since they didnt gave unlocked bootloader tool ,i got these doubt..
and thanks for info..
so i must wait for zips which is modified for unlocked bootloader[if they trying to relock]
I honestly doubt they're going to find a way to relock it with an update, but who knows what voodoo they may come up with.
Either way, we'll grab the updates and get them ready to be flashed quickly. It's a simple process.
I highly doubt he will do anything regarding unlocking/locking bootloader. because:
1. last year they released their official tool to unlock zenfone 4,5,6 bootloader after 3-4 months of release.
2. This year when they launched the zf2 in US they hold contest and developer events via xda. Now xda is a place where no one keeps their bootloader locked. so they knew exactly where they are releasing and advertising the product.
So I dont think they would even bother about this bootloader . Maybe it is an unstable build in terms of their quality test.
Dang, and my 551 (2/16GB) is still in transit.
Was browsing the forum and this thread - has 2.19 been captured and saved somewhere else, or was everyone just downloading off ASUS servers for this OTA (when forced)?
I don't know if I would want 2.19 yet. Maybe to keep on my PC until the right time. That is, if 2.20 comes out and the BL hole is plugged, and those who were on 2.19 (and took advantage of the bootloader unlocking) still got the update successfully - if either of those two outcomes are false, I wouldn't use it.

Even if your phone gets here on a newer version (it won't), you could always downgrade everything and unlock from there. =)
Shakalaka has backups of everything going back to like version 2.12 or 2.13.

android is open source. and roms are not illegal. so why bother? i don't think asus is interested on ours bootloader plus, other zenfone's are already unlocked

Problem is they can't support any ROM that isn't official on the zenfone. They'll pass you off. Like most manufacturers.
These are just official update links from Asus. Not backups. Asus can shut those down at any point. Not saying they will.
See here for pre-rooted ROM backups:

one more doubt..
i think 2.17 is stable build from asus without the android os drinking the battery
now i have unlocked the bootloader ,can i reflash the 2.17[asking since it doesnt have the things which enabled to unlock bootloader] ...or once unlocked,we can do anything like other brands phone?

I downloaded the appropriate OTA the other night, so if ASUS pulls the file, I still have it and can share it on Dropbox and/or Copy.
I get the phone today! So hopefully tonight I get the OTA up to 2.18 and then wait to see what upcoming 2.20 has to offer. If we can still unlock the BL with 2.20, I will let that OTA happen. Similarly if we find out that those who unlocked their bootloaders can't take the update (at that point I will cry a little, if there is no official way to unlock BL released with the update ).
If both scenarios above are false, then I will apply my downloaded 2.19, unlock the bootloader, then accept 2.20.
Best one could do eh?

I cannot imagine it would re-lock the bootloader. Should be able to downgrade, as long as you use the whole image and not just the OTA zip.
Now you got me wondering....

no i didnt mean it will relock,..
but the unlocked needed some file right..it modifies something right? ...and it is not present in old things..so can old fw run on unlocked bootloader? [or would it get bootloop or damage bootloader]

Rooting and Cyanogemmod ?

Hi all
Just got my new Sony Xperia Z5 Premium today
I am wondering if there are any ways to root this phone as the DPI is pretty large for my liking and if there will be Cyanogenmod for it in the near future ?
Thanks
You can change DPI without root using ADB.

Just got mine today as well, and coming from the z ultra..... We really need all of it's 5.5 inches. I adjusted the settings on mine, font size and app size both set to small helps the terribly large dpi. Inside "display" with In settings, and long press on home screen for icon/app size.
Ok so the only way I can root and install recovery is using ADB to root ?

This is not about rooting, it's about security and malware!!!
Will they ever release Cyanogenmod for the sony xperia z5 Premium ?

And what do we need to root on a locked bootloader? Security holes. It's an interesting issue, but I doubt it can be used to gain root on the most recent firmwares (with dm-verity and such).

I can't imagine it not getting CM13...Sony let's you unlock the bootloader and also released binaries for AOSP support...developers should have AOSP based ROMS for this phone in no time...personally, I'm going to use Sony's stock ROM for a few months before unlocking it.
So I got my device and unlocked the bootloader. Now PC Companion refuses to update and when trying to register for Emma it claims to have sent a confirmation e-mail, yet I've never received it. No matter how many times I try.
Please somebody ease my pain and tell there's a way to at least root this now?

Of course not!
If I read instructions, how could I be having problems in the first place? (So thanks!)
Well, now at least Emma notices my phone, however "No available services". Can I dl the newest stock rom somewhere so I'd at least have that up to date?

You can use Z5 TWRP if it boots.
