[Q] Ugh, I'm a retard. I flashed CWM BEFORE CF-AUTO-ROOT.. HELP! - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HELP
I know I'm a retard, so please spare me the ridicule.
I accidentally flashed CWM BEFORE CF-AUTO-ROOT. Now when I boot into "download" mode, I get the droid that's flat on its back with a red triangle on top of its chest. I get the error message "no command", and when I plug in my USB cable, neither ODIN or the computer detects the phone as a device anymore!! Good god, what do I do?? Please tell me ADB can fix this! Or something else that I'm not aware of..

That is probably the recovery you're talking about and not download mode. You access download mode by doing the following;
- turn phone off ( or remove battery and put back in but don't press power button )
- press Vol Down + Power + Home Button all at the same time until the warning message appears on the screen then let go of the buttons
-now pres Vol Up and phone will enter download mode
At this point you can either flash CWM or CF Auto Root. But make sure you use the right file for your os ( 4.3 or 4.4 ) or you will soft brick the phone. It doesn't matter if you install CWM first because you can just flash supersu using CWM to gain root.

Holy crap, that was close. I used "ADB reboot download", and it bypassed the farked recovery. Odin detected it and CF-AUTO-ROOT I did! :highfive:
For anyone else who runs into the same situation, download the Android SDK, plug in the phone, start the ADB daemon from a command prompt ("adb start-server"), run "adb reboot download", and poof, you're back into Odin mode..

Help, its dead

My vibrant died today qq
I was trying to install an additional language, and pushed a libwebcore.so file to /system. Was doing that using a Terminal emulator
Probably did it wrong or whatever.... now, the phone boots to the Samsung vibrant screen and freezes like that.
I tried to enter download mode and flash the stock rom thats on this forum, but odin keeps saying "File analysis..."
Also *dont know if this helps* in the download mode screen, it says
"Appling Multi-CSC
Installing Multi-CSC"
Any help? Is my warranty voided? what do i do
thats not the download screen, that is the recovery screen. the download screen has a big triangle with an android and a shovel. you have to have your odin program up and running, first, then take your phone and remove the sim card and external sd card. once this is done, with the phone powered off, connect the usb cable to the phone from the computer. once connected, hold the volume down button down while pressing the power button. continue to hold the volume down button down until it loads into download mode. it will actually say download mode

If you boot into recovery you should be able to open an adb shell and remove libwebcore.so. It's more than likely not bricked, but libwebcore.so is causing a bootloop, which results in a black screen and lit up touch buttons.
arghhh thanks for trying to help me out
I cant seem to enter download mode, it just stays on the vibrant black screen
and I can't do adb shell, because it shows the device is offline.
I'm losing my mind
Recovery mode, not download mode. Power + Volume Down + Volume Up. Hold all three till it says Vibrant, then let go.
In recovery mode, Odin just says "file analysis...."
You're not using odin, and besides, odin is for Download mode only. Recovery should give you options to Reboot, Reinstall Packages and a few others using the vol/pwr buttons on the phone, you should be able to access adb while the phone is in recovery mode.
hmmm Thanks for trying to help me, i really appreciate it.
I'm in recovery mode, and still says "error: device offline"
Well, crap. I forgot stock recovery isn't adb aware. You'll need to somehow push fakeFlash to the internal memory.
Not sure how to help you from here, but basically you're just going to need to get that new lib off the phone. May have to warranty it out.
This is really killing my brain cells
I just wish i could access download mode, but the bootlock is not letting me, i think

Checked and replied. Sorry you can't get to boot.
Would it be possible to get a clockwork recovery update.zip from someone and somehow get that on my sd (I know I probably cant mount it with the phone off) and then "reinstall packages"
Just wondering
I'm having the same problem
once i get into adb shell, what commands do I use to remove libwebcore.so?
UPDATE: I managed to reflash the stock firmware, however I'm still having the same problem. Any ideas?
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/stl9 /system
rm -r /system/libwebcore.so
Try this.
1. Take out battery, put it back in. (to turn the phone fully off)
2. Don't turn it the phone on!
3. Plug the phone into your PC, do not hit the power button!
4. See if the phone shows anything on the screen (turns the screen on when plugged in)
IF the phone screen does 'turn on' after being plugged in without you hitting the power button, so far so good.
5. Now while it's on like this, hold the volume up and volume down buttons.
6. Hold the power button as well as the volume buttons until the screen goes black.
7. As soon as the screen goes black, let go of the power button! But DON'T let go of the volume buttons!
This *should* get you into Download mode. After that you should be able to use Odin to revert to stock, tar and instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
This fixed my 'odd' brick.

[Q] Possible Brick. Please help!

Hello,
I tried installing a ROM (Axura) for the first time on my Vibrant. This is what I did:
1. Rooted using z4root's app.
2. Backed up installed ROM (stock 2.1 update 1) using ROM Manager app.
3. Installed CWM.
4. Downloaded Axura v2.3.0.0 from their forum.
5. Placed it in internal SD and renamed to update.zip (backed up the original on my external SD). <-- Possibly the cause of my dismay.
6. Installed it through CWM.
It was installing fine till it got stuck at the fourth "copying file..." line. Was there for over an hour. Now, every time I boot my device it shows Vibrant splash screen and goes to Android System Recovery instead of loading up.
Can anyone please help me out? I think it's a soft brick, since recovery is still being loaded up. Please!
NOTE:
1. reinstall packages gives this error:
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(bad)
2. abd displays: "error: device not found".
1st you should not have changed auxura to update.zip
You need to odin back to stock.
I might be wrong
But changing name doesnt really matter. It look like u just got a bad download. Odin back and redownload the Rom.
bionix 1.2.1 with adw launcher ex
Yes odin back to stock. Then Root, then get CWM and install. Do not rename the Axura or any custom rom,, this will make it hard for you keeping track. THen after root go to recovery >install rom on sd card> choose> then find the one you want and click that one and you are good to go.
thanks for all the responses! I tried ODIN, but the issue is I can never get into download mode. If I press vol+/- and power I get into recovery. When I try the same with USB connected, the screen keeps looping at the charge screen.
ODIN was able to detect the device in recovery mode at times. but if I try recovery it gives cannot open port.
I'm following the steps (and the required files) from androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
Turn the phone off hold up & down on the vibrant volume then plug the usb in while holding it down. Make sure odin is open first. No need to touch the power button.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
When I try vol+/- and then plugging in the usb (not pressing power at all), it still brings me to recovery screen. the only difference is it skips the "Vibrant SAMSUNG" splash screen.
Also, i realized tht connecting to a different usb port, the command "adb devices" lists the device in recovery. but "adb reboot download" (or any othr reboot command) simply hangs thr, until break command is given..
Any help to get me into download mode? it's been only 4 months, I don't want to discard the device so soon.

Calm down dude. If you can get in Download Mode , you are lucky. I even know people who had not get to Download Mode and had began to cry , cause the phones were only 3-4 Weeks old. Back to your problem.]First download here the stock rom.[/URL]
Then you need the Android SDK and the platform-tools from Google , so download it , cause you need ADB. Click here to get Android SDK.Then you need the ZTE drivers. Click here to get the drivers. Now get into download mode and connect the device via USB to your PC. Copy the boot.img (or recovery.img if it is in the ZIP package) and flash it via Fastboot (command: fastboot recovery.img) . Now you got the stock recovery. Now push the FULL update.zip at your sdcard , and now go to recovery , and update from sdcard , choose the update.zip ... Flashing takes a while. DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING BEFORE OR AFTER CHOOSING "UPDATE.ZIP" . Now your Phone should fully works normally
Hello, I have also bricked ZTE BLADE 3(I flashed a wrong kernel....). It only turns the red light on when i turn it on and blank screen, does not respond to vol + and vol - key, no android logo, but when I connect it to the computer via usb in Device Manager a COM port opens with the name ZTE DFU(Diagnostic interface). If anyone has experience of reviving this device from this mess? Thank you for your time

Your download screen is destroyed , but you are still able to get into it.
Try to get into it and flash the kernel with fastboot , the screen will bug during fastboot procedure.
My screen is completely blank and black, just the red light showing when i turn it on and it is always on. It does not respond on power button + vol. down, power button + vol. up, power button + vol. down + vol. up. When I connect it to the computer it does not show me a usb flash drive although I have the zte drivers installed and another sd card inside, but in Device Manager I can see it as a COM port(DFU) Diagnostic Interface. I tried accessing the bootloader via adb but it doesnt even list it with command "adb devices". I also tried flashing the recovery image via "fastboot recovery recovery.img" and "fastboot recovery.img" and still no luck, it just hangs at "waiting for device"...

I think so too.. but how? The only method left is JTAG... I saw a thread about using a TPT image to flash low level firmware using ZTEflash.exe but that thread was for ZTE Skate I think, I could not find the tpt.img file for zte blade 3.... Is there any other method via usb cable? Or send it to the shop?
Well, here is my situation:
Got a BLADE III Pro
Tried to root it and i played with few tools found on xda and other places (android forums). No luck at all. Tried to flash a CWM and NO LUCK neither. Tried to go back to flash stock CWM (as i was afraid of bricking it), searched for stock cwm and there is my BRICKED phone. When trying to hold volume down and power botton (both for over 20 seconds even) it will show a green android and its stuck there for hours. When trying to go to fast boot mode the same happens (with volume up and power botton).
While trying these two options the PC (Windows 7 64 bit) wont recognize the phone pluged in.
The only way the PC makes a sound is when i hold both volume up and down bottons and power it or plug it in the PC (without the battery even).
I need to know how can i fix it to boot only. PLEASE. Is this a "throw on can" phone now or it can be brought to life? PLEASE TELL ME PEOPLE.
pm me or any info as soon as you guys can.
I will respond to any question you might have.
Thank you in advance.
I have sent my phone to the shop and they said that they would need a jtag box specific for this model or a new motherboard for zte blade 3.... I think this the end for my zte blade 3

That's weird. Can you install the Android SDK or ADT and get adb.
Then plug your S4 to the computer (I assume the drivers are installed?) and open up cmd. Set adb to your path variables or just browse over to the adb where you installed your SDK and run
Code:
adb devices
to see list of devices and check if yours is there. Then type
Code:
adb reboot download
Let me know if that works.

Well if CWM works, and you flashed a stock ROM using Odin, does the issue persist? If so, it could be a hardware issue then.
EDIT: Although the issue in the OP seems to be solved partially no? Can you boot normally to your ROM? Can you boot to recovery (vol-up + power)? Download mode (vol-down + power)? Anyone of them through adb?

You're supposed to press vol-down and power. Not menu. I guess that's a typo?
Anyway, if it doesn't work in those ways, I'm not sure what's left besides taking it to the shop and getting it replaced.
Does adb devices detect the phone as online? If so, you can try this toolkit and maybe that boots you to download mode?

@spongerob500: Try what ultramag69 suggested with Menu button. Sorry about the wrong info in that regard, but on my phone I don't press the Menu/Home button.
EDIT: Sorry @ultramag69, it seems that both methods work. So no need to hold the Home button!

[ROOT] I can't root my GN3

Hi
For the beginning i want to say thx to the people who will try help me.
Samsung Note 3 SM-9005
Rom: NB3 4.4.2 (kitkat)
I should post it as a reply to the chainfire's post on cf auto root but i can't cause i am a new on xda (and he didn't allow me )
So what is my problem ?
When i tried root with CF all is ok but when odin say 'PASS' there is no recovery boot (the install process, the red android logo)
What i have ? > After my flash my phone try to boot (with Se Enforcing + 2 other stuff blue red and yellow i guess) but my phone can't boot (yes even boot) he only reset and try re-booting.
chainfire's say
*NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.*

So i tried it, i unchecked the auto-boot, flash my phone pull the battery and press the button (without the battery), and after my phone turn off.
When i turn on >> same issue boot loop all time
And to have access on the phone i must go on the downlaod mode and click restard phone...
Well if u could help me .... 90% of my app require root x)
Is this the file you used? There's 2 files, one for 4.4 and the other for 4.3. Try flashing the file again.
Yes i used this file
i forgot to say that kingo root is so buged i mean i try also to root with him (on 1s)
He put my phone on download, install the recovery ect
Result: a fake root, in fact even if i have SuperSU (he installed) He said me that i have no binnary installed
I also checked on "Root Checked" no root here
BUT on download mode: custom os + custom binnary
And his chinese recovery work
1 hour ago i used my GN2 to see if maybe it's my computed who have issue with kingo root
Result: Root perfectly my phone
I also forgot to say that i used different odin (1.85,3.09 ect) on admin
And i tried the NA6's rom (maybe was the rom ^^' but nop still no root)

I re-read your reply and I'm a little confused. Did you pressed all buttons after removing the battery? Also, there is no restart phone in download mode, you can only get out of download mode by pressing power button for a few seconds or remove the battery.
Lastly, maybe check you have the correct samsung usb drivers and reactivation lock is off.

Well i know but i didn't even really understand the process to manually boot the recovery (the chainfire's quote)
what i did ? i flash my phone when odin say "reset" i just pull the battery on the table and next press buttons (Volup+home+power)
My phone turn off i replace the battery and i get the booting loop
Maybe my way to process is wrong, i don't even know chainfire don't really explain in details the way to do it....
For the driver i deleted all and re-installed by kingo but in fact all time my device is detected (in all mode) and COM if alway here (also the flash is correct)
I think maybe my process is badly done (maybe i can't understand cause im french)
Here's how I would normally do it.
- download the file and extract to a folder/location of choice
- put phone in download mode by pressing power + vol down + home button all at the same time until something comes up on the screen then let go of the buttons then press vol up then connect to usb on pc
- go to where you extracted the downloaded file, open odin and put the tar.md5 file in the PDA slot and click start
Odin will flash file and automatically restart to apply root ( red android with red letters ) then restart again to android.
OMG dude that work thx to you :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Ok the last post i mean i didn't understand the process of the boot recovery manually (with autoboot unchecked)
But i least this time i used a different thing- what ?- A nokia usb cable
And this time that work and im sure before i did all u said to me.
I worked on 2 night x)x)
Anyway dude thx to help me
No problem.
Enjoy your phone :good:
