I always like to look at their endurance ratings... and I'm surprised that the M8 is nearly the same as the Note 3, and higher than the G2. Hopefully it holds up in practice =\

Another review. Again the camera is called into question.

Such a shame for my usage - had the camera stacked up I would have dropped the cash straight away

Same here that camera is a huge barrier to its purchase.

I'm very happy with the performance of the old camera, it's the only one getting my kids without Blur. But... I was hoping for a combined pic of he two to at least 8. There is a time when you want to zoom, not often but it happens. Probably will go for it but I don't understand how hey did think there.

As the new one has no OIS that may no longer be the case.

We'll have to wait and see but I am a little concerned about this part too. I have shaky hands which is one of the reasons I loved the camera on the M7. The camera is probably the least important feature for me but when I do want to use it, I need to be able to get good shots the first time which is what the M7 offered me.

It's not ois but shutterspeed that makes the Blur go away in Ok light. Ois is good when using slower shutterspeeds, but the camera is good at keeping those down if it not to dark. I could be wrong, it happens

If you look at the GSMArena review I am not sure that they were all that convinced by what had been put in place supposedly instead of OIS.

Anandtech just posted their review of the M8. http://anandtech.com/show/7893/the-htc-one-m8-review

Camera MOD for Samsung Galaxy Note...

Hey guys and girls..
I've got both the Note and the S3.. And no matter how much i use my s3 i always find myself looking across the room at my note and admiring everything about it. But the ONE thing that stops me coming back to it is the camera. Its by no means bad. Butim sure with the touch of a good dev it could be a lot better.
I noticed that just about every other phone sg2, sg3, htc one x etc has a camera mod increasing thr mbit of the video and in some cases increasing the quality via compression of the still shots. I would LOVE and PAY to see that on thr note.
I apologise if this has been attempted or if there is a camera mod. All i can say is im ye to find it!
Have you ever tried ics camera from play store?
Enviado desde mi GT-N7000 usando Tapatalk 2
Isn't the galaxy note basically just a bigger gs2? I dunno if there is a cam mod already, but it seems reasonable to me that the method to changing bitrate values would be identical...
Try LGCamera apk, work ok in my note, up to 100mbit, still looking for a class 100 micro sd! lol.

Yeah, not surprisingly a very expensive/gorgeous SLR camera. Everyone knows dedicated camera's/SLR e.t.c are better, but the point is whereas a camera-phone goes with you everywhere, your camera does not - so why not do the best we can to improve the camera phone.
:good:
Try Camera FV-5 from the market.

They look good. Anyone else notice that the HTC One pics here and in several other places tend to look like 3D rendered pics. I've notice quit a few that look like a 3D canvas with textures laid on top of the objects. LOL The one of the punching bags is a prime example.
Also where did you get an HTC One? Looking for proof so snap a picture of the phone taking a pic of itself in the mirror

please post some more outdoors THX
Impressive in low light, and let's be honest: the moments we really wanna capture for the future usually happen under challenging conditions.
What I don't like however is the 9:16 aspect ratio for portrait mode. It's terrible for viewing on TV and a proper 3:4 ratio picture only contains 3 million pixels. I could live with fewer shots done by Zoe burst mode but at 8MP, oh well...
Someone requested outdoor shots , so I went out to my balcony and took a few. I'll upload some better ones once I go roam the streets later.
But for now...

Two are not needed.

2 things you have to do before moaning about the Xperia Z screen...

1: Make sure that you have turned off 'Adapt to lighting conditions'.
This is located Settings > Display > Brightness and then it is the check box.
2: Realise that the grey notification bar and grey soft button bar are grey and not black (unless you have the Jap version).
Once those 2 have been nailed down into your brain, then any screen issues are up for discussion.
I leave 'Adapt to lighting conditions' turned on & I think the screen looks great.
"Adapt to lighting conditions" is simply an auto-brightness setting.
Don't think it has anything to do with the issues the screen is having.
Believe me.. it's very hard for me to say..
But the truth is that the display is cloudy the moment you view it at even at a slight angle.
I geared up for this.. testing the demo phones in shops and even now, I think I can make do with it. But imagine. I have the phone laying flat infront on my desk. I'm looking at the screen at an angle and I can hardly make out the camera icon on top of my light-colored wallpaper.
Comparing with the galaxies wouldn't be correct.. but look at the HTCs. They sure look better.
I'm not gonna say that this totally sucks and I will be selling my unit off.. but one thing I sure can say that Sony put a cheap display on it (either cheap for cost-effectiveness, or to try and be the slimmest in the market with a lousier display)
I think the contrast is lower than natural. However I hope there will be some sort of tool released, sort of like get a permament Bravia Engine thing going on throughout the UI.. and that would help alot.

Yes, but most people are leaving it enabled and it suppresses how high the brightness can go. Go full brightness with it on, and then turn it off.

I think they are releasing a colour calibration tool in an update (colours do need a slight tweak). But slapping on the Bravia Engine permanently would make the contrast completely over the top compared to reality.

Yuck, what was Sony thinking with that screen. Looks like the screen from the Htc Titan only difference is the resolution.

2013 Flagship Phones

This is some pros and cons of the new flagship phones.
Note: Pls cooperate if you see something wrong here, dont bash pls
Samsung Galaxy S4:
PROS: Battery Life is Amazing
The New Amoled doesnt use Pentile Matrix
Camera is better
Air Gestures, Smart Screen and some other motion are kinda useful now
S-Voice is definitely an improvement
One of best 1080p screens right now
Removable battery and Micro SD
CONS: Still the same design
Some overheating problems
Screen Smearing
Innovations arent really game changer
8.8gb of user storage in the 16gb version
There is still lags
HTC One:
PROS: Super LCD 3 is super sharp
Complete revamp of Sense
Zoes, Ultrapixel and Boomsound
Uniquely designed
Solid in the hand
Low light is really a top notch
Best battery among htc phones
Cons: Non-Removable Battery
No sd card slot
Zooming in camera is kinda horrible, due to the 4mp
Some design flaws
Sony Xperia Z:
PROS: Water resistant, dust resistant shatterproof and scratchproof
1080p display
Camera is good but needs improvement
Good Design
Standby Time is one of the best
Sd card slot
Cons: Viewing Angles
Battery life is kinda fast to drain
Boomsound is not really a "boom"
Using a last year processor
Kinda lacks in the software part
LG Optimus G Pro
PROS: First 5.5 inch 1080p screen
Camera is an improvement
Tons of features
Big Battery life
SD Card Slot
Cons: The interface looks cartoonish
1080p video recording kinda suck
No Stylus
Looks like the Note 2
Seems about right but what has this got to with the S3?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

I guess it is a useful thread for people looking to purchase a new phone, hence maybe it should be moved into some general section?
In addition you should remove the notations of personal perceptions (as above quoted examples). Those are all seen different by people, hence not useful and dilute the otherwise very factual comparison.
I don't think "Looks like S3" is subjective here. It does. Also the LG thing does look like a Note 2.

as I love the look of carbon fiber, but it won't arrive til next week. IF it looks half as good as the pic then I'll be stoked.
Did it about three hours ago. Went pretty smooth for me. The kit comes with skins for the volume rockers as well but I thought it would look better without. So far, without much time to test, I like the feel. Definitely like the look. My only worry and it's a big one, is how it will fare going in and out of my pockets.
Edit: posted 5 total pics and only one uploaded. I'll keep trying the rest.

I have the same skinomi carbon fiber skin but I think I did a better job of putting it on
No raised edges or corners. I have tips on how I did it if people want.

Nope. I put it in my pocket everyday. It really depends on how well it's installed on the phone though.

Well, judging by your pictures, I don't see any difference so I guess I'll find out.
Edit: nvrmnd. I see I did mine differently. I went off someone else's pics and assumed there were gonna be gaps and arranged it so the chrome-ish band would show. Didn't think of covering it up.. Poo. Guess I'll buy another one.

I plan on getting a clear skin to go over the white g2. What is a good brand that won't turn yellow after a while?

love the stealthy all black look of the nexus, i think if you had the right color skin to cover the lg logo it would look pretty nice. was wondering if any of you guys had skinned yours yet. i think the only one ive seen available is the exoskins, but they dont have black

this is the first time of me seeing the back buttons on the verizon version. i dont like those buttons. it looks like it would be a nightmare trying to take a screen shot with those small buttons.
