2013 Flagship Phones - Galaxy S III General

This is some pros and cons of the new flagship phones.
Note: Pls cooperate if you see something wrong here, dont bash pls
Samsung Galaxy S4:
PROS: Battery Life is Amazing
The New Amoled doesnt use Pentile Matrix
Camera is better
Air Gestures, Smart Screen and some other motion are kinda useful now
S-Voice is definitely an improvement
One of best 1080p screens right now
Removable battery and Micro SD
CONS: Still the same design
Some overheating problems
Screen Smearing
Innovations arent really game changer
8.8gb of user storage in the 16gb version
There is still lags
HTC One:
PROS: Super LCD 3 is super sharp
Complete revamp of Sense
Zoes, Ultrapixel and Boomsound
Uniquely designed
Solid in the hand
Low light is really a top notch
Best battery among htc phones
Cons: Non-Removable Battery
No sd card slot
Zooming in camera is kinda horrible, due to the 4mp
Some design flaws
Sony Xperia Z:
PROS: Water resistant, dust resistant shatterproof and scratchproof
1080p display
Camera is good but needs improvement
Good Design
Standby Time is one of the best
Sd card slot
Cons: Viewing Angles
Battery life is kinda fast to drain
Boomsound is not really a "boom"
Using a last year processor
Kinda lacks in the software part
LG Optimus G Pro
PROS: First 5.5 inch 1080p screen
Camera is an improvement
Tons of features
Big Battery life
SD Card Slot
Cons: The interface looks cartoonish
1080p video recording kinda suck
No Stylus
Looks like the Note 2

Seems about right but what has this got to with the S3?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Wrong....s4s screen USES pentile matrix, in different layout than S3 however

I guess it is a useful thread for people looking to purchase a new phone, hence maybe it should be moved into some general section?
In addition you should remove the notations of personal perceptions (as above quoted examples). Those are all seen different by people, hence not useful and dilute the otherwise very factual comparison.

I don't think "Looks like S3" is subjective here. It does. Also the LG thing does look like a Note 2.

I created this thread for others to add the pros and con so we can add it in the first post, so it will be a guide for buyers who wants to upgrade their beloved s3.

okay anyway, I reported the thread, a mod will decide what to do

If my voice is worth anything, I found this article quite useful actually.
As previously stated, the other thread exists, but with a different purpose.
This thread doesn't compare anything, it simply stated the pros and cons of the various devices, unbiased.
So for anyone looking to upgrade they can get a clean comparison without having to compare their own phones to another's.
So yeah, thanks for this

not correct. all cameras have megapixels, HTC just decided to call theirs "Ultrapixels". It still is 4 MegaPixels (as in 4 million pixels), but the matrix is larger

Thanks Tom !
the main difference is a display resolution. I have had a eye pain sometimes because of bad resolution at G3. I had X1 before, so I was use to 800x400
Anyway, G3 is a very fast phone and with 2.2 it has everything you need.

I made a couple of videos for the Tab 10.1

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share some of my work so there are more views than just me on my videos
I know they're not of the highest production value, and I kind of jump around quite a bit (was a few beers deep at this point), but if you're on the fence or just want to see how someone else has their device setup, this may help:

Hi,
Thanks for this "unpolished" review. I guess I really understand why people complain about the lags and FCs when scrolling and resizing. Did not see them in all those "professional" reviews. Do they get special hardware units or did you mess up your tablet so badly? Just kidding.
Overall quality could be improved in for next videos but unlike common YouTube-sense I liked this lengthy review so much that I featured it on my blog if you don't mind....

A really common question with today's flagships getting bigger and bigger with every generation. In all honesty i can fit a Galaxy Note 2 in my jeans pocket quite comfortably and i wear skinny fit! Sony have done an amazing job reducing the bevel on the Z as well as making the whole phone super slim, it would fit easily into any pocket, jeans or otherwise.

really good rewiev from u i all"so traid my Note 2 for this bad-boy and more than happy i got it. in other words...the phone is F...ING AMAZING!!!! victory:
Also had my SXZ for one week now. I think it's really awesome. Some bugs at Google search, but it got fixed after the last phone update.
The Facebook picture rotation got better by the time. Just need to upload when watching the picture instead of going into face first. But I see when I upload it loses the BE2 effects, any tips on that one?
Batteri lifetime is much better than iPhone tho.
I picked the Xperia Z out instead of S4 because of the water resistance. Rather water resistance than a phone that can see where I see.

Yeah i always find it difficult to find a decent review for any phone, as you say, most of them are from testers, and its not their own phone that they use all day every day.
Thank you, Im glad you liked my attempt at a review, and liked it enough to share it on another forum . I wasnt sure what reaction i would get or even if it was any good but posted it here to get some feedback and im really happy the feedback has been so great .
Good review agree with you on most things but tbh I can't notice any lag. They should improve the speaker though.
And it would be nice if you could change the application drawer in some way.

i also enjoy the xperia z quite a bit.
i am a USA user, & the phone does quite well, although without 4g capabilities.
i was previously using a lumia 920. & this phone is much more of a beauty, & elegant than the 920.
i will have to admit that the 920 did take superior photographs in night time situations, eg: night club photographs, out @ night photographs with friends. etc.
i look forward to many more sony flagship handsets.

HTC One or note II ??

Hey people ..I m planning to buy a new phone in a month or so help me chose b/w note 2 and HTC One
Sent from my HTC Explorer using xda app-developers app
If you care about the look, design, screen, sound, and camera then htc one.
If battery and sd card are deal breakers to you then Note II. Most people in here like me would say HTC One.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
The One is still brand new and an amazing device.
The Note II is too big in my eyes, but some may like the big screen (lower resolution + way lower DPI)
If you want a phone that is top of the line, looks stylish and has a great community here on xda get the One.
If you need the stylus functions and the huge screen, get the outdated Note II .. the xda community for Samsung devices has been causing a lot of buthurt though imho .. see for yourself

Very unbiased point of view....
To the OP, it's always a personal choice. Do you like touchwiz or not? Do you prefer the new sense? Do you prefer the One design, amazing boomsound, Zoe, blinkfeed and the better screen? ( also not as big as the note 2)
Do you prefer a bigger screen, touchwiz features, better battery life, Spen functionality and ease of root? Do you need a removable battery and expandable storage? Only you can see what's best for you. In my opinion both are great.

Very narrow minded.
Answer these questions and I'll give you the answer you seek.
1) What are you looking to do with your phone primarily?
1) Do you want a lot of media on your device?
2) How important is battery life to you?
3) How important is storage for you?
4) Do you take a lot of video's pictures with your phone?
5) How important is rooting/unlocking/modifying your device?
6) How important is potability of the device?
If you need/want the bigger screen and battery the note 2 sounds better for you. Brandon I wouldn't say the One is hard to root I'd just say its easier to hide it on the note. Careful of the note 2's screen. I had mine for a month on auto-brightness and got screen burn in

I always like to look at their endurance ratings... and I'm surprised that the M8 is nearly the same as the Note 3, and higher than the G2. Hopefully it holds up in practice =\

Same here that camera is a huge barrier to its purchase.
I'm very happy with the performance of the old camera, it's the only one getting my kids without Blur. But... I was hoping for a combined pic of he two to at least 8. There is a time when you want to zoom, not often but it happens. Probably will go for it but I don't understand how hey did think there.

We'll have to wait and see but I am a little concerned about this part too. I have shaky hands which is one of the reasons I loved the camera on the M7. The camera is probably the least important feature for me but when I do want to use it, I need to be able to get good shots the first time which is what the M7 offered me.

It's not ois but shutterspeed that makes the Blur go away in Ok light. Ois is good when using slower shutterspeeds, but the camera is good at keeping those down if it not to dark. I could be wrong, it happens
