[Q] Play store not working ever since I flashed X-Note Rom - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says, the play store doesnt work for me ever since I flashed the xnote rom. I thought it was the roms fault, but then i did a factory reset and went back to stock and it still doesnt work. It doesnt connect to the play store both on wi-fi and on mobile net. I think it may be because I changed the csc, there was an option to change the csc when installing the rom and i chose some csc which I dont remember now, Is it possible changing csc can do this? How do I change back to the previous version or just change it at all?

I don't remember changing csc can make you not able to connect to playstore.
If so, you can just dirty flash again over and choose the csc that you want.
But, for the playstore itself, when I was on Note 2, I did experienced once. But I manage to make it work again by updating the playstore service, clear all data related to playstore, delete the google account, and reboot. After that I put back the google account, on the playstore, and it run again. Might be different case & solution with you. Just to share.
Cheers.

OK so what I noticed is that, when I installed xnote rom, i probably chose some csc like Italy or something. That's why Google services wasnt workling like play store, chrome etc.
What I then did was try to change my csc. I got options for chaning it to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia etc. I only had a few options available. I think I only got these countries because when I download 4.4.2 from sammobile, I chose the Singapore version. Thats why i can change to only these few regions. Anyways, once i went back to Singapore's csc, everything is working again

When did it start? Does it happen on certain apps or all of them?
Easy solution is to delete market data from settings, than delete google account from tablet and restart the tablet. Also, if it's rooted, you could try a different rom (maybe one with a market update).
This did not work for me, I have this problem for a month, I am not rooted and already sent a message to market. They are kinda trying to resolve it (I don't think so) and apparently they are waiting for ICS to come out and clear the problem.
cheers
And make sure the devices region is set to the U.S.?
It's 100% stock and she says it has always been this way (she didn't know it was supposed to be different)
I will try deleting market data next.
It's an old version of the marketing is there a way to manually update the market to the newest version? Would that help?
Where do you change the device region at? That was the first thing I looked for but couldn't find it.
Have her check her timezone. I know that sounds crazy, but I ran into that on a previous tablet I had.
I did a factory reset then went through setup and set it to the correct time zone but I didn't see anything for the region. I don't know what's up with it. I'm hopeing someone else has had this problem and can tell me how they fixed it. Short of rooting it I don't know what to do.

To change the region, you'll have to do it on your google account as you log in to market with that. It did not work for me but I did not change the time zone though.
The region on Google.com is set to united states.
I'm thinking that the only way to fix it is to root it.
log in with a different account and make sure it works. If not go get another one, that one sounds like a headache
Hmmm I was thinking it was a problem with the tab not her account. I will try putting my account on it and see what happens.
She can't return it she has had it since August she thought it was supposed to be the way it is.

I don't believe it is a tab problem. I have the same issue with my A500 and HTC Sensation. It is either a region problem or market (app) problem.
Have u ever tried to log in on the market on a PC? There you can install apps too, if your account has recognised your device. The apps r then automatically installed on the device chosen by u....

I have same problem on the web also
rom on tab for foreign markets
This was a common issue back when the tablet started shipping. Look at the rom version in settings about tablet compare it to some of the us rom versions.
Has this tablet received ota updates.if not and will not do so. Root install cwm. Use acer recovery installer to do so.
Then install a rom of your choice. Look in dev area for a stock rom any us version will do even if its older.then run the update in settings about .
Good luck.
You can also try going to settings. Privacy and reset to factor default.
Or turn tablet off.hold the reset button in with a paperclip and power up.this will reset to factory (easy but not likely fix .
I agree with above its a region setting.
Had simlar issue I cleared all with wipe menue in cwm. Deleted and reinstalled my Google account.

[Q] I9505XXUHOB8_I9505VFRHOC1_VOD - Wrong CSC selected

Any suggestions as to how to get my UK vodafone contract I9505 back to its correct CSC ??
Back in the mists of time (JB or KK) I flashed a ROM which flipped my CSC from VOD to Switzerland (AUT). Now I've tried applying I9505XXUHOB8_I9505VFRHOC1_VOD.ZIP to get back to Vodafone UK's CSC and the bloody phone thinks it's Spanish (ATL) !!
This is driving me bananas! I've tried reflashing, clearing the cache and doing factory reset before and afterwards, I've tried reflashing it twice with a factory reset from android and that hasn't worked either. There's so much crap out there on what should fix the problem but I can't find anything that actually works.
Phone is currently "offical" status and has knox 0x0 and I'd like to keep it that way, but I really want to get the CSC situation resolved so I can take a stab at getting the vodafone wallet/NFC support working. I need to stay away from rooting it as I use the phone for banking
Please help!
WARNING: The following procedure will result in the S4 being factory reset. Backup all data beforehand.
Dial *#272*IMEI#. A screen will appear with the list of available CSC codes. Select one and reboot. The other option is to use CSC Changer from the Play Store.

*#272 doesn't work any more.
In the end I went down the root/csc change app path.
Downgraded to I9505XXUGNJ5_I9505VFRGNK1_VOD 4.4.2, then used towelroot & Mr Wolf's instructions to get root for NJ5. Now I was able to use (I think) csc selector to flip the CSC over to VOD. Finally I reflashed and factory reset I9505XXUHOB8_I9505VFRHOC1_VOD again and am now on lollipop with the correct CSC
And most surprisingly I'm still knox 0x0 !! It was showing custom status whilst it was rooted, but is now back to official.
Last step was to bung geohot a tenner for writing towelroot and making this possible

[Q]Trying to return to stock BTU rogue apps keep installing during boot

Samfirm, ive seen this sort of forced install before on a tablet but resolved it by flashing the official firmware, but im trying the same here with no luck?
Noticed this guy has had the same issue,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59581427&postcount=680
This is a weird one, i definately havent got them 3 roque apps, looked in different root explorers and used the search function, i definately have the bku uk firmware but i didnt get it from sammobile, it took to long as a free user
@Garner: I missed this thread as my I9505 isn't my daily driver anymore. When I flashed the BTU firmware two things happened.
1. The three apps mentioned appeared.
2. The CSC changed to AUT.
The BTU firmware is multi-country, and on my device and yours it defaults to AUT rather than BTU. I don't recall where the apps are hidden on the device, however, there is no operational difference in the firmware except those three apps appear. Solution? Uninstall the apps. Those three apps are installed in the /data partition and not /system, thus they can be uninstalled like any other app.

New flashed rom has things I never had

Hi guys!
So I have a S7E 935F unlocked.
I tried to root the device and did everything as written and shown in every tutorial but it failed to do so.
After flashing recovery TWRP and trying to flash SuperSU the device just got into a boot loop.
I was reading around and understood that this is a problem due to encryption of the FS.
So I downloaded my firmware from sammobile and flashed my device again, everything got back to normal.
Well, almost normal. The rom I have has the same build number, version, kernel, everything is the same as the original one only that I have things in the settings menu I never has, like I have "apps" twice, one for apps permissions etc and one for apps manager, I also have "T roaming" no idea what it is, never had it, I have "service provider KT twophone".
Also the settings app crash a lot, browser gets stuck a lot, can't change system language to English (app crash).
At the home screen I Samsung Pay which I never had and I have some sort of a news app integrated on my home screen and it's marked with two stripes.
I verified this is a global rom for my country, not by any mobile company as before, I really don't have a clue what to do.
Can someone please advise?
T roaming and KT twophone service are both from korean carriers, maybe you have a wrong CSC installed or your /efs/imei/mps_code.dat is messed up.
Try to download and install the latest firmware of your region using Samfirm and if it still doesn't solve the problem, open up /efs/imei/mps_code.dat and see if matches your region name.
OK so I D/L the firmware again and same thing...
I checked /efs folder and its empty, maybe the content is hidden? Anyways my device has its IMEI and I can use it to make calls... thoughts?

You need smart switch on your pc, enter your imei number in smart switch and it will download correct firmware according to your imei, then flash it. Good Luck

Hello, this smart switch method is obsolete. Use odin to re-flash your stock rom in case of any issues. Be sure to use correct and matching binary firmware.

Google Pay/Wallet

I'm a user who really loves these apps - however they are not available in my region and when I download download them I am told "Google Pay is updating at the moment, so you won't be able to access the app." Is there any way at all to fix this? I can install any apps needed, as long as they don't need root.
You can use a foreign VPN or change the CSC on your phone to launch the app without this message, but the payment itself will still remain an issue.
Sorry I'm new to this. What would changing my CSC do? I have the UK BTU one. And how would I do it?
Also which apps are the one which the VPN needs to change? I'm using Orbot.
Note that if you're rooted Google Wallet may detect it and stop you from using it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/discussion-google-pay-magisk-discussion-thread.3906703

Not rooted, it used to work until I updated it.
I have a non-rooted Galaxy S20+, Germany (DBT) CSC and it's stuck in Google Pay is updating.
Tried clearing data/cache and uninstalling/reinstalling Google Play Services and Google Pay.
Have had this issue for months and I ignored it, but now that Google Wallet is a thing I wanted to try it but no luck.
Any ideas?
try this:
1) unlock bootloader
2) fastboot erase cust
3) relock bootloader
see if it works that way after setup.
P.S.
You must enter a pin code during setup for google pay to show up.
Hi guys,
I am posting here in hopes that my solution will help you also!
I have a stock Mate 20 Pro and a few days ago after a factory reset I,ve encountered the "Google Pay is updating at the moment, so you won't be able to access the app." error.
I am from Romania and here GPay transformed onto GWallet. But never the less the error is the same. I've tried all solutions found on the Internet but none worked( clear cache for G play services and G play store, uninstal and reinstall GWallet app, install older versions of GPay and GWallet, even formatted the phone once more). Nothing worked.
The solution that worked for me and there is no reference of it over the net:
1. Find/install on the phone the proprrietary wallet app. Eg: For Huawei - Huawei Wallet, for Samsung - Samsung wallet/Samsung Pay.
2. Open it and give permissions to everything that is asking for. Go until adding a card if it lets you but do not add it.
3. Close the app.
4. Open Google Wallet / Google Pay depending on the country you're in.
5. Enjoy once again GPay!
Hope this will help!
