Camera improvements in 4.4.4

All, are the any improvements in 4.4.4 prior to previous version?
Can you share some images?

Op asked about camera improvements and you post a link to bugs thread? Not sure I see the relation. To the Op I haven't noticed any improvements over 4.4.2 but they're apparently are some from what I remember of the Sony change log.

People mentioned that the startup lag was fixed and that auto mode is less noisy.

For me starup lag is gone, did you install 4k mod?

for me startup lag is gone.. & flash bleed is not there..
every pic i clicked with flash on in superior auto is without any flash bleed.. i dont know how no one is mentioning about this in any forum post.. or is it only me who now got flash bleed issue solved???

yup i did, but after playing 10 minutes with dinosaurs n horror mod, camera starts to get laggy throttling kicking in probably.

The problem is the 4k Slowmotion mod, it brings startup lag back to 4.4.4
If you removes the mod lags desapears, at least for me

Re installing full ftf ROM or restoring a nandroid

The 4k port currently is using the apk and lib files from 4.4.2. If you flash it over 4.4.4 rom though the camera will work but you will bring back all the old problem. We will need to wait the 4k port project update to 4.4.4 ver.
The stock 4.4.4 camera should be more stable(no more FC or camera not available), consume lesser power to partly solve the over-hearing problem and the photo quality is a bit improved as reported(lesser noise).

In my case (stock 4.4.4+newroot legavy method) from time to time my camera freezes after take a shot or after shot go to album and go back to camera and black screen for 2-3s but as i mentioned from time to time not always. I had 3 times after shot sign that my camera is unavaible and i must restart app and there is no photo must do photo again

I am afraid that is an hardware bug common to all z1c. Pretty rare but you must restart the phone, otherwise you'll have this black screen always with no possibility to record the picture.

I dont restart my phone just wait and next photo is good and in case this sign about camera click back button and start app again and its ok. Today i had both situation

Nice review, but have some question for you,
Do you experience any kind of stutter or lagg on this phone?
Like the G3, if the screen brightness to high all the time, the phone gives you a warning and toggles its down... Have this phone that any kind of bugs to?
What about the photo's you took in your review movie. On what kind of mode you took the photo? Auto mode? Or manual mode?

Bad camera performance

To be honest after using zf2(4gb) I am totally not satisfied with the camera, anyone have the same feeling as me also?

I cant say I am perfectly happy But I dont find it unsatisfactory either. Personally In Sunny days I use Auto mod, in most other condition I use HDR mode.
Difference between Mods is very clear, I would post pics here if I could to show it, Imho With This Phone I can take good picture quite often. So are you (ıf you are here/xda) But Not everybody as often as They like. You just need to work on mods a little, So it wont be as easy as Galaxy or Lg phone.

Do you have optimization turned on? Is so turn it off, it is crappy software. Other that this being turned on by default the camera is fine for a phone.

For the sunny day it did take some great shots but the performance goes down when there's not enough light, for example as in night time. What mods are you keep referring to, may I know some ?

Hdr greatly helps at less than ideal lighting. I dont use night mode or low lighting mode, Manuel mode is better than those mode if you have a stady hand.

The HDR process is quite slow on zf2 so if your hand is shaking even slightly your image comes out blur

My ZF2 is around 1 year old and the camera has blurry images and overexposure!

My ZenFone 2 is more than a year old and still takes the same quality images as it did on day 1.
A tip for the users: If you happen to move your phone from low to high temperature areas and vice versa frequently, then condensation will cause camera performance to deteriorate. You can take apart the phone and wipe the camera lens to perfection with a lint free cloth and also the other(inner) side of the outside glass. That should bring it back to normal.

Time to take picture (camera launch speed)

There! Something just happened! Did you take a picture of it? Rate this thread to express how fast the Nokia 9 PureView can go from "zero to picture". A higher rating indicates that launching the camera app and taking a photo is extremely fast such that you never miss an important moment, like when your cat attacks the couch again.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I'm really interested into the shooting performance.
So any "final version" user please let us know how big the delay is between shoots when shooting a series of Photos.
Let's hope it's minimal!

From what I've read, the shots are processed in the background and there isn't any delay in taking the next shot. I'm curious about the buffer tho.

Read this too the other day. Let's hope the buffer is large enough to cover 4-5 shoots.
I guess processing will take 4 - 8 seconds per picture. This would not surprise me.

The processing time differs based on the scene, and which settings are active. I've had some outside shots take between 15-20 seconds to process, and photos with less detail involved only take 3-5 seconds.
With everything active, there's about a half-second delay between shots. Even if you keep tapping the button, it won't take another shot immediately. I haven't noticed any limit on total number able to be processed at once though. I think the most I had at once was 11.

Thanks for the feedback. Am I guessing correct that this was on a pre series model?
Half a second delay is acceptable, I guess that's normal.

Not sure what you mean by 'pre series'. I've had mine since March 1. It's the retail version.

So, I’ve purchased the Nokia 9 from and downloaded a compatible pixel 3 camera mod… Question, do all five-camera work as one on third party camera applications as well, night scape using five camera lenses awesome.

I can't answer for sure, but I highly doubt it. I think the app has been customized to use all 5 together and stitch the image together when all the settings are enabled. Since you can disable the extra stuff, I imagine it would only use the main 2 cameras when using a third party app. Seems like it's software controlled.

Then that is good in my view because I can use the Nokia camera app to access all five cameras for pro photos and GCAM using the 2 RGB cameras for great point – shoot photos (like pixel 3 xl)

Could also be, that you are using just one Camera.

Can you share the link to the APK of the pixel camera mod you are using? Haven't been able to run one that doesn't force quit every time.

I believe the long processing for the photos is a Nokia app bug, because i was able to find a workaround. This issue appeared on my Microsoft nokia as well. The work around i found to get them processed immediately is after you take your pictures, create a new text message or send yourself a text message, and add the pictures you just took to the text message. You dont have to send the text message and you dont have to add them all, just one that is processing. then you can go back in photos and it will be done processing.

No, the speed didn't get any better than before (maybe slightly, but not enough to really care/notice). They're supposed to be releasing another update soon. Honestly though, I doubt there's too much they can do about the picture processing time. With all the work going on in the background, I don't think they'll be able to speed it up much.
One thing I do hope they address though is the killing of background apps. If you take a picture with all the data turned on (RAW, depth, etc...), it seems to kill most background apps to free up space to process. That seems like overkill to me. Maybe free up a little space, but it seems overly aggressive.

Bummer, well I will wait a bit till its fully available here and test it at MediaMarkt.
I was really hoping for a flagship AndroidOne. But an unusable FP and a crapy Cam isn't worth the price.
Sadly there are zero alternatives....

Yes try outside under natural light.
Most indoor lighting now is PWM. The frequency is high enough that human can see the flicker but the slow motion features certainly do.

It's weird not doing it now but in certain light indoors it flickers bad like said maybe different light conditions making it do it just wanted make sure wasn't my phone or update caused it, [emoji106]

Yes if the light isn't CW (continuous wave) source it will show up. Worst offenders are LEDs powered off 60Hz mains with nothing but a diode in series. (Cheap Christmas lights) Tree will look ON to the eye but fast shutter speeds and capture make it look like a seizure inducing flickering/shimmering mess!
