[REQUEST] Xbox One Smartglass app - Windows 8 General

The Xbox One is not officially launched in my country yet thus i cannot download the Smartglass application for Windows 8.1 (PC-Tablet version).
Can somebody who has access to this app upload it and give me a link to download?
Please.
I found a beautiful thread on the Android forum here in the site that you can make requests for applications that are locked in your region of Google Play Store and there i found the smartglass application for my android devices but no luck for my Windows 8 device.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Someone could provide it for you (I won't) however you will need a developer key to side load the app. We do not support installing apps without a developer ID because of piracy.

So as i understand the installation process for Windows 8 Store apps is a lot different than anything from the past or the equivalent for Windows Phone 8 and Android. I do not have a Dev key anyway ....
Thank you for information.
I learned something today I didn't know this because i do not own a Windows 8 device (i needed that app for a friend) and your information led me to search google and get more info on Sideloading on Windows 8.

[X] WApps - A windows mobile "appstore"

I got the idea to make a application finder software for Windows Mobile. Specially designed to HTC Diamond, with many G-apps & games and other nice apps. It's under development now, and i will release one screenshot for you.
This app will not be just an styled IE-frame, like many "appstore" like apps that have been released before.
19. October 2008:
New Screenshot of the start screen.
Development stopped, becouse of the Gecko project.
I think this is a phenominal idea. The idea that went around recently was an internet based solution through ie explorer and it just was not device friendly. To have a device based solution is much more sensable. If you could create a server that developers could upload their most recent programs too that would be the best.
Maybe contact the system admin on this site and see if he will give your program to access the sites FTP server or something. Then a user could use your device based program that would seemlessly connect to the interenet in the back ground, poll the server for software, sort it and place it into a thumb friendly interface on the phone by which it could be sorted into categories of games, utilities, themes, programs etc etc....
Of course the admin would have to create those categories on the site's side and the developers would need to upload their program to the correct one but I think everyone has been in such a need for this that they would be willing to do it without much arm twisting.
Or, you could create device user interface that interacts with Orb.com... But then you would have to get the updates of programs and upload them to ORB for your program to work. But ORB does already have a sorting feature that your user controls on the device could be made to access for sorting etc. It even has a video section that a user could download tutorials of different programs that someone took time to make.
All just ideas. Some you may find good or not. I am excited to see a device based program though. It make user intereaction easier.
Curious G.
yes
Its a good idea, keep working on it
seems to be a nice idea
I like the idea but this really depends on what will be offered / how updated the actual site behind the store application is. Have you had any thoughts on that yet?
i second that.
at this time i browse via opera tho xda to download stuff... but having a app that simplifies things would be even better...
maybe all the downloads here could be managed and put upto "youre" server in an automated way..
I remember seeing this article a few weeks ago about Microsoft creating their own app store.
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/n.../job-advert-reveals-microsoft-skymarket.phtml
Either way, it's certainly a good idea!!
I forward the notion. An app that has all the apps at hand for easy download by category would kick some serious asss..
If I can help in any way let me know.
Greetings to all.
Love this development. Maybe this progress will open up eyes on new skilful programmers and we will see an increase of good looking apps and games. Not that I don't just love the things going on here at xda. But the more the merrier, right? The only complaint that I might have on this forum is the all the threads with wallpapers and especially the ones with half-naked women...But that's me...
So an app store (or two) is going to make it easier for us to sort out what we are interested in and only that.
If needed count me in I can help develop..
Great idea.
In the spirit of AppToDate, which I found worked very very well. But with YouTube-app like interface, all connected to database were latest apps can get installed.
Great idea!
I'm working to figure out how to connect to MySQL from a windows mobile based device, does anyone here know?
double post****
i think if these two threads could be incorporated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428480
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433913
that would be a good way to do storage
each developer could use have there own account and then whenever they updated there app they update the wapps link via web or give it like some type of flash capabilities that would be really great
or there could be a generic account that ever one uses to upload too
looks like this is in the works http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436127
maybe some collabo might be nice
Nice project!! GoOd Luck!!
If there was a way to advertise this app when it gets made. the diamond would sell millions
Why not just modify a RSS feed reader?

Maybe Sqlite is more accurate for a mobile device ?
And you just download the sqlite file available on a server, this way requests would be very fast.

Yes, every time you start it will update from the web or you can click on a button to update (or an 'update every x minutes' function
please keep up the hard work!!!!! love to see this appstore happen!

[WARNING] To all CoPilot users

Dear CoPilot users,
Over the last month I have been having a bit of a battle with the makers of CoPilot 8, ALK, with regards to my license which I purchased in early 2010.
Like many of you here, I'm a bit of a compulsive phone updater, be it new windows builds, android or this new android NAND stuff.
Anyway, every time I flashed a ROM, I'd have to reactivate Co-Pilot over the internet. No problem. However, one day, it stopped working, saying that my code was invalid!! Much to my horror, I sent ALK an e-mail asking what had happened. Here was my response.
Discussion Thread
---------------------------------------------------------------
Response (Brandt) - 08/11/2010 11.45 AM
Dear Jon,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Unfortunately the reason why you are no longer able to continue activating CoPilot is our Activation server has seen that you have reached the maximum permitted activation limit for a product.
Unfortunately there is nothing further I can do to unlock your Product Key Code to allow for further activations as this falls under excessive uses of activation.

Well, I didn't realise I could only activate so many times before the product was no longer mine. So I did some fishing through my T&C's for CoPilot 8 and there is no actual figure to indicate what "the maximum permitted activation limit for a product" is.
So I replied with an e-mail to that effect, saying that there is nothing in black and white for me to have known this. A month later they finally got back to me and said that I can now reactivate my code.
Now - I can understand what's happened. From their server's point of view, lots of people could be using my code on a large number of devices. So how do you get around this?
Well, every time you go to flash a new ROM, **MAKE SURE YOU DEACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE FIRST**!!
In settings (assuming you have show all settings selected), you will see a license button. Select your map in the list of things and press deactivate.
If you do this then you will be okay. But I suspect ALK will be updating their T&C to prevent this from occurring again.
Anyway, I hope that saves some of you from some potential trouble in the future.
why dont you backup & restore using titanium?
works for me
as far as im aware the activation code is linked to your phones IMEI, so it doesnt matter how many times you change your build, (with the same os) if restoring from backup
this is common practice with drm'd software.
the solution is just not to use it.
In The windows ver .. there is a file called : licp8.dat
That keeps your lic Info ...
Wonder if there is one for thr Android ???
then it will not matter
Just Found This ..
Requirements:
- A *LEGAL* copy of CoPilot 8 for Windows Mobile and the license key
- The latest version of CoPilot 8 for Android (works in Froyo now) Link to ALK Web Site
I bought it about 8 months ago for my HD2, for Windows Mobile 6.5. Great piece of software. I contacted ALK to ask if I could transfer between OS's and they said no, it wouldn't work! It also clearly states on their web site that transfers don't work:
Link
So being stubborn, I thought I'd take my own license from WinMo and deactivate it, stick it into Android and needless to say - it works and I have a fully legal copy of CoPilot 8 running on my Android Froyo device. Those cheeky beggers at ALK!!!
So how to get it working:
•Make sure you still have CoPilot installed under Windows Mobile and activated;
•Launch CoPilot. Go to the Menu|Settings|Licensing (NOTE: If you can't see this, find "More Settings" and select that first to show Licensing);
•Select your Map Region from the list (Mine was UK and Ireland), then press "Deactivate";
•CoPilot will now shut down;
•Boot into Android and using an installer, install the APK file which is in the requirements section at the top of the page or here;
•Open CoPilot from the Menu and it will ask for your license info. Enter this as you did when you first bought CoPilot (usually a username and password);
•Bada Bing. That should be it, all working!
Just to clarify one further time, this is only for legally purchased licenses. No questions about dodgy software please. Thank you.

If Instagram were to create a WP7 app, now that they have direct access to the camera, would it work on current phones? Or would these apps only run on phones that have mango installed?
What I'm basically curious about is whether we have to wait until Mango before we see apps taking advantage of the new SDK, APIs etc.

You have to wait to mango.. New apis just work on Mango
Its been said there is a MANGO BETA version to download for free... out there. But where exactly is the download file so i can download it on my htc hd7 ? If however i new how to install it though.
Someone said you need to private someone for the file and another said you msut register for it. How could so when the actual thing is free to download it aniways ? WP7 dont force anyone to register or pvt someone for the mango beta version file aniways.
Mamon

sandra
p.s heres the download file for MANGO BETA for free you only get some things available. Not everything within the 500 features just yet. But here are just some what to expect. But works. Only for WP7 phones.

Who ever says to you to pvt me for the file or to register here before you download it... Is quite suspisous because like i said wp7 will never make you prvt someone for the download file and secondly you do not register just to download the file. Just so long you own a Windows phone 7 and download it for your phone.
Bingo

not just the android, all the iphone apps too. that's great!!
the SDK is the tool that converts the applications for free from droid/IOS to the WP7 platform, just installed Mango on my HD7 with the link you provided, it was a bit complicated I had to reset the DNS and insert a new character after the carriage return, but it works great, thanks a lot!!! I converted all of my wife's iphone apps in 10 minutes

Pretty sure that's just the developer tools... No actual ROM for installing on an actual device.... Maybe that's what people are trying to keep private as don't think MS want it out there just yet!
I can't wait for this release as I just got my hd7.
The
link is nit working can someone repost it or send it to me please.

A really newbie question im would like to start developing some aplications for mango i know a litle of visual basic, so i would like to ask what is the programing languge is used to develop apps for mango? Thank you very much

[NEWS] It looks like Windows 10 Insider Program is almost here!

just found this app in the store... http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/phone-insider/ed2b1421-6414-4544-bd8d-06d58ee402a5 published on 12/11/14
Looks like we will be seeing things soon on the Windows Technical Preview front!
And before anyone asks the obvious questions:
1) Can we hack this to get us new pre-release software?
No. It's pointing at the an Azure AD server that only allows for internal Microsoft domain users to sign in to it. It's also determining whether that user is in the Insiders program. Also, the web requests that show the available software and data to the user are authenticated requests which means that unless we have a valid auth token with Microsoft's Azure server they are using for this, we aren't getting anything.
It's assumed that they will possibly update this app before/on/maybe a little after the 21st and point it to the same server that's used to verify that your Live account is in the Windows Insider program (again, don't even think about logging in with your live account to this program because IT WILL NOT WORK).
I will say that this IS INDEED the app that will allow us to update to the Windows 10 for Phone Preview when it appears.
Damn I need to turn my Windows phone and check out that app in the store.

I hope the older Lumias like 520/620 will be upgraded to windows 10, so there won't be a situation like when they introduced Win Phone 8 which wasn't available to Win 7 owners.
It will be for all devices as mentioned earlier
seems like there is also an update:

Thank you! I really like my Nokia Lumia 620, also my relatives have 2 WinPhones. Hope MS will continue to follow "client oriented approach", only this can help it increase its marketshare.
UPDATE

creating a WP10 app online

well, i come from android and still use it.
Now i bought me a Lumia 520 as mp3 player (as a 32gb microSD and the lumia is much cheaper than ANY mp3-player of size 16gb +)
I successfully upgraded my Lumia tp Win10 preview and kinda like it.
Now i'm about to personalize the lumia for my needs as mp3-player/navigation and maybe some internet features. (like local transoirtation).
So far so good, now i thought "why not have an app where i can view my website on one click?" "or how about a custom running order app for a concert?" (without any programming knowledge).
On android, there is no problem: http://www.appsgeyser.com/create-url-app/
Appsgeyser lets me create an embedded Website or a "list of information" at one click with custim icons, theming, ect for free with easy to use layout and no programming knowledge.
Now i looked, if there is something like that for Windows Phone 10. Well the windows 10 app studio by Microsoft seems to have some of the features. (listing, theming, rss-feed, yet no embedding of an existing web-page), but it is yet not open / not supported for WP10.
Maybe some of you have stumbled over such a website. It has to be free and does not need many skinning/menu features. A simple list or website-embed is enough for me.
Thanks in advance.
Update: I've tried a bit more and found a solution:
Just create Windows Phone 8.1 Apps in the appstudio.
Download your file (appx) and send it to your livemail account linked to your phone.
Have a QR code scanner and scan the QR code for the "Install Windows Phone 8.1 Certificate".
Open the downloaded/scanned link on your phone and login to your live account and you'll get a file.
Open that file and you'll be prompted for some Microsoft Developer something or similar. Allow it.
Now open your email with the sent file you send yourself per mail ^ and open the appx and it should install.
Then you have your new own WP app.
