There are still quite some bugs to sort out and obvious features to add like MMS support. However many of those might get fixed once they manage to release the OS for wider audiences, not only Jolla phones. Exciting months to come for Sailfish OS!

REQ: Nexus s honeycomb rom

I was wondering. Now that the honeycomb sdk was released will therebe ports to nexus s and who is working on it?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm sure there will be. You should add [REQ] to the topic
Sent from my Darkginger CM7 Google Nexus S!
Can't wait to see what the developers have in store for us in the future. I love my Nexus S
* the SDK is an early port and not fully working.
* The OS is made for tablet and will look unusable on your device...
I think you should wait for the official release.
By the way, I am impressed by the lack of dev's on the Nexus S, we have only CM7 coming and the ROM's can be counted on the fingers of one hand!

it will work on lower resolution such as 800x480 (eg. nexus s size)
we just have to have adw or launcher pro as the home.

Sometimes it's about the quality of Roms, not necessarily the numbers. Cyanogenmod is the most significant rom since it is built from aosp not ota.
Honeycomb is built for tablets. Sure smartphone version will come but honestly a sdk port isn't worth a daily driver. Well have to see.

I know this is old, but they have a release out, but it has far too many flaws to be near stable, it's still in alpha

Its being worked on so I have faith it'll turn around. More devs are joining the project by the day. It'll get usable fast as long as there are devs willing to work on it and people willing to waste time testing it hehe

Well, I could port this, but "ports" are always dirty and I prefer bulding from source, so we should rather wait until teamdouche (Cyanogenmod) upgrade their repos.
Or do you want it really that badly ?
I read somewhere that the release date is in mid-July. Unless everybody is itching for it I would just as well have you guys trudge on with your new kernel endeavor which I am excited about :-D Thanks OP for the link!

given that my TF101 just got relegated to "toy" status , then yes

Very unlikely that this will work at all, as it would have been compiled with NEON extensions enabled, which the Tegra 2 does not have. Best to wait for the source to be released.

OxygenOs is out

Just saw it was released, who's porting it to the nexus 6? Sucks PA is dead for now but I'm sure oxygen will be good
Isn't oxy os just aosp with a few minor tweaks ?
Sent from my Nexus 6
Yes it is but none the less always nice to see new things. And arnt all Roms a modified aosp? Cm,omni
I would love to see a port! And it bumped to 5.1 woohoo!
Not open source or for this device so pretty unlikely

Android is open source yes however the skins, customizations and frameworks companies do to it are not.
Is there much of a need for a pott of this anyway? Its got less features than cyanogen nightlies have atm and is pretty much a very basic ROM as it stands atm. Most of the things CM12s didn't even make it over to oxygen (yet)
I do hope the PA guys can now get a new build out for everyone else soon. The gerrit had a a couple of weeks of no movement there.

what are they pissed of? so far PA is doing quite well then suddenly development stopped from 5.0 onwards.
Looks very AOSP to me now, only a few minor tweaks.
hope someone could port this!

I don't know anything about this particular situation but my read is that they got an actual paying job to make Oxygen so PA got put on the back burner. If they got hit by some flank on XDA over some issues it would further drive them into paid work vs unpaid as PA is a very non-funded project. I doubt we'll see a port of this. The big push from OnePlus with going with there own custom OS was some mix of butthurt about cyanogen and the ability to further control the OS/have unique features. I am also very certain that there job contract will exclude them from being able to 'port' features from OxygenOS back into PA or some other rom.
There is literally nothing unique to OxygenOS this early in the game. It's AOSP with QS customizations and the gestures from ColorOS.

Same as OxygenOS, yes
My question is, do they plan on releasing the code for the open source community? if not will all the trolls and flamers who said cygn was super evil for not releasing source to CM11S, do the same here? Of course not because hating CM is cool. I lost lot of respect for the PA devs after their continued CM bashing over the last few months, continually pointing out how CM11S source was never released, yet it will be the same with oxygenos.

They just have no business sense. Now that they're getting paid to code, they understand they don't own the code they produce, the people that pay them for their work own it. Same thing with Cyanogen, they can't get investors to put money into software that is publicly published or it isn't worth anything. Problem with that situation is that a lot of CM commits were made by the community not solely by the guys who started it.

trust me, i agree with what you just said. I have preached that to the zealots who wanted to flame cyanogen, like you said it wasnt cyanogens code to share because of the deal with one plus. No one seemed to understand that.

meh nice.. but source?

Ok, Honor 8 in every page than we open on xda..
but, do we know if they're going to release the source code?
so we can get rid of this emui and install CM without too many bug..

You can start working even if you don't have the source from Huawei, We did that on the P8 Lite (Kirin 620) and no one gave us any source.
I have heard that the Honor development department is reviewing the requests list that XDA sent. (However I can't find that list, maybe I am wrong). @svetius knows for sure.
EDIT:
I read about it here: http://www.xda-developers.com/honor-8-xda-review/#Dev

Still no official release, but I guess by the end of this month.
EMUI is good, but personally I perfer CM more.
I don't know. I like EMUI, using it with my Honor 6. But I feel that devs here could really improve it much much more thant Honor themselves could. I really hope that Honor/Huawei will release the source for their SOCs, as they are some really, really good ones.

Every time I read the word 'Source' at this section I think that people are not getting the point. If you think that a 'source' is what you need to magically have CM, AOSP etc then you are wrong, what you need is an interested developer (more than one if possible) who owns the phone (90% of the people posting, including me, don't).
This means that:
a) If Honor releases any kind of 'source', that doesn't mean that it's going to be complete, clear, or useful for porting roms (like the kernel, it isn't needed for that )
b) Even if they release something (and I doubt they will), it's not going to be 'plug and play'.
What I mean is, don't get too excited with any 'source' that comes from Huawei, the only way to know if this phone is developer-friendly is by waiting until you see projects coming.
I'm looking for a phone and so far the Honor 8 seems the most interesting for me. None of the other available phones really caught my interest. Nexus 5x, new google phone or Mi5 maybe but they all have flaws. And I really want something with NFC.
I'm not a fan of glass back phones but it does look real fancy on this one. No selling point but a nice bonus.
I'm planning on doing 'something' with the honor 8 if I get one. Kernel sources would help I guess. Haven't really messed with system code yet, just apps.
Hope they release it soon if they haven't yet.
Does Huawei normally release their sources? The Xiaomi Mi5 looks nice on hardware level (but no sd card slot) but I'm still a bit weary of Xiaomi.
Well even if they don't, we can still make EMUI based roms right?
Good luck to all developers. Hope I'll be one of you soon

Yes, but you can find them inside a firmware update or even at your own firmware.
The problem is, that Huawei instead of creating their own files (they created some), they modified the ones that were already there, so there are lots of incompatibilities.

well, we have Lineage. Could be coming some others soon, wouldn't be surprising. Likely Oreo roms when they ready.
I hope so. The phone is already pretty stock and lineage isn't that feature rich like PA or miui. I flashed the Oreo update and am loving it so far. Super smooth and battery life is amazing. I hope they at least feature the Oreo launcher with the official release.
Paranoid Android should be a given on this phone. I only ever saw both of them working hand in hand...
But if none of their devs buys one or someone buys on for the devs we are SOL...
