Never, the phone is fully closed and it won't be possible to run anything else then WP. Best thing to do is sell it. (Or trow it out of a window and have more fun then you can have with Windows Phone:good

it's very sad to read this, i was wondering the same about to port sailfish to any lumia device, and now that seems to be impossible. i think that the best thing to do it's buy and android and wait for any sailfish rom.

If you want a phone with the (best) ability to flash other OSs (ie sailfish, Ubuntu touch, firefoxOS), get a nexus device.

Optimus7 vs Android

It's possible onto this apparatus android to make an operating system?
You want to load up Android on a WP7 device...and ruin it? Why? Do not be so cruel...
if you want Android, then just buy a Android phone and get annoyed with apps that litterly eat your battery and fragmentation .please Leave wp7 alone

This was a reasonable remark, please neglect the one like this!
Please don't compare those two diferent worlds WM is from Wenus and Android is from Mars. I think so that you know what I mean
And WP7 is from ... Mercury...
So tell me from is a Symbian maybe Halley's comet

AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh ahahahah ahahah ah aha ha ah in other words, lol!!!!!
Have you tried android device?
I have an lg optimus 7 and a Samsung galaxy s... OMG.
One of this is a real device with a real OS. which one?
it's not the optimus
/suggest off
Android>ios>webos>bada>bbOS>wp7>symbian
This is the fact.
And
Wp7=feature phone
Android=true smartphone.
I was missing the trolls here. Good to see you guys.
LOL why u haven´t buyed a hd2
where u have WP7, Android, Windows mobile, ubuntu, Meego, ... donno what the future brings...
BTW: i buyed this phone only for testing and development.

So do I. I think a wp7 gui i very comfortible and useful. Imho the future belongs to wp7 phones.
I was here for a simple wi-fi ad hoc connection and to know if is possible wi fi sharing (now I know that it's so difficult but not impossible) for my lg optimus 7.
Sorry guys, not for offende noone but it's true that wp7 is easy but smartphone IMHO are mini pc and for me they must be able to navigate (if free it's better), have native multitasking, have flash for a best browsing experience, a little bit of game, just for fun or as timekiller, and some tool for syncronize calendar and mail for business. I'm an ex wm 6.1 lover with htc diamond and others, an apple's hater for restricted policy and wp7 is going in this direction. So for me, and I'm so sorry for this, wp7 have all the defects of osx Without the benifits of apple store. The only benifits over apple is that I can choose an economic device or high end device, but there's no compare with Android. Please, try a Samsung Galaxy S or Desire HD with a cooked rom and with lagfix actived. Now my lg optimus 7 is a paperweight.....

Yes, I think that hd2 it's the most beautiful window's device, better than osx and wp7, very close to Android, the only problem the lag after long use...

Maybe this Android freedom is interesting for who is discovering this kind of thing now, but as a former user of Symbian and WinMo for the last 5 years, this "freedom" isn't interesting for me anymore.
I don't need a "mini PC" in my pocket, I just want to do what I need to do quickly, and for that, WP7 is the best for me.
I don't know for you guys, but I get sick of all those menus and sub-menus to access everything I need on Symbian/WinMo/Android.
I would like to get a little bit more freedom on WP7, but I still can do all I need to do, so it's ok.
Don't you trolls have a cave gathering somewhere? I could swear it was the troll mating season.

Firefox OS on HD2?

Well, someone work on port of the Firefox OS into HD2?
Wytapatalkowane za pomocą HTC HD2
No.
You can be first, my friend.
I prefer open WebOS on hd2

I think, we can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805282
I tried to run this, but I can't make kernels
Drivers and libs we can add from android...
that would be awesome:good:
it will be perfect.html5+ccs

looking frwd for that
If there isn't already anyone trying to port this, I may make an attempt. However, I've never ported an operating system before, so it'd likely take a bit of time.

Yeah, Firefox OS would be nice, but I would agree that Open webOS would be a more worthwhile effort.
Honestly, I would have done it myself if only I knew how to do it.
I would do it of I had an hd2...

me, too. I have the chance to buy it for 100 euros. is it worthwhile?
Simple answer...... Yes even if you don't use it as your daily phone.....Yes
OK since no one is really doing anything
...
I will throw up a build in the next few days that most likely wont work. If anyone wants to test, do it and tell me if it boots or not
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
This was actually something I'd thought of right away. I tried to cook a few Android ROMS so I know a little something. But unfortunately I don't know how to port Firefox OS. Though Android Kitchen has a function to help you porting the OS. Somebody who can post a link to the download? And Open WebOS?
Edit:
I tried porting the Galaxy Nexus version, but with no luck. I've spent a few hours trying different kinds of methods to make it work. I ended up flashing the thing, but then I got a bad NAND from MAGLDR. I think my boot.img (or zImage) don't work.
Edit2:
Then again, I'm no developer. If a developer could guide me through porting, making/analysing (boot) files, I'd be happy to try again. For now, my try ends here.
Edit 3:
Though this may help a little:
Mozilla's guide to port Firefox OS: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Porting
HTC HD2 (LEO)'s manifest: https://github.com/manhthiep/repo-manifests/blob/master/b2g_htcleo.xml
CM's drivers and stuff: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_leo
Tytung's drivers and stuff: https://github.com/tytung/android_kernel_htcleo-2.6.32-ics
It is very good idea. HD2 can run Firefox OS same as Android.
but I am worry about software support for this new operating system.
While that is true, Firefox OS has aimed for low budget devices. Which will probably support only small games and apps. Doesn't mean that it gets full support, but since it's based on linux also, it sure must be easier to port it to FFOS.
While we're at it. Why not try Ubuntu Touch? xD

of course. also Ubuntu is a good choice for HD2 owners.
I hope that we can have Ubuntu or Android on our HD2 devices soon.
Ubuntu and Android are both already available on our HD2's, but you probably meant the Ubuntu Touch and Firefox OS

Porting

For the 8X, will it be possible to port android, similar to how it has been done for the HD2?
Sent from my Cellular Telephone, which can do magic things over the internet.
Or for the One X, will it be possible to port win 8???
I'm pretty sure they (devs) will get android working on the 8x...
We have never seen Android run on any Windows Phone since the release of Windows Phone 7. Especially with the use of Secure Boot in WP8 this gets a lot harder. So it might be possible but I guess it won't happen anytime soon.
I dont think its possible...other WP7 devices have hardly got an unlock..only lumia 710 has
and WP8 has a secure boot so hacking it seems to be impossible....iv been waiting since the 710 unlock for an unlock for lumia 800, nothing till now...:/
so dont keep hopes with WP.
if you want a port, if you want open source, if you want customization buy an android phone, though i dont like android much..doesnt have the smooth WP feel!
Just get an Android device, problem solved

LOL , just one week and the stupid android q's are already popping up.
personally I hope android will NEVER be ported to any MS product again
why ?????
if you want android just buy yourself a android phone , if you got a wp/other phone for free then sell it and by yourself the phone you like.
Mod please close thread.

Which is why they make android and WP devices. And why WP has secure boot. Because its Windows. Its closed source. Which is why I'm also keeping my Inspire.

Which one device i must to buy?

Since couple of months i am thinking to change OS (which now is WP) . I dont like their politic at all and their locked devices. Because i hate iOS for the same reason, but android its just .....not my OS, i decided to start use sailfish. I follow almost any news i can read at the web , and really want to learn this OS, but jolla (the cell phone ) will be too expensive for me - 400 euro are my month salary ( i live in Bulgaria ) i want to buy any android phone, and to port with sailfish.
My asking is which one phone would be better to buy, for sure it can run all sailfish OS smooth, fully functional ?
Thanks in advanced for the answers

The likely candidates are Oppo phones, and a nexus phones, as they are more open than others.

True... But I would wait for the OS to be released before asking which phone will it be ported to
OP, I'd recommend just waiting for the release, and after one or two months ask again.

i really want multirom and bcmon also on the oneplus one what else needs to get ported to the oneplus?
Sailfish/MultiROM for the OnePlus One
I'm familiar enough with the process of porting/building SailfishOS that I could probably get it running on the OnePlus One in less than a weekend. The hardware looks similar enough to the Nexus 5 - at least as far as the Qualcomm parts are concerned - that it should be a fairly simple port.
I've been trying to save up for a new phone for a while, but I haven't found one that I like enough to buy at unlocked-phone prices.
Call me cheap, but I felt like I overpaid for my Nexus 4 - which I probably did, because I traded a tablet for it.
I don't tend to develop low-level stuff like this for phones I don't own or at least plan to buy, but I have a long history of "porting" Linux distributions (mainly Debian and non-Unity, "desktop" Ubuntu) to Android phones by modifying the kernel to load the root filesystem from a microSD card, among other things.
Before you get too excited, remember that I may or may not be able to get everything working immediately - just look at how long camera support has been missing from Sailfish on the Nexus 4. On that note, the Sailfish camera HAL is in flux right now, but once it stabilizes, getting the cameras working should be easier.
By the time I get an invite and get around to buying a One, there's bound to be other people working on it, especially if this is as important as I think it is.
TL;DR: In a few weeks I should have money, in another few weeks I should have a device, and shortly after that there should be code.
I'm pretty confident that it should be relatively easy to get the port started, but don't expect miracle-speed progress towards getting all the hardware working.

MULTIROM for the Oneplus is a port, the Sailfish support is a reflection of this. You'll need a working image of Sailfish .. AFAIK no-one has made one yet for the Oneplus.
Anyone know if this is being developed?
I would love to see sailfish on the oneplus one. Does anyone know if this is being currently worked on or if there a compatible version out there on the net?
