have you tried a different usb cable and ports
or tried turning usb debugging on

Bro, i tested all ports, all cables... I cant find usb debug on stock rom... I even uninstall the app that i have instaled yesterday.... Don't know wat i can do.... Im not willing to do a factory reset.
Let me explain even better... I can charge my phone in the normal way... but i cant keep charging my phone on usb when i'm using the phone while charging.

Go to settings, about hit the build number 6 times that will activate developer opinions USB debugging is in there

There is probably a hardware connection issue. I believe you don't need a driver just to recharge thru usb. Are you able to make data connection to your pc using usb cable?

Your USB port will charge at a slower rate using PC-USB , if you're tethering the phone is probably discharging faster than the computer is charging - if you're on KK for example screen on will use 1700MHZ if in use so quite a drainer, Failing that, it's possible it's a faulty USB from either the computer or the device.

I'm able to make data conection with my phone and usb...
And like i said, I didn't have this problem until today... I think it coz i install crack app, or put a new sd card.

It's possible they may be causing it, the cracked App could be running anything in the B/G of your device keeping it awake hence USB not charging it as it's in use. Uninstall it (and support the Dev by buying it!!) see if it makes a difference.. Another thing is check your wakelock/battery use.. Media scanner might be eating up your battery.

Already uninstall it, same same.
Probably its Media scanner, coz I put 4.5gb of music and 1gb of photos and videos yesterday... How can i control it ?

You have to let it index the files - it varies on how long it takes, but it should reset OK on your next battery cycle at least.

Index Service and google services are consuming the most of my battery... So I have to w8, correct ? But it takes soh long, like days ?

OK, this is very simple but you need to figure out which of the following problems is yours:
1. phone is not charging at all
2. phone is charging, but at slower rate than it is discharging
1 you can test by noting battery level, shutting it down and let it charge for an hour or two, or even overnight. USB 2 should give you about 400-450 mA, battery has capacity of 3200 mA, so figure in about 8 hrs your batt.should charge from 0% to 100%. or about 10% -15% an hour.
2 you can test by watching how much discharge you have overnight: I normally have 3% -5% discharge over 7-8 hrs night, when phone is not used, but on.
If your phone discharges more than 20-30% overnight, then it will take forever to fully charge and at above about 70% discharge, it will never charge fully, since discharge rate is similar to charge rate. If that was the case you need to find what is responsible for such high discharge rate. As somebody else already mentioned if you're using phone while charging, the screen alone will take as much power as the charge can deliver, so in that case the best you can hope for is slower discharge.

My case is 2. phone is charging, but at slower rate than it is discharging, AND only on USB, on energy socket is totally normal...
I don't know, i wish my phone is indexing, coz yesterday I put tons of pdf, photos, musics and videos, but why it taking so long to index, is it normal?
My problem is so serious that if I put the phone on usb and let it away sleeping, even like that the phone slowly descharges.

Well, maybe this is the answer : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2461958
I will wait little longer to see if its continue indexing.

Sorry can''t help much with indexing, it's the first service I shutdown on all my computers and phone as well, I would imagine you have to wait it out until it's finish or root and shut it down, I don't know about you, but I very rarely search my own files, to the point it's not worth it even if the impact of indexing was miniscule. In the meantime can you force shut it down at least when not charging from outlet? Possibly it will restart, even before next boot, but maybe long enough for phone to charge.

Well i fix my problem. But I'm not satisfied.
Wat you need to do is ERASE all your PDF data. PDF files has a king of a problem with indexing on note 3.
Of course if you have a rooted device, you will have more options.
I'm not satisfied because i can't have my pdf classes on my phone, where i like to study. At least all in once.
TY FOR ALL THE CONTRIBUTION.

I think you give up too fast, you bought expensive phone, why not use it to it's full potential? One option would be to root and freeze indexing like I did. I'm not sure if that would disable searching for words all together or just slow it down, but I think that's better than nothing. Another option which I just thought of now, kind of crazy idea, but maybe it would work, rename file extension, instead of file.pdf use something like file.123 or maybe even file extension that should not be indexed like .jpg or .png. Hopefully indexer will not read file header and just skip it. When you need to read it just force open with some pdf reader, no idea if it will work but try. Another way, maybe it won't index compressed files like zip and again I don't use it so don't know how it would work in real life, but just couple ideas to try.

Battery drains way too fast

Ok I am a new member to this whole PocketPC thing since I just purchased my first PocketPC which is an i-mate JASJAM. I honestly think that it's a great product with a lot of features and potential. My problem though, lies in the fact that I haven't had the chance to enjoy it for a full day yet. Ever since I bought it, I always charge it for like 7 to 8 hours, even though it fills up after like 3, but i leave it on charge anyway, because I was told that "that's what you should do!".
Anyways, no matter how long I leave it on the charger, once i take it off the battery begins to drain like there's no tomorrow. I'm talking about going from 100% to 0% within 5 hours, while on FLIGHT MODE. If I turn the screen off then it might last for an extra hour.
Surely this can't be something normal, and I have been beating my brain trying to find a solution. As far as ActiveSync goes, I did the tweak that stops its automatic scheduled syncs, hoping that it would be the problem, but to my disappointment, no luck. Also made sure that no programs were running in the background. It came with a battery with a capacity of 1300mAh and then I bought another one hoping it was a problem with the battery. The new one had a capacity of 1350mAh, not much of a difference but it was all I could find. But there's no difference between them whatsoever, when it comes to battery life.
My first question is whether it is possible that this may be a software issue rather than a hardware issue (such as a power leak)?
If it is, then would upgrading the ROM or Radio or upgrading to WM6 make any difference?
Problem's that I don't have the phone on me right now so I can't give ROM or ExtROM versions etc., but I do know that it is running WM5 with AKU 2.3 and Radio is either 1.21 or 1.31.
N.B.: Until I get this issue sorted out, I am using a Nokia 6680 which has an average battery life of 3 days (72 hours), so should I be expecting something in the vicinity with my i-mate?
Well it sounds as if you've done all the obvious things. There is a power saving registry tweak in the wiki somewhere but that should not be necessary just to bring it to normal power consumption. If I don't use mine much (not on flight mode) I'll get a couple of days at least.
A ROM change might help a little but if you have a warranty I'd be tempted to use it. Radio change is unlikely to change things if you have been testing in flight mode.
Anybody else got ideas?
Mike
The only problem that I have with getting it fixed or replaced under warranty is that I have to send it to another country. So I am trying everything I can do before going through that hassle. So is there any test that I can carry out at home, or a certain diagnostics software that can test the phone for me?
Would a digital multimeter help if i can measure the current being drawn from the battery? What should the current rating be for the phone, is it 1A? Because there is one other interesting thing i found while just snooping around, there is a sticker that just has 5VDC and 1A written on it, and it's stuck to the phone under where the battery goes. I can only imagine that this is the voltage and current rating for the phone. The interesting part is that the battery that came with it, as well as the one i bought are both 3.7V batteries.
:-S
Best to just update your phone.... But becareful! read and research on flashing b 4 you do it... VERY IMPORTANT... USE only softwares for your phone...
I wanna make sure that anything i do doesn't void my warranty as well.
Used their offical update for your phone... However, my friend brick his phone and sent it back to the company and they replace it for him... I dunno if you would have that luck however... if ur careful and read all the information... and ur computer is stable... you shouldnt worry about it bricking ur phone...

The ratings you see written inside and the battery ratings are just standard - nothing unusual there. You could test current draw etc but even if you find it a little high it doesn't really help you to pin down a problem save to say it's the phone and not the battery. However as you have two batteries it's fairly reasonable to say it's not the battery. (reasonable but not impossible of course that two batteries are not working as they should).
Unfortunately we do not yet have our hands on the test file that HTC use.
Mike
I guess I have no choice but to get it shipped back. Thanks for your help guys.
Are you using a wall charger or a trickle-charger such as the USB Cable? The wall charger is the only way to truly charge it to full.
If you are using a USB charger or other trickle charger, after the device says it is fully charged remove it from the charger for about 2 minutes and then reconnect it. It will then charge (most of) the rest of the way.
If you don't do this, the problems gets worse and worse. After 1 day, the trickle charger may get you up to a 90% charge. After two days, 80%, etc. After a week you'll only be holding half a charge, even though the device is reporting a full charge while on the charger.
Another tip I have found is to perform a soft-reset after removing it from the charger, particularly if it has been plugged in for a long time at full charge (more than an hour or so). It seems like the device doesn't always detect that it has been unplugged and tries to suck down juice as if it were still plugged in. If you have noticed that your device gets pretty hot when the battery drains quickly, this is probably what is happening to you.
You also haven't mentioned the programs that you are using during the day. Some programs, particularly chat clients, will drain the battery in about 5 hours, though obviously you're not using anything like this while in flight mode.
One more thing. You noted that you were told that leaving it on the charger whenever possible is the thing to do. This is incorrect. The more the battery is exercised in this way, the shorter the lifespan of the battery will be. With any PocketPC device we're all bound to charge it every night, but once it is charged you want to take it off the charger. A battery being fully charged is just as bad as a battery being fully drained, so you want to keep it somewhere in between as much as possible.
My battery doesn't last either.
I've ordered an extended life battery with its own back.
I've also ordered a car charger.
I also carry my old hiptop with me when I need to switch sims.
Apparently touchscreen phones that do so much, ie. bluetooth and wifi, eat batteries.

Wow, I am very surprised to hear some of these. First of all, are you sure that using the usb charger kills your battery capacity so fast? I mean, I almost always charge my phone with the usb charger and it seems to be quite fine. Of course once in a while I charge it with the wall charger when I am in a hurry. But I was thinking that charging it with the usb will be better as it charges slowly.
Also I usually keep my phone plugged to the usb. Indeed, I already ordered a desktop cradle so that I can see the screen while it is being charged. Is it a bad idea to keep it cradled all the time? This is what I did with my Dell Axim all the time and it was quite happy with it.
The process of charging/draining modern batteries won't shorten their lifespans. However, having a chargable battery at full charge or at no charge are both bad and both will reduce the lifespan of the battery.
So no, you shouldn't leave it plugged in/cradled all the time.
The problem with trickle chargers is altogether different. They just won't always charge a battery to its full capacity -- so in this way they are actually better for long-term battery health. This is why I said that if you want to get a full charge off of a trickle charger, you have to (usually) take it off the charger and put it back on when the device reports that it is fully charged. After unplugging the trickle-charger you'll get a new battery reading on the device which will usually be anywhere between 60% and 90%. You can then put it back on the charger until it shows full again.
Deleted, invalid, i didnt read the whole post.
Well, it seems that i was just unlucky with my buy. Thanks to all of you first of all for all your support it really did help me learn more about PPC's in general, and it also made me sure that there is a problem with the phone. I sat through what i like to call a debugging session, just following the phone's every "move". I know, sounds kinda crazy but i was just that determined. What i realised was that whether i performed the soft-reset or not, it still had a problem, even though the solution did sound very promising.
This is what happened, charged it to 100%. I also tried charging it a little more later, but that was it, so i'm pretty sure that the capacity was right. After detaching it i performed the softreset, hoping that it would help. Then i just left it over night on flight mode. Next morning it had only decreased to 90%. GREAT! And it felt rather normal, but then about an hour later, it jumped down to 80%, 70%, 60%, then 50%. Then when I held it, it felt pretty hot, i figured that whatever was the problem earlier, just happened again. So I turned it off for a few hours then turned it on again and it started off on 40%. As before seemed to be performing quite normal, then within a minute it heated up again and jumped down to 20%. And that was when i just lost my nerve and packed it to send it back to my retailer.
I am now convinced that the phone is faulty!
Yes, it very well might be.
My device has drained suddenly a few times, with the exact same heat problems that you're describing when it happens. A soft reset for me when this occured fixed it -- and it hasn't happened for months.
But as we all know the same solutions don't work for all people with HTC devices.
I just had the same sort of problem. I've been using my TyTN for several months now under Dutty's WM6, and only just flashed Schaps 3.60 a few days ago.
It worked fine the first couple of days, but now I'm having the dreaded 5hr battery life too.
I had had that a couple of times before, but it was always related to some software, and a soft reset would cure it like Doom Tints said above. The problem is that here, either this or a power-off and reboot doesn't change a thing.
It's clearly a software problem too. I use UpTime Meter from AE, and I can see that the PocketPC simply doesn't turn into standby mode, but only deactivates the screen. In UpTime, the power on time will always be equal to the time since last charge, which means the PocketPC is on all the time. In that case the 5h battery life makes sense.
Would there be a way to find out why it doesn't enter standby mode (which software blocks it up), or force it into it? It would be good to find something as I'm nearly sure this is the reason for most if not all of the cases of short battery life we see around. Without having the meter there's simply no way to realise that the thing just stays on...

Since I had my hermes, a few times it would get very hot and discharge the battery, and I assumed I was turning it on in my pocket and running a program. But now it does this continually. As soon as I take it off the charger it discharges and gets hot. This even happens if the phone is powered off.
I have borrowed a battery of someone else and the same thing happens
I have also hard reset it and have nothing installed extra, so it can not be software problem.
Must be a short circuit inside the phone? Does anyone have any ideas? I can't send it back as it is a Cingular and I live in the UK and have no support contract.
Thanks,
Mark
I managed to investigate and find the culprit - A2DP Toggle in my case. Whenever its Today plugin is enabled, it will prevent the phone from entering standby. Deactivate it - no uninstallation needed - and it returns to normal. Weird as it had been working perfectly for about a week, and I haven't done any change when it started acting weird.
Now it kinda defeats the plugin's purpose if I have to deactivate it everytime...
@simkin: If it drains the battery even powered off completely that's most likely a hardware problem. Does it happen too if you remove the battery and put it again without turning the phone on (as opposed to having the phone on and turning it off with a long press on the the power button)?
There could be a slight chance that the phone actually starts booting and gets stuck there draining power. As a last solution I'd try flashing it with a different ROM, but if that fails it's most likely a hardware fault.
I'm having battery trouble too, I switched to WM6 with a full battery that lasted for about 24 hours and it became 7-8 hours, so I switched back to my previous ROM and Radio ver and it still says I only get 7-8 hours average, I'm gonna try to hard reset it on more time, and then i'm just gonna try a new battery.

Long Battery charging time and potential memory effect

hi,
I have the problem, that if I charge the battery from near empty state, that it requires 4-5 hours to charge with the ac adapter and if i charge it via usb it needs 910 hours. The issue is, I am not at the same place the whole time,
so sometimes I need it to unplugged, before the battery is full, so this may quicken a potential memory effect. How do you handle the battery charging?
do you charge it before it gets empty or do you unplug before its full?
Did you find a way to charge it faster?
cheers Avalun

Always charge your device switched off if possible. This makes the charging time shorter and helps the battery to "calibrate".
If phone on, make sure screen is off. Also helps.
Your phone will always take longer to charge while synced through USB.
Try and let the phone completely drain before charging it. This should increase battery length.
hi,
I usually plug it on when the message of critical battery level appears, the problem if I switch the device off is, that no one can call me during this time.
How long does your HD need to charge from near empty to full?

To fully charge from empty it normally takes a couple hours.
Generally I always charge my phone at night and have it sync'd via USB during the day so it rarely gets below 75%
There has been previous threads regarding battery strength, charging etc.
Try typing battery into search this forum at top of page.
Hope this helps
hi,
thanks for the answer I already read many other battery threads here, they are all about battery draining, not charging time.
So I thought I just ask, what other peoples have to say about this.
As I see the charing time is normal so thanks for the answer.

How to set Legend to not charge while it is connected to USB port?

Hi, do you have any workaround how to set my Legend to not charge the battery while it is connected to PC's USB port?
When I want only to transfer some files to SD card and plug the device into USB, it starts to charge. It is very important for me because it continuously damages battery if this happens several times only for some minutes. In Windows mobile there is a great option to not charge when device is connected to USB. I hope there is an option to do this also on android.

Hmm, on the hand way I am pretty sure that it harms the battery ... 1minute chargings are not good for battery...
I am also certain it DOSEN't damage the batteries...
However.. There are several reasons to disable charging when connection to a PC.
For instance, using a USB hub without additional powers, the drain the phone will put on the hub, will make the rest of the stuff connected to it stop working.
Or simply just to preserve the batteries when using a laptop. The batteries on laptop is bad enough as it is, so no need to put more drain on them...

*replace ! with .
Lithium-based batteries (like those used in basically every single mobile phone now) love to be topped up constantly. In fact, they suffer permanent damage to the lifetime of the battery if they are ever empty. Don't worry about charging them for a few seconds are a few hours, as long as you don't let them go flat.
Lithium batteries will only work best for a few years from the day they are manufactured (not their sale date, by the way). You'll notice if you have an old mobile phone or iPod that they'll start to run low faster and faster the older they get. This is just a consequence of the chemicals they are made of. It's also why some people refuse to buy Lithium-powered devices that don't make it easy to replace the battery (like iPods, for example).
Also, Lithium batteries don't hold their full capacity right away. They have to be charged for 300% of their capacity for them to be running at peak, although you do not need to do this all at once. This is why some devices come with advice that you discharge them completely a few times right at the beginning. I never do this, because as I advised earlier you do not want to let them go flat. Instead, I charge it up to 100%, use the device down to 50%, charge back to 100%, over and over, since each of those charging sessions contributes to the total 300% necessary.
Nickel-Cadmium batteries were the old sort of rechargeable batteries used in other sorts of devices (toys, remote controls, etc). The best care advice for them is to leave them in the charger until they are needed, and use them until they are completely flat before charging again.

Strange charging issue with all windows phone roms

Hi guys I have been facing a strange issue whenever I install any windows phone 7 rom no matter what i do the phone refuses to charge using a usb cable or charger if i go back to android same usb and charger work fine for charging please advise
i noticed that too. on my pc it charges either VERY slow or not at all. because i left my hd2 on usb for 2 hours. it was only halfway full. i though i was going crazy good thing im not the only one who noticed this.
on the wall adapter it charges fine.
For me the above mentioned issue exists on all the roms
I think i found a workaround for people having issues while usb charging on wp7
This a bit of a hassle and has to be done everytime u see that the phone is not charging via usb
uninstall the driver for windows phone device from device manager and then connect the phone it will reinstall the driver and the led will turn red if it blinks that means its not charging
If anyone has this issue and needs detailed steps please let me know

I have never heard nor experienced the phone not charging on WP7 on USB. The HD2 takes longer than 2 hours for a full charge if it's at a point of total discharge or close to it. Even on WM 6.5 the HD2 usually takes about 3-4 hrs to fully charge after near total discharge.
Secondly, a blinking LED during charge (whether PC or wall) means your battery and phone are overheated. Overheating happens if you are using the phone while plugged in. Even if blinking it is still charging. Best to unplug until cool..then keep charging and not use the phone.
Buy a second battery and external charger.

Wow thanks a ton for the info
but i have a question if i connect the phone to usb the battery blinks and while connected the battery tool shows battery getting drained as well at the top the battery icon shows that the phone is charging. and then if I immeadeatly connect it to the wall charger the blinking goes away and battery tool shows charging active so what can be the issue any help would be appreciated
Also i have tried almost all windows phone 7 roms and my normal drain is -300 to -500 have tried rom with 5.51 and 5.12.50_02 radio as well along with the camera trick still the battery drain is high
Yesterday i installed wm6.5
task 29
install magldr
clear sd mbr
use last 24 nand
install wp7
booted and did camera trick
entered flight mode
still the drain is -150
I love WP7 and dont wish to go back to android sorry for the long post please help
WP on our Leo doesn't have a clue what its doing with the battery, its been an issue from the start.
best bet to get the most out of your device is to get yourself an external charger and spare battery.
even if you do get it charging via USB or the wall adaptor, it might not charge up the device, it might say its full but is only half full, or it might say it half full and its actually full.
UP! Your advice to bring with me to anywhere a package of batteries?? Jesus Christ, I can't believe that nobody cares much about this problem from devs, otherwise there is no point to make a new rom every single day.

I really don't think its a "nobody cares" situation. We can be pretty confident that if a solution was at all possible it would have been found and implemented by now. The devs do a great job and i for one am blown away by the roms they produce and offer to to us free.
Every smart phone on the market has battery life issues which tells us even the manufacturers cant really get a grip on the issue either.
You could always hack a li poly bat to fit the HD2, of course that's only if you accept the risk it might swell up and catch fire while charging
i dont think kicking the devs and other forum members will make you many freinds.
Good luck

its not about not caring, there are two issues at hand.
the first one is the phone wont charge when turned off, this might be fixable.
the big one is the battery controller, a battery in a phone has a small IC that controls the charge, temps, stats etc. The issue I believe is that the driver which WP users to control the battery controller isn't designed for our device.
The HD2 is similar to the HD7 but it is not the same. The issues we have with it are likely because the driver is either for another device or a basic test driver put together to "make do"
creating a driver isn't a matter of slapping a few files together. So your choices are to
A, give up on the HD2 WP7
B, Make do with what you have
C, Grab a spare battery and external charger
D, Fix the issue yourself, given that some of the most talented folk on here hasn't done this yet suggests this wont be easy!
Flashed 2.12 radio, can't say it's good now, but much better than was with 2.15. I think 2.12 + new battery with bigger capacity (2300) = pretty good solution for now.

except your 2300mAh battery probably wont work at all.
Theres been reported issues with extended batteries either A not working or B having issues, such as only charging part of it.

If your phone shows only a half charged battery icon after charging for the full few hours, shutdown the phone and reboot. Doing this shows the correct icon and can confirm via battery status app or battery tool app.
The thing is when you flash a new ROM, it takes the battery, phone, and WP a couple of charge/discharge cycles to get sync'd up and show the proper charges. The key is to let the battery drain until close to total discharge (don't let the phone shut off because of battery or you'll be hosed) then charge a couple of cycles.
Getting a spare battery and external charger is always a good suggestion no matter what.
Yes, restarts are always handy to get full charge, if you do kill your battery so you can't boot to windows, try put phone in bootloader, or magldr, it will charge in there, give it 20 min and windows will boot just fine

Phone refuses to connect to PC

Hello,
I have been trying to connect my S10 Plus to my Laptop for a while now, but to no avail. It just keeps showing the charging logo on phone then it goes away and comes back right away over and over again.
What I have tried:
- Cleaned lint from port
- Reinstalled USB drivers from device manager ( and in safe mode as well)
- Reinstalled Samsung drivers
- Tried a different cable ( Samsung Original)
- Tried a Cheap 1$ cable
- Tried to clear Cache from recovery
- Tried the power option for USB in Windows 10 ( Selective suspend setting)
- Tried different USB ports
So, if someone knows a workaround for this problem, please do help me
PS. phone no longer shows fast charging after one UI 3.0
Thank you
Had the same problem on my Mac a week ago. Started up my pc and got the same problem. No matter what I did it didnt connect. I activated developerfunctions and then turned on USB Debug and turned it of a couple of times while connected to the PC. Suddenly it worked and has since then

This is a better pathway to use.
Open up Disc Management, hit rescan drives.
All connected drive should be shown and are directly accessible from here.

Thanks for the info.
Doesn't show up there at all.
Something weird happened for like 10 minutes and it was back to normal and could fast charge, but then it stopped. Seems to be something wrong with One UI 3.0

Did you try the rescan option? Unplug the phone and try again. Check phone for the permission to connect popup on it's homepage; without that being granted with each connection the PC can't see the drive.
Any errors showing in event manager?
Try battery recalibration if you normally don't charge to 100%. Allow to discharge to auto shutdown, charge to 100% and leave it on charger for another 2 hours after at 100%. Repeat.
Apparently if out of calibration it can cause erratic fast charging. Over time with partial charge cycles calibration is lost.
Saw this on my 10+
Fast charging varies throughout the charge cycle depending on battery temp and charge level.
Fast charging will not enable if battery is too cold, if so will continue slow charging even if battery warms up during the charge cycle (they may have corrected this).
Fast charging will not engage if temperature is too high; it will disengage around 100°F
Charging is an electrochemical reaction so for optimum charging sufficient temperature is necessary. Charging below 72°F Li plating can occur which will permanently degrade the cell.
Ideal battery temp is 82-90°F at start of charge cycle. Try to keep it from going over 99°F or under 85F during the charge cycle.

Thank you much for being helpful.
I usually charge it when it is 40 and only let it go up to 92 max.
Will try recalibrating the battery. Hopefully, this works.
purchased new, qualcomm, i run down to 15-20, then to 100% fast charging, 3.0/a11.

Sorry for taking too long to answer, calibrating took much time x.x
Now, it connects to pc on one side only which is nice xD
The other side says check your charger connection. I guess some copper pins are shorted out or broken IDK
Thank you so much for helping

Sometimes temperatures and humidity can lead to such a thing, if it's not just a broken port. Do try the things people and I mentioned above, might just work for u.
