Notification Led - Xperia Z1 General

Hello,i would like to ask if it's possible to increase the brightness of notification led...??? Because the notif. led is inside the phone and sometimes i can't see it.
Thanks.

Seconded, this would be a worthwhile thing to know. The LED on the Z1 is appalling compared to the one on the Z.

LEDs on my Z1s are really bright.

The Z1S LED is not in the same place as the Z1. IIRC the Z1S LED is where the front camera used to be on the Z1. With the Z1, it is inside where the ear speaker is.

My Z1 (6902) LED is pretty bright, no problem seeing it in direct sunlight, even the white color, then again Im comparing it to a Nexus 4, which is pretty dim.

U right. Mine is not bright. Too

Xperia Z display shows terrible black clipping with firmwares .253+
Sony tried to show us an illusion of better black levels after .253 update, but black levels are exactly the same as before .253. Terrible black clipping is now showing us an illusion of better black, but all they really did with new screen calibration is that all near black levels are completely black and there is no detail in black scenes. Everything is just black.

looks fine to me as long as your looking at it straight on. the xz doesnt have the best viewing angles as we already know but i think the screen is pretty damn good. there is really only one phone that has a better screen imo and it is the htc one. use a rom that has more of a dark theme if is the white that bothers you

I think the colors are ok, but the screen technology is absolute [email protected]! You can easy see the backlit lighting through the screen edges, and that is in my opinion, the couse for poor viewing angles! The light makes white shade over the screen. Too bad, Xperia Ultra is obviously same technology, as we can see from the reviews! Shame on you Sony! These could been the really outstanding devices!

Notification Light....

Can't we get a representative from Sony to tell us what the deal is with the notification light. It's hard to believe that they downgraded the phone to a small little notification light on the upper left hand corner. Is there an additional notification light integrated into to upper middle speaker like the Z1C? This is a major selling point for me before ordering.
And you should have seen Xperia ZR notification light, it's awesome! The mysterious stripe inserted in the bottom part which you cannot even see if it's not lit. It's the only thing I'm sorry about upgrading to the Xperia z3 compact.

I can only assume that is is done to get a better speaker sound.
It is only a presumption.
Standard LED notification is OK - the notification in Xperia ZL/ZR is great but the notification in Z1C was the best and a great idea from sony. What a shame that they don´t use it in the Z3C.
But the speaker sound from Z3C compared to the Z1C is awesome! You will not be disappointed! If this is the reason why they have changed it, then I prefer the better sound instead of the notification LED.

I talked to xperia tech support today and they said the Z3 has the light bar notification above the sony logo and the small round notification to the upper left of the phone for charging only. They said that the Z3 compact will be the same. This is Awesome!!!!!! Now what color to pick. The black or the red/orange? I am concerned the black will show too much fingerprints.

Seems like sony is trolling us :silly:
Would be too good to be true. However, above the Sony logo there's the earpiece and I find it hard to even spot enough space for an addl. light bar for notifications. Further, if it exists, why would they put the confirmed small LED anyways?
Really loved my U and the SP for the real notification bar. M and ZL are also still fine, yet not on par with the aforementioned. Hope Sony would include that feature again in later/future designs.

Nope, the tech support personnel was wrong. I had tested it and there is only one small round notification light on the left side. Even I ran the diagnostics tests to check for notification and only this light lit up with different colors.
I have no problem with this because the notification from the Z1c wasn't good see. I agree that the position in the speaker made the notification light pretty but that doesn't help if I can't see if it is blinking or not.
Therefore I'm fine with a single LED like at the Xperia S and Acro S.
I miss the notification light from the Xperia ZL though...this one was awesome.

Since I have opened my Z1C phone because I hard bricked them, I must share my opinion... I had hard time fixing water prof since microphone part of plastic on Z1 Compact was b.s. and I was unable to secure waterprof on these side since it was not diht corectly, now I think led and microphone thing on Z3C is better for sure than Z1C since it diht better now! Allso I think led is looking better on Z3C, I giving 5 points to Sony for new led and microphone side

I dont know why you needed a sony representative to tell you about the Led Notifcation when its visbile.
The Led is on the leftside of the phone.
Theres no light bar at all period.
Hardly a deal breaker, at least you got one.
You've been lied to every review that mentions it says its in the left corner, even though you can already see it is in the videos...:good:. As with the Z3...

I'm not sure why you are so rude. I got some wrong information and there could have been a possibility of there being two lights based on the design of the prior models.
It would be awesome if in a future model they could use that translucent rim material to make the entire rim (on all 4 sides) one badass unmissable 360 degree notification light!
I also don't understand the reviewer who said "not too bright" as a good thing (unless during charging). For notification usages it can't be bright enough! I would go further as I also miss that old notification beep sound that old Motorola feature phones used to do if you missed a call (a short and sharp ping sound every 10 mins). Anyone know an app that adds that feature?

[MotoX] [2014] Purple Display at Low Brightness [Lollipop] [Amoled]

Okay so I bought a new Moto X (2014) last week In India. Everything about the phone is great. It was already on lollipop. But when I decrease the brightness to below 30-40% the display gradually becomes more and more purple. And with Adaptive Brightness on and in a dark room, it's so purple that the green and yellow shades appear grey or black. I know amoled panels have this problem at very low brightness and apparently many Nexys 6 users are also facing it. However I didn't see many complaints here in the Moto X forum.
So if you have this problem please vote in the poll above. Then I can ask them for a replacement. Thank you.
I'd later add some photos of the screen.
P.S. If you are experiencing this, please add some photos so that people can compare it with their displays.
ok i have this problem too, but when I'm in the bed and reading random news this purple display isn't disturbing me. i can feel it relax more my eyes. so i can say i take advantage from a bug
I don't think this is a bug, way easier on the eyes in the dark, perhaps some kind of a feature on AMOLED and Lollipop. The Nexus 6 has it, too, i think.
I don't know if anyone else noticed that in direct sun light, the screen goes extra bright - like indoor bright + boost?
This is not a feature. It's an issue with amoled displays. That's why Samsung limits the lowest brightness to a higher level. While Moto X seems to go way down. I just want to know if everyone's having this. Then it's okay. But if it's not everyone then there're some good amoled panels out there and we are getting the bad ones.
Yup, keep noticing this before the screen goes completely off.
It's not a "bug" with AMOLED displays, it's inherent to the way the displays work. Red LEDs use much less power than other colors so when the brightness is down low the displays looks like it has a slightly red tint to it. While Samsung does keep their best displays for themselves the lack of a red tint is not due to that but is instead due to not letting the brightness go as low on their displays.

That's what I meant. Not quite the best choice of word, I guess. But if that was the case, everyone should have had the pink tint at low brightness. Do you mean the ones who are not getting it are either lying or have Moto X's with LCD panels?

Well, only 2 out of 11 people have reported no color distortion. And remember that while you're asking "Is there a purple tint?" they're answering the question "Have you noticed a purple tint?"
What I've noticed is that when Adaptive Brightness is on, the display gets super dark and causes the purple tint. When I turn Adaptive Brightness off in a dark room, it actually completely loses the purple tint, and compared to my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at lowest brightness, the screen is brighter than the Tab S. So I guess Motorola hasn't caught up with Samsung's display technology since my Tab S can actually get dimmer without such a dramatic color distortion - for my Moto X to get to a brightness level that dim, I need to turn on Adaptive Brightness (thus with the purple tint).
.
I wouldn't say it gets a Purple tint but rather a reddish one with adaptive light.
And I LOVE it. This way I don't have to install Lumen.CF or any other stuff. Way easier on the eyes at night and it gets reeeeeeaally dark. Just perfect!
I also love that it naturally has a lower white temperature point than other lcd/phones screens. Warmer white is cozy white.
7 votes for without purple/red tint.
People who are not seeing the tint, can you please upload a side by side photo of "your phone at lowest brightness with the adjustment bar visible" and "a white paper".

I voted for no color distortion as my display is very very good. I can tell you there is certainly a variation in displays. A few months back someone posted about being able to see color banding and such. Those of us with really good displays do not see that. I was going to order a Pure edition to replace my unlocked XT1097 but the display is so good on it I decided not to, I doubt another one will be as good. I had 5 different Moto X 2013 models and the displays varied on each of them as well. I kept the best one and my 2014 model is still quite a bit better then the best 2013 I had.

The rest of the phone in my case feels pretty solid and well built. Also I'm getting 47k+ scores on Antutu. Hence I am having second thoughts about getting it replaced.
My PE doesn't turn purple and has better whites than my AT&T branded one. The screen on that one is awful to me but I also use a G2, iPhone 6, '13 N7, no one notices but me.

Indeed, when adaptative brightness is turned off, purple tint will not occur. However, I am not sure this is a "feature". It actually looks more like a poor implementation of auto brightness.

Camera Flash is not white LED, its yellowish dull LED!!

Hi,
Not sure if its just me, however, I tried taking a few photos in full darkness with flash on or even in low light. I realized that the flash was very dull and did not produce sharp photos as should happen when the flash is on. This phone has dual LED flash and I can still say that my Galaxy S3 with single LED flash had a better performance and produced really good photos with flash on.
The problem I see here is that the flash is kinda yellow in color while S3 had a pure white flash and that too extremely bright, however, with N6P thats not the case. Has anyone else noticed the same and is there a possible fix for the same ?
I agree, it's not that bright...
The flash on the Nexus 4 is also brighter than this one.

Yes, infact all other phones have a white light flash while this one has a yellowish flash. Even if you're using it as a flash light its evident. This is really depressing to see on an overall excellent phone, though my phone too has that ghoulish yellowish tint, but I've learned to live with it.
I agree, the LEDs are not as bright. My Nexus 5 ( 2013 ) has a stronger LED with a cold white tone while the Nexus 6p is not as bright and has indeed a warm-white tint. It´s not a huge problem though since I don´t use my phone as a torch light.
I believe when I first got it I had used it as a flashlight in a dark bedroom. When I was near the wall I could see that the two LEDs looks like they were different colors. One appeared more yellow while the other was more white. I assumed it had to do with balancing out the flash or something. I didn't really pay much attention to it because I take very few photos with flash.
The Nexus 6P (like many newer phones) has a dual LED flash. One LED is a warm white, while the other is cool white. When taking a photo, the two lights are mixed to create a color balance the camera deems appropriate to the scene. When using the flashlight it just turns them both on at a fixed brightness, resulting in a warm-ish colored light.
I really *don't* like this - there should be an option to just have the cool BRIGHT led activate when the tourch function is used

Very common on LCD panel screen. My first two V20 got it, just different corner.

Don't have it there but I have it along the top side of the screen but it doesn't look that bad.
I believe that is just the nature of design. I've read elsewhere that light bleed is almost impossible to avoid 100% with IPS displays.
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
Mine doesn't have that but it does have a screen that isn't uniform. The bottom of the screen right above the navigation bar has a warm tint to it making it look sort of yellow compared to the rest of the screen. I'm returning it. I can't look at a screen that isn't uniform. The AOD looks fine though. If the replacement I get has the light bleed on the AOD I'll be returning it.
It's not a light bleed.
It's a special LED only lightning up, when AOD display is enabled.
When seen at 0 LUX your eyes will see it lightning up from bottom. This way the phone won't use the full backlight of the display to only light up at night. It's a side effect from not having AMOLED display.

I am not sure if this is from the lighting zones on HDR displays, or if LG implemented extra leds at the bottom of the display just for the AOD. Pretty nifty trick to get low light and power consumption on an IPS panel.
The light streak effect that looks like light bleed is due to light falloff as it moves from the bottom LED through the diffuser behind the LCD. So nothing wrong with your displays.
If you want to test light bleed; open a full screen black image in a very dark room. My screen lighting was perfectly even.
mine is exact the same. glad that im not the only one i was ready to send it back lol
