Xposed modules won't install - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All,
I apologize if this is a noob/repeated question..
I'm using an s4 with MJ7 on it. I have the latest version of xposed installer, and I have been able to install modules in the past, without problems. Now, whenever I try to install, I get the menu prompt but the install button won't work. I've tried installing via chrome, and within the closed installer. The problem is as if the button doesn't activate the action.
Thanks for your help,
Alex

You seem to be running a screen-overlay (probably dimming) app. Disable that, after that the Install button will be available again.

Yeah, I am using twilight. You were right, download button works again. Thanks!

SOLUTION
Nothing happens when you press install?
Its waiting for your root permission. Somethings wrong with your supersu or superuser. Reinstall it then try again.

He was offering a different suggestion in case the first suggestion didn't work for somebody else. I for one apprecieate the effort because I"m not running a screen dimming overlay. Thanks to that suggestion, I went in to my SU app and forgot Xposed. I rebooted and now the install buttons work.

Random and soft reboots

Hi all. Tried searching for this for a long time now with no luck. Can you imagine how many posts there are with those words in them? Ugh!!
First of all, random reboots. My s4 will reboot as stated...randomly. No rhyme or reason to it. It can just be laying there idle and out of nowhere...REBOOT. I'm on 4.3 mk2 if that helps.
Now the soft reboot. Or hot boot as I've also seen it called. Specifically related to xposed and associated modules. Or in my case, ALL modules. If I do a soft reboot everything runs perfectly. No problem at all. But a full reboot? Nothing xposed related runs. Not framework or modules. Of course the framework has to run for the modules to work. Is this normal? Does xposed only run after a soft reboot? From my searches on the net I'm inclined to say no. But I don't know for sure.
So there you go. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Soft reboot is no longer an issue. But the randoms are. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Xposed is always running. Are you just rooted or on a custom SafeStrap rom. Has it done this before Xposed, or when did it start? Before/After rooting.
I would:
1. Uninstall/Delete Xposed and all Modules and see what happens. Do reboot clearing all caches if your recovery supports that.
2. Reinstall Xposed fresh thru the apk, and add one Module at a time. Wait and see for a day or two on that one Module.
3. On mk2 you can't change kernels anyway. AFAIK, since new things keep coming out with SafeStrap etc. And I don't keep up.
4. Could always be Hardware--
5. Could Odin back to stock and start over. BackUp Cards first. Or even try reformatting cards.
Just throwing out options--:good:
Hope you get it sorted--
Thanks for the info rugmankc!! A good bunch of suggestions for me to try. To answer your questions, My phone is rooted stock with safestrap. No custom rom. I rooted my phone within days of having it so no way for me to remember if it randomly rebooted before root. Same with xposed. Can't remember when I put it on there to know if it did it before. But my issues with xposed modules and soft booting have been solved. It's just the random reboots giving me a headache. But I'll give your ideas a go and see what happens.

SM-G901F Need help! "Rooted", but not....

I'm at a loss at the moment guys, I've rooted my s5 with cf-autoroot, everything seemed successful, but apps that require root tell me I need root permissions and need to root my phone...
I've got supersu and can grant permissions when needed, but this does nothing. I've checked root with rootchecker and it says I'm rooted.. Am I missing something really obvious? I've looked around and can't find anything.
If anybody could please help me I'd highly appreciate it!
(Sorry if this was a messy post, I don't tend to post often)
You might try running chainfire again and see if that helps.

You could try powering down the phone, pull the battery and wait 20 seconds. then boot into downloadmode and reflash CF Auto Root and reboot.
I would go with gee's recommendation.

[How-To] Install Xposed Firmware without Custom Recovery

Now that we have Root, we have access to many more things, one being Xposed. Xposed is a firmware that lets you customize your device even more than with root alone.
This guide has been adapted from this guide: http://www.andromods.com/apps-mod/easy-install-lollipop-xposed-framework-without-twrp-cwm-recovery.html
Download the xposed files from here: Latest Lollipop ARM Xposed and Material Design Xposed App (Unofficial)
Sign up for beta for FlashFire here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash
Download FlashFire
Grant superuser to FlashFire
Press the "+" in the bottom right corner.
Choose “Flash ZIP or OTA” menu, and keep the “Auto-mount” option unchecked then tap checkmark icon to continue.
Choose the zip you downloaded.
Press the lightning button to start
Wait for it to finish and reboot
Install the apk.
Profit
Hope that helps!
Reserved for modules that work.

I've got the YouTube ad away, Google play store changelog, boot manager, YouTube background playback.
All working. Need to try greenify, gravitybox, wanam exposed, but fear incompatibility...
This is great for Swype enhancements, to replace that awful amazon keyboard, and for Pandora Patcher.
Thanks

How do you replaced the keyboard?
It worked great, took a bit to install though, it displayed Fire installing update for a bit but that's normal, anyways the guide worked perfectly.

You can replace the keyboard on a stock Fire without root the same way you do on any other device: Install the new keyboard and then set it to default in the input settings. In fact, installing Google Keyboard was one of the first things I did.

Gravitybox LP works for most things, and on the things it does not work on, those don't brick the device. I think Gravitybox is safe to use. Haven't tried Wanam Exposed or Greenify.
Just to Inform
Installed MinMinGuard and it Works....
can anyone try APM+ if it works? I didn't root the tab yet but planning on to later.

It does not, as the tablet does not have a power menu, just a Shut Down script. APM+ will work when we get custom ROMs.

I have root but there's no SuperSU app installed?

Anyone on a rooted 6p seeing this? I unlocked this phone, installed TWRP, and then installed the N6PanglerM ROM. When an app request root, I see the box appear and I can grant or deny, same as always. But in my app drawer, there is no listing for SuperSU. When I go to the Play store and look at SuperSU, it says installed but the Open and Uninstall buttons are both missing.
Anyone have this same issue? Or know how I can get the SuperSU app to be visible?

No CM13 Root Option? (Solved)

I'm on CM13, I was rooted and everything. I had SuperSU installed also. But upon realizing that I didn't need it because CM13 had a root permission manager built in, I uninstalled it. Upon rebooting there is now no option to root in developer settings except through ADB and I'm no longer rooted. Is there anyway to fix this without reinstalling the OS and starting from scratch?

You are rooted, CM comes prerooted. Did you turn on the cm root manager in settings?
Additionally, SuperSU is much better than cm manager, you really should use it.

I did have CM root manager and root enabled in developer settings, but then the option went away and my apps are telling me I'm not rooted. I only have the option to enable root through ADB, as seen in the attached screenshot.

1) stop cross posting
2) you have 2 options. Reflash the Rom and hope it fixes whatever you did to bork it. Or install supersu like you should do anyway.

Sorry, I've been desperate.
I'll look to see if there are any new nightlies and flash them or reflash the one I'm on. Reinstalling SuperSU fixed nothing, although it works. A lot of my root apps (ES file explorer, SELinux mode changer) are still telling me I don't have root, although SuperSU granted them root permission.
