[Q] Halo from the bottom like pie? - General Paranoid Android Discussion

not sure if this is the place to post this...
I really love halo but i find it to be in the way a lot. I was thinking launching halo in the same manner as pie, instead of pie, from the bottom, would be a great way to implement it. is there any chance of this becoming an option? thanks for all of your hard work! really appreciate it!

Jelly Bean CM10 Lockscreen gestures

Hi,
Does CM10 or CM9 support lockscreen gestures? I can't find anything about it in the FAQ or the description of the ROMs.
I'm wondering why this question has not been asked more often... In my opinion this is one of the best features- I can turn on the flashlight drawing an "L" while my mobile is still in my pocket!
Another thing is the permission management. Is it possible to block some permissions for an app in CM9 or CM10 ???
I'm still on CM7 but would like to switch to JB as soon as I know whether those features are available in CM9 or CM10.
Thank you,
Greetings
Haven't seen this so far, but i will also keep on searching. If i find any helpful stuff i will post it immediately in this thread.

I'm really hoping that the lockscreen gestures come back...
Am I the only one who is thinking that this feature is so important?
Nope u arn't alone I also think so
Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app
i too think that lockscreen gestures is one of the best features of cm7, but i wouldnt get my hopes up regarding it being ported to cm10 as one half of the screen is taken by the unlocker 'slide', and the other is by music control. remember in cm7 the music control was 3 little buttons at the bottom and there was plenty of room for drawing the gestures. i have no idea how it could be solved now :/
Man I was hoping this was already available!
I never used cm7 by myself cause i have an st15i and when i found out about cm the newest version was cm9 so i used that one. I was surely cool to have gestures on the lockscreen and i cant wait for it to be ported (somehow). Google gesture search is like the cm gestures just not on the lock screen but works exactly like cm version.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
I really miss this feature. Hopefully lockscreen gestures will be implemented in CM10 eventually, but in the meanwhile, the "Gesture Lock" app seems to be a close approximation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.whacked.gesturelock&hl=en

I'm using this right now, but it has some faults.
1) no sensitivity control like CM7. So, a curved line pretty much runs the same gesture as a straight line. Without sensitivity control, you are very limited to the gestures you can use unless they are uniquely intricate.
2) The giant clock. I hate this clock on the bottom of the screen. I have a lock screen image I use that displays owner info and some other important info. The clock takes up a large portion of the screen and makes it hard to fit. Besides, the status bar has a clock, so it's pretty much just double displaying info I don't need. I would be willing to pay the developer to add a hide clock option, but next item rules out that option.
3) The developer isn't working on it any more. I've emailed him to ask some questions and he said he's pretty much too busy to do anything with it, so don't expect any updates or improvements.
4) No shortcut ability, other than launching apps. CM7's gestures would let you set a gesture to run things like direct dial a number, toggle sound, turn on flashlight. Gesture lock can only launch apps. While this is a let down, I have found a solution to the problem by using Tasker. Takser now has the App Factory which lets you create an app for anything Tasker can do, which is pretty much anything. So, I've created a few apps like toggle flashlight, which unlocks pattern lock, toggles Tesla LED, then locks the device again. Essentially, it toggles the flashlight pretty much the same as CM7 did. I've also made a couple direct dial apps that work similarly to dial a phone number and relock the screen.
5) No way to choose the color of the gesture trail or disable trails. I loved that I could hide the gesture trails because I made my lock screen look like a regular lock screen with a slide to unlock graphic. If you didn't know the gesture to unlock the phone, you would think the screen is frozen because the slide was just an image that didn't move! With Gesture Lock, you can see the yellow trails and it gives away everything.
Overall, it's a decent app, but nothing close to the CM7 gesture settings. I will forever miss it if it never comes to CM10. I'll probably also never use CM10 if this feature doesn't get added because I am perfectly happy with stock JB as it is now. I've got a ridiculous battery life on my Razr Maxx HD, so I don't really need to save battery, which was my man reason for switching to CM7 in the first place. I wonder if enough of us request it with a donation if it might happen. Anyone else interested enough to donate for it?

I just found another alternative: an app called Gestos, available free on the Google Play.
It's a really nice gesture app with lots of options, including a gesture lockscreen that works well. Unfortunately, the custom lockscreen includes an ugly clock that I don't like, but the gestures work well.
The app also has a thread on XDA.

[Q] Confusion! PA/PACman/Rootbox/Revolt Differences

I just flash all of these roms today to verify, and I'm sure everyone has noticed but why does PA/PACman missing sooooo many options than Rootbox/Revolt?
-Alternate toggles setup which is missing the "favorite user" option and is not user friendly
-Lacking customization for pie options
-No option for Navbar/status bar transparency
Its really confusing because RootBox and Revolt roms have all the options that every rom on this thread have accept one thing.....PA. Which means there is no options to use hybrid options/colorPAoptions/PAdpi Settings, etc.
Its really confusing why there are two very distinct bases that Devs are using for roms,is there a reason why these differences can't be combined? Does anyone know if there will every be a rom that runs that same base as Rootbox/Revolt but have PA?
Yes, I usually avoid these types of post, but gosh does this not bother anyone else?
well theres toggle customization, thanks to cm,
theres customization for pie,
and theres options for bar colors including alpha that naturally go beyond anything else because of hybrid
but still - we're trying to keep things simple and minimal. thats our direction. if rootbox or revolt wants to go another way thats their choice.
i just personally do not enjoy roms that are heavy with options, i dont think thats a good thing and it conflicts with android which is still whats making 99% of the whole.
as for pie, i want something thats quick and easy to navigate. i dont want quick access everywhere i lay my finger on you know? like ... you switch on phone, theres shortcut options, shortcuts in your navbar, shortcuts on your google now circle, shortcuts in your notificationpanel, shortcuts in your togglepanel, shortcuts clenched on poor pie-in the worst case via multirow, shortcuts here shortcuts there. who'd like such a frankenstein of a rom? i sure dont. and if theres roms that truly cater to those needs - well more power to them and by all means, go that route.
most people on xda, and i am very happy about that, still value coherency. and they'd rather see new features getting made piece by piece. its the same with music. i like albums and bands. but there's some people that prefer ready-made collections and top10-samplers or whatever. i dont judge that, its a simple matter of preference.

Thank you for the valuable response. I was kind of expecting a lot of bashing from normal users. So I guess I have to how they combine these features.
Haven't tried Revolt, but I like the Pacman rom and Rootbox is good too

[Q] swipe palm screen catpure on custom rom

Hey guys, I've been on pac-rom for a while now, I really liked the palm swipe to take a screenshot on touchwiz just less strain on my physical buttons and much quicker, I was just wondering if there was anyway to get this back through an app or something or is it exclusive to touchwiz? i've already had a look at a few apps, some have overlay buttons which seems a bit cumbersome, some just give you the buttons again and give you editing options. Thanks

Expand notification bar not working

Hi!
I'm so frustrated right now. After installing the lolliflop upgrade, it seems as if there's no app that is able to pull down the notification bar anymore. Any hint what I can do now? I rely very heavily on this feature and absolutely can't do without it.
Thanks for your help

+1
in nova launcher it was working fine on kitkat, now it isn't working.
I'm back on KitKat again. Too many little deficits which make a big difference in the end. Didn't like the design of the Lolliflop UI anyway btw.

How to deactivate Nav bar on S8 Oreo to use gesture control (exynos)

Hey everybody,
I searched around a lot for this but couldn't find anything that worked...
Basically I want to use gestures without the nav bar showing up at every upswipe...which it unfortunately does with the built in hide option and all those immersive app stuff.
I came across an 0pt.navbar.apk or something like that which in January seemed to only work for nougat and not oreo....
There doesnt seem to be any other apps/ adb commands/ apk files getting you around rooting
Pls help me guys, thx so much in advance
Guys pls if the answer should be somewhere around here pls send me a link or something thx :good:
I'm looking for the same. I had it on note 8, great. But that apk does not work in oreo and you do not need root. I hope a help with alternative or update of it.
Any new stuff? Maybe a new version of 0pt.navbar.apk? Thx guys

There also is a Magisk Module "Hide Navigation Bar" that works
Yo guys the new XDA app (navigation gestures)presented in yt does not work for Samsung experience android 8.0... Ma bar still keeps showing at upswipes.... Is there still no option to disable it and not only hide it?? I mean Samsung already has that hiding built in so you get more screen real estate... But at an up swipe it comes back which makes is it kind of an unsuitable solution for gestures.. Pls help- thx
