[Q] Soft Brick Issues, What Can I Do?

Hi Everyone,
I rooted and used TWRP. Everything was fine, got SU installed and what not. Then I downloaded CM 10.2 Snapshot and Gapps and flashed them for the G2. I got the fastboot error. After trying to erase and replace the recovery, I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
I get all the way to the last step when I use the LG flash tool and it says "Dowload FAIL!" It says Device Model is different! The LG Flash Tool shows I have a D802, but my phone is branded Verizon and I had LTE working on it earlier today...so I assume it isn't the GSM version...Anybody have any idea what to do?

Unfortunately I keep running into tons of dead links for different ways of dealing with this issue. Now I'm really concerned that I'm going to get screen burn in because I cannot shut the phone off. It either sits in the fastboot/error screen or in the download screen / firmware update screen.

Was this ever solved? I have the same problem as the OP except with my ATT LG G2 D800. The lg flash tool shows my device as a D802. I have even tried downloading the D802 firmware, but got an error about the laf memory.
Like the OP I have followed other posts, but never found a solution. Please help.

I have an update: I used the procedure to do a factory reset by pressing the power and vol down until the lg logo appeared then release the power and immediately press the power button again. This prompted me to press the power button to do a factory reset. It came up with an error, but then booted into the CWM which I was using to flash CM on my device.
Hope this helps others.

Hi, I know this has been way back from 2 years ago. But is there any solution yet? Mine is ls980 and I'm having the same problem. Somehow trying ti factory reset does not work as after I released the power and volume down button the screen goes dark immediately and if I press it too long it just turns off.

Flash a different ROM
Ok, I hope this will help others:
I have an LG-H500F from Telcel Mexico, it got the security error bull after rooting and uninstalling bloatware, I could not find the original ROM anywhere but I found one for LG-H502F which is basically the same phone but for two sims and tv tunner.
Anyway, trying to flash the 502F Rom to the 500F kept giving me a download error complaining about not being the same model so what I did was, opened the dll file in an hex editor and found the model part H502F so I changed to H500F and saved it, also I changed the name of the tot file to H500F and Boom! It flashed it and revived my bricked little toy!!!

[Q] G2 d800 with d802 rom/firmware bad flash

I bought a broken AT&T G2 that the buyer did a bad flash or something with. Doing some playing around on the phone I see that the phone is d800/ AT&T G2, with what to appears to be a d802 firmware in it. Phone turns on and boots up to main screen but touch screen doesn't respond well and it reboots after maybe 1 min or two.
I have tried lg flash tool but get failed because it reads the phone as d802 and the dll/tot file are for the d800 and doesn't give me an option to proceed. Also tried LGMLauncher but doesn't download the software, gets stuck at 11%.
Any other help will be appreciated, if not I'll resell this phone.

Tried that, but it fails due to firmware and phone being different. thanks for the help

same problem need help
im in the same boat i accidentally loaded a d802 rom on a vs980 lg flash tool wont let me flash stock kdz because the phone now says d802 because of the bad rom flash and im stuck because i need to put a vz980 .dll but the program says that i need to use d802 because of the rom i accidentally installed
if anyone can help id be more that grateful im stuck with this brick for now and i dont even have a warranty on my phone so i cant get in replaced :crying::crying:

You can still get into recovery right? You try sideloading a correct rom?

Unfortunately not. It's in a boot loop and when I hold power and volume down it just goes to
[800] fast lot mode started
[850] udc_start()
And that's all I get can i force it into recovery another way

Going give this a try again. But the issue is if my pc has enough time to sync with the phone before the phone reboots.

I've tried something along those lines but to no avail. My phone doesn't show up on my computer in its current status. How can I get map to recognize my phone I have the drives installed and lg upgrade tool can see it so I know it can kinda see it. When I ran Adb devices nothing comes up on the ASB command prompt

don't think that's going to work for my situation but I'll give it a try in a bit. So I would get a d800 rom and load d802 .dll? I think once the program sees the .dll file and the firmware, it will fail.

Tried that link it takes me to a Chinese website and it has a .zip and .txt the zip has a password and the .txt has a bunch of gibberish and some links couldn't figure it out

try that, I downloaded with my windows phone. Stupid windows phone doesn't have a file manger so I can't locate the .dll. Dont know if the link works. Can't test the dll and forward till later. Let me k ow if you have any success.

No luck it redirects me to another site and tells me to sign into to a Chinese website and I haven't been able to find the .dll anywhere

Tried it with the d802 dll file and d800. Still fails for me.

well i tried it and it said i have the wrong bin now -_- guess i cant flash the stock .tot then since the phone actually thinks its a d802 now

i think we need some one to hack the dll or the LGFlashTools to skip TOT checking

Ya if we could get someone to do that then I could get everything to go through. Unfortunately I don't know any one with much programming or coding skills. But thanks for the help so far man. It's nice to know not everyone on the Internet is an asshole

if you can stay longger in fastboot mode
try flash VZ laf.img
fastboot erase laf
fastboot flash laf laf.img

i think this partition also the responsible for phone type ex D802 or VZ980 where LGFlashTools use it to detect phone type
laf partition will bring download mode to you

Hahaha tried this one to and the one it links me too. My phone isn't reconized my my computer so doing things throught the PCs CMD is out of the question for me and so is pushing the boot .img via ADB since my phone wasn't In debugging mode when I bricked it. But again thanks man. I think I've exhausted most of the conventional fix it threads on this since I've been looking through everything since Sunday

Touch not working after flashing stock ROM

I have LG G2 32GB from HK
First I Rooted the device, everything was OK- phone works...
Than I decided to burn STOCK ROM , i used LG Flash Tool 2014
Flash was 100% success, no error
After Device finish boot,
In the first Welcome screen (where you choose language)
I cannot touch the screen, everywhere i click (touch) the screen it seems like i touch somewhere else....
I cannot proceed forward from the welcome screen
The phone does not respond to my touch.... broken
The phone goes into Download mode, and quite strange- though i flah unrooted Stock Rom - it still writes that the phone is rooted.....
I tried to flash 5 different ROM (kdz file), None of them helped...same problem for each KDZ
I tried to flash using Win 8.1 , and Win7 ...same thing..touch not working after boot finished.....
I found a similart problem with no solution:

You have a refurb and a different model. Check my post here. You need to open your phone, you either have the D800 or D801. Flash that ROM, and you wil be fine.

The phone was sold as NEW and not Refr.
It was in Genuine box, with Genuine Chrager (and even manual)
Though it might be fraud...
I talked to the seller, and i am sending it back to him
Hopefully he will fix it/replace it
If not i will send him you link..

I think i'm having exactly the same problem as you T_T
so i decided to open my LG G2 to find out which exact model it is, and what i found is LS980 instead of D802.
but when i try to flash it with .tot files with LG flashtool v1.81, but i always got [Download FAIL!!] Check DLL or BIN file.
i also tried to flash it with some KDZ files like (D80210B_00, D80210F_00) i got 100% success but stuck at 1st welcome screen too.
i tried to look for KDZ file for the LS980 version but i can't any, so can someone please help me out here, please?
Would it work if i flash it with KDZ if i can find the LS980 KDZ-file for it?
i hope someone can help me please...

You can flash with the TOT, you just need to edit the TOT file in a Hex editor and change the model to what you have (LS980). Look at my post here on how to do that.

LG Flash tool doesn't detect model, please help.

As you read. After a whole day of searching non-stop from day 'til night, I finally give up and ask for help.
I've tried to flash a Lollipop ROM, which resulted in my LG G2 D800 having a soft brick.
I already had this issue once, so I knew what I had to do. I used a Kitkat 20c TOT package to return to Stock Kitkat. However, I kept recieving an error;
Device Model Unknown, Check Model or DLL. Or something similar. Upon my first search, I found out about the custom DLL.
So I tried it. But I get another error; CrossDL [Unknown] to [D800]. I tried 3 different DLL files, modified the TOT file (Hex Editor paste write)
I also ended up flashing some img files I don't remember which post it was exactly, but it was from here.
My device no longer boots up, it gives me, however, the option to either reboot or go directly to download mode once I power it on.
Please note; before and after the img flashing. I kept having the same issue.
So in short, I have no idea of how to flash the tot file because it keeps giving me a Device Model error. It there truly a way for the LG FLash tool (1.8.1 I think) to simply ignore what model it is before flashing?
Also, I tried this on another computer, but no luck, same result. I'm doing this on my PC with a Virtual Machine (I run Linux Mint as a Main OS) so I'm truly unsure if it's that, though the first time I did it when I first had the issue, it worked just fine...
Any ideas, suggetions?
Edit :: Another reason why I'm posting this is because a lot, if not all people with a D800 with this issue, their posts are either ignored or discontinued. So if I get this fixed, I'll make sure to specify how I did.

Did you flash that g4 port ROM you were looking at? That wasn't for the d800.

I actually flashed This ROM
The first time I had this issue, it was because, I flashed CloudyG2 3.3.
Both the D800 Variants of the ROMs
It seems the issue is that I didn't have the kitkat bootloader (though, my device has Kitkat by default, so, why does it have this issue?)

Bricked LG G6

Hello everyone!
To make my problem short I tried to update my LG G6 on Oreo but in the middle of update process phone shut down(I didn't know why-probably battery?) And after that phone is bootlooping and I tried to flash stock rom using uppercut and LGUP but without success I manage to start flash process and when it reaches about 50% phone just reboots and flash tool gives error message. Now phone is bricked. I don't now if there are any solutions. Any help is appreciated! Thank you guys! :fingers-crossed:

See some post how to enter in download mode (within fraction of second).. use LGUP and flash PROPER ROM..
(I see it was bootlooping.. that it must be charging)

Huge thanks for your reply, well I manage to get to download mode without problem, PC can detect phone as well and I can start flashing process, however with all firmwares I have found I cannot "refurbish" because "refurbished is not supported by that firmware" so I can only select upgrade in LG up. When I start process it goes all the way up to about 50% and phone just reboots back to download mode, after that LG UP moves a few % further reaching about 55% and gives error " invalid response code". I think if I can somehow use that refurbish option to clean flash stock rom , maybe that will be the fix. Thanks again.

I also forgot to mention that when I failed to install stock room with LG up my phone cannot escape download mode, when I force reboot it phone goes again directly to download mode. Probably because there is no OS installed?

Hi Ray, can you provide me the link of the tot file? I have the same problem

Unfortunately, I think there are no tot files that support refurbish. But after I replaced motherboard regular kdz update flash worked perfectly. I haven't found solution to that problem.
I would suggest you to try your luck if you have unlocked bootloader and try to flash TWRP to get phone back.
