[Q] Contact unable to sync with Google - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone has any issue with Google Contact Sync? It says "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".
Several methods I've tried before:
1. Delete the Google account and add again
2. Clear data from "Contacts Storage"
3. Enable all google related services that I have disabled before (Google Newstand, Google Book and etc)
It seems that I can only download the contacts the first time I add the account, but any edit I make on the phone won't sync back to Google.
Can't find any other new method from Google result...

Go to contacts (not with phone but contact app) go to settings then account and see if Google is there

Yes it is there, along with other stuff like Whatsapp, Samsung, Facebook etc. I have tried removing Google, re-add again, and then tweak one contact on my phone, and then go back to the setting > account > google to check, and there it is, "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" on the Contact part..

I was wondering if you got anywhere on this when you had the issue? I am having a similar problem.

Removing Address Book Default of T-Mobile Contact to Google Contact

One of the more annoying things I have found with my T-Mobile MyTouch 4g which I have Perm Rooted S=Off is that whenever you add a new contact either from log, texts or just create new contact it Defaults to a T-Mobile contact, and if you are not careful or forget about it that particular second you get screwed and have to create it again as a google contact. I want it to default to being a Google Contact so it goes into my Google Address Book automatically, not phone, not T-mobile but the google contact. Does anyone know how to make this happen, or how to modify some sort of file to accomplish this? A tutorial would be great and I am sure other people would appreciate it as well
I would like to know the same thing. It is so annoying that it does that.

I found the solution:
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/myTou...ntacts-you-want-to/td-p/584679/highlight/true
Please read this instruction carefully and be sure that you saved all your contacts with your google account. uncheck in the sync menu all accounts (Qik, Exchange etc) except your main google account.
1) On the web, make sure ALL your contacts are in your Google.com contacts.
2) On your phone, make sure sync with T-Mobile is UNCHECKED and that ONLY Google sync IS checked.
3) Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications and choose the Running tab.
4) Scroll and choose Contacts Storage.
5) Select Clear Data - WARNING- THIS WILL ERASE ALL CONTACTS DATA FROM YOUR PHONE. DON'T WORRY. IT WILL SYNC BACK.
6) Go into Contacts. Hit Menu/View. Make sure that T-mobile (and any other accounts you don't want to display) is UNCHECKED.
7) Go back to Accounts & Sync and make sure Google is syncing ant that T-Mobile remains deselected.
You should be good to go when it comes to Google being the default contact entry. If you had contacts linked with Facebook, Twitter or otherwise, you will have to now let those sync and auto-link again. It's worth the trouble, though. Good luck.

It did not work for me as described but I followed the directions on the post from psyclism which says:
My first try didn't work either. I ended up disabling sync on ALL of my accounts, clearing data then rebooting my phone. After that I enabled google contact sync, and viola! Google is now the default. I then enabled all of the other accounts (except for TMobile) and Google has remained my default account type.

Also do not post in the thread itself telling the user that he made a mistake or broke a rule as it doesn't contribute to the thread and is unnecessary.
Does this still work? I am trying everything listed above, but t-mobile is still the default.

[Q] Facebook Sync?

I've been trying to figure out how to sync my Facebook with my phone, but I think I'm running into a glitch. I go to Settings, Accounts & sync, Add Account. I then click on the facebook button, but then it just shoots me back to the previous page (Accounts & sync). The very first time I did this, it asked me to log into my account, but then it didn't add my FB account and just brought me back to the previous screen. I've looked online for a solution, tried things like uninstalling the facebook app and reinstalling it, but it just does the same thing. Any thoughts?

You didn't look particularly hard did you? Check down on the Themes/Apps section for this phone. There is a leftover bit from the SE code that was stripped that ends up blocking the addition of a FB account from the official FB app. You have to use another app. Try using the SonyEricsson Life.Contacts beta, or use WATTO's FB Synch adapter (I use the latter, but there isn't an option to synch only matching contacts, just all or nothing).

I follow your instructions:
I sign out, clear data, and THEN do accounts-->sync--->add account--->facebook--->sign in---->fb starts up--->i back out of it--->nothings changed in my contacts, and furthermore when I go into accounts: there is still only google synced up. no evidence of any fb sync

For those not stuck on the borked CDMA version, yes, this. Also make sure you have not moved the FaceBook application to the SD card, as that will also commonly mess up the account synch adapters.
Same goes for me. I logged out, cleared app cache, cleared app data, reinstalled, tried to add FB sync account, logged in successfully, facebook opened but no sync account was added.
The only way i figured it out is to use the r800x UK firmware because it uses the sony ericsson base instead of google, so facebook contacts arent blocked.
My two cents, hope it helps

[Q] Out of sync

Hey there... I had a Samsung Galaxy S3... so I decided to buy the S4 at a very reasonable price. It came to me yesterday.
So excited...!
When I started configuring the device, my nightmare began.
Preliminaries:
- Firmware was upgraded to 4.3 and no other updates are available.
- I don't want to root my phone (not yet).
Problem:
I can't login to my google account: I keep getting the message:
Sync Error.
"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".
Specifically I can't sync Contacts and Gmail and Picasa (couldn't care less about this one).
What I have done so far not exactly by this order:
- Cleared cache of Contacts and Contacts storage;
- Went to my Gmail via web and exported and deleted all contacts;
- Factory reset;
- Tried the Samsung Contacts Fix;
- Deleted and added the Google account (like 223 times);
- Removed all application passwords from Google verification;
- Downgraded all Google applications and Google services;
- Checked out time and date on the device;
- Went through the Google troubleshooting process.
To no avail.Sometimes I get the ok for the Google contacts but no contacts show up.
Now I can't go anywhere from here... No contacts, Not able to use Google Play...
What a complete turn-off...
Any genius out there with a solution to my case?
Thanks a bunch!

Calendar not show Google Account. No Calendar Sync on Settengs->Accounts (China ROM)

Calendar not show Google Account. No Calendar Sync on Settengs->Accounts (China ROM)
Hello. Anybody here also has problem with showing google account on Calendar?
Already installed the official Google Calendar app but it also only shows "local account" on the calendar account settings.
I already did almost all the clearing, uninstalling, and restarting stuff I found after searching but still the issue exists.
All other Google services (Contacts, Maps, Drive, Keep) are working/syncing okay except the Calendar.
Would appreciate any ideas.
My Google Calendar {option does not even appear}
This is the same issue for me with the JOYUI rom.
When I look into permission manager or battery management, I always allow "googleCalendarSync" and all other google services to be check. Especially for autostart features. However, I just can't seem to get the calendars to sync. When I look it over under accounts> google> calendar does not appear at all. I have contacts, play services etc but not for calendar? Does anyone know what is wrong with it ? or has a fix assuming its googleCalendarSync issue?

You have a Chinese version that does not support Google sync!
Anyone solved tbis issue?
Hmm.. Never had that problem with mine. I'm not sure if this would help, but try installing a Google Contact Sync app. I forgot if this was something I installed separately after having Google Play.

Did you manully install Google Apps or you use the Google Apps Installer from the Mi Store?
Finally, I got it working! I've uninstalled the Google Calendar Sync that has been installed by the Google Installer for Mi devices and voila, it now syncs! That Google Calendar Sync is the culprit! LOL. I wish I've done it months ago.

Hey guys! Eyes here!
1. Uninstall any existing installed Google Calendar Sync in the "Manage App".
2. Install Google Calendar. Allow all permissions.
3. Download and install the latest Google Calendar Sync by searching for the apk on Google. Mine was (as of writing).
Google Calendar Sync 6.0.44-267540251-release
4. Install the apk. In the app settings, enable "Autostart" and other permissions necessary in the "Manage App" in Settings.
5. In "Accounts & Sync" > "Google" > make sure that "Calendar" and "Google Calendar" are all checked.
6. Restart your phone for good practice and make sure everything is working.
7. Done.

Can you please explain to me exactly what have I to do with my phone? I don't understand what is "Google Calendar Sync" and how can I remove it. I looked for some information and I couldn't find anything. My phone (OnePlus Nord 2) doesn't allow me to uninstall Google Calendar. Only the updates.
Thanks a lot.
EDIT: I finally could uninstall Google Calendar using ADB but when I install it again I continue owning the "Local Account"

Google contacts sync problem

Hello all,
Long time I suffer from message "sync is currently experiencing problems" on my phone. I tried many solutions and none of them fix the problem so I decided to upgrade my phone version to 7.1.1 from 6.0.1, I removed Google account and installed it again, updated Google app from Google Play.
Now I don't see the that message and also don't see an option to sync Google contacts, save new contact in my account.
Any solutions? Maybe Android version has a bug?
B.T.W I also don't have the Google photos sync
Kind regards,
Solution:
back up the phone, wipe, restore -> problem solved
