[Q] Question regarding rooting+custom rom (Australia delivered version) - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
im new to this whole rooting business, i rooted my S3 when i had it a year ago using odin and that worked flawlessly, but now i've forgotten almost all of it, since the note 3 is a relatively new device, i would like some inputs on it,
1. how do i root it?, best software to use including which one, for an Australia delivered note 3 (if it makes any difference, since there are lots of diff versions and kernals available)
2. i would like to flash to x-note 3 v6.0, will that be okay for the Australian version of the note 3.
3. and the process of installing x-note v6.0 rom onto it.
Thanks alot in advance for any input.

[Q] root and warranty

I decided a few months to buy the Galaxy S5 and now wonder if I should start doing experiments with my S4 with root, Knox and custom ROMs
My phone is currently an official firmware .4.4.2
What do you think is it worth to ignore warranty, etc.

This may not be that helpful but, when all is said and done it is entirely up to you what you do with your phone. I don't think anyone can advise in this situation. Its your choice.

[Q] A few questions for SM-G710 (not dual sim i guess)

Hi, I live in Turkey and I bought this phone 6 days ago.The problem is;
1-) Can't root the phone (They told me i can't root the sm-g710 because it's for sm-g7102 in development section)
My questions are;
1-) In a picture, we see the phones that are going to get KitKat update and grand 2 is seen in the picture as SM-G7102.So does it mean SM-G710 is not going to get KitKat update?
2-) If it is, and if i can't root and update the phone should i give it back before it's too late? (I mean tomorrow, you know 7th day, returning it without question, last day)
And P.S : I don't mind KitKat update but i really have to root the phone for a few reasons. The most important reason for me is to remove that screen lock delay.First but not the last.
Help?
OH MY GOD !!!
CF-ROOT for 7102 WORKED FOR SM-G710.OOOO YEAH !!!
So this probably means GenNxt will work on SM-G710 too.Should i install it or try to modifiy like it without risking the phone?

[Q] Root KnoxFree

Hi guys! I have my s4 since last year June and I think the time is come for him to get some new features. To do so, I thought to get root permissions and unlock the bootloader in order to install a new custom rom. But I'm overly scared by Knox counter.
I didn't get well the story: if I get permission, I'll trip the counter to 1, invalidating the warranty, right? Is there any way to unlock bootloader and get permissions without tripping knox? Is it worth doing? I'm trying to do a sort of "revamp" of my phone, and maybe getting it faster and more stable than stock roms!
Thank you in advance!
P.S: My S4 is h3g (italy) brandizied. I don't know if it's important! Sorry for my english!

No.
You will have to try some out yourself. XDA prohibits the discussion of "best rom" or "rom recommendations" for several reasons.
It's rude to developers.
They usually devolve into an argument between ROM 1 Fanboys and ROM 2 Fanboys.
And most importantly, only you can make a determination about what roms are best for the way you use your phone. We wouldn't dare deprive you of the opportunity learn about flashing roms and seeing the differences between them. It's a growth experience! You'll learn more in a week than we could teach you by talking about ROMs in a year.
We recommend you read through the development threads and read up on what ROMs are available. Picka f ew and try each one out for a couple days. See what features you want and which ones you hate. Then narrow down what ROM you like based on that.

Oh, ok, didn't know that! Last question: I've read in some italian forums that towelroot doesn't work anymore without tripping knox counter because samsung fixed it. Is it true or with some of the latest upgrades Towelroot began to work again?

[Q] Installing Another country on my note 4 and few questions!

Hi, im tired of waiting for Lollipop on my note 4, i have N910HXXU1ANK5 and i was thinking about flashing the other country's firmware, how much is the risk of bricking my device? i pad 800$ for this and im extremely scared! its so much compared to my previous nexus 4 on my old nexus 4 is was like fastboot unlock and tada! its a bit harder in here and i bricked my old n7000 so i rather be careful this time!
Generally how much is the risk of bricking a note 4! what could cause it! i know in general its wrong firmware but like the old n7000 factory reset on ics would kill it and which it did is there anything special like that with the note 4? just be sure too check rom versions?
and what should i do to install 910C on my 910H? what happens if i do something wrong?(soft or hardbrick?)
sorry if this thread sounds stupid, but im going to be 100% sure before i do this as i paid my whole life savings on this
thanks!
From my understanding of the 910h, it is a 3g unlocked note 4. What service are you currently running it through? I just got the lollipop update from verizon a couple of days ago. Before the update came out I got a taste of what lollipop would be like by switching my runtime in the developer options. After the update there isn't too much of a difference. Just color scheme of messaging and some animated pointer click detection and top and bottom wave animation on screen when fully at the top or bottom while scrolling. If you want to get the same performance with your apps as lollipop is running right now, simply go to developer options in your settings, then select runtime, then change from dalvik to ART. Then you won't have to worry about bricking your phone at all.

Root for my phone isn't available yet. Comes stock with knox. There's actually a bounty for a verizon and at&t root method right now, so I'm going to have to hook mine up to my Linux based computer and see what I can do. The biggest risk is of course bricking your device by installing another country. I've been rooting devices since froyo was being developed. I've bricked and unbricked a few of my own devices. Unbricking is usually not easy. Because your partition is more than likely specifically for 910h you'd have to repartition it for the 910c that you would want to install. Make sure to make a copy of the 910h partition before you start. Also copy all of the .rar, .tar, .md5 files that are on the device currently. Haven't done it for about a year myself, but if I remember correctly there are 5-7 of them. One for the modem, etc.

Lets start, its too hard on todays day to brick a device, there are a lot more work around, its not 2011 anymore, the only thing u need to be able to do right is READING, without insulting nobody if you can read then your fine, reading and following all steps on this forum is a key. You can flash anything u want on ur phone WHILE ITS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR N910x MODEL, if ur not rooted yet, go and root it, it takes 2 minutes, remember the key READING, then you can make ur own research by reading the Development section, after u have done rooting and flashing a custom recovery, most people use TWPR, then ur good to go. If you just want a stock experience, then go to sammobile website, search ur model number, and download the stock rom, this you will have to flash it using ODIN, but like a said, by READING, you have NOTHING to worry. Remember if something happens to ur device, this is just to have it in mind,
WHILE U CAN ACCESS DOWNLOAD MODE VIA VOLUME DOWN+HOME+POWER, YOU ARE SAFE MY FRIEND, GOOD LUCK

In all honesty, I'd load Odin on your PC and the flash the Official Samsung Rom from Sammoble. Touchwiz is pretty good these days and has been fast on my T715 for the last 2 years. If you intend to use this tab without LTE, remember to turn on Airplane mode and then wifi. If you don't it may drain the battery looking for a signal etc.

You don't need to get the tablet unlocked and any firmware you download from Sammobile and install using Odin doesn't affect your warranty.
When looking on Sammobile, just look for the latest firmware that's UK or failing that, O2. The UK firmware contains less bloat of course. Once flashed, just use Nova laucher or Google Now Laucher to get that stock feel. :victory:

You need to make a decision on whether you are prepared to possibly void your warranty. Flashing anything custom trips KNOX and can potentially void the warranty.

I am completely fine with that, It is a second hand unit any way so is probably out of warranty any way. I have flashed plenty before but never samsung, so never had to deal with odin and knox, also with there being loads of different model numbers it is a bit confusing which roms can go on which tabs.

If you choose to stick with Samsung stock and don't root, I'd go with this on Sammobile using Odin. https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T819/BTU/download/T819XXU2BRB2/212254/
