Could be that it is copying it rather than moving it, or the phone takes a few mins to update it's read storage parameters

it doesnt copy it because on the storage on the sd card remains the same.

I know, usually letting the phone re-index does the trick.
I take it reformatting the card also does nothing?

32gb micro sandisk not mounting ??

hi,just tried my new 32gb sandisk & it wont stay on,i plugged it in & it says i can safely remove & when i mount it it appears as 29gb and then vanishes again, ive erased the card but still wont stay & also restarted phone ??? any ideas ? is the card a duff ?
bloody hell now my old card is doing the samething & all my data, music & videos etc are not showing ?
none of my cards will stay mounted & ive factory reset also, they just appear & disappear 16gb & my new 32gb sandisk ?
notification keeps coming up to safely remove sd card
There is a little switch that clicks down when you put the back down. Be sure the back cover of your phone is all the way one or it won’t mount.
Also once you change cards your old card will not work in your phone again (data wise).
The phone seems to marry to the card then forget the old card. I learned that the hard way when I put a smaller card in while I rooted my phone (all I did was format the other card at that point). Then I put my main card back in all my games had to be reinstalled.
You can copy all the data files from one card to the other and the phone will recognize both properly

Not that I know of. Like I said it forgot my SD after putting a new one in and formatting it. So i'm guessing one at a time.

Ah, it's actually more convenient because it allows you to change sd cards without restarting your phone.

Same, had the same issues at first, and this was the solution.
That feature is there so hotswapping your memory card won't cause data corruption.

The bad news is you may have a bad quality sd card.
Try another card.
It worked for me.

i will get a new card but what if the problem is there in my phone..... investing 100 bucks again for a card and problem comes in my phone or in the software. i'll definitely get another one but want to be sure that its just my card.
Borrow a card... you can keep the other card or sell it cheap

Yeah that's possible
thanks......
Since I changed my card to a better quality card the phone was more stable.
The other card triggered battery drains and camera crashes and then it had the unmount problem before the card eventual failed.
New one solved all problems.

I know its not th e phone becuase this is the second phone to do the same thing. does anyone know whats going on hear.
Sounds like a bad SD card. Remove your SD card and see if it boots. You may need to format the card or replace it.

[Q] external SD card causing sluggish boot

I'm using Note3 with the latest 4.4.2 (rooted)
It seems like my external SD card is causing my phone to be sluggish during boot/reboot.
- Phone boots to homescreen fine
- Phone cannot be put to sleep with power button
- External SD card not detected during this time
after awhile, the phone vibrates
- External SD card now detected
- Phone can now be put to sleep.
any suggestions?
sorry for the bump..
but any ideas? :X
Scan card with a antivirus, move files from card to a pc, format SD card, try with empty card, then add files not all at once to see what's causing the problem, then come back and ask ?

I reformatted my extSD and removed all the files (backup of my internalSD) and it seems to be working fine now.
- decent detection speeds...
it seems like the Note3 has issues detecting the SDcard once it's up to a certain size?

I'd disagree. I have 1.2 gigs free of 64, and it wasn't formatted for at least 1.5 years, and I moved a gazillion of files but it flies on the Note.
Many things to consider when a sd card starts to f... around.
Edit : just checked, only 0.8 gigs

Yeah, could be. You'll see how it behaves. From my experience, these kind of things are good to be bought original. I'm not sayin yours if fake, but you know what I mean...

SD card notification won't go away

Does anybody have an sd card notification that keeps coming back. When I click it it opens up file explorer. I can dismiss it and it comes back.

I do and asked with no response but now i know im not alone lol
I think any questions may be kind of hard to answer at the moment due to the device not actually being released until the 8th

It kept on giving me the notification with a brand new 128gb PNY until it finally just didn't recognize it at all. I put in my old 32gb SanDisk and now it only shows on reboot.
Hahaha that makes me feel sad

Press and hold the notification, then press the I on the right and chose block all notifications, this should work in theory.

I just noticed that it is after restarting the phone so I'll try that next time.
It's only on start up or when re mounting the card for me.. if you swipe it away it stays gone

It's normal for new releases to have some bugs. Samsung will probably release an update to fix any bugs.
Multiple bugs for sure. Mine does the same thing constantly and I have a 64gb Samsung card in mine. Also the stupid UAC which promtps you to allow or deny to use every app you install and also the fact that OTG cables don't work with gamepads either. I feel like I downgraded from my note 5.
I just called T-Mobile and tech support said they're getting a lot of calls about the sd slot being bad. Mine unmounts and ejects the sd every 20 minutes or so now. They're sending me a new one.
S7 Edge Verizon. No matter how many time you swipe the notice closed or turn off notifications from the system ui it KEEPS COMING BACK!!! I hate this phone because of that already. It's driving me nuts! Guess I'll call Samsung tech support I really don't want to have to resort to root and xposed to get rid of this.

Hey guys, just wanted to post a solution to the problem. All of you with this phone, that use an external SD card, are getting an annoying notification that says, "SD card For transferring photos and media," and it doesnt seem to go away. If this message appears over and over again in your status bar, the only known way to get rid of it was to previously just keep "clearing" it out or remove the SD card completely.
If you are receiving a notification "SD card For transferring photos and media" on your Samsung Galaxy S7 and you cannot get the notification to go away, please try to do the following:
1. BACKUP your sd card - plug your phone into your computer and copy off the contents of the SD card
2. On the phone, navigate to: Settings >> Memory >> SD Card
3. In the submenu, choose FORMAT
All of the data on the memory card will be formatted to the correct file system and the memory card will be reconnected to the phone for proper use. The message, "SD card For transferring photos and media" should no longer appear.
Hopefully this helped you out! Thanks!

Same. That was the first thing I tried and it doesn't make a difference.
Same issue. I used scotch tape and put 3 pieces on top of the SD card. Now the issue happens 1/day instead of 1/hour. 5 pieces of tape and it is too thick to close, or it gets caught inside the phone. I'm trying to figure out if this is a physical or software issue. The last time it failed yesterday I had dropped it (6 to 8 inches) to a carpeted floor, so I'm not sure if it was coincidence or truly a physical issue. Verizon store guy changed my SIM card, but that doesn't seem to have much of an effect (love the placebo attempt). The SD card worked fine in my S5.
