[ROM][Smartq Z][29-11-13]geek78 2.1 - Other SmartWatches

Hi
So here is my 2nd (and last as I am going to keep my Gear and sale the Z) rom for the smartq z watch.
Based on stock 2.1 rom
Rooted (thanks clockworkmod)
File manager deleted
sleeping analyzis deleted
Fx File manager and Fx root add on from Nextapp added
Flit keyboard from Locnet added
Quick keyboard switcher from Appaholics added
App Uninstaller added
AOSP Browser added
AOSP Calculator added
Gapps small package added (no gmail, no maps ... you can download those apps from playstore)
[HOW-TO]
1-Flash the watch with the restore tool from https://hotfile.com/dl/255788947/abfedd9/z1_restore_tool.zip.html (yes, i know, it will format the watch and you will loose everything... but it is needed)
2-Copy this http://www.multiupload.nl/TNB1INGIWU to the root of the /Sdcard of your watch and rename it as update.zip
3-Start the flash from the watch
4-After the boot you can delete the 2 chinese apps with App Uninstaller
[Remember]
if you apply an update (OTA or full update) you will loose root, gapps ....
[Issues/Advices]
The screen is so small that you can't see all the options of superuser when an app ask for root rights. So, you will have to go to Superuser and change setting to "allways answer yes" before installing and starting for the 1st time a new app which needs root, after what, off course, you can go back to superuser and change again settings
You can't apply my rom without flashing with the restore tool before ! Even if you are yet running my rom ! Sorry but i don't have time to change this ...
I suggest you to install Ultimate Dynamic Navbar from Playstore (better than PIE)
[Screenshots]

Problem
I followed your instruction to use the restore tool first, before installing your ROM.
Problems:
(1) No watch face widget
(2) UI becomes very very very sluggish
I repeated the procedure and the result was the same. I even went into recovery and wipe user data / cache / dalvik / system, and then use the restore tool again before installing your ROM again. Then above problem were still there.
Sorry it does not work for me.

Sorry my watch is yet on the package ready to be sale and shipped...
With gapps I think that this watch won't be a star... To much props and services to load.
For the watch face do you mean the watch when the watch wake up? It was there on mine.

Correct. I never see any watch face, there is only a blank screen when the watch boots up. You can still swipe sideways to see the widgets and app menu.

I had the same problem ..blank start screen. But I could only swipe right (bringing new screen in from left side).
So I tried redoing the whole procedure ...and now I think I bricked my watch ;-( It wont start or go into restore mode ..just keeps buzzing 4 times and then after a pause buzzes twice...then repeats
UPDATE: Managed to get the watch restored ..not sure what the exact procedure is but requires lots of patience trying the restore mode buttons over and over again while connected to the restore/burn tool.

Whats the original density I belive the clock widget problem has to do 140 dpi

Deadbeef ...I've had this a couple times now; in my case my watch goes into a buzzing pattern (4 buzzes pause 2 buzzes long pause ...then repeats over and over again). I think this is when its "on" ...and when its "off" then its obviously just blank/no buzzing at all.
I've managed to eventually get it back but just requires patience.
My best solution so far is ...
If its not buzzing (i.e. off) start the restore/burn tool so that its listening for the watch restore mode. Then plug in the watch.
And then keep doing the power+back buttons press for 8+ seconds. ie if the button sequence doesnt trigger the restore procedure then wait a few second and press both the buttons again.

Finaly got the custom 2.1 rom installed

Wasn't able to install a working usb boot driver for the watch, so the restore tool could not communicate with it.
Found an old laptop with Win XP and installed the Restore tool and the boot driver from it's subdirectory.
Watch was was found on the second try.
After restore to 1.5 I was able to copy and upgrade to this great custom Rom on my Win 7 64bit pc.
Thanx, for the ROM. It's great. Now the watch has a reason to stay.

Geek78, your work is very impressive. So cool to know people are working on the smartwatches too!
I have a general question for you because i don't know if anyone else would be able to answer. I personally am using the ZGPAX S5 and love it (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1467454256/The_newest_android_watch_phone_android.html) - However, i am trying to use widget locker or go locker to overried the desk clock from coming up when i wake the device... it's very hit and miss. I was wondering if you might know how to disable this in the deskclock apk package. I have rom toolbox on the watch and can freeze various parts of the app. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Hell, i even renamed deskclock.apk to apk.bak in system/app and the dam thing still runs after clearing dalvik (did the same with stock launcher, running adw now). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. who knows maybe you will mess around with this watch one day... lol

Using this watch with wifi enabled kills the battery. This rom is great. Installed es file explorer and gmail. Wifi antenna is weak. Very low range. Wishing there was a way to connect over BT to my phone.

[QUOTE Wishing there was a way to connect over BT to my phone.
what do you mean for the pc connection you mean?

The wifi tranmitter on this watch has extremely limited range and eats up a lot of the battery. Using a BT connection over my phone (tethering) to acces the Internet.
Also installed Facebook without problems. Tried MX player. It works with both internal and mips drivers. Choppy but it works. Even streaming mp4 over Lan. But the player crashes after 30 sec.

[Q] [Report] energy ROM issues

Hello,
since I don't have the needed posts to leave a comment in the development section, I will do so here.
I flashed the new Energy ROM on my KF and found the same issues, other users report. Like: not working Home Button, WiFi could not be enabled, crashing Play Store.
I found WiFi and Home button work after first do a factory reset, clear both caches and flashing the rom again.
I can also start the Play Store without an issue, but if I try to download something the store crashes and can not be restarted. I deleted the app cache and I'm able to enter the store again. I tried a 'fix permissions' in TWRP, but it doesn't help.
I think I will move back to the 03.02.2012 version. It worked great and maybe we will find a solution for these issues.
Thanks NRGZ28 for your great work ^^
Hi,
I flashed version 15.03. with the same procedure I mentioned above. But now the system stuck at the boot animation. I made a backup of my previous system, so I moved simply back. ^^
I had the wife issue as well. I just rebooted and it worked.
My Issue is every time I shut it down it just hangs with a few blank screen and I have to do a hard shut down (hold the power for 20 seconds)
Is anyone else having audio dropping issues with these roms?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Which audio issue do you mean? Missing some parts of an mp3 while playing?
I hear the music from my collection all the time but had no drops.
Which bitrate are your mps3 files? Maybe an encoding error.
Hey,
Just my two cents but from what I have seen, you pretty much have to factory reset, wipe dalvik and wipe cache every time. Every time I went to just install rom like a update. I ran into nothing but problems and loss of wifi, no home button, play store crash.
If you install 3.15, he has placed a .zip of gapps to resolve the issue of play store crash.
So far running 3.15 and nothing but free flying and doing great.
Happy flashing folks!!

Sometimes button press well sound and sometimes they will not sound. .I use mobo for video with software decoding sometimes the audio will play sometimes it will not. Then for no reason just start sounding again. I'm baffled

I tried the 6th and the 13th both seamed to give me the same audio issues

It seems like the hard power reset is a known issue with the ICS roms. I have the same issue and it was reported in the main thread for this rom. There also have been some power on issues where a power reset is required, holding down the power button for 20 seconds, to get the Fire to power back on.
can confirm the power off issue. Every time I choose the power down option I will get a blank screen with led on.. The only way to get it off is to hold the power button for 20 sec.
Sorry for posting here, (Not enough posts for the Dev Section).
I found yesterday that there is a WiFi-Streaming issue. on every rom for the Kindle Fire so far.
If you are trying to stream in image via WiFi, the Kindle 'will' connect to that devices WiFi but will not stream its image... - My phone will connect and stream it seamlessly. Any reasons? or something I should try?
I've so far, done a complete Wipe, (System, Cache, Dalvik, factory Reset) - installed this ROM, and others but to no avail.
Thanks, Love this ROM otherwise. Thanks for the great work.

Phone freezing on me

Strange problem. My phone freezes on me every 35-40 hours of power on. I need to remove battery and restart the phone for it to work. I could be just be in the app drawer or playing a graphic intensive game the phone would just freeze.
I don't know why this would happen to an otherwise wonderful phone. Snappy fast and great battery otherwise.
I've done the official Sammy firmware upgrade OTA and the phone is stock unrooted
Any clues?

Try to use without ext sd card if there is any & observe.
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience with my SM-N9005 that's a week old today.
When I first unboxed it, it slipped in my sim card and 64GB sdcard and turned the phone on.
During the second or third screen of the wizard, the phone froze and rebooted.
After that, I went through the wizard again with no problems and finally to the homescreen.
I noticed on the status bar that the Play Store is failing to install / recover a whole host of apps and during that, I received that "Prevention Information" nonsense, the phone froze and rebooted after I tapped to see if I can find this app but all it showed me one was app, which was the Play Store services. I assume, maybe the apps failed because the services and Play Store wanted to update.
Well after all of that, there are times when the "Prevention Information" comes up, the phone won't freeze and soft restart (Just show the Samsung logo and come back to the homescreen with one or two vibrations) right away but eventually. There have been instances, where for example, I would be in the BBM for Android app or WhatsApp when this happens and return with no chat history but that happened once or twice, I think there was another instance that I lost information but that might not necesserily be an emmc issue but due to a sudden reboot or freeze without being able to save properly.
I also get a notification toast that I am running low on memory when I have plenty of memory left. (I would start seeing this around and after 10GBs have been used)
Things I have tried:
Factory Reset from the menu option.
Factory Reset from Recovery.
PC ODIN to the very first .tar ROM with corresponding CSC (XME) for my handset.
Removed the sdcard to see if it was that.
Nothing worked but the problems aren't as frequent.
I can't play games for too long because it will soft reboot. The phone does get warm quickly, which is a concern.
I think that's about it, I do love the phone but if this continues and this is a Samsung bug, I might just hold off from sending it back and buy a Nexus 5.
Samsung has been having too many issues with their handsets like faulty emmc chips, sudden bricked phones, multi-touch screen issues, etc.
This will be my last Samsung device either way but I am hoping that there's a fix because if I send it back, that's that.
I'm thinking of returning mine and sticking with the s4 to much hassle I've factory reset my device and left out my 64gb we card and see where it goes from here.

[Q] sucesffuly rooted and Flashed CWM Recovery.. still only boots to stock recovery

AT&T 1337
Pretty much as the title states
Rooted phone with motochopper, superuser stuff is all good
Downloaded and ran ROM Manger off the store
Recovery setup
installed recovery
successfully installed, rebooted phone
loaded ROM manager again, checked recovery setup, shows current recovery as ClockworkMod Recovery..
so.. yea, everything went off without a hitch.. except when I try to boot into recovery, be it via rom manager or manually, it still just boots into the stock recovery..
I re-read the directions (went off cyanogenmod wiki)
I know Im missing something, but.. what?
EDIT: Well crap. I noticed the install directions I was going off of were for I337UCUAMDB or I337UCUAMDL
I have 1337UCUAMF3
IM guessing I probably need a different version of CWM.
With MF3 you can only you safe strap. Get acquainted with that thread and how safe strap works and unfortunately you can only flash stock based ROMs with stock kernels. No custom ones like CM or AOKP.

Yea, I just found that out..
Let me tell you what kicked this off, maybe you have a suggestion..
Ever since the last update (4.3) the (long stream of expletives) Samsung music player has developed a mind if its own in regards to bluetooth.
There are similar gripes all over the web, but my specific one is that whenI sync the phone to my car OR to my bluetooth unit in my motorcycle helmet.. The samsung music player has decided that IT is the default media player, and there is no way to change it.
So when I hit the play button in my car.. instead of iheart radio, or pandora starting IT starts... and IT just randomly plays any and all audio files on the phone, it doesn't even limit itself to a directory.. I have to unlock the phone, and turn it off... not bad right?
Well on the motorcycle helmet is where its a real bastard.. my SENA unit has 3 buttons VOL+ VOL- and FUNC
the function button by default pauses or plays audio from the default audio player on the connected bluetooth device.. my default being Pandora radio.
Now.. I fire up pandora, put the phone in my jacket and off I go... happy times... vroom vroom.. well a call comes in... the unit pauses the audio player for the call, and resumes it when the call has ended... which has always worked fine... but NOW instead of pandora just picking up where it left off, the goddamn samsung music player starts instead, playing whatever random sounds or recordings are on the phone, actually to be more precise, what happens is pandora starts, then samsung music player starts, which pauses pandora...
So I have to pull over, dig my phone out of my pocket, close samsung music player and start pandora... every single time I get a call, or if I just want to pause and resume the music.. this happens.. Im sure you understand the frustration.
You cant disable it, you can force stop it but it will start again the next time any bluetooth device is connected... Its an unstoppable pile of **** and I want it GONE..
thats what started my cyanogen odyssey..
Ive searched quite a bit, found many people with the same problem, all asking how to disable or remove it.. no solution.
Well, I did (hopefully) find a workaround, an app called bluetooth connect and play. Playing with it on my helmet and it works perfectly.
Still wish i could get rid of all the ABSOLUTE CRAP that Samsung and ATT have piled on this phone..
I don't know if this is going to work for you but it seems to work for me. MK2 / SafeStrap 3.71 / SHOstock v3 on stock slot

I've lost root access, and strangely now cannot get it back, superuser says KNOX is detected, and cannot be disabled. Root checker now says I no longer have root access. A few hours ago it was fine, no issues.
Can't believe you buy a device, and are forbidden from having control over the programs on it.
It's like buying a house, and the realtor telling you what curvature you can and can't have.

(Solved) KODI makes... Shield tv randomly woke up itself

Just noticed after system upgrade 2.1 console turn up itself. My console is linked through cec hdmi future to Samsung smart and when console boots up tv turns on too. Did fresh reinstall 2.1 and problem still there. Change log about 2.1 has been said they improve some black level of hdmi (something like that) looks like this somehow effected random turns on maybe... Any one have this issues or I'm one here with this and any kind of fix?

You have to disable CEC control on Shield or on Tv set. Samsung calls it Anynet, maybe.
If I am not wrong!

Are you using the stock launcher? Mine did something similar when I was using a different launcher.

Everything stock.
But I start thinking, is any possibility could kodi might call for this all, coz early stage 2.1 when come out I didn't had this woke up problems or maybe just did make attention... under kodi 15.1. And then after come kodi official 15.2 and kind of started problems, even kodi16.3 but same time I did force stop kodi before turn of tv with native remote, but didn't help. Is any possibility when doing force stop and later app get active by self?! (didn't done with titanium freeze option, then app would definitely stay disabled). Didn't had a chance to check those combination, will try on days to make sure, coz in kodi settings there is something said about sleep option etc maybe there is bug
Finally
Kodi or OS, but not explained why I didn't saw earlier like I see now at least 1-2 in 24 hours which gives me think not only about 2.1. Coz its not to hard for me not see tv is in my bedroom

Looks like problem was and is in kodi. Install kodi 16.4 and problem still there. BUT WHEN I FREEZE KODI IN TITANIUM BACK UP BEFORE PUT SLEEP THEN SHIELD STAYS SLEEP ( tested this all bit less in 24 hours and didn't had a problem with random woke ups during hours )

Completely lost ability to sync apps after AW 2.0

So I purchased the Wear24 watch on TechRabbit. It arrived and I connected watch to phone. All my apps were syncing and things were, for the most part, good. Noticed the watch would say it was NOT connected but it was connected.
Also noticed the 2.0 update available. I updated to AW 2.0....now I cant download any apps on my watch. I open the
play store on the watch and it just crashes in 4-5 seconds. No force close warning or anything. Any ideas?

I have like 3 times.
Did you try to uninstall and the reinstall Android wear on our phone?
Also when ou set up the watch initially it takes while before apps sync.
You also need to install apps from the appstore on the watch, this was not needed on previous version of AW.
I have the same problem with my LG watch style, it closes like 5 seconds after it loads. Can't find anything to help.
Had the same problem. I noticed it stopped when I went to work and realized at that point my notifications and what not was coming through wifi and not Bluetooth because like you mine also acted as though it wasnt connected.
- factory reset
- let AW update first should go to 2.8
- disable cellular radio
- disable SIM
- DO NOT give the "phone companion?" Permissions... The app I'm referring to is the one that asks you to verify your number and address ( I don't have it my phone now because I think it only shows if your sim is enabled... my theory)
- update the remaining apps
Now it shows connected via Bluetooth and it was notifying me all day! The only thing about this is that you will not be able to call from the watch as the microphone won't work but that's really an odd use case anyways in my opinion. I just want to be able to ignore calls and now I can do that so this watch is pretty solid so far. Very happy for 50 bucks.

Gonna give this a try now...I'll report back with some, hopefully, good news. Thanks

Good luck hope it works out for you. Also I just remembered the name of the app that you don't want to configure isn't phone companion, it's "call setup". Ugh I wish it was still in my app list cause I'd just look it up.

I'm also having no mic in calls. I can hear them via the watch but they can't hear me. I'd like to get this worked out as it's nice to have while driving if the sound is good enough. I also got mine for $50 on techrabbit! To good of a deal to not grab one.
