Who's gonna leak the Soak Test? - Droid Ultra General

Would be fine by me if it was done anonymously!
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Unless I missed something, I do not believe a soak test has been announced for the Droid MAXX.

Was a soak test announced?

Those Non-Disclosure Agreements, Right?

Usually when soak tests get announced, that is post everywhere. Nothing do far.

Also just got a soak email. I've never been a part of a soak test before. So excited

it will be leaked before everyone who is officially involved in the soak test has had a chance to download it...

Yes, it is. http://sbf.droid-developers.org/

"This is a confidential test under the terms of the Motorola Feedback Network. Please do not post any details or information about this on any public sites or report it to sites that cover our industry." Lololol

With this invite just going out, I doubt anything has been pushed to testers.
Usually, that takes 5 to 7 days.

Anyone know how to capture the zip from the SOAK servers? Also the 12.15.15 obake is the current firmware out now for the ultra. I want to say the last SOAK was 3 days after the email. Got the email on Oct 28th and Halloween morning had the OTA. Lots of the rooted users had issues so if you are going to Fact reset do before you finish the survey, device reset can kick your device out of the list to get the OTA

Use a root browser and navigate to cache once it is downloaded. Copy it then upload. Easy

Ok where is the cache folder, not rooted so haven't messed around the file structure on this phone much.

Believe you need root to get to cache. Could be wrong though.

You guys do realize that you can just go sign up for the soak test, right? It's not some exclusive club.
Then you don't have to rely on others to break the confidentiality agreement and leak it.

Moto is getting ready to soak test JB!

According to droid-life.com:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/1...te-for-razr-hd-and-maxx-hd-likely-jelly-bean/
I can neither confirm nor deny if such a program exists due to agreements I may or may not have made while filling out a form that may or may not exist.
I know that the rumor is Dec 17th but I wonder if a soak test means that time frame will be moved up or not.
I may have received an email this day that may have been similar. Was kind of surprised that they asked if you're rooted and sounded pretty cool with it simply requesting that you unroot before they pick your brain. Never ran a presoak before unless you count washing my car. Usually just grab leaks once they're available but didn't want to grab the recent leak knowing official JB was right around the corner.
Here's to a great phone getting a great OS update!

Any idea as to how long it will be before the soak comes out? I tested ICS on my Bionic, and can't remember how long it was between the time I received the email and the update came to my phone.
They will send out another email when they start releasing the OTA update for the soak test.

It was only a few days after the invite email was sent that the 2nd one was sent out and, that Saturday morning it was available to install.

What the? Verizon first? Come on tmobile..
I just switched to sprint for free and sold my us cellular moto x to pay the early termination, im now the proud owner of a moto x on sprint with unlimited data, I was paying so many overages with data as I use it to tether my surface pro. When sprint gets the update can I just unlock bootloader and flash su.zip since the sprint version is available for bootloader unlock?

There is no direct causative evidence pointing to the fact that the NDA was broken and if that was why the soak test was cancelled. However, yes, the soak seems to have been cancelled.
It is plausible that the test was cancelled so that they could begin the general rollout instead; which, if true, is actually a good move by Motorola. I don't see why anyone should be angry that the soak is cancelled in light of the news of the general rollout. Once we have our hands on the update file, we can ADB sideload and profit!

Are they really going to do a soak test or are they going to skip it like they did for the VZW one? I'm still not sure why they skipped it, but I'm glad that I got it and it seems to work just fine.

The NDA pertains to the details of the soak test and not to the existence of, additionally, unless I am mistaken, I haven't agreed to an NDA yet. Furthermore, there has been threads for every soak test released and with the exception of the latest Verizon (which someone had linked to the official forums from) they have mostly gone on as scheduled.
Just curious if you posted this in every other soak test thread... There are plenty out there.

Any brave soul from USC try and successfully downgrade from KitKat back to jellybean? I've heard other carriers turning into bricks from downgrading to before the camera update, taking the camera update and bricking. Not really seeing a reason to downgrade myself. Just curious if anyone knows anything about this.

Hahahaha. It probably was one of you guys lol! I can't afford it since I have an unlocked boot loader and no warranty. So I'd be SOL. Don't want to sound like an @$$ but would rather see if anyone else survives that battle hahaha.
Sent from my XT1055 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I was smart enough to prepare ahead of time and do all of jcase's steps up to the " now go ahead and take the OTA". Is there bad things going on if you already have the 4.4 OTA and try to downgrade? I made it, root, rw, on system on 4.4 with no issues, but don't want to spread the love if its just going to breed contempt. Any info will be appreciated.
Sent from my XT1055 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
So you've downgraded yourself from 4.4 your saying? I'm not sure myself as I just said. I'm just not willing to take that plunge unless others have successfully. Again as I've heard other horror stories of other carriers bricking somehow while messing around downgrading to 4.2 from 4.4
Sent from my XT1055 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No. I was on 4.2, awaiting an OTA to 4.4. I followed the SlapMyMoto method on 4.2 up until the spot where it says " Now go ahead and take the OTA". Then I proceeded from there. I was on 4.2, did the steps up to the OTA, then waited till I could take it. Took THE OTA, then continued.
I really hope there's some hope for those who grabbed the OTA before doing their homework, I had a USCC XT901 (Electrify M) that I was able to root after the OTA that killed it for most. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I just pay attention better than some, who knows.
Just thought I'd make these files available here for anyone who might need them.

I rolled back to 4.4 tmo except I did NOT flash gpt.bin or motoboot.img. This means I can't take an OTA...
BUT I signed up for feedback or whatever on the moto forums and as soon as I cleared data, my phone is showing a software update. I don't know if this is 4.4.2. How can I tell? I'm also rooted. Someone help me out so that I can capture this. Maybe just something minor but I'm successfully on 4.4.
Edit: Don't know what the update was but it wasn't the 4.4.2. I should have gotten a soak test email which I have not received. Thankfully it didn't seem to do anything and I didn't brick it. I'm trying to capture it so that I can manually install the partitions I need. I can't do it through OTA because of my 4.4.2 bootloader.
has anyone received an invite to participate in the soak test? I signed up for the MFN a couple of days ago and have seen nothing yet.

Why wouldn't you? That shouldn't affect you getting pushed the update. Plus, being rooted, you just need to download it and use root explorer or es file manager to open the cache folder and copy the update zip! That way anything custom could also be flashed separately. My prob is that I used the UK build so my boot loader is already 4.4.2... I need the zip so I can manually flash the other parts.
