I saw some talk about this a little while back and it is a fairly easy process.
THIS WRITE UP IS NOT MY WORK.
Follow the link to the instructions.

When I got my qe was 0/0 not 0/1

The first number is 0 - not rooted, 1 - rooted, 2 - error, the second number is 0 if the phone was never rooted and 1 if the phone was at least once detected as rooted.

Right, exactly. So no offense to the op been then what is the purposed of this method? If the device still has root who care if it says "qe 0/1" in recovery if you boot it up and superuser is install and su binarys are still there? If I flash the fxz I'm no longer rooted and it will say "qe 0/1" and anyone who knows to check knows I was root and my warenty is void.

Have you ran the commands?

Nope. I have a developer edition, therefore I have warranty even if I'm rooted

Which is framing awesome sause! I highly doubt Moto would void a consumers device warranty for root as it stands now.

easy xposed mod that hides root from isis. why do you want to mess with this?

Hey there - is there any way you could take a look at the link and tell me exactly what I have to type? I'm really new at this and I don't want to mess anything up. So far I've downloaded ADP and I'm able to get a serial number when I list devices. I've also downloaded the stock firmware. Please help I'm desperate.
Thanks

Gingerbread here

Just got notification that I can upgrade android, presumably to gingerbread. Holding off, as I'm rooted.
Nexus one, in the uk.
Cool!

It's probably the FRG83D update. Unfortunately
What build are you running? If you are running FRG83D then this could be exciting news.
PS. Am on 2.2.1 now, so presume the update is... gingerbread. But I'm off to bed as its 1:30am.

D'oh. I tried to accept the update, but as I figured would happen, it didn't apply in Clockworkmod Recovery. Anyone know a good way around that?
Will the update unroot me? 2.2.1 rooted.

Att. It's working now. Took about an hour.
So just use RSD to flash this on ATT branded Atrix followed by gingerbreak?
Currently on 1.57 Gingerblur.

Yup, thats all you need to do.
If I'm on gingerblur can I just use RSd lite? Is everything going to erase?
I'm on GreyBlur 2.1. Will this work?
I'm pretty sure this is a complete wipe and reinstall so your phone will be just like when you first turned it on after unboxing.
Gingerblur and Greyblur are not compatible with 1.83 so your best bet is to flash and root and wait for an updated version or just wait and see if there is an easier upgrade method...
EDIT:
Just went through with it.... All my apps are still there, gingerblur theme/tweaks are obviously gone with all the stock moto stuff back like the dialer, keyboard, and some bloatware.

[Q] Root for Nexus 4 on 4.2.2 (Easiest Way)?

Hey guys,
I've rooted a couple of devices before (G2X, Galaxy S2, Optimus S). However, this is my first Nexus device. I'm really loving this phone and want to use it to its full potential. I'm been researching alot on how to root it but I keep seeing numerous ways and different advice. I know I have to unlock the bootloader first then install drivers. However, I've NEVER unlocked a bootloader before and I keep getting errors with installing drivers.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get flamed for asking this (Which is fine, to each his own), but would somebody please give me an easy straight forward way to root this phone? I would greatly appreciate it. So far the videos on youtube dont actually show you how its done (they only show clips of the process already done). I'm currently on stock 4.2.2 version.

thanks guys for the help!!! i really appreciate it. im loving the dev support for this device.

Slow Down Guys

I think a few of us are getting too carried away with root lol. I, myself, sure had to catch myself. Don't forget that most of us do not have a custom recovery which means if you brick your device, you'll probably have to pm the devs and if a lot of that happens, they'll end up with an even bigger inbox than before root lol but my main reason for the thread is that everybody is speaking on unlocking the bootloader but I haven't heard one word on a bump'd recovery like on the G3? Is that even possible on this phone? By the way, would it be risky if I tried the universal init.d app? Kinda wanna try L Speed on this.
Lg flash tool.
We can get custom stock roms if any dev wants to do it. We just flash the img file.

Lol who's being a "donkey"?
Only the 815EU and 811 have unlocked bootloaders hence TWRP the rest of the g4 community does not have this benefit... On the subject of bumped, pretty sure that exploit used has been closed by LG...if you guys thought root took long the wait for another BL exploit likely will be much longer. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see another one being found for a while. Seems this time around LG really wants to lock every avenue down. The next coming soon firmware update will patch the current root backdoor, also the root that vnmobile discovered seems to be patched as well, although he hasn't released any details, it could very well be the same backdoor.

How to Undo root and accept latest updates

I just got a phone back I rooted for a family member two years ago solely for the purpose of obtaining hotspot. It has stock rom.
What info can I give you that will enable you to point me in the right direction to uproot and sell without issue?
I've been away from this kind of of stuff for a couple of years.

Thanks for the tip, just now getting around to it.
Are you saying to go to the firmware section and download the latest firmware?
Isn't there something I have to check , like making sure the PDA matches my baseband version or something?
