[Q] Disable Softkeys on KITKAT 4.4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can some one show me how to disable just the soft keys on the nexus 4 running kitkat.
in 4.3 i was able to accomplish by using different apps like Fullscreen Mod and AUTO HIDE SOFT keys app.
There is HIDEBAR app which is hiding both notification bar and softkeys
Thanks in advance

I use fullscreen on 4.4

Is the full screen app available on the play store?

I actually used this and it works.

Does fullscreen really work on 4.4?
It used to work well on my N4 4.3, but after the 4.4 update, it does not work any more on my N4.
AUTO HIDE SOFT does not work either.

It hasn't been updated for kitkat.
Install LMT launcher from here(2.0RC5): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
then add this line to the end of your build.prop:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Then reboot and you'll have pie controls.

I use the paid root version of GMD Gesture control. It works fine, however, you will lose wallpaper while screen is in expanded mode if you are using the GEL launcher. It returns upon exiting & aside from that, all gesture features work fine. I prefer it because of the problem of PIE popping up & closing the app when swiping at the edge during game play.

I bought Auto Hide Soft Keys, because I really like edge swiping (got used to it on my Surface). Works great. It does require root, though.

One awesome improvement in 4.4 is that the "3 dots" menus still show, even with the soft navbar hidden. I used to be forced to use an Xposed module for that. Lucky that 4.4 fixed it as Xposed doesn't work anymore!

Using Google expierence launcher! With gravity box to make the status bar and navigation bar clear, and also to make status bar icons white. I also use HD widgets. Also have wallpaper changer that changes my wallpaper ever hour or so!!
I went for a one page home in Action Launcher. The header texts are images in desktop visualizer, the lines are rows of minuses in minimalistic text widget. The data under "home" is from Dashclock widget.
Icon theme is Stamped Black.

Hi potalifs .... .... Your screenshot is showing "Viper4Android". I want to know after installing the V4A mod, does it replace NVIDIA's audio processing libraries? ( This tablet has something called "NVIDIA Pure Audio" ). I want to install this V4A mod because when I play ".mkv" movies the sound sometimes is low even at 100%. I have previously used this mod on my other mobile phone and the "eXtra Loud" option works perfectly.

I had posted on V4A official thread, and one person replied that V4A works in conjunction with system/Nvidia libraries. Also I found on Viper's blog about including V4A in a ROM, and it instructs to "Add" some libs and some line in "audio.conf" file....... I like the vocal sounds produced by TN7 very very much, the sound feels sooo real and accurate!!! ( That must be something related to Nvidia's Audio processing/decoding libs,....That's why I asked this question )
... ...
Where is "Sound Settings > Music Effects" in our TN7 OR it is not there in KitKat/4.4.2?

I have "Xolo Play Tegra Note ( From Xolo India )". I have updated the tab to the latest android version through OTA. But I don't have the "Music Effects" option under "Settings -> Sound" . There is only "Volume" option . Does this "Music Effects" option appear after rooting and then installing Viper4Android or it is already there?... ... I have not rooted the tab. Will this "Music Effects" option appear after rooting??

Screen overlay detected

Good evening. I have a big problem with the issue "screen overlay detected".
I can't use a large number of apps, because when I start them, this window appear and I can only exit from the app.
Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance

It's a compatibility bug with MM and one of the apps your already using. Basically if you use an app that has screen overlay (Pie Control control for example) you need to turn that app off before you can install the app your trying to use. Then you can turn the app back on that uses screen overlay

New to S8 - how to remove keyboard icon in Navbar?

Wondering if anyone has figured out a way to remove the keyboard icon in bottom right of Navigation bar / navbar when typing?
Previously on the pixel and past oneplus phones installing multiple keyboards did this but it seems permanent with s8. What's strange is that I don't have any other keyboards installed other than what samsung pre-installed...
I have the standard s8 keyboard plus a Samsung Keyboard Neural Beta and then Samsung voice search.
Any ideas?
I'd like to know this too. I hate the navbar under the keyboard but i think it's impossible to hide. I hope they'll solve in a future update

This did it. Strange though, with AOSP you are able to set a default and this icon wont show. I ended up disabling them via package disabler, FWIW.
Any way to remove navigation bar while the keyboard is open?
