It hasn't been updated for kitkat.
Install LMT launcher from here(2.0RC5): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
then add this line to the end of your build.prop:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Then reboot and you'll have pie controls.

I use the paid root version of GMD Gesture control. It works fine, however, you will lose wallpaper while screen is in expanded mode if you are using the GEL launcher. It returns upon exiting & aside from that, all gesture features work fine. I prefer it because of the problem of PIE popping up & closing the app when swiping at the edge during game play.

I bought Auto Hide Soft Keys, because I really like edge swiping (got used to it on my Surface). Works great. It does require root, though.

One awesome improvement in 4.4 is that the "3 dots" menus still show, even with the soft navbar hidden. I used to be forced to use an Xposed module for that. Lucky that 4.4 fixed it as Xposed doesn't work anymore!

It does, I'm using it right now. Make sure you are using the 2.0 rc5 beta version.

pie controls from this thread works perfectly on 4.4 Nexus 7 2k13
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454531
that in conjunction with the build prop line.

LMT
Try this one it works great. I am using right now with Kit Kat 4.4 Rooted with CleanROM LE 2.1. I have also used it on stock Kit Kat too.

GMD Gesture control is far better than the other options (honey bar and hide bar). In fact, I think the dev initially wrote the program for this tablet.
Yep, GMD is the best, tried several apps and this is the most stable and customisable

GMD GestureControl fix for ICS
You have to install BusyBox from market (look for some BusyBox installer) if StatusBar hiding is not working after upgrade to ICS. I'm working on solution that would not require BusyBox.

Installed BusyBox and GMD is able to hide the StatusBar now, but for some reason it wipes my wallpaper in the process. Any ideas?

This is known issue on ICS. Static image wallpaper is running on same process as status bar. So when I kill status bar process image wallpaper is killed too. I cannot fix this with current status bar hiding approach.
Workaround for this is to use Live wallpaper (you can try Simple Image wallpaper from market).
status bar
I have downloaded busybox also. Installed lite version of urs. But status bar dont hide!
Using ics on my galaxy tab 7.7. Need help. Othergestures works very well nice jobb. I cant buy it if i cant hide status bar.

Open GMD settings, scroll down and try selecting "Use BusyBox" checkbox (last option). I still have to update my P6800 to ICS and try it myself. Then I will look for solution that would not require BusyBox install.
Note that my main focus is gestures and status bar hiding is just one experimental action that still has issues. Please check custom gestures or LaunchPad for more actions.
Yea working fine.. Using custom ^^

Updated to version 2.2.5. Should work without requiring BusyBox install.
Thanks! I gotta say, this is a must-have app for me. I would like to see Android Central feature this app so you can get the support you deserve.

I'm sure I have seen it mentioned on either Android Central or Android Police a while ago. Though I agree it should get some more attention. Especially with the effort StupidIdea goes to to support it.
Update 2.2.5a:
Code snippet for testing new feature sneaked into market that would put overlay on screen and make device unresponsive if vibrate on gesture is turned on. Fixed.

Anyway to hide the black home bar?

I was just curious if there is anyway to hide the black home/back bar at the bottom of the screen? Is there any kind of option to hide it until you tap at the bottom and make it appear? Thanks.

Not with the stock ROM. Some custom roms have this type of feature available though (usually it's a toggle in the Power menu).

You can easily hide it on a stock rom with a build.prop edit. Just add qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to your build.prop and reboot. Then you have no more navigation bar. You'll need to use something like LMT launcher (here at xda) or Button Savior (in play store) to have the home, recent, back, etc functions (easiest to set up BEFORE rebooting after editing build.prop ).

You can do this, but it's not exactly what the op was looking for. He wants to be able to hide and show the bar at will.
You can use GMD Hidebar or GMD GestureControl to hide the navbar.

Hey, you can use HideBar http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/ to hide the navigation bar.

How Do I Hide the Software Keys?

I want to use PIE control instead. Is there some kind of build.prop mod or something that hides the nav bar?
Might be worth going for a custom ROM that has PIE. All you then have to do is switch to Expanded Desktop and there you have it!?
You'll find many ROMs that do PIE. There is also a launcher that does that, it's called LMT Launcher. You will find it here on XDA.

I don't want to flash a whole new ROM. I just want the PIE control and nav bar removal. PIE control has a Play Store app so I don't need to flash that but I know there has to be some kind of simple mod to remove the nav bar.
Ah, ok, didn't realize there was an app for it.
How about this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970

It seems to force tablet UI, but the nav bar still remains. I know there was a way to make the nav bar appear for the Note 2 so there has to be a way to hide the nav bar for the Nexus 7.
download LMT launcher, it's been around longer than PIE has and doesn't require any specific rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
you can go into google playstore and search for PieControl Pro. There is a free version and a pro version for $1.99

So can this hide the nav bar?
Flash ParanoidAndroid ROM it has built in PIE navigation in Quick Settings so when you tap on it your navigation bar hides and PIE control activates and if you are worried about Tablet UI you can turn it off any time you want. =)

are you on the stock rom? not sure if LMT can hide the navigation menu. you may as well just flash any other rom since almost every other rom lets you hide the navigation menu anyways. LMT is also way more customizable than PIE.
At the end of build prop add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Save and exit, I don't believe it works on stock rom though but I could be wrong.
I use this on roms that don't have it built in navbar hide built in, and I use lmt launcher, because I prefer it to pie.

[Q][KK-Stock] Disable Navigation and enable Pie Control [SOLVED]

Does anybody know how to get rid of this "Slide Up Menu" (Navigation Bar Ring)?
I want to use my LMT pie control, but this thing mapped bottom area for self. I cannot find any settings for it and I have no idea from which app it comes from yet.
(Please ignore that black rectangle at then bottom of screenshot, it is not related to it)
Edit: I solved it by creating own Xposed mod.
I have another question regarding this. Sorry for hijacking.
Is it possible to add your own shortcuts to this Slide up? And remove Google?
Thank you!

It's probably possible, it would just take some work. Check out Slide Launcher, it does what you want.

Well, looks like there is no setting for it. At least nobody replied.
I begin to look into source code and I will do Xposed mod for it. Begin with disable it. Manage shortcuts should be possible too.

Don't think that would work, because it doesn't disable ring but just replaces it with app that does nothing. This annoying ring is only reason why I don't move to stock kitkat roms.. Can't use pie.

Word.
We really need a fix for this.
Progress Update
I made Xposed mod and get rid of this navigation ring (search ring) now.
However LMT still not works, at least not everytime. I got few times luck, but mostly no reaction.
What do you guys using for Pie control? LMT as well?

Well I managed to disable ring with g2 tweakbox xposed. But it was same as you describe, pie works rarely from bottom screen border. Tried Lmt and pie in gravity box.

Success !!!!
Finally I made it work! :victory:
Now I have:
- hidden navigation bar
- disabled navigation ring
- LMT works perfect from the bottom on 100%
I made own Xposed mod to fix that.
I guess I don't need to ask if you guys want it as well, right?
Please wait one more day. I will clean it up and release new mod for you.

Guide: Getting rid of the navigation bar with out compromising usabilty!

Hey guys, I've found a awsome way to use the s8 without navbar at all! You will have swipe gesture from the bottom of the screen in the same order like there's a navbar with recent, home and back button.
all you need is to install a app called swipe navigation from the play store and give it accessibilty permission install the navbar Disabler (I I'll give the link) and the swipe navigation unlocker on the play store(costs money but definatly worth it).
config the app as you like then just restart your phone.
heres a video for demonstration.

Im using it. Is it me or response time is slower than pressing nav buttons?
If i want to get the navbar back i just delete the app or what?
You can use LMT Launcher as well. I've been using it for years and it always works great. Swipe up from the bottom and you have your buttons. You can customize it however you want to. Here's a screenshot of how I have mine set up.
