Welcome post!
Hi,
First of all welcome to this thread. I wanted to be the first poster in this Q&T thread, especially created and dedicated to my ROM thread, to show my appreciation to be able being a part of this.. I want to thank @Robbie P, and of course the entire Q&T Team (all of them are RC's), to make this possible.
Now a little word about the goal of this specific Q&T thread:
"goal of this specific thread is to clean up my development ROM thread with Off Topic posts. These kind of posts will ,with this especially created Q&T thread , redirected to this new Q&A/T thread. With Off Topic post we, @Robbie P and I, mean posts that are not directly ROM development related, e.g. I want to use ths ROM, how to install it or can I use this app with this ROM,etc. @Robbie P and I will be monitoring my ROM thread for these kind of posts and ask the poster kindly to move his post to this thread. We hope that after a certain amount of time this will be self-sustaining and becoming a normal thing to do.
Many thanks to @Robbie P and the entire Q&T team,

What's DirectSD??
DirectSD: work same NativeSD, but it must use 2 EXT4 partitions. 1st EXT4 Partition will creat new a folder with name to be DirectSystem and it's "System". 2nd EXT4 Partition will creat new a folder with name to be DirectData and it's "Data". You should use 4EXT4 Recovery to repartition that will help you to create 2 EXT4 Partitions.
Partitioning SD card with ext4
5. Boot into 4ext recovery from MAGLDR (by choosing ADrecovery) you will see menu from 4ext which is quite similar to CWM recovery.
6. Go to "advance" > "partition SD card" > "Remove all partition and start from scratch"
Select the size of for 1st partition (Choose greater than 1024MB) (This will be the size of system partition)
Select the size of for 2nd partition (Choose greater than 1024MB) (This will be the size of data partition)
Select the size of for swap partition (if you don't want use SWAP partitions, Choose "Skip") then it will start formating and ask you what format do you want to format sdext.
Choose for format "EXT4" and Let it complete formating
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
How to manage DirectSD ROM??
- You can use Manager DirectROM app to manage DirectSD ROM. It will include in ROM, you can "change ROM", "Delete ROM" and "Reboot" in Manager DirectROM app
Note: change rom only work with Magldr
- You can manager DirectSD & NativeSD by Recovery with ManagerSDROM_v1.0.zip. You can Delete, Backup, Restore, ...

[HOW TO] An easy way to fastboot to enable Swap

There is a lot of way to fastboot the fjfalcons' boot.img
But i will explain the simplest way for me.
I figure after that the soft i m using to fastboot is in french only... So sorry for the others but you just have 2click you have to do in this soft so even in french, everybody can make it...
1. Installation of EasyAdbTool
So first you have to download and install this small soft: EasyAdbTool
It simplify the process to use adb (Android Debug Bridge) to communicate between the PC and the Android Phone.
When EasyAdbTool is installed you have to extract the archive EasyAdbToolXDAPack I attached to this post in the folder where you installed the soft (c:\program files\easyadbtool )
(it contains the boot.img from fjfalcons and the fastboot script i take in the android sdk. We are putting all in the root of the folder app so you don t have to move in the folder to lauch it)
2. Fastboot
Now you just have to plug you phone (in USB debogging mode without it can t work).
Launch EasyAdbTool you will have this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You click on the first button I circle (in the top left) : "Redémarrer en Bootloader" that s mean: " reboot in bootloader mode"
Your phone reboot in bootloader.
Now you have to click the second button circle (in the bottom right) : "Taper ma propre commande" that s mean "enter my own cmd"
Now you will enter in the terminal.
Here all you have to do is to type:
fastboot boot boot.img
You press enter and that s it!
Your phone will reboot and you must have this in the terminal:
3. Thanks.... (just a joke...)

But your app boot in one click from the bootloader??? (So it just lauch the fastboot boot.img) or you have to be in bootloader first?

You need to have your partitions on your SD card set up in this order (FAT, Ext2or 3 or 4, then Swap)

The ext partition is really up to you. I have had one about 500mb and really felt that it was too much and wasted space. My current is about 350mb. I have about 60+/- apps and it is only about half full. If you are jsut starting this, my suggestion is to split the difference and go with about 400mb and see how you like it. Might find that later on you need more or less and by then, you will have more of this stuff under your belt to make that decision based on your needs.
Swap on the other hand is debatable. Some say it should be twice as big as your RAM +1. So if your RAM is 256 the your swap should be 513mb (256+256+1). Others say that it is fine if at or around 90-100mb since it is really just an overflow for static RAM when you are running a heavy RAM hungry app.
Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219050
Also might want to check with B_E_N and LibertyMonger as they use swap quite a bit.

Also note that the x2+1 is advice from old multi-user systems. If you're swapping that much on your phone, you might as well use an abacus IMHO.

I couldn t say better!
I haver 513mb of swap and 1gb of ext (i haver a 16 gb card so i don t care if i waste a little... )
But i recommand ext4 if your rom support it (just the last cyano 6.3 or the last hellmonger ones on the last news...) a lot faster...

it is expected to loose all your data when you're flashing a custom rom over a stock one. Wiping is required cause you'll end up with a messedup phone.

It just aborts the installation at the first load, which means I cant really wipe stuff after its installed?

Re-Partition Internal Sdcard for App Instaallation Space

App for repartitioning your phone's internal memory.
Meteos MTK6589 ROM EDIT
This app will allow you to change your phone's data partition size.
Since most people have a MicroSD card for storing their files on, the internal sdcard is just a waste of space and can be put to good use for storing apps.
This app allows you to do so.
Requirements:
Xolo Q700/Q700i
Root access
A custom recovery
YOU ARE DOING THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK
(Although no serious harm can be done when correctly using this tool)
Instructions:
Make a backup of your files in your recovery (if you want to preserve them) and make sure they are stored on the external sdcard.
Download, install and start the Meteos app for your specific ROM size and choose your desired Data partition size.
Press "Reboot into Recovery" and choose "'Wipe data/Factory Reset" on CWM or Wipe internal storage on TWRP.
Restore your backup.
Profit.

there s no 4 gb file, u just have to download a,small file 64 kb or something, just download thd apk file, the apk file is different for 4gb,8gb,16gb,32gb rom phones, if u are using a 4 gb rom phone, like our q700/q700i/q800, u have to dl meteos app for 4 gb rom,
and you only have to download one small file.
not able to download the english version for 4gb phone. I downloaded the foreign language version. Here is it attached.
Noticed two major problem here.
After re-partitioning using the tool, when you go to the recovery and factory reset, it throws an error that it cannot umount emmc and then the phone is looked in boot, doesn't start at all. AFter this, you need to flash Q700i rom and start from scratch.
However, if you wipe Data, the phone does start but it still gives the error that it cannot umount emmc.
Any help here.
It works perfectly bro, in recovery u jst have to factory reset only and reboot. Also, u must hv q700i stock rom installed.

I am also facing the problem of internal storage /emmc not mounting. In storage in android settings I only see sdcard. No internal storage option.
how to revert back to original if in case?

Hello,everyone.
I am simply sharing this with others! All the credit goes to the person who made this build!
The original thread is HERE(if you cant enter the page,turn on VPN as US,and it will work)
I reuploaded the build because one had to make several chinese accounts in order to download the rom at only 200 kb/s,which was extremely bothersome and time-consuming.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Wipe Dalvik,System,Data and Cache
2.Flash the rom(it will most likely fail)
3.Reboot the recovery
4.Flash the rom again,without previously wiping anything(wiping directly before flashing it will cause errors while installing,for unknown reasons)
5.Flash this boot.img(the stock one boots only on 1806 variant):https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911971047
6.Reboot,and let the system fully boot
7.Boot into recovery
8.Flash Gapps
9.Reboot

Nice!! Going to flash now!
EDIT: ROM works flawlessly, very snappy. I didn't flash the boot.img because my phone would go into a bootloop. ROM works fine without it at least for my device(6045O)
Thanks @The Marionette.
Where is an issue with popup dialog box: background is dark and text too, it's difficult to read.
Whe have to debloat chinese apps and install Playstore.
Installation of open-gapps 5.1.1 work but can't connect to google account.

Yeah,I do not know why Google Play Services wont work with Flyme...
As for the black dialog boxes:It is a bug in the framework,and the maker of the Flyme build for the Idol 3 said that he will fix it asap.

Tried to flash the rom from external sdcard with TWRP but encountered a mount error. Any advice?
Note: appears the error doesn't affect the installation. Nevermind.

To fix google account and apps install under playstore, you have to comment line in build.prop BEFORE install gapps.
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint= blablabla
just add # at the begin like this:
Code:
#ro.build.fingerprint= blablabla
and then, install open-gapps 5.1.
it work fine for all regions
For better battery lifetime, you can take ramdisk from Flyme and Arde Dev CM zImage.
