Question. First android device and I'm trying to set up exchange email and I get a message saying that my device doesn't support SD card encryption which is enforced by my company's IT department. Does this bypass that requirement as well?

The pin bypass didn't work for you?

Worked for me. Might want to mention if you are on stock you will need to rename the odex files as well.

Please also be aware that this could be in direct violation of your companies corporate email/ActiveSync policies.
it's very important that you are aware of this, and that you understand any potential consequences of violating those policies.
I just wanted to point that out as an Exchange Admin.

Do these suffer from the same Exchange sync bug as the stock 4.4 Email/Exchange apps? Or is only the PIN requirement modified.

I haven't had any issues with my exchange account. I do have it set to sync every hour though not push.

Very true. That being said I am in no way responsible if anyone gets fired, suspended, etc.....

Pin Bypass worked fine for me.
Bypassing the encryption etc. didn't work though.
However I was able to resolve this problem by moving to MailDroid Pro.
This app gives me no calendar though *sigh* The only feature I wanted to use, as I don't care about corporate mails on my private phone but like to get a reminder on appointments. I heard the dev is working on it. Let's see if it's showing up any time soon.

Sync and auto discovery is completely broken in 4.4
Good to know it works on manual

Backup your current email and exchange apks including their odexed files and push these to system/app, set permissions, and reboot. Detailed process below.
Exchange2Google.apk - 1.12 MB
EmailGoogle.apk - 4.81 MB
You need to be rooted and a root access file explorer like Root Explorer to complete this process.
Code:
1. Backup existing Email & Exchange apks in system/app.

Is there an odex version? Just curious if it will cause issues with ART if people start enabling it and run this.

I don't have one . Maybe someone else could make it.

Hi, any difference between this mod and the mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749921 ?
Thanks

nevermind.. odexing failed

Used the other one in post 17 and that worked didn't have to mod the odex files to back them up. Not sure why it worked with that mod over this one maybe I did something wrong the first time.

[MOD] Sense 3.0 Mail.apk with exchange pin security disabled

Alright kids, after much trial and error, here is a working Sense 3.0 Mail.apk with exchange pin security disabled for those who hate entering a pin every time they want to unlock their phone.
Other Sense 3.0 ROMs have successfully cracked their Mail.apks to get around this, but none of them ever worked properly with the Thunderbolt... but our wait is finally over
I made sure to mod the apk to disable ONLY the pin security while leaving all other security measures intact
INSTRUCTIONS (it's also never a bad idea to make a nandroid backup first):
For the Mail.apk
1) Download the attached Mail.apk
2) Mount the system as R/W (either using Root Explorer or 'adb remount')
3) Copy the new Mail.apk to system/app via root explorer and overwrite the older file when it asks, or push the file to system/app via adb
4) Set permissions as rw-r--r--
5) Reboot
6) After reboot, open up the Mail app and set up your exchange account all the way through naming the account, then hit 'Finish Setup'
7) You will be prompted to enable security policy... this is normal so hit 'OK'
8) You will get to another screen asking you to activate security policies... again, this is normal so select 'Activate'. From here on out you will never be prompted to enter a pin
9) Profit!
For the PatchedMail.zip
1) Download the .zip and toss it on your SD card
2) Reboot into CWM
3) WIPE DALVIK-CACHE!!! (Won't work properly if you don't do this)
4) Install the .zip then reboot
5) Follow steps 6-9 above
If you have issues, try clearing dalvik-cache when installing
NOTE: This only works with Sense 3.0, it will not work if trying to flash over the Sense 2.0/1 Mail.apk. And yes, this IS working on Gingerbread ROMs
Enjoy!
Love it! Too bad I am running the ofmgb ROM

Where can I get this for a non sense ROM?

Does this app have both security check-box options that come in the stock Email.apk app?
"Use secure connection (SSL)"
"Accept all SSL certificates"
I need both checked (and available) to access my work exchange server, and the Sense MAIL.apk doesn't include the latter check box, for some kooky reason.
Thanks!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I've been waiting for this for a while. I was using Touchdown but that sucks, lol. Thanks again.

This is still the Sense Mail.apk, I just edited the smails in the apk to return the pin security whenever the app requests it. You won't gain any new functionality with this mod so the 'use secure ssl' option is still the only one that shows up
Do you know if this apk can be used on an Evo 4G with Gingerbread? The Sense 3.0 mail that comes with the Evo 3D is the only one that can do push Hotmail in HTML (other than TouchDown). Thanks.
Thank you so much!
Will this also fix the problem I have with not having Exchange emails pushed as frequently as they are on Froyo?

I don't see how. This just circumvents the pin or password policy pushed by exchange admins.
I just wanna throw this out there for some people.
PLEASE KNOW/UNDERSTAND your security policies at work, using this mod could/may be grounds for termination or civil penalties by your Employer.
Is anyone having problems with the setting for HTML emails as default sticking? It will stay for a bit but then later in the day it will be on plain text.

Sorry for the dumb question. What is the difference between the Mail.apk and PatchedMail.apk?
Im guessing that Mail.apk replaces the native app while PatchedMail.apk patches the native app. Is that right?
thanks,
Scott
I finally tried mail.apk with my Tbolt running NonS3ns3. First, the list of mail providers was blank when the app first started. I was able to select the 1st slot which was the one for AES. Then I got a forced closed when I tried to configure my Exchange server.
I thought NonS3ns3 was a Sense ROM and that the modified mail.apk would work.
Any suggestions?
Switched to BAMF Forever 1.0.6 ROM and was able to use this modded mail.apk package.

I've been unsuccesfull getting this installed on BAMF 1.0.6. I get a force close before even attempting to launch the app. I've wiped cache and delvik to no avail.
Did you use the .apk file or the flashable zip? did you have to fix permissions?
I've tried both of the above

You have to delete your Mail database. Try Titanium Backup and use it to delete the data for the app.

Delete current gmail account

Hi, im asking me if its possible to delete or at least deactivate the current used gmail account on android so that it goes local?
Using ICS v1.0 by Tytung.

There are two ways:
1. Wipe your phone
2. Push framework-res from your original rom zip via adb with right permission
For both ways making backup is highly recommended!
I just need to switch between local and gmail acc (if i need it).
So, there is no other way then using one of your two options.
If i push the orig framework to my current installation and replace them.. what will be the changes? Excepting as you said the removed google account..

How To Disable - Exchange Security policy ?

I want to bypass exchange security policy on my phone when I configure my office mail.
Is there any MOD or any ROM which has this feature built in?
If none, then can anyone help me mod the relevant apk's to achieve the same?
I was on Omega ROM on my S3 earlier which had this feature.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I was thinking the same, since I had to activate device admin, which options just like the ones in Cerberus or any antitheft app
Although not the same as the built in support, I prefer to use "TouchDown for Smartphones" as the security options are more limited to this app, rather than the phone OS. In my case, my company can only "remote wipe" the data in the app, leaving the rest of my phone data alone. It also has many features not available with the native client and better support for Exchange 2010.
This works, see link at bottom, I'm using it fine on 4.2.1 so ignore comments....I've been running it on aokp since start, see my SIG for versions
It patches your email and exchange2 apks means you can use swipe unlock and widgets on lock screen, for example I use face unlock
You must still accept companies security policy it's just not enforced.
I did it once and saved the patched apks to /sdcard and now after every new ROM flash i simply copy the saved patched apk into /system/app and then wipe dalvik. Best to remove and re-add the exchange account after each ROM update prior to overwriting files.

[Q] running 4.4 kitkat googleemail.apk on s4

hi,
i've downloaded 4.4 googleemail.apk and installed it on my s4. However, running it fc's. Catlog shows entries about cannot create cache directory, cannot open email db, etc.
Why doesn't it simply work? Is there anything else that needs to be done.

yes it does. I also disabled the existing Email app, but it was working even before doing that.
when I opened it for the first time, I was greeted with the "add new account tutorial" and had to re-add my exchange account. as the tutorial launched new activities to take me through the process, I was asked to pick a "default" app because they changed the package name from com.android.email to com.google.android.email (which explains why I had to add my account again, they can't share storage). I know this is probably a stupid question, but you're definitely using the right package?
for what it's worth, I'm running some 4.3.1-based unofficial build of paranoid android on the jfltevzw variant of the S4.

App Mail

Hi all,
which mail program used ??
I'm looking for a way to install a K-9 mail because i can't install!
Do you have suggestions ?
Thanks guys!
I've installed CM12.1 temporarily and extracted the Email.apk and Exchange2.apk. Works fine with OxygenOS after uninstalling the preinstalled Exchange Services (system app, so root access needed).
Using AquaMail for a long time now, works great on Oxygen too, including Exchange support. It has a paid version though if you want to use more than four Mail accounts.
Tried em all..Boxer on CM is great, but on Oxygen, Nine is the way to go imo

No, normal install by launching the apk (having enabled 'Unknown sources' in security settings).
Ok THX.
My absolute favorite mail is Type Mail, or the other version with a different name, icon and notification: Blue Mail. Exact same app, just those aesthetic slightly differences.
It's free in the app store and can handle multiple accounts and has a dark mode with some theme options. Very nice.
