LG G2 major grips - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For me, major grips are:
Stock browser without text reflow or text wrap (replaced with baidu browser, only problem is it redirects me to youtube mobile instead of youtube app)
Bad autofocus in camera (blurry photos) (still waitinf for development fix)
Pressure gap in battery cover (fixed).
Don´t remember anything else...

Yeah, I thought the camera would be much better than it really is... It's not that bad after the modded camera installation, but still there's room for improvement.
Another issue is with the flaky auto-brightness algorithm, to bad to be usable.
But the most important flaw for me is the lack of memory expansion!
But all in all, this is the best smartphone I've used so far. Much MUCH better than any Samsung out there.

I find the phone to have very little grip. It's always slipping out of my hand.

Love the device so far and its my first LG device.
Dont like:
Not being able to have transparent nav bar with live wallpapers and in apps.
Front LED does not work for sms or email which is all i use it for.
Granted the second one might just be me not knowing how to enable but ive tried everything Including xposed and apps.

I use Light Flow Lite with no problems on assigning different colors for different kinds if notifications. No root needed. You should try it.

grippy gripes
i agree why do they make these little costly monsters so slippery
my note 2 was like an eel
i put a nilken semi phone case ( textured back) on mine as soon as i got it
makes the phone a little bigger but better than picking it up off the floor ......

Screen Too Bright? Screen Filter!

Found this app the other day and can't believe I went this long without it!
Screen Filter. It's free from the marketplace. It tones down your brightness significantly under the lowest setting in TouchWiz.
I used to keep sunglasses next to my bed for sleepy-time Reddit browsing, but not any more!
Here's an A-B for you non believers. First photo is at lowest brightness setting in TouchWiz. Second photo is at 34.1% brightness (toggled by Screen Filter widget)

I also use the shortened led buttons mod found in the dev forum and it makes for a much better experience.

The blurb about the app in the market states that it saves battery on s-amoled displays... Can't vouch for that myself, but I haven't noticed any increase of battery usage while using my phone in the dark .

Brightness slider on the notification bar

The GS1 and GS2 had the ability to adjust the screen brightness by sliding your finger across the notification bar. I've seen that in some GS3 custom roms, this feature was added. You had the ability to toggle this feature on or off under a certain subsetting in settings.
Is there a way to add this feature without loading a custom rom? I use it every day on my Epic. Thanks
I really miss this option also!
I think the only way we will be able to get this back is through a custom ROM.

not on stock rom =(
This feature alone will drive me to a custom ROM, but only after the capability to wipe flash counter and go back to stock, in case of warranty need.

Why is this site especially so washed out?!

Anyone else have this? Like really washed out text.
Are you using the app from the play store? Or the browser? There's different skins for both. Also there's the tapatalk app, which the xda app is based on.
But XDA has a free app.

I love the design of this device... it was to be almost perfect for me. However the screen sucks. Its washed out and text is not any clearer than my wife's nook. I'm thinking mine is a defective one. It has minor light bleed but more or less flush screen. No creaking... the left has a little more give but good otherwise. My USB port clicks firmly but it has some wobble. The device itself stutters a lot, even after a data reset. My biggest problem is that the screen becomes utterly unresponsive after a few minutes of use. I sent an email rather than call. If i don't get an RMA in a couple days I'll call in as well. I'm very disappointed. Want to love this device but I can't.

Yes, washed out text on my ASUS Infinity tf700! The only site that is like this is xda
The text is nice and clear when i logout though. I hope the site coders will fix.
in the browser, change the xda theme to xda 2010(bottom left) and itll solve the washed out look on your nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 display is calibrated very bad...
Especially greens and whites are washed out and white-saturation is very bad too!
So N7 can´t display different white and grey nuances - they look all white or washed out.
I think google/asus will never fix it...
This has nothing to do with the calibration of the N7 screen. It's because the 2013 theme doesn't "play nice" with mobile browsers. If you choose the Classic or 2010 theme at the bottom left of the screen it will work fine.
Can you post a screenshot? I'm curious if it will show up in there. If it is just in how the Nexus 7 renders the site, there isn't much to do about that. As others have said, you can either choose another theme (lower left-hand corner) or use the XDA app.

JavaScript related.. if you remove javascript in the browser settings than it works fine. but then the quick links pull downs dont work and things cease to function correctly. I contacted simms about the same thing the OP is talking about and that was the only other solution than going back to the horrid 2010 theme.
That same thing happen to me after I installed the eclipse logo in my signature. I had to ditch the logo to get the screen back to normal.
I had this foggy look when I browsed XDA on Dolphin Browser too, I assumed it was done so XDA could discourage us from browsing and to use their app instead.

Lg g2 and gmail

Has anyone noticed their Gmail app doesn't seem set up correctly for this screen?
When selecting emails to delete the Blue highlight seems to cover the top bar. Also it seems to not fully register when selecting multiple emails.

Yeah, I noticed that too, strange little bug.
I noticed that today!
But what's even worst is that if I setup Gmail as a widget either on the lockscreen or launcher, it makes my G2 so unstable to the point of starting to lag and eventually self reboot!
If I take the gmail widget's down, all seems normal again.
What app are people using instead if any.

Did anyone try the aspect ratio corrections settings in display? LG was pretty awesome by putting a fix for apps that dont display correctly. Try that with the Gmail.. Should work.. LG was already on the ball with this.

Sweet-ass app!

This app is really cool. It rounds the corners of the screen and makes things look pretty damn nut-sweatingly glorious. It's called roundr, found it on the store today:

Update: Just ticked "overlap status bar"
Dear sir:
As you may be aware of, due to recent litigation against Samsung USA, the courts have upheld Apple's patent on rounded corners in all present and future mobility devices. We respectfully request that you do not download, distribute or promote the use of anything that produces rounded corners with anything other than an Apple approved device. Failure to comply will result in a multitude of rabid, foaming Apple fanboys being sent to correct the issue.

Use a third party launcher they will have a black bar, at least that's how it is on my Nexus 4 running 4.4.
Or if you have a Nexus 4 and running custom rom or Xposed modules, you can set the status bar and navbar to be transparent, switch to a third party launcher, and blacklist that launcher using RoundR Extrensions, of course you'll lose the Okay Google in the process.
The app's blacklisting the Google launcher itself doesn't work right now.
This app is pretty awesome! If only the notification could do something useful like battery life or something and if it worked with the transparent bottom nav bar I would totally keep it!
This app works great when opening apps, and the status/nav bars turn black. The dev should have the option not to enable on homescreen and only activate when apps are open. (if its possible) then this would be a beauty.
