Anyone got AT&T hotspot auto login to work? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an AT&T SGS4 and their bloatware makes me sick but their feature that automatically logs you in to AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots is nice. Has anyone got that to work on a Nexus 7?
Would also like to get it to work on s Nexus 5 but that is for another day.
Thanks.

[Q] t-mobile for calls and another service for data

Is anyone using T-mobile for making calls only, no data and using a different service for data?
I am wanting to use T-mobile for my phone calling service but I want to use my hotspot/modem for wifi as it always goes with me and I am already getting a good deal on it. So I am looking to see if anyone has done this. When I talk to T-mobile they say that their pay as you go has no data but I am wondering if there is any way for T-mobile to interfere with my wifi hotspot/modem. BTW I am new to smart phones.
No you can do that. Just have your Nexus 4 connected to the WiFi hotspot all the time and you will be fine. It won't interfere with your cellular connection for phone calls and messaging

This will work. I did this when I used a phone that didn't have T-Mobile bands.

Tether stopped working

I got the nexus Monday and put in cyanogen mod now when I tether I'm getting the up sell page for hotspot any ideas?

That's because you didn't buy the hotspot feature for your phone. The page will continue to pop up to tell you to add and pay for the feature to continue tethering.

Poppycock. OP, just get Firefox and get the extension that allows you to change your user agent. Once tmobile sees a mobile device they will allow tethering.
Google is your friend.

Wifi tether for rooted users

Has anyone got this apk to work for the note 3? Is It Possible? I just want a tether apk that tells me the amount of data that's being used and this one is the only one I know of that does that correctly.

What one?

Which one? I can only get the native to work on my note three bypassing it with the hotspot toggle switch widget found on the market, but I rather use the a different one like open garden. but I have no luck making it work.
The apk wifi tether for rooted users. I used it on my Nexus

I found you can use wifi tether in native tether mode, but it resets the hot spot settings to default every time you turn it on. I, too, would like it to work properly because I like seeing how much data I use and the network speed.

Really? You got it working?

Is there any risk in using native tether app? I am coming from tmobile, where they'd hassle you to get a tethering plan.

I don't think so. I use it pretty regularly without issues.

N7 LTE and calling. Yes😀

So I remember T-Mobile rolled out WiFi calling. I downloaded Google hangouts dialer and tried the calling feature.
First I connected through WiFi and ran the app and made a call to a ATT cell phone. And it worked. So then I turned off WiFi and turned on mobile data. Made another call to same ATT cell phone and boom! N7 T-Mobile walking talking phone.
I'm stock rooted, google hangouts dialer. I don't know if this works on ATT or Verizon because I stunt have a Sim. My call went over 'H'. I have no LTE connection in my room.
Anyone else want to confirm. But sweet

It should work regardless of carrier as long as you have access to the Internet.

I thought it wasn't supposed to, because Google locked it down. You couldn't do this before. I don't believe this worked until volte started to roll out. And with Google integrating this into hangouts

It started working when the dialer came out. Doesn't have anything to do with the rollout of volte on some carriers.

The dialer included with hangouts is just a way to connect to gvoice with voip, which has been possible for years with 3rd party clients such as Grooveip
All it does is simplify the process of setting up, the concept is the same.
Literally any device that can connect to the internet can do hangout calls in the same manner, as there's no carriers involved at all. As far as they're concerned it's merely data.
What they did do was disable the method some clients, such as grooveip, used to connect to gvoice.
But there are multiple methods, existing solutions such as obitalk can still connect to gvoice via voip.
Does anyone know if I could send sms on the wifi model

Yes as long as you've integrated hangouts with Google voice.

Free wifi

Hey guys.
I got my N6P yesterday but I am having a problem with it.
There is free WiFi at work but when I try and connect to it I am not being directed to the log in page. I thought it may be an issue with chrome blocking it so tried Firefox but still couldn't log in.
There is no it support, as it is just a free open network.
Any body any ideas how I can get around this?
Thanks.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
No idea, I haven't had an issue. I use free WiFi all the time at my work. You sure it's not the wrong wifi spot and you are on the private WiFi instead?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Yeah pretty sure. I had my old phone with me too which connected as normal so I know it wasn't a problem with the WiFi.
Edit.. Just tried another free network and was directed to a login page. Maybe just a problem with the login at work. I need to take a trip to MacDonald's and Starbucks to test it more!
