Pulled the v1.5 update.zip and digging through it. SmartQ is not a "Big name" in the U.S. but I have had good experience with them in the past with their v5 and v7. Contrary to some sources it is showing as 4.1/API-16 in the build.prop. I also noticed that a zRAM script is in the firmware as well. For those not familiar with IPX7 rating it's pretty much the same as IP67.
For 99USD this is a pretty sweet deal. Here's a French review which shows what appears to be gesture wake as well as proximity detection.

There is a DroidSansFallback.ttf. I've localized Ubuntop so I'm missing most languages to check it but attached a zip of all the fonts for you.

Be carefull ordering this watch from PandaMill. They are selling the watch, but do not have it in stock. So you pay for the item, but you will not know when it will be shipped.
I'm waiting for a confirmation mail from SmartQME.com if they have the watch in stock.
Pandamill is cheaper ($100-5$Coupon+5$DHLshipping - $105)
SmartQMe.com ($100 $20DHL or $6 Chinapost)

Ordered the black edition of the Smartq Z watch this morning.
They respond very fast to email requests an confirmed that they had the black in stock. 9Did not ask for the other colours)
Price: $100 + $6 shipping.
Pandamill were guessing that they would have the watch in stock in 1-2 weeks.
It's always good to have stock confirmed if webshops do not display stock quantities. (and even if they do, it's not always right)
Hope this helps.

I did yesterday and there is NO stock of them. Only the black one is in stock. They expected to get stock again (or by first time, I don't know) in two weeks.

Ordered yesterday @smartqMe (Black edition)
Received shipping number from www.singpost.com through paypal mail stating that the watch has been shipped. (Statusupdate)
That's fast....

I have one of these, hopefully, arriving on Saturday.
So their latest update shows Android 4.1... instead of the 4.3 as advertised?

LOL....I am such a nerd, as soon as I saw the OP I clicked on the link and ordered one. $99 bucks is not bad if this watch functions well and will make it a full day one one charge. Can't wait to get it and try it out. My Sony SW2 is too boring.

I understand there to put the tweaks on the last line of the file, which is not clear to me is if I have to add:
- Data tweaks
- Saves power
- System tweaks
in each of the lines for each of the tweaks according to their use or only writes:
ro.ril.hsxpa = 1
ro.ril.gprsclass = 10
ro.ril.hep = 1
ro.ril.enable.dtm = 0 ..........................
...................
......................etc
excuse my English, I hope your answer thanks

debug.sf.hw = 1 is quite common, you need it for CRT-off-animation and it also makes animations smoother. it has been recommend a lot of times, if devices got laggy and/or hot, noone would use it.

I think we used to comment(ignore) the line for CRT animation.. Not set its value to 1..
Well about the line debug.sf.hw=1, i experience laggy animations and unable to activate crt animation on samsung roms and customroms base on it.
In cm7 the laggy animation caused by the line is negligible as the lag will only be noticed in some animations. The crt animation still works.

You just confused build.prop with init.d my friend.
Every rom has build.prop.
And for GPU rendering it's only for devices with good GPU and definitely not the ace. Which is why we commented out the line in old stock gingerbread roms.

* All samsung android device comes with lcd test menu in order to check the basic functionality of the mobile and it is also useful to check the tint issues
* Enter the dialer and input the following code "*#0*#, it will give you a set of options to test the mobile.
* The same lcd test menu can be used for testing the tint issues, the main menu of the lcd test should look white rather than pinkish white or warmer white. you can either decide it yourself by your eyes or compare it with another AMOLED screen.
* Black dots are present on almost all AMOLED panels with varying intensity. Its not an issue. But if you still want to check for lesser dots take your mobile to pitch dark environment and load a complete black wallpaper, once your eyes get setlled to the environment look over the scrren. you will notice those spots.
3. Im not getting enough battery life or its not upto the mark what should i do??
Click to collapse
Poor battery life is due to one of the following reasons
> keeping all the features on like wifi ,bluetooth, nfc, full brightness etc.
Solution:
Turn off all the unwanted features and set the brighness between 0 to 50 %
> Wakelocks are common in android, A wakelock is an event witch disturbs the cpu(waking the cpu) from a regular deep sleep when the device is not in use. Commonly wakelocks are caused by frequent syncing of data with apps like twitter, facebook etc.
look over the image below
The blue line rounded with circle denotes wakelock(though a few lines like the one shown in the above pic can be ignored) , the intensity of wakelocks varies depending upon the usage/settings. The best way to get rid of wakelocks is to use apps like "better battery stats" and "gsam battery monitor" to identify the app causing wakelocks and disable/tweak them.
Some Android Basics
Though many of you people here are not new to android, below are the details for android newbies
Read through these links and you will get a basic idea of all the modding/flashing stuffs
1.some basic android terms
Android provides much better customization than many other competing platforms, basically a customization is nothing but altering/tinkering the mobile according to the taste of the induvidual. It may be the look of the mobile, speed of the mobile or whatever it may be they can be customized
Customizing the mobile includes.
1.Rooting
2.Flashing Roms/kernels
3.Mods
Rooting:
A process allowing users of mobile phones running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user.
You can root your mobile simply by following this thread. Download the cf root from the same thread and flash it via odin. A separate how to root guide is here
Flashing:
Flashing is nothing but a method of installing/updating a ROM/KERNEL/MOD. Generally flashing is of 2 types.
* flash via odin
Odin is a software used in windows for flashing. Odin supports flashing of *.tar,*.md5(commonly used file formats). All the stock roms can be flashed only via odin. Kernels of tar format can also be flashed via odin.
This thread will give you all the details about how to use odin and the thread also has the collection of stock roms.
* flashing via cwm
cwm aka Clock Work Mod is one of the must have thing for a rooted user. Every android mobile comes with a recovery feature in order to troubleshoot if things goes wrong. CWM replaces the the basic recovery with advanced recovery features. CWM supports flashing files as zips. All the custom roms are generally flashed via cwm. Along with custom roms mods/themes are also flshed via cwm.
This thread will give you all the details about cwm and how to use it
Mods
Mods are nothing but tweaked apps/settings that enhances the functionality of the mobile. These mods can be flashed via cwm or can be copied manually via root explorer (for advanced users)
Voiding the warranty and rooting/customiztion
Rooting the mobile will void your manufacturer warranty. But at the same time wasting a powerhouse mobile like s3 without modding is mere waste So whats the solution??? Whenever you are in need of claiming your warranty there are methods to remove the root which in turn covers your mobile under warranty. Yet another thing you people have to know is galaxy s3 has a binary counter which counts the number of unofficial flashes (rooting, flashing cwm comes under flashing ). So if the counter is above 0 it will void your warranty again. A big thanks to "chainfire" for creating an app called "triangle away" which simply resets the binary counter to zero.
So if you people want to remove root for warranty purpose
1.install triangle away and reset the counter
2.enter cwm and factory reset the mobile.
3.put the mobile into download mode and flash the stock rom from the links given above .
Here are a few samsung secret codes you can play up with Thanks to anil84 for bringing this up ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27342524&postcount=5587
Backup your efs folder!
The first thing you people have to do before flashing any kind of things to your mobile is to "backup EFS folder".
What is efs?
The "\EFS" folder in the root directory is responsible for storing your IMEI number. The folder may get messed up when flashing roms or any other thing which results in loss of IMEI which in turn results in "no signals!!". It is hard to recover IMEI once it is lost, sometime you may even need to change the whole motherboard.
But........... do not worry...!! this can be easily resolved by backing up the "EFS" folder.
Head over here, download the tool, backup the folder and keep it safe in your pc

since htc One X is around 38K in India, I guess S3 will be around that price too!

[Guide][JB] Cool new features in the 4.1.2 update

Stuff you may not have noticed in the new update:
Overview:
Sammobile have leaked Samsung's 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy SII today, it's a long awaited updated that, in my opinion, has completely changed the phone. I was disappointed when Ice Cream Sandwich was released as it appeared Samsung had put minimal effort into the update, the UI felt outdated and I personally preferred running CM9. For the first time since Gingerbread I am absolutely in love with the Samsung's stock ROM!
Whether it was Samsung's choice or one of Apple's stupid patents the entire UI for the SII, Note and some other devices have got the new Nature UX found first on the SIII. Most noticeably the TW Launcher, notification bar and title bar layout has been changed, but overall the entire OS looks much fresher and cleaner. I have personally not encountered any lag in this leak and it appears Project Butter is working fine, there are a few blips here and there such as lock screen lag/unresponsiveness. Without a doubt this is the smoothest my SII has been since I first bought it and it feels brand new again!
** Of course this is test firmware and is not recommended for daily use **
Some features you may not know about:
Vibration Patterns:
Under settings > sound > device vibration you'll find this menu, here you can change the vibration pattern of the phone.
If the presets aren't right for you, you can create your own custom ones by clicking on create under the above menu.
Changing the lock screen shortcuts
To change these go to settings > lock screen > lock screen options > shortcuts.
Hold your finger down on the preset icons and drag the old ones to the trash, click on the + sign to add your own.
Adding Facebook to the lock screen:
First you must have Facebook installed and you must be logged in.
To activate it navigate to settings > lock screen > lock screen options > information ticker > contents type > Facebook
You may need to refresh on the lock screen its self.
Personalising the Messaging App:
Open up the Messaging app, press menu and select settings - here you'll find a few settings.
Bubble style:
Background style:
Dropbox:
Samsung have kindly teamed up with Dropbox to give us 50GB of free storage. This would cost you a fair bit to buy so take it up even if you aren't a user, it's a really useful cloud app. I'm sure you're greeted with it during first boot, if not it can be added as an account under the settings menu.
Quick access to the camera:
This is activated under settings > lock screen > lock screen options > camera quick access
I can't post a screenshot as I don't have enough hands... At the lock screen, place one finger on the screen and rotate the camera 90 degrees to launch the camera.
Did Samsung forget the ripple lock feature?!
No, they did not. I'm sure it will be included by default several releases down the line but remember this is test firmware. I can't stand 240dpi, so the first thing I did was change to a lower one - 180. Once rebooted the ripple lock worked! If I have some free time this week I shall make a multi dpi TW Launcher and dialer as everything else appears to work without modification.
Would I recommend it?
To put it bluntly, yes! I've been using it for a few hours with no problems what so ever, of course if you want to protect your warranty do not. You do risk bricking your phone and starting World War III, so do so with caution. I'm sure all of you Gingerbread lovers will enjoy this too!
Hopefully some of you found this helpful, thanks!
I just want to thank you for having a *CLEAN* thread (formatting, screenies, English quality).
There's a gazillion of threads here that hurt my eyes to look at.
I'll thank you once again, once you do get those multi-dpi phone and twlauncher. Also, the messaging apk is also a bit strange under 160dpi.
I havent tried 160 yet, will have a look into it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
NIce thread! What about Smart Stay?
Smart stay is there, and so is popup play!
How do you change dpi?
Also did you see how when you plug in headphones you get quick launch icons for your media apps in the notification panel.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Er sammobile dint get it first == a xda member did...
so how do you change teh DPI and why would you change it?
whats the difference?
also you forgott about Allshare Play
thats the biggest thing that have ever happend to the S2
For me stock browser crashes if i try 180 dpi, 160 and 240 works fine.
Also The clock crashes for me eveytime i try to turn og an alarm both at 240 and 160 dpi.
Am I the only one having this problems? If not do you know if it can be fixed like the dailer?
Just wanted to point out that other than that it works awesome for me.

Can someone explain in settings "Cloud"?
I have not signed into Samsung yet, so I'm curious what this cloud does, what we can use it for compared to Dropbox, and how much storage is there.
Thanks...
OP, change the credits to izap and not sammobile! This time they did not leak the firmware! Due Credits

Yes I got that too, but there is another 'cloud" setting in settings, I was just wondering if you use this to back up Samsung settings or whatever.
using this awesome rom
i liked stock more than aokp and cm because of camera quality, and now they hav added new features..its cool
but i hav a concern..i ma using perfmon and what i observed is that cpu remains on 800mhz most of the time while using the phone(not when screen is off)..as i hav flashed stock kernel after a long time interval, its weird for me..but i dont know, may be stock kernel are designed this way only..
scrolling is also very good..but msging app has very poor scrolling...the audio quality of speakers is definitely better..video player is awesome..just loving this rom..waiting for a kernel from dorimanx or Gm..but they need source of kernel
SO PLEASE INFORM THEM IF U HAPPEN TO KNOW ABOUT IT...thnx

This on tablets or any larger phone with a good development community. Probably timing wise it might work well on the new nexus phone which should be cutting edge tech and if it follows the N4 prices quite cheap too.
I wouldn't mind seeing this on a more premium looking device like the HTC One.

I also think that it would be nice on a big display. And because there aren't any buttons on the screen there is a lot of room for the content.

i don't think we will see this device on big devices like "htc one". in fact we will never get it publicly on any android device for a long time. i'm sure that they will want to see their devices selling first.
only n950 and n9 has that chance and even that might be a pain in the butt.

I agree with you. I also don't think that we will see it on different devices. And from what I understand, the interface that Jolla uses isn't open source. Or something like that.
But I do think that HTC should use a different OS, like SailfishOS. Then they have something different. That is how they got popular with android, because they were the first.
And thanks for the pics, I will add them to the first post tomorrow

No ROM has even been released yet, so there is no point speculating. The phone that will probably get it first is Jolla's phone, and the Nokia N9*
It's innovative and a breath of fresh air. After using the N9 for a couple years, then getting a chance to use an iPhone 4/5 for a couple years (company issued), and now after trying Android for over a year, I find both iOS and Android less intuitive than MeeGo -- I initially kept swiping to switch and close apps LOL.
I'm not sure how the pully menu system will feel in everyday usage, but at least it's innovative.

The pulley menu has sound and vibration. So you should really "feel" that your using it. I also think that this is an innovative way to use a menu instead of something on the screen like Android. This way there is more room for the content

I think it's a great update in terms of design and unity, but I highly doubt Samsung will keep that stock look when they roll it out to their devices. If we don't get the update, I'm switching over to another rom that is android L based. Until then, I'm happy with my Android L-esque layout and the New Google keyboard
I'm pretty sure its not coming to the first gen 10.1
but anyway its nice to see google at least trying to make an effort in bringing back tablet ui (just move those buttons to the left)

I used an app called "SoftKeyz", which lets you change your softkeys. In the built-in gallery, there should be some Android L softkeys.

I'm using Lucid Launcher, which has no app drawer button. Instead, when you swipe over to the left, you get the app drawer in an HTC style vertical scrolling grid.

Since the images been out for more than 24 hours soon
There's been allot of talk about it.
What do you think about it
Any impressions
As of now there's no news about it from Samsung.
HTC said they'll be delivering it to its flagship devices before 90 days after its been released.
What do you think Samsung will do? Will Samsung give us some love for their tablet?
Is your impression over Google's selection good or bad?
Would you use it once it's released or even test it? So far this is the most interesting ui overhaul since ICS!
Oh and there's for sure people working on it for our tablet already
Will you think will get a preview before sources are out?

Why would that happen, when it hasnt got anything (except some countries) after 4.1? I would be happy if i could get the 4.4. But no, still no news about it in nordic region.
