[MOD][TUTORIAL][JB]How To Make a Debloat Script & Complete List Of System Apps - Sony Cross-Device General

On XDA News too! Thanks!
Hello everyone!
Here is a tutorial on how to make a debloat script.
This tutorial should work for all Sony Xperia Devices running JB 4.1.2.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, global economic crisis, James Bond destroyed Aston Martin DB5 or M's death.
YOU choose to make these modifications. Follow carefully the instructions you will have no problem at all.

Before we begin with the tutorial, here is the complete list of the apps you will find in system/app, with a small explanation and if they can be removed safely.
There are probably some mistakes as they are almost 200 apks, so please collaborate with me.
If you want to restore some apks because you just changed your mind, just extract them from the rom (make sure it's deoxeded).
I won't tell you to remove the apks or not, i am just telling you which are safe to remove. YOU choose to delete them or not!
Use Control+F to find the apk you want, will save you time!

How to make a debloat script
Hmmm... What is a debloat script man?
It's a script that removes a lot of extra stuff, unwanted apps, also known as "bloatware".
What you need:
1. Deoxeded Rom
2. Root permission
3. CWM
4. Winrar
5. Notepad++
6. This file : View attachment META-INF.rar
OK now, we are good to go:
1. Download and install Notepad++
2. Download the attached file and extract the META-INF folder. Go to META-INF → com → google → android.
Now you will see a filed named updater-script. This it the file that will do all the magic, so be careful. Now: right click on it and open it with Notepad++.
3. Now on Notepad++
a) Select Encoding → Encode in ANSI
b) Select Edit → EOL Conversion → UNIX/OSX Format
Now let's start:
STEP 1
Copy these lines in the Notepad ++
ui_print("");
ui_print("");
ui_print(" HERE YOU CAN WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT, BETTER WRITING THOUGH WHAT THIS MOD WILL DO (LIGHT OR HEAVY DEBLOAT ECC) ");
ui_print("");
ui_print("");
STEP 2
Now copy the following lines (immediately after the previous lines; no spaces between these lines):
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache");
STEP 3
Now you have to add the path of the file you want to delete (add the lines immediately after the previous lines; no spaces between these lines):
For example:
delete("/system/app/SemcMusic.apk"); -- This one will delete the SemcMusic.apk
delete("/system/app/CosmicFlow.apk"); -- This one will delete the CosmicFlow.apk
delete("/system/app/WikipediaPlugin.apk"); -- This one will delete the WikipediaPlugin.apk
STEP 4
Now copy these lines(add the lines immediately after the previous lines; no spaces between these lines):
delete_recursive("/cache");
delete_recursive("/data/dalvik-cache");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "unmount", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "unmount", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache");
NOTICE: After the line run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache"); leave an empty line.
PHP:
Here is a example of a small debloat script:
ui_print("");
ui_print("");
ui_print("Learing how to make a debloat script -- DaRk-L0rD");
ui_print("");
ui_print("");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache");
delete("/data/data/com.adobe.reader");
delete("/data/app/com.adobe.reader-1.apk");
delete("/system/app/FBCalendarSync.apk");
delete("/system/app/facebook.apk");
delete("/system/app/ExternalKeyboardJP.apk");
delete("/system/app/EventStreamPluginTwitter.apk");
delete_recursive("/cache");
delete_recursive("/data/dalvik-cache");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "unmount", "/data");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "unmount", "/system");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/cache");
LEAVE THIS LINE EMPTY
Just a small tip now:
delete_recursive("/cache"); → This command will wipe the cache.
delete_recursive("/data/dalvik-cache"); → This command will wipe the dalvik cache.
STEP 5
Now save the updater-script and exit from Notepad++.
STEP 6
The next thing to do is create the flashable zip.
a) Make sure that the updater-scipt is in META-INF → com → google → android
b) Now make a folder named system (leave it empty).
c) Select both META-INF and system folder and right click on them.
d) Select Add to archive...
e) Archive name: Add the name you wish. No spaces between the words, but only "-" and "." .
f) Archive format: ZIP
g) Compression method Store
---> The Archive format and the Compression method are very important, so make sure they are ZIP and STORE.
i) Now copy the zip file you created in your phone and flash it!
DONE
Happy debloating

Sugestions
1. Instead of marking those which are safe to remove, I would mark the apk's which are needed for the phones's essential functions and which should not be removed. The rest may be some eye candy (i.e. wallpapers), or some features not everyone uses (examples: Teethering, TV launcher), or apps that may be redundant to some (example: Gmail, Email does the same). Their removal is subjective to each individual.
2. My comments after ->
ArtFilterCamera.apk ==== Useful for the camera -> these are mostly cheesy filter effects, IMO
BlackThemeBlueAccent.apk ==== Black Blue Accent Theme=== Safe to remove -> Themes come with build in accents but if you don't choose a theme that has accents, then you will have none. And also no check marks on check boxes, colours on toggles, etc.. My take: Don't remove.
BlueTheme.apk ==== Blue Theme=== Safe to remove -> it is the theme Air
HTMLViewer.apk ==== HTML viewer -> to my opinion safe to remove, haven't found any need to see html files outside the brower
NoiseField.apk ==== ? -> noise surpression for the mic
OnOffTools.apk ==== Related to the launcher probably -> threse are the Sony on/off toggle widgets
PartnerBookmarksProvider.apk ==== Bookmarks Related -> safe to remove
PicoTts.apk ==== Text To Speech Service -> safe to remove, keep the Google TTS, IMO
RemoteControlService.apk ==== ? -> That's the "find my phone and erase everything on it" feature, in case it's lost. If checked in settings, it also enables continuous phone location tracking and detail location storage on Google servers.
SemcAlbum.apk ==== Sony's Album=== Safe to remove -> I'd not remove that without having another one.
SemcEmail.apk ==== Sony's email app=== Safe to remove -> not present on my V
SEMCSetupWizard.apk ==== Setup Wizard -> safe to remove only needed for noobs, all setings can be done manually
SemcWarrantyTime.apk ==== ? -> exactly what is says, warranty timer
ShareApplication.apk ==== Share Application -> part of the social engine = safe removal
SomcXperiaLink.apk ==== Xperia Link -> easy connection to other Sony Link enabled devices
UpdateCenter.apk ==== Update Center -> not needed on non-stock roms
VpnDialogs.apk ==== VPN Dialogues -> safe to rfemove if you don't use VPN
3. Does anybody have a BlackThemeBlueAccent.apk for me?
Thanks once again for the gargantuan task you undertook!

@peter-k bro, a complete list is always useful i think. Also, each of us probably wants to delete different stuff and have a complete idea i think is important.
On the other hand, i don't know what every single apk does and as i mentioned on the OP i will need your collaboration to find the mistakes because the list is pretty huge, so i wouldn't be able to say for sure which apks are important for the system and which not, so i preferred to add a "safe to remove" to those i know for sure that will not create problems.
Hope my english makes sense--> i don't have coffee at all

Sure your english makes sense why you think not? There is not only one english in the world but many, Indian, Australian, Scottish, etc etc, and we all can co-operate smoothly.
I would love to help but I've no more stock I debloated everything already, only 140 megs left in my app.

No worries bro. I will do some more search with google and try to find out where the mistakes are so i can provide a complete list of the apks.
Next step with this tutorial is the social stuff and correct the mistakes

All this is 100 % safe to remove
Facebook content can be viewed with a regular browse
Facebook
Facebook extension
FBiX Post Viewer
This the biggest and most effective data collection app, 52 mb! Google searches and other search engine searches can be performed with any browser.
Google Search
Google's Facebook
Google+
It's a location tracker dressed up in a convenience function
Location Based Wifi
Convenient photo uploading
Picasa Uploader
Sony product ads
Sony Select
Reads screen functions, but it is a total failure (don't switch it on, you will regret!
Talk Back
A multi function widget that is actually well meant and could have a good potential, but it's not well executed
Timescape feeds
Timescape
Timescape Feed
Timescape Friends
Timescape Friend View
Timescape Share
Twitter content can be viewed with a regular browse
Twitter
Twitter extension
Safe to remove, but still the no.1 IM I guess
WhatsApp
No use for it
Wikipedia extension
Mostly convenience features for social network users. All this can be done with regular applications, too. I think the reason for the presence is Sony wants to participate on user data harvesting.
(f) Xperia AppShare (if you want to recommend apps to friends)
(f) Xperia Calendar Sync (if you use Sony calendar)
(f) Xperia FB Setup (on time setup)
(f) Xperia Friends' Music (see what music your friends listen too)
(f) Xperia Musik Likes (let others see what music you like)
(t) Xperia Proxy
(f) Xperia Proxy
Xperia Share (part of social engine for Facebook and Twitter, I think profile photo share?)
Xperia Social Engine (Sony social engine framework)
(picasa) Xperia Social Engine Photos (picasa photo sharing)
(f) Xperia Social Engine Photos (Facebook photo sharing)
(t) Xperia Social Engine Sharing (part of Sony social engine for Twitter)
(f) Xperia Social Engine Sharing (part of Sony social engine for Facebook)
Xperia Twitter Setup (one time setup)
Youtube content can be viewed with a regular browser, songs can be sung in a regular bathtub
Youtube
Youtube extension
Youtube karaoke extension
Sorry I don't have the apk names. I hope it can help you with identification.

@peter-k thanks bro. I will add them later today. I know the name of the apks, so no worries
Really appreciated the cooperation .

Have no idea bro. I will search some apks function today and I will edit the OP if i find something useful

It is the application you can use in conjunction with Nfc, if you are using Nfc tags, the little sign patches to give commands to the phone. Not using tags, then it can go.

Thanks. removal done
do u know the apk names of mcafee, sony select, play now ? these are highly irritating apps for me

Has the "Ok to remove" been confirmed? Will a factory reset bring it all back?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The unroot works if u put the bloatware that u removed back on, or if u never remove it in the first place. I rooted the hard way and used the 1 click to unroot. Im ready for the 2.2 to come as well. It is confirmed by sprint that the evo is getting it this week so im pisses that we don't have it already.
sent from Shawn Micheals...The heartbreak Kid
I've removed nearly everything under "OK to remove/delete/rename" with no problems.
I'm not sure if a factory reset will bring everything back or not, but I saw a .zip floating around of all those system files. If you need any of those files I could try and find it for you.
Thanks wad3g, that's really helpful.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Seen quite a few people run in to bootloops messing with the framework and as of right now to fix it, is to run the 604 update.zip. But those who removed the bloatware ran in to problems as the update wouldn't run because it didn't see certain apps. And no, a hard reset doesn't bring them back.
So I'm assuming this will probably be the same case for the 2.2 update, guess we'll find out soon enough.

[TUT] Remove Junk Apps + List (4.0.A.2.368, 4.0.1.A.0.283 & 4.0.2.A.0.42/.58/.62/.69)
Hello guys,
with the latest update(s) the Xperia Arc got a lot of additional junk apps, some of them run always and slow the phone down due running in the background and using RAM and CPU power.
So I'm writing a tutorial for you to remove these unnecessary apps.
How to delete the junk apps:
Go into "system/app" with Root Explorer, in that folder are all the junk apps. Now press "Mount R/W". Now you can delete the junk apps one by one or multi-select them. To have a backup of the apps, I'd suggest you to move them to the sd card. It's good to make a folder called "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" on your sd card.
Now select the apps, press move and go to the sd card and to the folder "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" and press paste. Done.
List of the junk apps for 4.0.A.2.368 :
- chinesetextinput.apk (chinese keyboard)
- datamonitor.apk (datamoitor widget)
- Home.apk (SE launcher, only delete this when you have another launcher installed!!)
- IddAgent.apk (Anonymous Usage Stats)
- JapaneseIME.apk (japanese keyboard)
- letsgolf_A_353.apk (Let's Golf HD)
- neoreader.apk (Neoreader)
- OmaDatasyncService.apk (part of SE Sync)
- playnowclientarvato.apk (Play Now)
- POBoxSknPink.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
- POBoxSknWood.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
- SemcCrashMonitor.apk (Crash Monitor)
- SEMCSetupWizard.apk (Setup Wizard)
- Stk.apk (SIM Tool Kit)
- storefront.apk (all the new stuff that has something to do with Fun&Downloads. Removes 3 items from the app drawer that belong to that game thing)
- Sync.apk (SE Sync)
- SyncWizard.apk (part of SE Sync)
- touchnote.apk (postcard app)
- trackid.apk (Track ID)
- UpdateCenter.apk (Update Center. Will remove "softwareupdate" from phone information in settings)
- usersupport.apk (Support)
- widgetdigitalclock.apk (small digital clock widget)
- widgetonoff.apk (most on/off widgets)
- wisepilot.apk (Wisepilot)
List for 4.0.1.A.0.283 + 4.0.2.A.0.42/.58/.62/.69:
- chinesetextinput.apk
- com.sonyericsson.androidapp.storefront.apk
- datatrafficswitch.apk
- Home.apk (SE launcher, only delete this when you have another launcher installed!!)
- IddAgent.apk
- JapaneseIME.apk
- letsgolf_A_353.apk
- neoreader.apk
- OmaDatasyncService.apk

- Stk.apk
- Sync.apk
- SyncWizard.apk
- trackid.apk
- UpdateCenter.apk
- usersupport.apk
- widgetdigitalclock.apk
- widgetonoff.apk
- wisepilot.apk
I've removed all these apps from my Xperia Arc and it's running fine and faster than before. Plus you have more free RAM so your apps don't get killed as fast anymore when you minimized them.
There might be more apps that are removable without bricking the ROM, but then you lose some functions. If you want to do that you can use the link I posted below.
If you want to remove even more, here's another good list but some new apps are missing. Check the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
This might also work on the Xperia Neo and Xperia Play when they are on the mentioned firmwares, too. But I can't test that.
Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsilbe if you brick or damage your phone by doing this!
If this helped you, please press "Thanks"
Regards,
Flo
Very Good Man Thanks... =)

If you meant ES File Explorer ( not EX File Explorer ) then you don't need that mount R/W option as this command is specific to Root explorer...
however, in both cases you NEED TO BE ROOTED, if you're not then both apps ( Root explorer & ES File Explorer ) won't help you... and also not any other app will help...

Isn't removing the 'Home.apk' without an alternate home screen app a dangerous idea?
When we move the apps to sdcard dat actually means we are deleting them from system/app rite ???
or do i have to go back to the app directory and delete them ?
thanx !

Removing them from /system/app will uninstall the apps,
U don't have to go to the app directory
My tips is,
Multi select your files.
Cut all the files.
Paste it on a new folder on your sd card.
So you can reinstall your app again anytime you want
Just copy and paste again in /system/app

btw. in setxperia's systemcleanup tool you :
get a description for systemfiles , a hint if they are "save to remove" , you can rename them (underscore) , delete them , move updates (i.e. maps) back to system/app , fill the new free space with apps from data/app
and all this with a single click ;-)

Not if you have a replacement launcher like LauncherPro Plus installed.
I wrote to not remove the apk in the list when no other launcher is installed, where I described each apk, but for safety I added the description to the other list, too
Guys,
For my Arc S with .283 firmware, I have moved the below apps to SD Card :
1) datamonitor.apk
2) datatrafficswitch.apk
3) IddAgent.apk
4) JapaneseIME.apk
5) letsgolf_ay.apk
6) OmaDatasyncService.apk
7) playnowclientarvato.apk
8) POBoxSknPInk.apk
9) POBoxSknWood.apk
10) SemcCrashMonitor.apk
11) SEMCSetupWizard.apk
12) Stk.apk
13) storefront.apk
14) Sync.apk
15) SyncWizard.apk
16) TimescapeRssPlugin.apk
17) TimescapeSpline.apk
18) TimescapeWidget.apk
19) UpdateCenter.apk
20) usersupport.apk
21) widgetonoff.apk
22) wisepilot.apk
Instead of deleting them from a file explorer, you could just use Titanium Backup, much easier to identify what apks are and you can even back them up in case you ever need them again.
Thanks guys I try removing the bloatwares! (Crossing fingers.)

Device owners won't have to deal with a ton of pre-packaged apps they may not use (ex. Google Play Movies & TV). Instead, this GApps package has been modded for those who are running Android 4.4.3 and want just the bare basics (Play Store with sync. and libs). Also great for owners who have older/legacy devices with small system partitions. In addition, for those who are running CM11, I've taken out some system bloat during the install process. Read OP for details.
is there a way i can get amail.apk or exhange.apk for my secondary email? great work btw!

I went ahead and created a flashable .zip that will put back email.apk and exchange.apk onto your device. You may download it here.

SystemUpdateService$Receiver
SystemUpdateService$ActiveReceiver
SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver
Use the following app to disable the entries mentioned above.
Thanks to Noed for the alternative fix!
How would I go about adding the voice dialer back? Its kind of a massive must have for anyone using cm11 since LTE and data drops are a constant bug. I have no way of saying "open APN" without it which is the fix to that problem.
Thanks these gapps are awesome.
Tested on cwm 6.0.5.0
edit 1
The alternative fix don't works for me,i have try all the system entries but nothing for now.

This may be related, I just found out that removing Google Search from GApps also seems to remove Google voice typing from Keyboard & Input Methods, so the keyboard doesn't have the voice input option anymore. Possibly that also affects voice dialing? I've reinstalled Google search through the Play store now and was able to get speech input back that way.

Updated Google Play Store to v4.9.13

Using BaNkS source for future GApps builds
GApps Minimal Edition will no longer include ROM de-bloat list
Added GApps Minimal X Edition - includes ROM de-bloat list (read OP for details)
Added GApps Minimal X+ Edition - includes extra apps added to de-bloat list (read OP for details)
Removed previously unmaintained GApps packages (all minimal editions will work with any 4.4 version)
Looking forward to this :good:
Good work making a minimal pack, and adding a list of bloat to remove with the X and X+ is brilliant.
@jajb
Many thanks to you once again! These GApps sound amazing!

[Q] How to free up space on internal memory?

My kid's SM-T230NU is out of space. Internal storage shows 775MB free. However, the SD Cards shows 29.34/29.71GB free. I can't seem to move anything to the SD card under the "applications" tab. It is rooted, TWRP recovery, SDFix app installed.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get stuff off the internal drive and onto the humungous SD Card that's sitting unused?
Thanks for any help!

Honestly the way apps are stored on android and how the read/write permissions on sd issue was "handled" with kitkat, the options for optimizing app storage seem more limited than ever. Maybe someone with more knowledge can offer a more elegant solution, but as far as doing something right now to clear up some space in your app storage:
Install titanium backup and first back up all user apps and all system apps & data. Below you'll find a list of system apps that are safe to remove. Titanium backup has an option to remove (uninstall) pre-installed apps and system apps, the ones that you normally aren't allowed to uninstall on play store or in settings. Peruse the list and use it as a reference, just remember that just because an app is safe to remove, doesn't mean you want it gone. I.e. make sure you're uninstalling crap you don't want/don't use, which should be a majority of this list. Remove a bunch of unnecessary pre-loaded apps and system apps and hopefully you'll clear up a good amount of space.

Don't worry about apk or odex here it's having this list of app names safe to remove that should hopefully be useful for you. I hope I have been able to help you.
Thanks for the response. I'll have to try those. The question is why can't I move apps from the internal drive to the SD card? I've done it countless times with my LG G Pad, Samsung Galaxy S2, and Kindle running CM.

I use link2sd and foldermount. It sends app data over and yeah. It does save some space. I use sd maid to clean my whole device for junk and all that.
The list you show needs some kind of description beside each one as to what they are for. How do we know what we want/don't want?
Example; AntHalService.apk ? - ______
