Drawing on the phone. - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General

I'm curious, did anyone buy the phone for the ability to draw on it? I was excited to see they included replacement nibs with the note3.
I've drawn on all three notes, and the note 3 has some really good pressure sensitivity, better then my cintiq at times.
Anyone else want to share any drawings or other art they've done on it so far, or even the Note 1 or 2?
You can see mine here.

I don't have very good drawing skills, but I did just find an app called flipaclip(maybe everyone else already knows about it, idk)it allows you to draw flip book style clips. Pretty neat and fun

Awesome drawings! Can you do some on the Note 3 and show us how they come out?
EDIT! Duh! I see that you said those were done on the Note 3. Lol! Very cool! What app do you use?

I'll have to give it a whirl, sounds pretty neat.
To everyone else, thanks. Also the programs I used are Sketchbook pro/mobile (which amusingly enough I don't like for desktop), and Artflow, both very good programs for the note line of tablets and phones. It allows for full blown drawing and rendering in a tiny app.

WOW!!! Great art work. Im glad to see that people have been sharing what this great phone can do.

I'm in no way an artist. But I do enjoy drawing on this phone. Its something I used to do a lot to relax when I had a notepad on me but I haven't carried a pen and paper with me for years. Its nice to be able to draw again and just doodle whenever I feel like it and not have to plan on bringing anything more with me.
Here is something I drew a few days ago. Just getting used to the program.

Yea the sensitivity is nice. Once you get used to the program brushes and customize the size for the pressure you use. Its nice.
My fiance is an animator, usually works on the cintiq, and has the note 2 and loves the pen. One of the reasons she got the phone was because of the wacom tech.

I was at CES when they announced the first Note. They had artists all of the building doing character paintings. It was all very impressive!

The main reason i picked it up was for drawing. I sync my sketches with my dropbox and work them on my windows tablet, phone, and desktop. Sketchbook for galaxy is such a significant upgrade for me as well. All i need is the lasso cutout tool...although you can lasso through screenshot and share right into a layer. Very sharp.

I'm in the process of customizing my launcher. I'm drawing my own icons on the phone. Does anyone know if sketchbook can save a image with a transparent background? Every time I try to make a icon the background is always white. And yes the note 3 and spen can make beautiful drawings.

I'm hoping photoshop will get on board and make an app, or at the very least pro-create. I use it a lot for work, it was just random doodling on my previous notes, but the 3 has a lot of potential.

I don't think you can, you might have to do a bit of exporting and then importing them back in to get a png/gif effect. Sounds like a neat project, good luck.

S-Memo alternative thread

Thought it might be useful to start a thread for alternatives to the s-memo app. Currently its the main reason I put up with Touchwiz a cant seem to find an app as nice looking and as responsive as s-memo in the market
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
I use extensive notes
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I flick between s-memo
FreeNote ( https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zdWlzaG91eGllLmZyZWVub3RlIl0. )
Evernote
and OneNote
What I really REALLY want is s-memo or whatever I use to sync back to me "Notes" in my Exchange Outlook account :-(
Extensive was buggy on aosp ics. Super note is good if u find apk
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
supernote wasnt bad... but unless your on a smaller dpi it never scaled right for me.
Ive tried almost every app I could find and none of them just seem to have the responsiveness of the smemo app for handwriting

I find that Soonr Scribble seems to have better pressure sensitivity than most other apps. The automatic cloud sync is a huge plus. I lose my S Memo notes with every flash...
iAnnotate is also pretty good. maybe not for quick notes though.

Anti paper seems nice for actual hand writing notes. Doesn't have picture or video ability which sucks . Man I wish smemo didn't need tw framework to work or u could just grab apk...

Evernote's skitch is pretty good too.
LectureNotes
Tried Quill, Antipaper and Writepad stylus when I tried ICS... (the non-chinese awful version) Quill was the best of those. However, I didn't notice LectureNotes, which seems even better than Quill! ICS time!
Free note seems nice . And I think its note everything?
Sent from my Ice Creamy Galaxy NOTE
lecture notes does look interesting I'll download it and report back.... So far Ive tried everything mentioned above and always found them underwhelming.
Update: This is definately a replacement, UI is pretty dam clean, responsiveness is good (still think s-memo has an edge here) and for what I want to be able to do it has all the right settings (changing ruler spacing), the biggest one is disabling finger input on the s-pen writing area... the pro version seems to have quite a few more options than the trial.
Definitely worth a look and download
Although I haven't tried it Whiteboard Pro is available on the Amazon appstore today (Feb 27) for free so I grabbed a copy
http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011
Lecture notes has been updated to support hardware emulation of the wacom stylus (at least on my ICS rom). I would encourage everyone to check it out, a ton of options to customize the experience for your needs (custom pens, paper line spacing etc.).
I vote for Freenote for writing notes.
ps. I'd suggest Sketchbook mobile for drawing.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Freenote is nice for actually hand writing notes in a note book style fashion. Otherwise its to confusing and a cluster **** and i don't like it.
Seems like note everything is a good free and paid replacement ...

I was looking for something better for taking notes with my note... Lecture notes definitely takes the cake. I was trying free not but it was not responsive enough for me and as intuitive. Lecture notes looks to be a winner.

I haven't noticed any lag with it And I agree it looks great and has great ideas, but it's just lacking in features. The way I use my phone tho, the missing features don't bother me.
It's a launcher developed by Chris Lacy. He does good work. I use his twitter app, tweet lanes. It's one of the better twitter clients imho. He's very responsive to user feedback. This launcher is in its infancy so it'll get better

What stopped me from using it is the app drawer in the top left. It'd be a nuisance for me to reach all the way up there every time I needed to access the drawer o_0

Nova and Apex are free, there are paid versions which you can unlock certain features. Completely different to Action Launcher which doesn't offer a free/trial version.
At least with Nova/Apex you can see how it runs on your device over a day or two compared to Action Launcher which you basically have 15 minutes to trial it and if you don't like it you only have 15 minutes to request a refund.

I was concerned about this too - I think you can open the app drawer with the home button, but some apps you want will still be at the top of the list. Infact, if you use the A-Z most will be at the top.
Does anyone know if there is a way around this (e.g, when you press the letter they are offset from the top by a couple of apps)?
I will certainly keep an eye on this, I was quite impressed with the frequent updates for tweetlanes.
The app drawer isn't really on the top left, you can press the home button and it will open, and you can also just swipe right when you are on your "left most" home screen.
I use this on my Nexus 7, and I think its great, good to see something different and not horrifically overpriced!
For me, all it needs is a landscape option, I wouldn't really use landscape on my N4, but I would use it quite a bit on my N7!

Question about S-Note

When I use the S-Note program, and I create a new note I am having an issue. Let's say I start off with a blank note and I write the date and my name in it. When I tap on the + symbol to create a new page, nothing happens. So my real question is, how do I add another pag to an existing note. I really love this tablet. I upgraded from a Thinkpad Tablet which also had a pen. Nice tab, but this one is superior in so many ways. Now if only I could figure out S-Note.

Well, dafuq? Now it starts working. I tried both pen and finger before. Other than making the icon light up, nothing happened. Now I go through the process of taking a SS and editing it, uploading it and so on. And now S-Note decides to behave?? Ok. Weird, but ok.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
Ok so after the JB update I cant seem to save my own custom pens or access the productivity tools. Are those available in every template?
Also, even though I have told S-Note to ignore finger/hand input, when I rest my palm on the screen it zooms in. So um yeah.
I really miss pen only mode that my Thinkpad Tablet had. Is that even an option? I've dug around in the system settings for the S-Pen and I was unable to find anything like that.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
Ok ok I figured it out.
It's the template.
I can do formulas and shape matching in the note template, but not in the memo template. Which is oddbecause I would think grap paper would be better suited for match and stuff like that than a yellow legal pad.

You can change the background of any note by tapping on the note Settings in the upper right corner and selecting change background. You can even import another image to use as a background. I just have not found where you can save the imported image as a new background template.

Whoops, accidentally thanked your post. That was a complete mistake. What exactly is the problem here? Are you saying that you think your screen is not 1280x768, or is the text all pixelated? Because you just seem to be complaining about numbers on the screen, while you're having no actual problems with using the browser. Could you specify your exact problem, other than the fact that the numbers are off?

He's complaining about both I think. Because he thinks the screen is defective, he's starting to notice micro-imperfections, and attributing them to a messed up display. The display does have the full resolution advertised, which you're able to fully utilize in apps that support fullscreen mode, like some video applications. The nav bar is just part of the package, but there's no real dishonesty in the advertising or anything.
The reason you have the difference between Chrome and stock Android browser is because Chrome has a pseudo-fullscreen mode now that hides the address bar automatically.
Don't worry man. Your screen is just fine. Be happy that you have a Nexus 4. It's quite an extraordinary smartphone.

Yeah, I definitely love the build quality. I love holding the phone as it feels extremely premium. Can't get over the screen and the sharpness either as well as the fast charging lol. I use spen with papyrus daily for work. Too many things to praise but yeah, you get the point. ^_^

Papyrus - Natural Note Taking It's a great little app for my notes. I use it in conjunction with the action memo.
