Do y'all use... - Droid Ultra General

Does anyone use the new features such as "Assist", Touchless control and or any other features that i have believed to drain batters...if you you all DO use any or all of these, can you inform me of your battery life?

Battery life remains almost the same even without use age... They are all really great features!! Try using them!

Yeah I use assist and touchless controls. I haven't noticed a huge battery drain. I think stuff like google now always tracking your location in the background uses much more battery life than anything.

These are the stand out features of the phone. These features are why you buy this phone other than battery. Certainly not for the camera!

[Q] Most "rewarding" battery app?

Ok I have tried multiple battery saving apps and I can't seem to figure out which is the best. I seem to not have very good results from JD, maybe I am setting it up wrong. I am currently trying Du Battery app. What are others experiences?
In my experience, I find it's best not to use any. They all use battery and RAM to save battery, if that makes sense.

not really sure what kind of battery you are expecting from the M, but it gets one of the best. unless you are a power user, you really do not need an app - otherwise, go with the maxx and one of those large extended battery cases.
but in terms of apps, I have found that Greenify works best, but requires root access.
A quick search would have garnered this result.. Which many people agree has done well for saving battery:

My battery life has been terrible today...

As the title states, my battery life has struggled mightily today. Check out my pics, what do you think could be causing this?

the 1positive with mine so far is the battery. i go all day (12-14hrs) with moderate use and still have 30% charge when i plug it in.
That's terrible. You got an app freaking out. I noticed a huge drop in battery life when I put on a different sms app.

Thanks guys, I installed the wakelock app. I will see what's going on.

Install better battery stats.....maps and partial wakelocks seems to be killing you battery. BBS would give u a better indication of whats eating your battery

Not sure what the issue is yet, I was charging my phone. Now I took it off the charger and have better battery stats installed. I will monitor it and let you know.

Held awake for 3 hours because your screen was on for almost that long. Right?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
one thing that really kills this battery is the setting under location access "wifi and mobile network location" if you have that enabled google services keep the phone awake and drain the battery. I disabled that and my battery last so much longer now.
Well guys, something is still eating my battery alive. I went to bed with over 40% battery and I woke up with 7% left.
Here are my screenshots from better battery stats. Can anyone figure out what's eating me alive?

Yeah, good tip. If that doesnt work, go to Maps and disable history and location reporting as well. Might want to disable Wifi and mobile network location under the global location settings as well. This prevents other programs from eating up battery trying to access location when GPS is off. Restart your phone after diasbling any of these, then check battery life
Ok guys, here is how my battery has been doing since I made the changes that everyone suggested. Am I in good shape?

Lol nice. The only complaint that I have about this is that I had to turn off every single location based setting in the phone. I've never had to do that on my previous phones. It never drained like this on my S4 with those settings on.
The root of my complaint is that I can't even get weather updates on my widget because it is all turned off. And I always like to have the weather widget on my main screen. Which single setting can I turn on to get weather updates? I will leave the other ones off.

Power management wakelocks in the kernel is a placeholder for partial wakelocks. Look at the partial wakelock list for details. I had a terrible *backup* partial wakelock that had a start count of 3000 within 8 hrs!!! It was killing my bat. Check yours, it might be that same if its not the location wakelocks acting up again

Battery saving apps?

DS Battery Saver. Is great when I'm at work and my phone is not being used.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Nothing at all. There are no battery issues with this phone. Just use the thing as you normally would.
I use the free version of Juice Defender. Easy to use and made a huge difference for my S4 and my wife's S3.
If you're a power user, likely no battery saver is going to help much, though. Watching vids, streaming data, screen on all day, etc just eat battery power.

How are these battery stats?

I was wondering what people thought of these battery stats. I consider these average for my normal day. I've gotten much better and much worse. Just looking for comparisons. And wondering if anyone had any advice that relates specifically to this phone. Ive done almost everything out there. At least as much as you can do running stock. I have frozen many apps. Disabled almost all non essestial settings. Display is less than 25%. Use app ops. Wake lock detector. Better battery stats. Turned off location on almost everything. The only thing I think hurts me is I have auto sync on many apps, mostly for social media. Mainly I want to know if people who have gone through the ringer trying to squeeze very bit of battery life out of their phones are experiencing similar battery life. I see so many people claiming crazy stats I want to know how they do it.

This is an average day for me of heavy internet browsing and just using my phone really. I am running stock mk2, although i have removed many apps. But i had 15% battery left after that days use.

@ OP.
Those battery stats are average for a normal every day user on stock. Custom ROMS and Kernels if you want super battery tweaking.
So off topic bc I'm a super noob.. I was wondering if you root your phone do you lose the ability to get carrier software updates?

OP, your Android OS is waaaaaaay too high. (try settings/connections/location services/ uncheck "use wireless networks) for a major difference.

Battery Save app

For you What is best app for Battery saving? Sorry for my English
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Power saving mode of n2 with greenify. If you want best battery be on 4.1.2 rom with perseus kernel. Unmatched combo
greenify
Im using greenify too.. it works with 4.4.2 too..
It's worth trying xposed receiver stop and boot manager with greenify as well

Greenify is great
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
my theory is to don't use power saving apps, I use the built -in power saver, automatic screen brightness, when I exit an app or game I remove it from the recent list, if im in a place with no signal I turn airplane mode on. If I dont need internet I turn off the wifi/data.
power saving mode is great always.. give a try to DU battery saver if u are not rooted. It works pretty well for. Add the cleaner widgte to your screen which helps clearing the RAM with a tap..
Greenify Donation. Its worth it. I don't care what ROM it is battery life is great as long as I wipe internal SD before flash

Hey,
are there any proofs that Greenify increases battery life? Any benchamarks? Comparisions?
Or just illusion?
Like apps to increasing performance, they are ruining it. (i will reccomend here LagFix app

Why don't you try using it and see for yourself. There's nothing better than doing it for yourself rather than relying on somebody else, no?
Benchmark you are referring to is some what, stupid. I am pertaining to a benchmark which elevates the standard of battery saving or performance enhancing.

It's not stupid, there's a way to do that.
Greenify should share theirs results to public, if they saying it will increase your battery then prove it! Show me the results. Im that kind of person.
Take care

greenify is the best battery saving app plus you need to remove unwanted apps cz they may be eating battery..mobile data eats battery no one can help you there it's always better to use wifi when it's available..
First of all I would recommend to change the kernel. If you're on version 4.3 or lower Pegasus Kernel provides the best ratio between performance and battery drain.
It's much better than using a task killer.
I tried both, but any task killer isn't quite comfortable, because it closes tasks you may need. And also white listing isn't always an option. Nevertheless you'll have performance lags as soon as the cache is cleaned. Any app has to reload its processes anew.
