Hidden Menu - Droid Ultra General

Found a hidden menu I thought I'd share. Dialing the code directly doesn't seem to work, but going through this app it opens
I can't post links yet, search "hidden menus" in Play Store
Choose CQATestReceiver then the first option.
Still looking for the setting "MO SMS over IMS" though.

[Q] Double Tap Handcent SMS Droid X

I want to modify the double tap home behavior to open Handcent when I double tap home. I found out that by going to data/data/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db, I can use an sqlite editor. I also know the format is <program>/ Activity. I have the com.handcent etc, but what would I enter for activity? HELP!!!!
Edit: Change that to whatever you want to run when you double tap. Note the form though, <program>/<activity> I found this, so what would I do for handcent?
can someone also pm or send me the original com.motorola.android.providers.settings ? mine is corrupt and any change I make will not change the home button behavior. I'm sorry, I'm very new to this.
This what you're looking for?..
http://www.thezengarden.net/files/settings.db
Thanks! However, when I double tap home, I still crash to the home page. And now I can't even download market apps and am getting more errors. I might have to reflash
Can you just go to Settings > Applications > Double Tap Home Launch
And change it there?
I have mine open the Dialer
Edit: I just noticed the list of apps available to this is quite small, so Handcent might not even be listed here

Home2Shortcut

Anyone having issues with Home2Shortcut ? I have used this on my S3 to make Google voice search come up w/ a doublepress of the main button. With the S4, looks like it does not want to work - S-Voice keeps coming up even though I have Voice Search selected and have Home2Shortcut set as a default.
Just curious if anyone has got it working.

S voice is setup to start up by default with the double tap of home button. Go to S Voice App> Settings > Uncheck double tap to start s voice. I did this as soon as I got phone then disabled svoice without clearing its data to avoid the lag when hitting home key
That did it! Thank you my friend.

[Q] Text Blocking

So I've been googling and searching and having trouble nailing down the answer.
Friend of mine has the Galaxy S5 through Verizon
Keeps receiving texts from somebody that she doesn't want to receive texts from.
I've been trying to locate how to block the incoming text. On my S4 I see where I can choose to add the contact to "spam number." I don't see this option on the S5. I looked at the blocking list, but this only blocks a phone call I'm assuming since I added the number and she is still receiving the texts. Anywho, I was going to look in the app store but was wondering if I can do it natively. Thanks for any help.
Go to a text message from the person, tap menu (three dots on top right) , scroll down the menu and 'add to spam numbers'

If it's not there, it's Verizon messing with the phone to make room for their bloatware. How the hell they get away with that I don't know.

Yea, I should have said that doesn't work. Nowhere is there an option to add to spam numbers. That's why I'm having so much trouble. You can't long press on the message. You can't menu into it. You can't go into applications/messaging/spam. Nothing. I'm baffled.

Open the text message sent to you, while on that screen, you will see three vertically aligned dots on the upper right corner of the screen. Touch it to open the menu. Scroll down and you will see "add to spam numbers".
Nope. It's not there. First thing I tried. I can't find an option, in the phone, regarding "spam numbers" at all. Zero.

Weird. All stock firmwares should have the same interface and accessible menus. Maybe she's not using S5?
When you press the 3 dots and the menu pops up you can scroll the menu up for more options..

Verizon tends to remove a lot of features on their phones. Download booster is removed as well.
On my AT&T model using AT&T messages, you click the message, then menu (3 vert. dots). Then add click "add to contact"..."create new". then name it and save it. Within that same new contact, click the menu button at top right. There is an option to "add to reject list".
it may be similar on Verizon if it's not in the top level menu.

Maybe they do that, I'm not familiar with what they do though . I can only think of a reason they did that, maybe they are offering the spam/blocking as a network service for a fee.

Knowing Verizon, they probably do.
I had done this. But it only blocks the phone call. Not the text.
I'm assuming the same as one of the other guys here. I bet if I called Verizon they offer it as a fee. Which is a load of BS.
And yes, it is an S5.

Alternatively your friend could go to the police and file a formal complaint regarding harassment if you cannot find a block button.

Call/Message block setting enabled?
Hey guys, you can try this if you want:
You basically just need to add this to your CSC settings and it will enable a dedicated call/message blocking options in your settings.
This was posted for the Note 1 at the time but I tried it on my Note 3 and it works perfectly fine. I'm thinking it will work perfectly fine for your S5's.

LG hidden Settings menus

Just thought I would cross post here, but I found some hidden settings that I didn't see elsewhere, other than the Access Lock (AppOps)
Here's the Reddit post I made:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg4/comments/3em28o/two_hidden_setting_menus/
EDIT:
http://i.imgur.com/c5DYfg0.png
I went through and tested a bunch of settings and these are what I came up with. This list isn't exhaustive though, as I left out the screen display mentioned in comments as it doesn't seem to work, and I also left out ones related to hardware and capacitive buttons we don't have.
There is also a couple redundant ones there. The Usage Activity Monitors are kind of nifty.
The one I find the most interesting is:
com.android.settings.Settings$ScreenCaptureAreaActivity
As described below, lets you choose to capture the status bar and navigation buttons in your screenshots. Very nifty.
---ORIGINAL POST---
Howdy.
I noticed there's a method for getting Access Lock (AppOps) without root by making a shortcut. (I used QuickShortcutMaker from Play Store, but you may be able to do it with an alternative launcher like Nova)
While I was doing that I fiddled with a few other things I found and I came out with two other hidden setting menus. Though not mind-blowing, I found one of them to be a little useful.
First one is under Settings -> One-Handed Operation. Seems that was available on the G3 but removed by LG for this model. I don't find it too useful as I use knock codes so the pin one doesn't matter, and the dialler option can be accessed in the dialler itself.
The second one, which I find a little more useful, is the Screenshot Settings. It's under Settings -> Screen capture area. When you access this menu you can decide if you want your screencaps to include the navigation buttons and status bar (default), or not. It's a lot nicer taking shots without those areas, so a pretty neat little feature.
Cheers

To anyone that's looking for the hidden menu's on these things and having no luck via google, and is unable to launch the hidden menu's due to permission errors and force closes, I figured them out.
Enter the code you want into the dialer. Substitute any xxx's by the model number. For VS986 that would be 986. If asked for a service code enter six zeros. That's "000000".

For the H812, I found that many of the previously posted hidden setting codes did nothing when I punched them into the dialer. I was also unable to launch the hidden menus by creating shortcuts, I kept getting an error that the com.lge.permission.LGHIDDEN permission was required.
In the end, I was able to open the hidden settings menus by using this command in a shell with root access:
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.lge.hiddenmenu/className (for example: com.lge.hiddenmenu/.HiddenMenu)
I used the Activity Launcher app to get a list of all the com.lge.hiddenmenu classes. There wasn't much in any of them that I found very useful, but it was fun looking.

Since the Permission thing might be a common problem, I built Root capability into ActivityLauncher. ActivityLauncher will now try without root, and if it fails, it will try the root console command.
Get it here:

Does this menu allow to change the provider, i.e. to unbrand or brand phones?

App linking

Does someone have a fix for app not linking to each other:
I mean when I am on Tumblr and I click on a Flickr or Instagram link it opens an in app page instead of opening the wanted app.
I don't have this problem on my Xiaomi so I guess it is a ROM issue?
Sent from my LG-H870DS using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Wild guess, one time you had allowed it to stay in browser, set it for default.
Go to Settings - Application Manager. Click the three dots in the upper right of the screen, select "Reset default apps". You should now get prompted for what you want to use.
Doesn't work.
Have done for Tumblr itself, Flickr, Google app and still clicking on a Flickr link in Tumblr opens the link inside the app instead of opening Flickr (and the same for other apps)

Is it opening a Web page?
On gmail links were automatically opening within the gmail app, which i didn't want. Within gmail i went to Settings to turn that off (the first cleared checkbox in the attached image):

You correct it from whatever app is misbehaving. I showed the gmail settings previously, here is the tapatalk settings - in tapatalk I had to select "Do not use in-app browser"

I have searched thoroughly inside Tumblr settings and haven't found such option
Maybe it has to do with the "Android Web View" service app but I don't know how to change its settings.

If it's specifically that one app (for instance Chrome) has been set to default for some things, and you don't want it, go to Settings - Apps, then scroll and click on Chrome. In the App info window that opens, click on "'Open by default", then select "Clear defaults"
Otherwise, try Settings - Application manager -- the triple dots in the upper right - Configure apps - App links
This opens up an app list.
Select facebook (assuming it is installed). Make sure that "Open supported links" is set to either "Open in this app" or "Ask every time", and "Supported links" should show fb.com and a couple facebook.com entries.
Otherwise you're down to the Reset app preferences and Reset default apps choices, global, which will involve reselecting a bunch of things (assuming you've already customized your preferences for a lot of stuff)

I have already tried the two first things you said.
I would have to try to reset all apps settings but I am not sure it would work as it is not my first android and I am near damn sure I hadn't messed with app links when I first used the apps on this phone.
Do you have Tumblr or similar third party apps that go to another third party app without opening link inside the app?

Have you done a force stop, clear data, clear cache, then uninstall/reinstall? Sometimes that gets rid of garbage.

Have just done that, still no luck...
Can it be a ROM problem or an app (Tumblr) problem?
Thank you for your involvement again.
