[Q] I need advice on how to get my perks - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) General

I've been waiting a week. I've called them 5 times. Each time I call in and confirm information they have to correct something. The person I spoke to before today spoke perfect English and checked my information at least 2 times before we hung up (ie spelled out e-mail giving examples of words that start with the letters).
I don't think I'm ever going to get my perks. Is there ANYTHING else I can do? Is there some complaint department I can reach out to?

Mine were just emailed to me after a little finagling ... Done through the email on your Samsung account.

What exactly do you mean by finagling?

I would just call:
Samsung direct support: 1-800-726-7864
Have them put your info in and see if that works. It took two calls on two different days to get mine :/

I've called 5 times already. Each time I call back and check the status they tell me my ticket is still pending. When we verify information the information is always wrong by one letter. Each time I've spoken with someone we've carefully input my information by spelling out the info slowly and providing examples of words of each letter. The last person I spoke to before today had an American accent so I asked him to double check for me again, and what he repeated back to me was incorrect. So together we made sure that it was correct. Today when I called they had my e-mail messed up again. I f***ing lost it. These people are just screwing with me now. This is ridiculous. Someone is supposed to call me back within 1 to 2 business days. But guess what? It's either one day or 4 days 'cause I know that person doesn't work on the weekends.

I'm just going to start recording all the phone calls I make with them to build a case that someone is tampering with my record to delay my service. I really don't understand why it's so difficult for them to send me my codes.

Spoofed phone, and replies...

Been using Google voice (not religiously due to family not the most tech savvy). This morning, I wake up, and I find a total of 8 messages from starting from 10:30 at night, to 07:59 this AM. There are a total of 3 reply backs, all having personal information attached to them).
Researching the number back shows an area code of 734 (Ann Arbor), which is ironically the prefix I chose since I previously worked there at U of M.
The really interesting part is that I have a bit of a "stalker" at work, whose number I've blacklisted courtesy of Verizon wireless, and have not had any issues in say 1.5 months. 2 nights ago while at work she asked about setting up a google voice account after just purchasing a Samsung S, stating "I don't have any clue how to set this up". Was a bit busy at the time (patient going bad, honestly didn't really care", and opened up the app and told her to browse through it to get an idea.
How can I track this number (really think it's her) and verify it. I have a harassment case pending in HR regarding her, and would like to have it as material to provide it it really is her. Second, how the hell can my phone respond back? I have "Unknown sources" checked as I use Ti backup.
Any help more than appreciated. Thanks in advance!
LOL Holy christ no. One of the "you can take the girl from the trailer...." She's done this before to others at work, with the last moving to Canada (I **** you not) with his wife and 2 daughters. Been getting worse, hence my interaction with my manager and HR.
google voice also can use your email to reply back to texts..is your email compromised? Change your passwords..and do a hard reset..if you are using TI..just wipe and reinstall ROM...
It's hard to say what/if she did something...but yeah, thats weird.
edit: I live in Ann Arbor, but I wasn't the one...haha.
pretend how u have this treasure in nigeria, and ask her to "help" you bring it here.
Christ, I never thought of that, and I do have that option checked.
Sigh... I just did a complete backup 8 days ago, only difference is 2 games, and I can re-download those.
Google voice already uninstalled. After that I'm going to get number changed, and see if I can get it "unlisted" by Verizon.
What else, any other suggestions are more than welcome and appreciated!
Added question.

Somali pirates would probably ship her back, and the waters over there are dirty enough. No need to have Green Peace involved.... or maybe so... thoughts to ponder
Any way I can trace that number back to her original phone number?

do a reverse number lookup and google voice numbers are listed as grandcentral in their service provider. that will tell u at the very least that its a GV number.
Well, after logging into Google voice, somehow her number (which is and has been blocked by Verizon) is listed as a secondary phone, receive text messages on this phone has been checked, PIN not required checked, and never ring. Multiple sign-in is enabled as well.
Just outstanding. Changed email to some bs address. Will verify and forget, as has password to something ridiculous. Any other suggestions?

Document everything that has happened, as thoroughly as possible. Get whatever confirmation you can from Google that shows that your account was somehow compromised.
This chica sounds like she is serious business and doesn't mind playing these games long term. If she compromised your communications you can be sure that it was not just some isolated fun. She most likely mined your account for whatever info she could, and it's possible that she sent things 'on your behalf' that she can later use to accuse you of something.
Change all of your passwords immediately: banking, paypal, email, etc. If she was able to compromise one, it's likely she got into another.
It sounds like worrying about Google Voice or your phone is the least of your concerns: the symptom rather than the disease.
Seriously consider retaining a lawyer for whatever may come of all this insanity.
Maybe it sounds like I'm overreacting but I've seen the havoc that can come from such a situation and from your description, this sounds like it could go all sorts of awful ways.
I dunno... I think you like her.
i think you should talk to the police about this... not XDA... or maybe springer... he always gets the truth out

OK wait one second here... a woman is "stalking" you and you are having issues with this?? Are you another woman? You can't be a guy because it is impossible to 1. rape a guy and 2. stalk a guy.
This is so much BS. if you were really bothered by this person why do you talk to her? why do you bother with her? I think you are her stalker, thats more believable.
I have been stalked by a chick. Its creepy. You get stalked when they're fat and scary looking. So it is possible.
Didn't know that they controlled how fast you post on here if your a new user. That is insane. But understandable.

Aside from just simply changing your passwords, change your security questions to the accounts as well.
Document everything and hand it over to HR
There's also an option to change your google voice number, if you dont mind choosing a new one.
Somewhere in the settings on the desktop site.

Hey Ryan - thanks for selling the phone to me for $130.
You received my PayPal payment and I am still waiting to receive tracking information.
Under normal circumstances, a message like this would be more appropriate to send through private channels, but I have tried emailing you for three days and calling you back at your google voice number without success. You were very easy to get a hold of before I paid, but seem to have vanished the moment I requested tracking information.
I hope you are not up to something sneaky. I assume with your online presence on twitter, in your blog, and elsewhere, that you're not trying to deceive me, and that you've simply decided to take a break from the internet and from your phone for a few days.
Hmm, except your twitter account was updated just hours ago?
Further googling shows you're actually an Android Developer. Therefore, you probably pretty much know this phone is permanently bricked, but when we talked you came across as though you weren't familiar with procedures for recovering from a soft brick. I find that difficult to believe given your Android experience.
Send me my brick, or send me a refund.
I bought a bricked phone, yes, but right now I feel like my brain is bricked for buying it.

Don't give up cuz I was in the same position. Plus the best way to learned is from your mistakes. YouTube & Google good tools to learn. YouTube give you visualization & Google the reading understanding part. I believe you can fix your phone no need to sale it. One thing you need to be patient if not you are not going to learn. Without being patient is important in doing all this learning about Android OS. Modifying, rooting & flash customs roms.

Lucky you that he sold the phone to you.

Need help from an ASUS REP reguarding RMA

Hoping some ASUS REPS still lurk around in here. My TF101 is in for it's 3rd time for intermittent touchscreen issues. The first time I sent it in they simply reflashed and sent back with same problem. Being the procrastinator I am I waited too long to send it in a second time so I had to pick up the freight costs to send it in the second time. Second time they replace the touch panel and it comes back and is even worse than the first time I sent it in. Touchscreen non-responsive more than before and seems to have a bad spot where the letter "i" is when you bring up the keyboard as instead of one "i" it almost always does a double "ii" This time I sent it back right away and ASUS picked up the freight. My wife is going crazy without her tablet and I have very little confidence that the issue will be resolved. I can't even track the RMA on the ASUS website this time around as it comes up is invalid. Is there an ASUS REP out there that can PLEASE help me get this issues resolved??? I am at my wit's end here!
Have tried contacting Gary Key... Will see what happens.

I wouldn't rely on their web site. I've found it to be full of bad links, so your RMA may be there but their abysmal web site can't pull it up. (Ironic that a technology company has such a hard time with this...)
FYI, I've learned the hard way not to rely on their e-mail support. The web site says they escalate it if unanswered after 48 hours. I waited a week or so, then submitted a second request. It took 3 weeks to get a reply, only to get conflicting information from the two service representatives.
I'm beginning to wonder if I chose the wrong product.
Are you talking about the Asus RMA website where you enter in the number or another piece of identifying information like phone number?
I found that sometimes the webform would not let me see my RMA unless I put in my phone number, not the RMA number. Sometimes it would work with just my RMA number and sometimes it wouldn't and I would have to put my phone number in there. You may as well try all of the fields on the webform.

Exactly.. I have tried every combination and can't get anything to come up. It shows up in the system when you call tech support though. Gary was quick to respond and sent me over to a couple folks that could help me. My transformer showed up there 2/16 and does not show as being received in their system yet according to the person helping me, but he emailed the repair facility supervisor to have my RMA expedited. By expedite I hope they don't just mean a quick turnaround, as I want to get back a 100% working transformer this time. Will keep this post updated on my outcome.
Just to follow up on this post, Gary and Hai took VERY good care of me. Once the repair facility found my transformer Hai 2nd Day Aired a new transformer to me on 2-21 coming from Cali. It should be here tomorrow! The serial number begins with C20 which I believe might be a brand new unit manufactured February 2012?? Will update this post tomorrow and let you guys know if I get a working transformer. Big thanks to Gary and Hai for making this happen!

Stolen N4 - Who blocks IMEI?

Hi folks.
I feel stupid (and angry) as hell right now. The worst part is that I can't even explain how it happened. I'm the most careful person in the world with my phone, and haven't lost a smartphone in, like, a decade, but I believe I have just had my N4 stolen from me. I had it, then I put it in my pocket, stood up for 10 minutes, then it was gone, and, of course, immediately switched off. All my careful planning is null and void; once it's stolen / off, there's very little that pintail, plan b, lookout etc can do. (?)
Anyway, I just need to know where and how I get the IMEI blocked? It was bought directly from Google, not via a carrier. Does anyone know?
Thanks. I'm off to dust off my credit card, and try to replace my baby
I would think talking to your carrier would be a good idea since they have access to block imei's. Even if they can't they are best able to point you in the right direction.

Badass. But just tell Google. They can block it from T-Mobile and AT&T. I think straight talk too. Emails take along while but they do get back to you. I would put flyers up near where it was stolen that say the phone has been deactivated and will not work on any carrier. If it is returned to you there will be no questions asked ( maybe even lie about a reward) see what happens. You can say my number is on the lock screen or call this number in the contacts. Maybe they will just return it to lost and found or something. Could be it died and you just left it somewhere and someone picked it up to give it to lost and found?

How much of a fake reward would be required for a thief to return a phone? $100 bucks? Not worth incriminating myself. $200 bucks? Then my BS detector goes off because you are approaching the price of purchasing a new one.

There was literally ten or fifteen minutes between me sitting at the table in the bar using my phone, and it being switched off when I asked my girlfriend to call it. I guess I was pickpocketed when I went outside for a smoke. Sucks, but this is what credit is for, I guess. I'd only just paid off my card
I just want to block that SoB from using it. I'm still no nearer to finding the right contact at Google.
If they didn't wipe your phone, go to Google Play on the web and install Plan B to your phone. It will tell you where it is.

The phone was stolen and switched off within ten to fifteen minutes of the last time I had it in my hand. Pretty tough to install Plan B in those circumstances I have various apps for locating it, as well as a number of Tasker scripts to locate, erase, etc. but they are all pretty much worthless the minute the thief has switched off the phone.
--
I have tracked down the phone number for US Google Device Support , which I have called and they appear to have it in hand, although they have had to escalate my call to a specialist as they were not sure if they could block the IMEI.
Thanks all for taking the time to reply. My new phone has been ordered and should be here in a few days. Everything's backed up to Dropbox, so I'm only down a bit of money and some inconvenience. It could be worse.

Pretty tough to install Plan B in those circumstances I have various apps for locating it, as well as a number of Tasker scripts to locate, erase, etc. but they are all pretty much worthless the minute the thief has switched off the phone.

Yeah, at least you weren't hurt in the incident. It sucks to have your stuff stolen (I had a phone stolen about 2 years ago in a mugging) but at the end of the day we move on and don't let it get us down. I've found that I'm now much more cautious with my electronics in public, which I guess is a good thing.
Hello there, sorry to hear about your situation. I actually JUST lost my Nexus 4 this past weekend as well. Were you able to get a resolution from the Google team regarding the block on the IMEI? I've tried searching around for more info but haven't been able to find much. What ended up happening if you don't mind me asking?

[Q] Found Phone, what now?

Dear community,
Recently I found a Samsung Galaxy S5 on a football pitch, while playing. I'm living in the middle of nowhere, so i decided to wait for somebody to call it. There were no contacts or something like that, only 2 pictures of some strange stuff:laugh: Now I've waited for 2 weeks, and nobody has called the phone or anything. Now I decided to keep the phone. I factory resetted the phone and deleted all data and cache, it's completely empty now. My question is, can the phone be tracked by using findmyphone even though I've resetted it, or do I have to install a new Rom on it?
Sorry for my English btw
Cheers

At this point I don't think phone can be trackable, if you waited for 2 weeks that was enough time for them to tracking it down if phone was set up for some kind of tracking app. Have you checked the ESN/IMEI? may be reported as lost now
Would be interesting what strange stuff was on the pictures. Was the phone part of a crime? Were it nude photos?
We will never know because you just deleted everything.
Depending on what was on the phone I would have brought it to the police or to a shop of the carrier used (if found with sim card). They could have found the owner within minutes or at least a few hours.
Despite that every phone has a so called IMEI number which can be tracked down independent from the sim used. You can change that number if you know how but there is a high risk of hard bricking the phone. And in fact I hope you hard brick it because you just deleted someones phone without trying to find the owner.
Have a nice day.

So you're trying to prevent the real owner of the phone from tracking/finding his own phone?
Guys, it's been 2 weeks since he found the phone, he said he didn't get any calls, is not like he found the phone this morning and couple hours later he did a reset. If he is telling the truth

2 weeks don't make a difference. This is not right. He could still try to find the owner. And at least not try to prevent being tracked. Too sad that you support such behaviour.

Yeah... if the owner wanted his phone back, why didn't he look for it? 2 weeks not even a call!
Depending on where you live like in UK the network could sim block it if the owner decided to by calling their provider meaning it couldn't work on any network, so if you ever decide to sell it just remember there's always that risk.
I smell some fishy fishy business. How plausible is it for OP to find a phone with no contact/log/message list whatsoever?
I mean, not even a single text message?
Then OP would like to modify the phone to prevent it from ever being recovered. Sorry buddy, you won't find assistance here.
Classic symptoms of a "I illegitimately acquired a phone, and do not wish to return it!"
The phone is trackable through IMEI. Your local telecom commission has the power to block usage from the phone rendering it useless to you.
Well, if it has a Sim card in it, it should display what carrier network it's on...take it to them or the police. Doesn't sound like you tried very hard to find the owner or you stole it.

Well you did a factory reset so i guess you had the intention to keep the phone.
Finders keepers???

two weeks....Two months or 2 years won't matter...he isn't the real owner of the phone...and trying to blocking it from being tracked by original owner is the part that I have a beef with....He needs to turn it in tot he local police station and they will decide to give it back to him after a while that it's been unclaimed. He doesn't have the legal or moral authority to decide when he's gonna magically turn into the owner of the phone.

And what is the police going to do? nothing. They are busy resolving REAL crime not trying to find the owner of a lost cell phone, whom by the way may not even filed a lost report

Yeah... because in the real world you find a phone and you waste time and effort to try to find the owner, when the owner doesn't even care.
Around 80% of my contacts doesn't memorize their own number, moreso memorize other people's number which are already saved in their contact list. If he doesn't make a backup (gmail or not) he won't have any way to contact his own number. He can probably return the phone and sim to the carrier and they will contact the owner.
I'm saying that there is no real effort on his side and he clearly has intention not to return he phone. If there's a will, there's a way.
Report it as found at the local police and at the provider and wait if the owner will claim it.

I have to agree... doesnt matter how long its been. It matters what you've done to find the owner. The most obvious thing would be to get the number/carrier off the phone and take it to one of their stores as they can easily look up the number and know who it belongs to
