Two issues that are honestly quite annoying - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Firstly I love my Note 3 and if not for these issues it would be a 10/10.
My first issue is that occasionally the phone will freeze up for a few seconds regardless of the app I'm in and will tell me essentially that Samsung Watchon has forceclosed. Happens all the time and I have no idea why.
Secondly when in a call if I put it on speakerphone and leave the phone app to perform other tasks while on the phone the proximity sensor still acts as if it is not on speaker. The screen shuts off if i try to slide down the status bar or something which is quite irritating.
If you guys have any idea what could cause this or how to fix it it would be much appreciated. Gratzi

I have that force close of watchon also

My watchon did that right at first, but after setting it up, it hasn't crashed since.

An update????? Nooooooooo! I hope not cause I have my phone just perfect. It is running smoothly and so far the call quality is decent enough for me. I use bluetooth most of the time or my gear.

I just deleted the update and the app itself dont plan on getting watch it worked for me now no problems

Well that blows haha. Cmon samsung I expected perfection at that price. Anyways is anyone else experiencing the proximity sensor doing that? It's only once I leave the phone app it starts interfering.

#1 i just setup WatchOn and it stopped because i was having this issue as well. no other apps are causing me issues
#2 i have same problem and its the same with my S4 and also my RAZR HD
as far as an update coming i have frozen SDM.apk and will definitely not be taking any updates until it looks safe for root and possible unlock. i saw a lot of people take the S4 update shortly after release and they were not happy campers

Not only is watchon a buggy POS, it runs in the BG all the time.
That was one of the first things I disabled.

WatchON is kind of useful, I think. I used to get the FC warnings a lot at the beginning, but after running the app and setting it up and adding my TV to the remote devices, I haven't had a problem since.

I had problems with watchON crashing when I opened news stand. But I've since turned it off.
As for the speaker phone I've never had that problem.

1.WatchOn pop up errors stopped after it was set up.
2. You can turn off the proximity sensor during calls if you want in the call settings menu.

Bizarre clicking noise

My Zoom has started making a loud clicking noise intermittently. Not related to touching the screen. Just a loud click now and then. Almost like a static discharge. Not related to volume settings. Anyone else have this? Any ideas?

Looks like another fanboy post? A cockroach got inside during installation, you'll have to return your xoom and buy an ipad 2 ?????
The only way you'll take my Xoom is to pry it from my cold dead hands. But I'm just wondering how best to kill the cockroach!
Mine just started doing this today. I really dont want to have to exchange it for a new one at best buy, thats such a hassle!
i think it's because you are running overclocked. Minw started this after I clocked it to 1.5ghz, set it to 1.2 and no longer does this.
My Epic 4G just recently started doing this intermittently over the past week or two. I'm guessing that it is related to some app that I installed, but I haven't been able to track it down yet.
Mine was doing the same a day or two back sounded like the speakers were clicking for no reason at all, i'm running stock with no hacks or anything of the kind.
Happens to me everytime I run FPSE, doesn't go away until I restart Xoom.
I had this same issue. 2 things I have tracked it down to. Rockplayer pausing a movie. And trillian. I had to uninstall trillian as itwas driving me crazy.

Mine is not rooted and it does it at times. I have to restart the device. I wonder how many other people have this problem.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
I had this happen only one time. I was using Remote Desktop from Xtralogic one night and it started making a weird clicking or electrical discharge noise. It sounded like it was coming from the speaker.
I finished my work that night on our server and turned off the Xoom. Never had it happen since.
My Xoom is rooted and overclocked to 1.4Ghz. Most of its use is Remote Desktop, ConnectBot, QuickSSHd and Kindle.

Yeh mine was doing it today, couldn't figure out what was going on. Prob just a software glitch or something causing the speakers to pop.

often happens to me after running some media players like upnpplayer
Did you force close or clear data from some media app running in the background? One or the background items tracks built in ringtones and wiping data will make it forget the factory ringtones. Maybe it's clicking because it's no longer playing a proper audio file?
You'll have to make it rebuild itself somehow if that's the case. Mine fixed itself after a reboot or two.

Twitching screen

I've noticed an annoying bug on my touch screen on my sgs2, and wondered if anyone else has this problem.
Basically, the problem seems to be able to be reproduced by, for example, scrolling the settings menu with your finger, then stopping, but leaving your finger pressed on the screen, as if you were holding it still with your finger. Mine seems to be twitching and moving around slightly, it doesn't stay still.
Not a big deal you may think... But if your an angry birds player or a player of any game or app that requires precision movements then this is an annoying bug.
I'm on ke1. Can anyone else try this for me? Cheers.
Mine had stopped doing it now... But, I have noticed it before, so it seems I have an intermittent problem / fault / bug. Anyway, can everyone post here if they notice this... It happens in every app I've used that involves scrolling.
Nope, mine doesn't do this. And I'm glad about it! Sucks man, trey flashing a different rom.

Depends on quality of electric supply out of socket as well as which charger in my experience.

3rd party charger (I leave my sammy one at home, I'm just using a spare for work)....

[Q] Galaxy S4 - reboot launching camera from lockscreen

I also have this problem after the update whenever I launch the camera not only from the lock screen.

Happening here too, works after reboot though. Think its got something to do with device heat? Cause the other day the cam app force closed cause device was too hot -_-
I am facing this problem but not just open from the lock screen. It happens even when I open other camera app.
And the camera start up time is way too slow compared to my previous Android phones.

Go to developer options and change "limit background processes" to 4. It should work.

my s4 (i9500) has rebooted couple of times whenever I open camera app. (running latest firmware)
I'm also experiencing the same problems, also, sometimes when i tap the take picture button it won't take a picture regardless of how many times I tap the button.
Lets hope update comes soon too fix this .. its getting anoying
Thank god I'm not alone on this. I thought I had a bad unit. And yeah, on mine too it started after the update. It was fine before. It's less frequent now as I wake the phone, launch something else before going to the camera. Avoids an unnecessary reboot. But the camera launch lag is bad. Launching the camera on my S3 was much, much faster.
have the same issue..

Nexus 4 Bugs

I want to ask if anybody has similar bugs to a non-rooted, locked, stock nexus 4 on 4.2.2 and would like to know on how to fix them. I have factory reset the phone and always seem to get the same results. I don't mind these little bugs, but they are making me want to root my phone.
1. While listening to Google music, I would try to unlock my phone and Google music screen widget would flicker and shake and make unlocking difficult I provided the picture on the attachment.
2. Another bug while still listening to Google music; it would dim more than normally it would in a shorter amount of time on lock screen.
3. Almost every time I open YouTube, the YouTube window animation flickers.
4. Battery drops 2-5% when the phone is rebooted.
5. Phone battery % drops after being fully charged and unplugged.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
4 and 5 are caused by a slightly wrong calibrated battery if you reset the calibration files (here is a tut somewhere) or just do only full cycles for a few weeks this shouldn't be a problem because it is just a displayed drop I think I'm rooted and don't listen much to Google music so no comment to 1 and 2.
3 isn't known to me.
Just a quick answer haha
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
Thank you, I'm going to look on how to properly calibrate the battery. These little bugs can get frustrating at times.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Don't know about 1 and 2.
3) The youtube app is a buggy piece of sh*t, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.
4) The battery percentage drop on rebooting has occured on every ROM I tried so far, so I don't really care. Well, maybe not 5%, but 1-2% is normal for me.
5) Happens to me occasionally, I don't really mind if it drops to 99% straight away, it's only correct. 100% would mean that your battery is perfectly fully charged. When you unplug it, some tiny (seriously) amount of power is being used due to the fact that your screen turns on, right?
Try cleaning the app data and cache for Play Music and Youtube (settings > apps) and see if it gives any result.
Thank you for helping. I forgot to mention another bug that is probably the worst. When receiving a phone call, I pick up the phone and the screen turns off. I try to turn the screen on and it doesn't respond. This bug has made me miss calls various times.

Mh well your on/off presses sometimes interfere with the proximity sensor on your phone this "issue" sometimes causes wild screen on/off during call because I click the button but the screen was already turning on because I no more held it next to my ear so it turns off again so I click again to turn on but hold the phone to my ear shortly to check whether the other person is still in call so proximity sensor reacts.... Repeat n-times. But that doesn't sound like your problem. Could you describe it more specific?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
When receiving a phone call, I pick it up the phone and the screen turns off and doesn't respond to the power button. I have to tilt the phone until it turns on and until I get a chance to answer the call. Proximity sensor/s does sound to be the cause of this. Any way to fix this?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Phew I don't think so... But changing habits... I'm working on a solution for my random clicking but I think the only way to solve that is to give the phone more time to react before pressing power button because it'll turn screen on/off as you would like it to but it needs a short period of time for that
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta

Yeah, uninstalling and updating apps doesn't work. I've been doing that since the longest and no fix. Factory resetting or even flashing stock doesn't seem to fix these bugs either. Hopefully later on they find a solution. I didn't mind these bugs at first, but after a while, it got frustrating.

2. Another bug while still listening to Google music; it would dim more than normally it would in a shorter amount of time on lock screen.
Don't notice this because I always sleep the phone manually after choosing music.
3. Almost every time I open YouTube, the YouTube window animation flickers.
Never have experienced this.
4. Battery drops 2-5% when the phone is rebooted.
This can happen, yes. Stop rebooting so much.

This happens about 95% of the time. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for your reply. For the Google Music apk, I don't use any lock screen widget. When I listen to the music and try to unlock it, that's when it gets buggy. Either the widget shakes or the screen dims more than normally it would. I only reboot I once a day every morning in order to reduce lag and refresh the system.
I guess I don't know what you mean with the music app. What Rom are you on?
Sent from my Nexus 4
I'm on stock rom, unrooted and locked. I was on cyanognemod, unofficial miui, and decided to go back to stock. I have enjoyed stock until bugs started happening. When I listen to Google Play Music; there are times when I turn my phone on and try to unlock the screen, the Google Music widget shakes and makes it difficult to unlock.
Found another bug. Not annoying but its just there. When applying a stock wallpaper and you immediately scroll left or right, you get this result.

May be it's just the universe trolling you saying "one does not simply not root a nexus".
Yes most of the bugs you mentioned are present and they are fixed in most of the custom ROMs.

My LED Flash bulb went out...

Disappointed in the quality. I'm 90% sure it's physically out, but let's see if there's any way to troubleshoot.
Basically, was working fine initially, but it is not something I often use camera/camera flash. I found a thread about the hidden "torchlight" setting so that holding up on the volume when the screen is off turns on the light of X amount of seconds. It was working fine, but then yesterday I saw that it wasn't working.
I didn't think much of it, maybe some app I downloaded caused a conflict. But I just tried it with the camera flash and other flashlight apps and I get no light at all.
Any suggestions? Or am I going to have to deal with VZW.
Had the same problem. Camera flash and flashlight app stopped working. Tried different apps no help. Rebooted the phone and all is working now. Mine is still stock, not rooted
