[Q] Is there any news on Galaxy S5? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have found news on Samsung Galaxy S5. These sites are saying that the device will carry aluminium body and many sensors like fingerprint, barometer, etc.
Are these news trues?
I have seen news on galaxys5news.com, galaxys5price.com and galaxys5.us.

Your guess is as good as anybody else's, buddy. That's why they are rumors.

That box so easily faked that it cannot be easily accepted as proof. While it would be nice we can't take it on face value.

galaxy note 3 with 5.7" display and really good frame has 3200mAh
3600mAh battery will be too large fot 5.25" of Galaxy S5 but it s possible for samsung to use another battery tech instead of Li-Ion batteries.

Fake Galaxy Note 3?

I bought a white version of Note 3 from a guy on Craigslist and even though it looks like real thing, it felt like something was missing. It came with original box but the back cover was from Tmobile Note 3 and the S-Pen was generic. Seller told me that he lost those things that's why he to bought after market ones.
I just ran CPU-Z on the phone and it shows the following info
CPU: AMR Cortex A-7
Cores: 4
Clockspeed: 479 - 1.21 GHz
GPU Vendor: Imagination Technologies
GPU Renderer: PowerVR SGX 544MP
Model: GT-N900 (wingtech89_we_jb2)
Manufacturer: Samsung
Screen Resolution: 720 x 1280
Density: 320 dpi
Total RAM: 971 MB
As far as software is concerned the UI and everything else looks like Note 3. It even has all the Samsung customizations which makes me think that it is indeed the real thing but hardware says specs say otherwise. Also, I was not able to get the IR blaster working after installing Peel app. Is there any other way to check whether it has IR or not?
Question is, did I get totally F***ED or is CPU-Z showing in correct information ? If it is in deed a fake, has anyone sees anything it before?

It sounds a lot like a fake, the resolution gives it away, the Galaxy Note 3 has an 1080P display, I would suggest trying to contact them/contact the police if necessary
S-pen is the same color but it does not have a button on it.
I've been trying to contact him but he is not picking up the phone or replying to texts.

I've seen the fakes.
The "samsung ****" as you call it is also a fake try to clone it, with nearly everything under the standards of the real software.
Another thing that totally gives it away is that samsung named it the SM-900 and not the GT-900 as the fakes name it (following older galaxy phones)
The CPU also shows a cortex A7 which is crap (same as the extra "small" cores on the Octa)
The RAM is also abysmal at 1GB compared to 3GB.
This is not even comparable to a Samsung Galaxy S3.

At this point, you are dealing with someone who sold you a fraudulent item. Call the police.
In the UK the police won't help if you have used gumtree or Craigslist.
Reply to his ad for the galaxy s4, either inform the police of the information on him, though I doubt it would help.
Or meet up with him again take a few guys with you and threaten the scammer

Use an alternative number to contact him about buying the S4
then arrange to buy the phone when he shows up BOOM gotcha
How much did you pay for it could also be a good indication that its fake
I cant imagine anyone selling for a penny less than £400

Call from another number.
Ask to buy a Galaxy S4 from him, call the police and you'll both arrive and bang.
475$ is waaaay too much for what he sold you.
If it's missing the void stickers it could be a reconditioned phone.
One other thing. If you paid through your bank you can contact them & tell them you are the victim of fraud & they should get your money back.
If you paid in cash then you will have trouble getting your money even if you meet him.
Also you could text him & tell him you are going to run an advert warning others about his phones if he doesn't reply & sort it out.
This is the exact same phone as the one I bought.

[Q] Galaxy S5 : Exynos vs Snapdragon

I'm tempted to upgrade my decrepit S2. Now with the S4 it seemed like the choice was like this
1) The Snapdragon based i9505 had better battery life, stability and LTE. It was supported well by Cyanogenmod
2) The Exynos based i9500 didn't have any of that stuff.
On the other hand the Exynos version was the only version on sale in Taiwan where I live. Now I could get an i9505 in the UK but the UK's a horrible place to buy phones or indeed anything - the prices are the highest in the world and Samsung products sold in Europe had funny SIM locking issues.
w w w.extremetech.com/electronics/167621-how-samsung-is-region-locking-the-galaxy-s4-and-note-3-and-what-it-means-for-you
NB links are nerfed to avoid the spam filter - s/w w w/www/g to make them work
So I decided to pass on the S4.
Is the same thing going to happen with the S5? I've found a list of model numbers
w w w.sammobile.com/2014/01/29/all-model-numbers-sm-g900-galaxy-s5-confirmed/
- SM-G9006V_CHN_CHN (China)
- SM-G9008V_CHN_ZM (China)
- SM-G9009D_CHN_CTC (China)
- SM-G900A_NA_ATT (AT&T)
- SM-G900D_JPN_DCM (Japan)
- SM-G900F_EUR_XX (Open Europe)
- SM-G900H_EUR_XX (Open Europe)
- SM-G900I_SEA_XSA (Asia)
- SM-G900J_JPN_KDI (Japan)
- SM-G900K_KOR_KTC (Korea)
- SM-G900L_KOR_LGC (Korea)
- SM-G900M_LA_VF (Vodafone)
- SM-G900P_NA_SPR (Sprint)
- SM-G900R4_NA_USC (US Cellular)
- SM-G900S_KOR_SKC (Korea)
- SM-G900T_NA_TMB (T-Mobile)
- SM-G900V_NA_VZW (Verizon)
- SM-G900W8_NA_BMC (BMC)
I also know that the ones on sale in Taiwan are SM-G900I. I guess the question is whether they are Exynos or Snapdragon?
Of course it's also possible that Samsung have fixed the issues with the Exynos that caused Exynos based S4's to have worse battery life - rumoured to be that the Cache Coherent Interconnect bus didn't work and had to be disabled. Even so I think custom Roms are important and for the S2-S4 Snapdragon based devices have been better supported by them.
Questions
1) Am I right that Snapdragon based S5's are a better bet?
2) Is the SM-G900I Snapdragon or Exynos?
3) Does anyone know a shop near New York or Washington where I could pick up a SIM unlocked Snapdragon S5 for a reasonably price? I think I'll be on the East Coast of the US for a business trip in a month or so so I could get one then.
I personally will choose Snap not Exynos as its always hot whike processing. This been proved from various Samsung models.
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
The Exynos version is expected to pack the new 5422 SoC that supports HMP, so it should be able to run all 8 cores at once, in which case it will be definitely faster than the 801. Battery life is a big question, but the Exynos 6 Hexa in the Note 3 Neo ain't bad at all, so the new Octa at the minimum looks promising.

Not to mention Exynos = Perseus kernel = MFin' win.

Not Galaxy S2, Note1 and S3 (with S3 the actual problem is the RAM, not the CPU). At that time, US versions use what people called Crapdragon.
Note 2 has Exynos version only, but it's very hard to get hot, highest stability result ever in any mobile phone, and the best battery life at its time.

Yup!
Snapdragon version would be better IMO because it will have more dev support than the exynos version.
snadragon version also has LTE
And yes, the i9505 had better battery life than the i9500.
correct me if i am wrong, but the exynos octa used in the S4 isnt too different from the one used in the S5?
So if that were true, the snapdragon 801 should create an even bigger gap between the new exynos octa in terms of battery life.
Hmm.. exynos s4 has longer battery, you can check thread in xda or ericca griffin youtube comparison

The New Exynos is much better with HMP and a better GPU than the Exynos used in the S4.
It is similar to the one used in the Note 3. The Exynos version of the Note 3 has good battery life and is as good as the SD800 version.

Not so much with Qualcomm's envelope tracking technology. LTE can be more efficient than old school 3G antennas, although much depends on reception (usually stronger for 3G).

[Discussion] New Samsung Galaxy S6?

It’s 2015 and hence time for a new Galaxy S Series flagship from Samsung. In earlier reports Samsung has claimed that it will completely change what we have witnessed in the Galaxy S line so far, starting from scratch there will be an all new Galaxy S6. As it goes for a Samsung flagship, the specifications that the Galaxy S6 will hold will be nothing short of impressing but the dream to get 4 Gigs of Ram isn’t just here yet. The Galaxy S6 is already cooking up and not a long time back arrived in India for R&D purposes, hence our sources have managed to secure some information on the specifications the flagship will boast.
These specifications are intended for the Asian units, that have since beginning relied on the Exynos SoC’s. The variants intended for the North American and European markets will be using a Snapdragon SoC’s instead (Snapdragon 810 Likely), while keeping the Ram, Display, Battery and undisclosed specs identical.
Also beside the already anticipated spec-sheet, the Galaxy S6 will be using a Metal Exterior (similar to Galaxy A Series) with a new much slimmer design. Stay tuned for more updates and feel free to share your thoughts about the next Galaxy S flagship.
SPECS:
5.2 Inch Quad HD Display (Amoled)
3GB Ram & 64GB Internal Storage (Micro SD Missing in test Units)
Non-removable Battery (2800mAh)
Exynos 7420 Octa-Core Processor (Dual Quad-Core)
Finger Print Scanner
Heart Rate Monitor
Android 5.0.1 (running units)
20MP Rear & 5MP Front Camera Unit
The specs are pretty much accurate (not very hard to guess as they've been predicatble for years.) but that picture/render is wishful thinking.
Aside from the fact that test units come in fake cases, as they've always done, these leaked images are always fake, every year in a row.

It's looking like this will fix all the wrongs of the S5:
Class leading CPU/GPU on 14nm
Premium metal build
Touch based fingerprint sensor
20 mp 2nd gen Samsung ISOCELL sensor with phase detect autofocus and OIS
The next evolution of AMOLED

Here is the leaked design of Samsung S6

The quad hd is a mess . in normal use , practically you don't need it
This post is misleading about rumors
Do you think that will be hard to have bug free custom roms with the exynos cpu?
I'm looking forward to March 1st... there should be some pretty cool info at the unveiling.
I'm all in for another Galaxy, but all these leaks without a sdcard slot make me a bit nervous.
Don't give your hopes up guys and really don't put too much stock into all these leaks. For the last few years all the supposed reliable leaks have been wrong and Samsung basically reintroduced the same damn phone. Well their not getting me this year no more hurt feelings, so until I see add to cart next to a s6 picture the new s6 is the s5 with upgraded hardware
Moto X 2014
Prediction: S6 will be an uglified but high spec S5, much like the S5 was an uglified S4 with better internals. Add the new crown jewel Exynos SoC, revamped KNOX and Samsung's traditional hamfisted massacre of Android, and I further predict less dev support than ever.
hi
i phone 5 and s6 this kind of better, I want to buy either and are wondering
2800 mah battery? omg! why samsung not trying to improve battery performance? 2800 mah will be enough?

As we have multiple threads about the specifications of the S6, one official one has been opened here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/specs-samsung-galaxy-s6-specifications-t3034238

note 5 will have sd card

In the Middle East, the Jarir Bookstore has posted listings for both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. While neither listing included a photo, the specs for each model were posted. This would be a good time to remind you to head over to your pantry so that you can take this story with the proverbial grain of salt. If you're on a salt-restricted diet, a pinch of Mrs. Dash will do just fine.
According to the listing for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the device will feature a Gorilla Glass 4 protected 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. Under the hood is the Exynos 7422 SoC, which includes an octa-core CPU. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB/64GB of native storage. Yes Virginia, there is a 128GB capacity microSD slot on the Note 5 for those requiring additional memory. A rear-facing 16MP camera is on board, along with a 5MP front-facing shooter. A 4100mAh battery powers the phablet, which has Android 5.1 pre-installed. The Galaxy Note 5 will be available in black or gold. Weighing in at 169 grams, the device measures 7.6mm thick.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will also feature a Gorilla Glass 4 protected 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The Exynos 7420 SoC will power the handset with an octa-core CPU and the Mali-T760 MP8 GPU. 4GB of RAM inside. 32GB/64GB of internal storage is inside and the back to front camera combo is 16MP/5MP. A 3000mAh battery keeps the engines humming, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed. Under expansion slot the listing says Not Specified, so don't count on expandable memory. The Galaxy S6 edge+ is 6.9mm thin and weighs 156 grams.
Pricing for both devices was not listed. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will be officially unveiled on August 13th and the Unpacked event in New York City.

Seems to be the rumor for other areas in the world... I guess we can just hope for our area to atleast get it..
I can live with no removable battery but SD card is a must for me specially if the base model will be 32 GB. I hope these rumors are true.
I wish people would stop playing with my emotions like this lol. I've heard yes/no/yes/no/yes/no. Luckily it's just a few days away.

i, too, am ready for this emotional rollercoaster to stop haha
Is this reputable? Everything I've seen is to the contrary.
It's extremely unlikely that Samsung will not include an SD card slot on the Note 5 despite all the rumours.

Why so? Sd card was excluded on the s6
The Notes were/are really aimed at businessmen & women.
Early rumours about no SD were never substantiated.
I believe only the international version will have a micro SD card slot.

Ya know there is a thread already about this very topic.. Just not as specific to just the SD card.
And as expected no sd card expansion on the note 5
Confirmed by Samsung itself. Moderators should close all these pointless (and incorrect/misleading) posts.
nailed it

The "Note" Series As We Know It Is Gone...
Welcome to circa 2015 - 2016....
Where Samsunk let loose of everything that it held Near & Dear.. :crying:
And Bowed Down To The Will Of Apple.
Thread Closed as this is all misleading and incorrect speculation.
The Samsung Unpacked Event...which by the way occurred yesterday 08/13/15 proves all of this incorrect also.
In lieu of avoiding the trolls and and back and forth, this thread has served its purpose.

I can't wait to get both phones. This is going to be awesome. Hopefully the note 6 will come with expandable storage. And that's too bad that the s7 edge won't come with expandable storage.

What would that do as far as the phones storage is concerned?

I have a question, Will the "D" Audio jack be implanted into this phone?
No replaceable battery really blows, but a 64GB + SD & 4GB RAM ain't too bad, especially if they squeeze an extra .1" screen size in the same size chassis as the S6.
I said all the summer that ill take s6 edge, after i said ill take the Sony xperia z5 premium, and yet, as God protect me, im now very happily that i wait so long to jump for my Sony xperia z1, into the Samsung galaxy s7 ^_^ Only and only from all this rumors i have chills all day, weeks now. I cant wait for february /March, to get it into my hands.

And also guys... Camera is not 20MP lol these rumours. It's actually a lot lower but with duo camera - don't worry it's not a gimmick pulled by competitors of the past if you can remember

A few benchmark tests I have watched usually have Exynos come out on top. So, I'll go with Exynos. But Snapdragon is also fast, but with some xposed tweaks of course

The note 5 just came out in August, what do you think the release of the s7 means for the note 6? Should we expect it earlier?
There might not even be a note 6
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Why would they make the s7 edge bigger than the regular version? Not all people like phablets and although I don't mind big phones any thing bigger than 5.5 is to big and I don't think that it is a good move for sales.
There will the s7, s7 edge and s7 edge+
