IMIE

Hi all,
If I was to buy a nexus one from EBAY or Gum Tree and the the phone is subsquently blocked i.e. IMIE due to the seller claiming on his insurance is the phone useles or can it be reflashed with any of the ROMS and then work ?
I am thinking of buying a phone like this but concerned of the risk of buyer phones from private sellers.
TIA
IMEI is constant and doesn't depend on ROM. Flashing ROMs won't help.

Bad IMEI on ATT, will it work on TMob?

Unfortunately I bought a One X from someone off CL that has a bad IMEI. My account got suspended as soon as I activated the phone. Im out of contract and wondering if I can unlock the phone and use it on Tmob? If not, Im just going to sell it for parts. I will no longer be buying cell phones of CL.
It might. The best way is to borrow a friend who has a T-Mobile phone and stick their SIM in your phone.

it was probably already blacklisted and tagged as stolen in AT&T's database,
try to call at&t and prove the ownership of the said phone,
and we'll reactivate it right away
AS I know You cann`t use it in USA, but you can sold it to another country where AT&T is out of service.
Just change out the IMEI

Just change out the IMEI number so it is not blacklisted. It is not illegal in the United States, and if any moron tells you it is ask him for the link to the law. You will not find one. I got mine fixed on ebay from a company called kingpin unlockers. It cost me 60 dollars and they did it remotely in less than 30 minutes. Remotely, yes i did not have to send my phone in anywhere. Just go to ebay and copy and paste the following text in the search box:
Bad IMEI ESN repair service Samsung T-MOBILE Galaxy S4 S 4 IV M919 Blacklisted
They do both att and tmobile and also do note 2 and s3 imei changes remotely.

You are very wrong. Do not spread bad info. The GSM cloning laws are very strict. Also this topic is banned from XDA

IMEI Block?

just woundering because this phone comes unlocked could someone IMEI block them because i want to buy one of ebay/online and last time i bought a phone it got imei blocked also would this apply to any unlocked phone? also if you could imei block them could i ask my carrier to stop it from getting banned
i hope i made sense
Being unlocked means nothing.
IMEI block is a phone reported stolen.
Either it actually is stolen, or the seller has reported it stolen to rip people off. (He would only do this if he has 3rd party insurance and will get a replacement unit - so, taking your money and getting a new replacement )
9/10 - if a unit has its IMEI blocked, its actually stolen.
If your gonna buy a phone off eBay, make sure its a reputable seller with a high percentage of positive reviews (98%+) and preferably - nothing less than 50 feedback. (Check the users feedback, make sure they have sold items before - similar if possible - as his score could be cheap items that he's bought not sold to gain scores)

AT&T Unlocked Phone Blacklisted on Tmobile

This might sound like a broken record with ebay/craigslist scams, you can add me to the list.
I'm going to keep it short and to the point.
- I'm a T-Mobile user, purchased an AT&T Phone (LG Optimus G) on Craigslist , which i then unlocked via ebay code.
- a couple weeks of use the phone was reported stolen, blacklisted.
> On the day of purchase I saved the craigslist ad on the computer, which contained the seller's number, and it had the date as well.
What should i do?
- Contact the seller?
- Contact AT&T Insurance Company?
- Sell it on Ebay, is it illegal?
Would greatly appreciate any help or info as I am stranded without a phone, so the sooner the better, thank you.

Contact the seller that would be common sense.... lol
If you contact or go to AT&T they will want to take the phone from you.....
you can sell it on eBay no problem , The Phone will ONLY work outside of the USA. Its not illegal to sell it on eBay if you look there are thousands of them just make sure you put it clear the the IMEI is bad

The number on the Ad was a fake number so can't get in any contact with them.
If I sell it on Ebay, wouldn't it be illegal since it was reported stolen?

No... There are thousands of them on there. It would be illegal if you sold it without saying it had a bad IMEI.
How do you know it was reported Stolen? They are NOT allowed to tell you that. It can can either be reported stolen or lost.
They prob reported it lost, as if someone reports it stolen they have to make a police report.

Wait.. T-Mobile said that? your best bet would to try and call AT&T as they would of had to of reported it to AT&T and not T-Mobile. But you wont know if someone filed a report. I`d just list it on eBay as a Bad IMEI phone, its not illegal and its not ripping anyone off as the phone can be used for parts and will work anywhere outside of the USA/Canada.
Your best bet would be to put it on eBay with a bad IMEI. As far as you know, it's simply a broken phone. You don't need to tell the buyers the circumstances.

I'm thinking the seller sold it to me then reported it stolen. And if it is reported stolen i wouldn't be able to sell it because it's stolen property.
Do you think at&t would want the phoned turned in if I contact them?

boght phone off ebay year later Blocked IMEI number

So i bought a S8 plus off ebay back in January 2018 and I just found out the person who sold it to me stopped paying for it this week. So now my IMEI number is blocked and eBay and T-Mobile won't help me.
If I root the phone would it unlock the IMEI number?
The model is G955F Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955U)

No take your recept and go to your local police as the sellar sold you property that was not his or hers to sell. We do not discuss blacklisted imei fixing on XDA this is the best advice you will get here. It sucks when people do this crap and they outha be slapped in the mouth. Tmobile wont help other than either you pay it off or nothing. You should be able to go in your ebay history and get your recepit...
yeah i kind of figured this out.
Ebay told me to email their police reinforcement team because i stopped using the term they stopped paying for their phone instead used they sold me a stolen phone. guess i need to print out my receipt and file a report. maybe i can atleast get the person who sold it to me banned.
